Part 2:
Chapter 13:
From a broken past, a brighter future will emerge
Hibiki's POV:
Frontier Bridge
Hibiki stands before Maria and Ver, nay, the whole world watches as she dons Gungnir once more, the only difference this time is that she wasn't using fragments of another wielder's Gear, but the Gear from Maria's Gungnir pendant. "She's... Compatible with Gungnir?" Maria said in disbelief of what stood before her.
As for the doctor, this form of Hibiki's brought fear, fear from the past. "Not here...!" He screamed as he ran down the steps leading to the bridge's controls, tripping and falling the rest of the way down. "I'm not... Letting it end like this!" With that scream, Ver transformed his hand and opened a hole in the floor.
Hibiki wanted to stop him, but Maria suddenly fainted from her use of Black Gungnir prior to Hibiki taking it right off of her. "Hold it right there Dr. Ver!" Genjuro shouted as himself and Ogawa arrive on the bridge. But they were too late. Ver looked at them with a sinister grin on his face as he jumped into the opening he created. In that moment, the commander and agent noticed Hibiki's attire. "Hibiki-san. That Symphogear..." Ogawa questioned.
"Maria-san's Gungnir answered my song." Hibiki answers. The men sighed in relief, knowing that Hibiki wasn't in any danger from using another relic. But their relief was short-lived as the ground began to shake.
"We're picking up irregularities in the gravity field!" Sakuya reported.
"Frontier has started moving and gaining altitude at a rapid pace." Aoi added.
This made the Section Two members present start to worry. But in that moment, Maria regained consciousness. "Ver has linked his left arm to Frontier and can control it however he sees fit." Maria said as she sits herself up. "Frontier gets its power from the heart of the Nephilim. If you manage to take that down, Ver can be stopped. I have no right to fight this battle so... I beg of you... Please!"
"Shirabe-chan asked me to as well." Hibiki says, shocking Maria. "She wanted me to save you. So don't worry!" Hearing that Shirabe was worried for her made Maria smile a bit, but suddenly the two Gungnir wielders were surprised when Genjuro suddenly made a huge hole in the floor. "Sensei?"
"Leave finding Dr. Ver to us." Genjuro said. "As for you, Hibiki-kun, I want you to..."
"Stop the Nephilim's heart? I'm on it!" Hibiki answers, finishing Genjuro's sentence.
"Before you go, a word of warning." Maria interjected. "Dr. Ver took a sample of DNA from Kana Kamui when he kidnapped her, so whatever she has, Ver may also have access to."
"Thanks for the warning." Genjuro replied, doing everything he could to not show his anger at the doctor for what he did to one of his students. "Shall we?" Genjuro said, motioning for Ogawa to follow him, to which the ninja nodded and followed Genjuro down the hole in the floor.
"Please wait here, I'll be right back!" Hibiki says as she leaves the bridge to rejoin her allies. Within mere moments, Hibiki found her allies. "Kanade-san! Tsubasa-san! Chris-chan!"
"Tachibana!" Tsubasa replied.
"I won't slow us down anymore, so..."
"Yes, let's fight together." Tsubasa said, finishing Hibiki's sentence.
In that moment, Kana arrived. "Sorry I'm late, just had something that needed my attention." Kana said, apologizing for not showing up sooner. Just then, she made eye contact with Chris, who looked away from her, expecting Kana to be mad, but she wasn't. "I'm glad you came back, Chris!" Kana said, giving her friend a big hug. As she let go, she noticed Solomon's Cane in Chris' hands. "So that's why you shot Tsubasa-san. hehe."
Hibiki then took notice of the Cane as well, and grabbed Chris' hands. "I knew you could do it, Chris-chan!" Hibiki cheers.
"W-Well of course I could!" Chris replied, trying to seem cool in front of her underclassman.
"Next time, talk to us when you have a crazy plan like that, kay?" Kana asked in jest.
"You're not gonna let me live that down, are you?" Chris asked.
"I mean it's either that or the other thing, Lit-"
"YOU FINISH THAT SENTENCE AND I'M SHOOTING YOU NEXT TIME!" Chris interrupted, scaring the group while Kana nervously chuckled.
Not long after Chris' outburst, Genjuro contacts the wielders on their communicators. "HQ has pinpointed the location of a high-mass energy output! If I had to guess, it's Frontier's reactor! Wielders, head there immediately, as directed by HQ!"
"Let's go!" Tsubasa said. "Seeing as we're the only ones here with weapons, it's up to us to do this!" The group nods and heads towards the coordinates HQ gave them.
"Stray cats, running around my yard like they own the place." Ver says as he watches the wielders get closer and closer to Frontier's core. "Feel the power of the Nephilim that devoured and assimilated Frontier!"
As they drew ever closer to Frontier's core, the ground in front of them began to move and transform. "Wh-What the?" Hibiki says.
"At this point, nothing's gonna stop us. So this'll surely be a breeze to handle!" Kanade chimed in.
As the rocks finished transforming, they formed into a new beast that shot explosive projectiles at the ground beneath the wielders, causing them to jump back. "Is that the autonomous, completed relic from before?" Tsubasa asked.
The beast then fires another attack from his mouth, aiming it at Chris and Kana, who dodge the attack with ease. "If that's the same relic from before, it got a helluva lot stronger!" Chris replied.
"Nephilim or not, we must get rid of it if we want to have any chance of stopping Dr. Ver!" Kana added.
"Devour them... And anything else that stands in my way!" Ver says. "Show them all why they call you 'The Glutton,' NEPHILIM!"
Maria and Serena's POVs:
Frontier Bridge
With everyone gone, Maria slowly walked down the steps of the bridge. "There's nothing I can do..." Maria says to herself aloud. "Serena's songs... I'm wasting them... Along with her memories..." Maria started to tear up, weeks ago, she felt like what she was doing was right, even if it meant fighting her amnesiac sister. But now? Now she regretted every second of opposing her younger sister.
"Maria-neesan..." A familiar voice called out, causing Maria to look at the elevator shaft leading up to the bridge. For a moment, she saw someone she recognized. "Serena?" Maria rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things. When she looked again, instead of seeing Serena how she looked the day she sacrificed herself, she saw Serena as she was today. "Oh... It's just you, Serena Kamui..."
"Serena Cadenzavna Eve, Oneesan." Serena retorts, surprising Maria. "I want to help you, Maria. So tell me, what is it you want to do?"
Maria looked down, feeling as though she had no right to look her sister in the eyes anymore. "I've done nothing but hurt you, Serena... I don't deserve your help..."
Serena walked up to her older sister and gave her a hug. "You don't need to hide how you truly feel from me, Oneesan. I may not remember anything from our childhood, but that doesn't change the fact that we're sisters. From now on, I'll always be there for you, as I hope you are for me." Maria began to cry again as she hugged Serena back. Serena just let it happen, patting Maria on the back as she cried. Eventually, Maria recomposed herself. "Now tell me, what is it you want to do?"
"I want to save the world with my songs..." Maria says, sniffling. "To save them from the disaster caused by the falling moon..."
"Then let's do it together, Maria-neesan." Serena replies, as she lead them both in song.
(Apple begins to play)
Lilith and Nastassja's POV:
Frontier Control Room
As the sisters sang, the world joined in, still watching the Frontier broadcast. Unknown to them all, the phonic gain was still being sent to the detached control room. Meanwhile in said room, Nastassja transformed her wheelchair into a mech of sorts and removed the debris that surrounded herself and Lilith. "Are you alright, Ms. Lilith?"
Lilith groans as she gets up from the debris. "I've been better, but I'll manage." Lilith says as she rubbed her head, but in that moment, she hears the song echo throughout the control room. "What is going on?"
"Phonic gain from all over the world is being sent here, via Frontier." Nastassja explains. "With all of this phonic gain, we can restart the lunar ruins and and adjust the Moon's orbit."
"That's great!" Lilith says, before remembering how she and Serena found her earlier. "But are you sure you're in a good enough condition to pull it off?"
"I'm not sure how, but, excluding current injuries from the debris, I feel much better than I have after any of Ver's treatments on my condition." Nastassja says. "If I had to guess, your healing from before has erased any major symptoms I had suffered previously." Lilith was happy to hear that, but still worried about her current injuries. "For now, let's focus on stopping the Moon's collision course before we worry about my current injuries." With that, the doctor started pressing all sorts of buttons to try and get contact with the bridge from their current location. "Maria! Maria!"
"Mom!" Both Serena and Maria shout, surprised to hear her voice.
"The entire world is resonating with your song. This amount of phonic gain is enough to reactivate the lunar ruins!" Nastassja explains. "I shall take responsibility for stopping the Moon."
Hearing this worried Maria, but Lilith stepped up to the computer. "Maria-san, it's okay!" Lilith says. "This is Lilith Kamui of Section Two. I'm currently here with Dr. Nastassja, keeping her alive. Once we're finished, I'm going to use Fólkvangr to bring her back to HQ to receive proper medical attention."
"Mom's going to be alright, Maria-neesan." Serena said, which picked up in the communicator. "Lilith-san is one of Section Two's best combat medics. She's in good hands."
"Go, Maria." Nastassja says. "Go, and let me hear your songs once more!"
Maria wipes the tears from her eyes. "Okay, Mom!" Maria said proudly. "It's time for the curtain to rise on the greatest show in the world! Let's go Serena!"
"Right!" Serena replied as they both left the bridge.
"Now then, let's get to work, shall we?" Nastassja says to Lilith.
"Right behind you, Doctor!" Lilith answers.
The Wielders'/Section Two's POVs:
The Final Battle on Frontier
The Section Two wielders did everything they could to fight the Nephilim, but nothing seemed to work. "How in the hell did this thing get so strong?!" Chris asks as she unleashed her entire arsenal of missiles and bullets on the beast, only for nothing to damage it.
As the fight continued, the wielders started to take damage from the monster's assault, but it was in that moment when all seemed lost that Kana smirks as she brings out her trump card. "NOW!" Kana shouts.
"Deeeess!" On Kana's command, Kirika cut off one of the Nephilim's arms with her attack The slasher: Jabberwock as Shirabe slices at the monster's abdomen with her Forbidden Full Moon. "Shul Shagana..."
"And Igalima have arrived!" Kirika says, finishing Shirabe's sentence.
"You guys came!" Hibiki says, surprised that they would work with them.
"You can thank Kana-sama for that dess." Kirika answers, confusing Hibiki.
"I'll explain later." Kana says.
"As for this thing," Kirika continues, turning to face the Nephilim. "It won't be easy to take down."
"But we still have our songs!" A new voice chimes in. Maria and Serena, the latter of which was in her Symphogear, have joined the fight. The other Gear wielders join Maria and Serena on the platform they were standing on, Hibiki and the Zababa wielders being the happiest to see them. "I won't falter any longer. Mom and Lilith-san are risking their lives to stop the Moon from falling."
"Lilith's up there too?!" Kana shouts, not knowing Lilith was in that building that rocketed into space.
"It doesn't matter how many of you failures come together, victory will still be mine!" Ver says, practically psychotic from the power he gained from Kana's blood. "Incinerate them, NEPHILIM!"
On Ver's command, the Nephilim charged up its strongest fireball ever and hurled it towards the 9 wielders, who could do nothing to stop it. The fireball explodes on contact with the platform the wielders were standing on and the mad doctor relished in his victory, but the moment was short lived as a voice emerged from the smoke.
"Seilien coffin Airgetlám tron"
(Hajimari no Babel begins to play)
The smoke dissipated and revealed the wielders standing in a barrier created by Maria's trump card, the original Airgetlám Symphogear. "Shirabe is here. Kirika is here. Even Mom and Serena are with me." Maria says. "If everyone is here with me, then a pulling off a miracle like this... Is child's play!"
"They used the energy from transforming as a barrier field?!" Ver was surprised by this, but unfazed regardless. "A trick like that won't last long!"
The Nephilim began to charge another attack and sent it towards the group once more, but this time, the wielders were ready. "Set Harmonics!" Hibiki and Kana say in unison, the latter activating their Augmentation to synchronize her power with Hibiki's. "S2CA! Turn phonic gain into power!" Together, the girls leapt from the barrier and punched the fireball, erasing it with ease and rejoining the other wielders.
"When melodies are drawn together, there doesn't need to be a reason." Tsubasa says, extending her hand out to Shirabe as Kanade smiles in agreement with Tsubasa. Hesitantly, Shirabe grabs Tsubasa's hand.
Kana lands next to Chris and does the same as Tsubasa, but Chris doesn't hesitate to grab her hand and then turns to offer her free hand to Kirika. "I'm not usually one to use teamwork, but it's times like these where I'll make an exception." Chris says.
"That makes two of us dess." Kirika replies as she grabs Chris' hand with less hesitance than Shirabe.
"Shirabe-chan! Kirika-chan!" Hibiki shouts as she offers her hands to the Zababa wielders, who grab them in response. And thus the wielders all held hands, Serena holding Maria's as the other 7 held each other's.
"I want to believe that what you're doing isn't hypocrisy." Shirabe says to Hibiki. "So show us up close what you mean when you talk about saving others." Hibiki nods, promising to do so. Shirabe smiles at this and the group as a whole began to sing in unison, causing the barrier around them to shine even brighter than before.
"So this is something only clasped hands can create..." Maria thought to herself.
"Nine Superb Songs... You really think a mere nine songs will rival my power?!"
Ver has the Nephilim shoot at the group of Symphogear wielders' barrier once more, slowly causing all of the wielders' Gears to break apart, but they still held their ground. "This is more than nine..." Hibiki says. "This power I'm bringing together... Is seven billion Superb Songs!" The group emerge from the barrier and fly higher into space. When the light around them dissipates, they are in their X-Drive forms, which surprises Kirika the most since she recognizes Kana's X-Drive form from before. "From the songs of the entire world we were granted this power! These Symphogears!" Together, the wielders fly towards the Nephilim at blinding speeds and pierce through it, causing a massive explosion as a result.
Meanwhile, Genjuro and Ogawa finally reached the reactor of Frontier, seeing the dejected doctor after his beast was defeated effortlessly. "Dr. Ver!" Genjuro shouts, getting the doctor's attention. "It's seems that the world was too much for you to handle."
Ver was angered by Genjuro's taunting words and reached for the control panel once more, but Ogawa was quick to react to this, firing a bullet at his shadow and stunning him in place. "I won't allow you to continue doing as you please!" Ogawa says.
"If a miracle is what you get for trying your hardest... THEN I AM MORE THAN WORTHY OF ONE!" Ver screamed, resisting the stun from Ogawa's shadow weave to the point that blood rushed down his face and busted from his arm as he grabbed the control panel once more. Upon contact with the panel, Frontier's core began to glow even brighter.
"What did you just do?!" Genjuro asks.
"Just one word..." Ver answered. "I ordered it to purge Nephilim's heart." As Ver began to explain, Frontier's core began to glow red starting from where the heart was connected. "The Nephilim's heart has gone out of my control. It will devour Frontier's hull, using it as fuel for its rampage. The energy it will unleash will be a trillion degrees! If I can't be a hero in this world, then to hell with it a-"
Genjuro walks up to the psychotic doctor and punches him so hard he knocks him out. "That's for what you did to Kana-kun. As for your plan, I shall personally put an end to it!" Genjuro says as he destroys the control panel with another punch. Unfortunately, the core did not stabilize after the control panel was destroyed.
"It seems breaking it is out of the question." Ogawa says. "What should we do with him?"
"Restrain him and take him back to HQ with us." Genjuro orders. "I need to inform the wielders about this immediately."
"Understood. We'll deal with it before it goes critical." Tsubasa says, receiving Genjuro's orders. Once the call ends, the wielders are immediately put on alert as Frontier's main building began to spark wildly.
Wasting no time in escaping, Genjuro and Ogawa took the unconscious doctor back to their jeep and made haste back to base. Suddenly, the doctor groaned as he woke up, scoffing as he saw the handcuffs on him. "You're really taking me prisoner? What a waste of time. It would've been easier to just finish me off, clearly you're strong enough to do tha-!" Ver stopped himself as a massive boulder was moments away from flattening all three of them.
Genjuro however was unfazed by the boulder, annihilating it with ease. "I won't kill you, as much as I'd like to. I won't allow you to be branded as the demon that destroyed the world, or as a hero who died for his ideals." He says. "You shall be judged for your crimes, as a normal human being would!"
The mad doctor got upset by this and began to throw a tantrum. "Damn it all! Kill me now! Make me a hero! I wanna be a hero! I wanna! I wanna! I wanna!"
Back with the wielders, they watched as the lightning that surrounded Frontier's main building grew wilder and brighter, eventually exploding, causing the wielders to shield themselves from the turbulence. As this happened, Section Two fired missiles at the ground below their submarine and fell back into the ocean below. Seconds later, massive lava-like tendrils emerged from the explosion and absorbed Frontier. "So this is what Boss was talkin' about?" Kanade asks.
Once the tendrils all merged together, a blob formed from it and transformed into a new monster. "The Nephilim... It fully regenerated!" Maria says. Without hesitation, Shirabe and Kirika charge at the monster, unleashing their newfound power upon it, only for Nephilim to absorb the energy produced from their attacks.
"It can absorb energy produced from relics too?!" Kana asks aloud.
"If we allow it to reach criticality, Earth will be...!"
"Incinerated!" Hibiki says, finishing Tsubasa's sentence.
The wielders were starting to panic, unsure as to how they could defeat a monster who could treat their attacks as mere snacks. Luckily, Chris had an idea. "Babylonia! Full Open!" She shouts, opening a portal below the Nephilim with Solomon's Cane.
"The Treasury of Babylonia?!" Hibiki gasps.
"She's using her X-Drive to expand the capabilities of Solomon's Cane?!" Tsubasa adds, just as shocked.
Quickly, the wielders know what Chris was planning. "We need to get the Nephilim into the Treasury of Babylonia!" Serena says.
"Show us you're more than just a tool for killing! Solomon!" Chris shouts, putting her all into opening the portal fully.
However, the Nephilim wasn't about to sit there and let itself be sealed away. "Chris! Watch out!" Kana warns her friend, but Nephilim was quicker than Kana's warning, batting her away and making her let go of Solomon's Cane.
Maria saw this and quickly flew over to the Cane, aiming it at the opening Chris made. "For tomorrow!" Maria screams as she finishes what Chris started, pulling the monster towards the portal. But Nephilim wasn't about to go in alone. The monster shot out more lava-like tendrils from its hand and snared Maria with them, which concerned the group, especially Serena and the Zababa wielders. "Once we're inside, I'll seal the gate behind me! I'll take care of the Nephilim!" The wielders were shocked to hear Maria say this. She was planning to sacrifice her life to seal away the Nephilim. "This definitely won't allow me to atone for my sins... But if I can protect the world this way, that's all that matters."
"In that case," Hibiki says, flying over to Maria's side. "We'll be there to protect your life." The other wielders circled around Maria as she and the Nephilim are slowly sucked into the Treasury, which touched Maria to see them not give up on her. "I'm not a hero, so I can't protect the world. But... We're not alone."
"Now enough of the sappy crap." Kanade interjects, glaring at the Noise crawling throughout the Treasury. "It's time to kick asses and take names!" With that said, the portal closes behind the group and their true final battle with the Nephilim has begun.
Lilith and Nastassja's POV:
Frontier Control Room
"Phonic gain is maintaining output." The doctor starts to grow weak from her injuries, but Lilith is quick to catch her. "The lunar ruins, the curse of Balal... All control systems have been reactivated. Readjustment of lunar orbit immanent."
"Excellent work, Doctor!" Lilith says, congratulating Nastassja for her efforts. "So the Moon will no longer fall to the Earth?"
"Precisely. With that, our work here is done." Nastassja answers. "Now to fulfill my promise to Serena." Lilith smiles at Nastassja, but then notices the glowing light of the Earth on the monitor. "The stars... Have become music..." Nastassja passes out from exhaustion in Lilith's arms.
"Dr. Nastassja!" Lilith shouts, checking to make sure she's still alive, taking a sigh of relief when she finds her pulse. "Thank the Gods... Now to leave the rest to Kana and the others." Lilith pulls out her Fólkvangr relic and teleports the two of them back to base.
The Wielders' POVs:
The Treasury of Babylonia
(Vitalization begins to play)
With a plan set in motion, the Section Two wielders focus on attacking the Noise as the Zababa wielders and Serena focus on freeing Maria from Nephilim's grasp. "Shirabe! Is it done yet?" Kirika asks.
"Almost... Got it...!" Shirabe replies, putting her all into her sawblades to cut the tendrils, eventually snapping them. Now free, Maria shakes off the broken tendrils. "Maria!"
"All of these Noise..." Maria says, looking at the seemingly endless horde then back to Solomon's Cane. "There's no way this one Cane can control them all!"
"Maria-san! Focus on reopening the Treasury with Solomon's Cane!" Hibiki shouts, much to Maria's confusion.
"If we can open it externally, then it should be easy to do the same from within!" Tsubasa adds.
"That damn thing is a key!" Chris adds as well.
"Let's do it, Maria-neesan!" Serena says, putting a hand on the Cane. "Together!"
Maria smiles at her younger sister, momentarily seeing her as she was they day before she disappeared. "Alright." Maria replies, readying Solomon's Cane with Serena. "OPEN!" The sisters shout in unison, successfully opening a portal back to Earth. The sisters celebrated their success.
"Now let's get out dess!" Kirika says, interrupting the celebration.
"Before the Nephilim can escape!" Shirabe adds.
Seeing the F.I.S. trio and Serena head for the exit, Tsubasa and Kanade detach any equipment from their Gears that hinder their mobility and did the same. "Kamui! Yukine! Let's go!" Tsubasa says, alerting the duo of the opening.
"Right!" Chris responds, detaching her equipment by sending it out as multiple explosives upon the Noise.
"Heh... Showoff..." Kana scoffs before following right behind Chris. As the 9 wielders made haste for the exit, The Nephilim quickly got in front of the portal, not allowing them to leave so easily. "That thing sure isn't making this easy for us..."
"Then there's only one option left." Kanade adds.
"Let's join hands everyone!" Hibiki says, knowing exactly what Kanade was getting at. Following Hibiki's request, the Section Two wielders joined hands as Shirabe, Kirika, and Serena did the same. "Maria-san!" Hibiki offered her free hand to her.
"Oneesan!" Serena says, doing the same as Hibiki.
Before she grabbed their hands, Maria pulled a sword out from her breastplate and threw it into the air. "I won't let go of these hands easily!"
Together, Maria and Hibiki raise their hand skyward. "The fastest, shortest route..." The sword above them suddenly turns into light and falls upon the group, surrounding them in a silver and orange glow as they began to fly towards the Nephilim. Soon after, parts of both Maria and Hibiki's armor fly off their bodies and form a giant Silver and Gold set of gauntlets that clasp the wielders in their grasp. "Is straight through!"
The Nephilim sees the giant gauntlets start to spin like a drill, causing it to send out tendrils in an effort to stop their advance, but they had no effect and the group cut through the monster like paper and crashed onto the beach on the other side of the portal. But the fight wasn't over yet, the portal was still open and all of the wielders used so much energy that they could hardly stand. "The Cane... We need to close the gate..." Maria weakly says, trying to stand up. "The Nephilim will explode any second!"
"It's not over for us yet..." Kana replies.
"We have other strong friends..." Tsubasa adds, which confuses Maria.
"My best friend..." Hibiki says, seeing Miku sprint towards Solomon's Cane.
"Hibiki taught me that there's other ways to fight than Gears." Miku says to herself. "I'm going to fight too!" Miku grabs Solomon's Cane, "Please! Close!" And throws it towards the portal with all her might. "Make a world where Hibiki... Where no one has to fight!"
The wielders and Miku watched as the Cane flew closer and closer to the portal which began to glow brighter and brighter as Nephilim was about to explode. Fortunately, the Cane crossed through the portal and closed at the last possible second before the explosion, causing the sky to alter in color for a moment before everything went back to normal. With their battle won, the wielders and Miku let out a sigh of relief, except Kanade.
Kanade looked up at where the portal was and smiled. Seconds later, her smile turned to tears of joy and a massive laughing fit, which concerned all but Tsubasa, who knew why she was laughing. "Mom... Dad... Sis... You can rest now. I have avenged you all."
The Wielders and Section Two's POVs:
Later that day
Following the destruction of Nephilim and, by extension, Solomon's Cane and the Treasury of Babylonia, Section Two gave Ver to the proper authorities to have him judged for his crimes as Genjuro promised him. "You're all wrong... A world that doesn't need heroes is..." The mad doctor mumbled as he was taken away, going on and on about how he was in the right.
"The Moon is returning to its proper orbit." Ogawa reports to Genjuro, Lilith following right behind him.
"And Dr. Nastassja?" Genjuro asks Lilith.
"Her injuries weren't anything major, and thanks to my healing magic, she should make a full recovery." Lilith reports. "That being said, I will still need to keep a close eye on her as she recovers, in case any past illnesses resurface during her recovery."
"Very well. I'll be sure to get approval from the higher-ups to allow you to monitor Dr. Nastassja's condition." Genjuro says, turning his attention to the F.I.S. wielders. "As for them... That's going to be a long battle in and of itself."
Meanwhile on the other side of the beach, the F.I.S. trio and Serena looked towards the ocean. "Maria-san." Hibiki says, approaching Maria with her Gungnir in her hand as the other Section Two wielders approach behind her.
Maria smiled at Hibiki's offer to return her Gear, but she only needed what remained of Serena's original Airgetlám. "Gungnir is yours now." Hibiki nods at Maria's statement, putting the pendant in her pocket. "And I want to thank you again, Kana Kamui. Not only for saving my sister's life, but from what Kirika has told me, you were responsible for saving Shirabe's life as well." Kirika smiled when Maria mentioned that.
"I'm just doing what my Papa would've done, helping those in need." Kana replies, scratching the back of her head. "But we're far from done helping you girls. I'm sure Genjuro-sensei is already getting to work on getting you three out of jail as we speak."
Maria chuckles at hearing this. "You really are something else, you know that?" Kana blushes from the compliment. "But there's still one problem left... The lunar ruins were reactivated."
Tsubasa could tell immediately what Maria was getting at. "The Curse of Balal..."
"So humanity's mutual understanding has gotten further from our grasp." Chris adds.
Everyone thought about this for a moment. With the Curse still active, world peace was still a mere dream. But there was one person in the group who didn't let that bum them out. "That's fine. Everything's okay!" Hibiki says, much to the group's surprise. "After all, the world still has the power of songs!"
The wielders couldn't argue with that logic. "One day, people will connected." Shirabe says. "But it won't be in some place or some far-off point in the future. We shared such a connection just now." Hibiki couldn't agree more with Shirabe on that note.
"Hibiki Tachibana." Maria says, getting Hibiki's attention. "I'm glad to have met you. Same with you, Kana Kamui." The girls smile to one another, but the moment couldn't last forever. Saying their goodbyes, the F.I.S. trio were escorted by Ogawa to a helicopter to be sent to jail.
Hibiki's POV:
Lydian
Days later, the Section Two wielders returned to Lydian to resume their normal school lives. "Girls!" Hibiki shouts as herself and Miku run over to the other wielders.
"Get a load of this, Hibiki-chan." Kanade said. "Chris-chan's refusing to refer to Tsubasa as 'senpai' anymore."
"That's not at all what I said!" Chris refuted.
Hibiki grew a smug grin on her face after hearing this. "Oh ho? You call Tsubasa-san 'senpai'?" Hibiki asks, much to the concern of Miku and Kana.
"This is a perfect chance to get something through that thick skull of yours..." Chris said as she grabs Hibiki by the jaw. "I'm older than you, So that makes me YOUR senpai! Got it?!" Tsubasa and Kana pry Chris' hand off of Hibiki and pull her away from the younger Gungnir wielder. "Let go of me!"
"That's enough, you two." Tsubasa said calmly. "Don't forget, you're still recovering from your wounds."
Hibiki chuckles nervously as she watches Kana and Tsubasa restrain Chris. "Hey, Hibiki." Miku said, catching Hibiki's attention. "Are you okay? You don't feel strange, do you?"
"You're such a worrywart Miku." Hibiki chuckles, giving her best friend a hug. "They said that the relic that was eating away at me had fully disappeared back then." Miku was happy to hear this. "But still... Even though the Gungnir in my chest is gone, the song I inherited from Kanade-san will always be there." The other wielders smiled at this, especially Kanade, who could rest easier knowing that Hibiki won't die from her Gungnir anymore. "And I'm not the only one... I'm certain that a song is in everyone's hearts." With that, the group head towards Lydian once more, prepared to face whatever the future holds for them.
A/N: And with that, Part 2 Ends. But I won't be jumping straight into Part 3 just yet.
Considering how much time there is between G and GX canonically, I want to take the opportunity to make an intermission chapter to cover events that will affect the story later on down the road as well as moments between the parts that deserve to be covered in their own chapter instead of mashed into another chapter as flashbacks.
But with that said, thank you for reading Part 2: "From a broken past, a brighter future will emerge" and I shall see you all in the next chapter!
