A/N: I just want to clarify a few things before this chapter starts. The events in this intermission chapter take place between Parts 2 and 3 as well as the timeskip between the events of the first chapter. Just felt like that needed to be addressed to avoid any misunderstanding.

With that out of the way, Enjoy!

Intermission:
What the future holds...

?'s POV:
?

A man sits down in a chair in his private quarters, monitoring a chamber that held an infant that couldn't have been more than 2-3 weeks old. The man looked at this chamber unemotionally, but still with a hint of curiosity. This curiosity was broken once he heard the door to his room open. "Controlling Director? You called for me?" A woman with long silver hair in a sort of lab coat said.

"About time you showed up." The man says, placing down his wine glass to stand up and face the woman. "I hope you and your comrades were able to find what I was looking for?"

The woman held up a bag that contained what looked to be a pile of silver dust that took up a fourth of the bag. "We managed to gather enough to make the Faust robe as ordered. Once we're done here, work on it will begin immediately."

"Excellent." The man says. "If there's anyone around here that is able to not disappoint me, it's definitely you." The man chuckles.

"Controlling Director. Permission to speak freely?" The man motions for the woman to continue. "Why are we putting efforts towards this project over our actual goal? We've tried experiments like this before and the results weren't what we wanted. So what is the point in trying something like this?"

The man smirks at the woman's question. "Simple. Because the one called Kana Kamui is hiding a power that is unlike anything we've witnessed, the power of the custodians." The woman was confused by this. She saw what Kana was capable of and shrugged it off as just average alchemy, but could the Controlling Director be right? "If a being with her power can be recreated, then our goal will be that much closer to being realized."

"And if this experiment fails to present the desired result?" The woman asked.

"Then we put it with the other failures to be used as a lab rat." The man answers without hesitation. "Besides, it won't be up to me if they fail or succeed, that's your call." The woman is surprised by this. "I don't have time to babysit something that could be a failure. As I said, you're the only person around here who can get results. So I hope you can draw out their power in say... Two months with it?"

"Two months?!" The woman asked. "But that will cause a major setback in our plan, will it not?"

"And here I thought you had faith in those comrades of yours." The man says, making the woman go silent. "If I were concerned about this affecting our plan majorly, I'd leave this job to the usual people. Rest assured, I'm not expecting perfect results, so I won't hold it against you if this thing is a failure."

"Very well." The woman said. "Is there anything else?"

"That'll be all for now. I'll contact you again in a month when it's free from incubation." The man says, picking up his wine class and sitting down once more. "As you were." The woman bows respectfully before leaving the room. As she leaves, the man starts to review events of the Frontier incident with both curiosity and intrigue. "As for you, let's see if she forces you to bring out that true power of yours, dragon spawn."

?'s POV:
?

The woman exited her superior's office and went on to do as directed. On her way, she ran into her colleagues: A woman with long turquoise hair in a black dress and a shorter woman with brown hair who was holding a stuffed toy frog. "So what did he want to see you for, Saint-Germain?" The taller woman asked.

"The Controlling Director has some business he requests I oversee in the coming months." The woman, named Saint-Germain, answers. "I trust you two will have no troubles keeping up with our end of the plan in my absence, Cagliostro?"

"You make it sound like Prelati and I solely rely on you to get work done." Cagliostro teased.

"What business does Adam exactly want you to oversee?" The shorter woman, named Prelati asked.

"The project involving this and the blood samples taken from F.I.S.'s Airship." Saint-Germain answers once more.

"So basically he wants you to do the whole project for him..." Prelati stated. "Won't something like that hinder our plan's progression?"

"The Controlling Director believes it will not." Saint-Germain says. "For now, let us focus on our objectives first and foremost." With that said, Saint-Germain continues down the hallway to deliver the silver dust pile to the proper people.

"So it'll just be the two of us without Saint-Germain for a few months... That should be fun!" Cagliostro said.

"Being stuck with just you for a few months isn't exactly what I'd call 'fun.'" Prelati retorted, walking off in the direction of Saint-Germain.

"C'mon now! It can't be that bad working with me!" Cagliostro wined, following the other two.

Months Later...

Serena's POV:
Holding Facility

Kana and Serena walk into the prison as they would at least once every week, but this visit was different. "Agents Serena and Kana Kamui of S.O.N.G." Serena says, showing a badge to the officer on duty.

"Right. I take it this is about those three girls." The guard said, opening the door leading to the prison cells.

"Thank you." Serena says as herself and Kana enter the facility and find the cell they were looking for which held the F.I.S. trio. "We're back, Oneesan."

"Kana-sama!" Kirika said rushing over to bow to Kana.

Kana sighed. "Good to see you too, Kirika-chan." She said with a nervous chuckle.

"I'm glad to see you again Serena, but why did you come to our cell this time?" Maria asked. "Usually they have us meet you."

"Well that's because we have good news and bad news." Serena answers. "The good news is that, after today, Shirabe-chan and Kirika-chan will be free to go."

Shirabe and Kirika were happy to hear this, but the latter picked up on the fact Maria wasn't mentioned. "And the bad news?" Shirabe asked.

"Well..." Serena stopped to think about how to phrase this. "In order for their freedom to be approved, Maria-neesan needs to talk with an agent from the UN. I'm afraid the details outside of that have been withheld from the agents at Section Two..."

Everyone looked to Maria, concerned for what may lie ahead for her, but Maria did her best to not worry the four of them. "If it means they'll be freed, I'll hear out what this agent has to say." Maria said. With that, Serena and Maria leave the cell to speak with the agent in question.

As they walked, Maria asked Serena a question. "So what did they want to ask of me?"

"Like I said, they wouldn't say, Oneesan." Serena answers.

"I know you didn't want to mention it with Kana present." Maria said, which made Serena nervous. "We may not have been together for years, but I can still tell when there's something on your mind."

Serena takes a deep breath before stopping to face her elder sister. "I was mainly concerned with how you'd react if I told you the truth around them." Serena says, confusing Maria. "They will be fully free like I mentioned, but your freedom... Came with some strings attached..." Serena clenched her fist.

Maria could tell that Serena didn't want to talk about what was in store for Maria further, so she put a hand on her younger sister's shoulder. "Like I said in the cell, if it means Shirabe and Kirika will be okay, I'll hear them out." Maria said, easing Serena slightly.

Serena recomposes herself. "I know you will. I just wish your freedom could've been like the others'."

"Someday it will, Serena." Maria said. With that, the sisters continued to the room the agent was waiting for them in.

A couple days later, following Shirabe and Kirika's release from the holding facility...

Kana's POV:
Chris' A
partment

"YOU WHAT?!" Chris shouted furiously.

"They needed a place to stay until Genjuro-san could find them proper housing." Kana says nervously. "So I offered my place in the Astral Plane until such a place could be found... I figured it'd be okay for me to sleep here with you until then since we're technically roommates."

"And you didn't think to, I dunno, ASK ME FIRST BEFORE DOING THAT?!" Chris lectured. "I only have the one bed you dumbass! And unlike the idiot and her friend, I'd rather not share it!"

"I can easily sleep on the couch." Kana retorts. "Besides, Genjuro-san said it'll only take a week or two to find them their own place to live. So quit acting like this is going to end the world!"

Chris sighed, as much as she was furious with her, Kana was right. "Fine... But you better not try anything funny. And don't leave a big mess when you wake up! I'd still like to have this place look decent on the off chance the idiot, her friend, or anyone else come over without warning." Chris said.

"Heh. You make it sound like we're married and you're a housewife." Kana smugly says, getting an irritated, yet flustered, look from Chris. "Joking of course!" Kana chuckles nervously.

"Hmph! Whatever. Just set up your bed and go to sleep already." Chris said as she walked to her room. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight Chris." Kana replies, doing just as Chris asked and making her bed. As she finished doing so, Kana sighed to herself. "The others make it look so easy..." She says to herself. "So why is it so hard for me to tell her? Why does everything feel harder after Tsubasa-san and Kanade-san graduated?"

A few months ago, prior to Tsubasa and Kanade's graduation...

Miku's POV:
Lydian

After finals concluded, the Section Two Wielders and Miku all met up to chat before heading home for the day. "So... It's almost time for you two to graduate." Hibiki said.

"And, if I had to guess, after that you two will probably go to London right?" Miku adds.

"If the Noise are really gone for good, then I can truly fulfill my dream of having the whole world as my stage." Tsubasa answered.

"You mean our dream, right Tsubasa?" Kanade added, which the blue-haired idol nodded to.

"It still honestly feels weird that the Noise are finally gone." Kana said. "But in a way, I'm glad we don't have to watch them terrorize the public anymore."

"You and me both, Kana-chan." Kanade replied with a chuckle.

"We should be able to handle things here, so don't worry about us." Hibiki said confidently.

"You're always reliable at times like these, Tachibana." Tsubasa said. "If anything, it's Yukine that I'm worried about."

"The hell's that supposed to mean?!" Chris asked.

"Let's be honest for a moment Chris. If anyone's going to try and hide tears at their graduation, it's definitely going to be you." Kana said, angering Chris.

"And it won't be a few tears, I imagine there will be puddles from how many tears you'll have." Kanade added, angering Chris more.

"I'm not some kind of damn faucet!" Chris shouted. "I don't cry over everything! If anyone's gonna cry, it'll be one of the two graduating! Specifically you senpai!"

Tsubasa stands confidently, going into her more serious persona. "A sword has no need for tears! I've resolved to never cry again!"

"We'll see about that!" Chris retorts. With that, the group chat amongst themselves before parting ways to prepare for the graduation of the Zwei Wing wielders tomorrow.

The next day, following the Graduation Ceremony...

The wielders and Miku met up once again in front of Lydian. Serena had the time off, so she was able to attend her friends' graduation. As for Tsubasa and Chris, both wielders had tears in their eyes. "Told ya so." Chris said.

"I feel ashamed..." Tsubasa said as Kanade gave her a supportive pat on the back. "It's just, when I though about being apart from everyone, I just..." That thought made both Tsubasa and Chris start to tear up again and, immediately, the waterworks started to flow once again. As for the five that weren't crying, they just chuckled nervously.

"I will say though, it's going to be a bit lonely without them being around." Miku says, changing the topic.

"Yeah. It's hard to imagine school without everyone here." Hibiki added.

"I couldn't agree more, Hibiki." Kana said.

Suddenly, the wielders' phones start to ring, of which they all collectively nod to one another and answer. "Yes?"

The wielders were briefed on what was happening which shocked them collectively. "A UN space shuttle?!" Hibiki asked.

"Guidance system trouble on re-entry?" Chris added.

"We're on our way to Headquarters ASAP." Kana added after that as the group hang up their phones.

"Tsubasa-san, can we ask for your help one last time?" Hibiki asked the blue-haired graduate.

Tsubasa looked to Kanade, who nodded in approval. "Naturally. From now on, no matter how far apart we are, we'll always be together." Tsubasa said.

"Save the inspirational crap for the post cards." Chris said. "Let's get going!"

"Be safe!" Miku calls out to the group. Hibiki, Kana, Chris, and Tsubasa rush for HQ for their next mission, but Miku is surprised that Serena and Kanade don't rush behind them. "You aren't going with them, Kanade-san? Serena-san?" Miku asks.

"Nah." Kanade answered. "I'm sure the four of them are more than enough to handle this on their own."

"Besides, if they'll go about this the way I think they will, those pods would be uncomfortable for six people." Serena added, to which Kanade nodded in agreement. "If anything, Kanade and I can go on ahead and get things squared away for the flight to London."

Kanade sighed at this. "Right... Gotta clean up the mess that is Tsubasa's room..."

"Maybe I can help you two?" Miku asks. "Since Hibiki's going to be busy with this mission, having something to do will help keep me from worrying too much about her."

"Sure thing, Miku-chan." Serena said, accepting Miku's offer to help. "But fair warning, it's going to be really messy in her room."

"I'm sure it's not that bad." Miku replies innocently, which the Idol and assistant manager laugh at.

A/N: With that, we end this intermission story.

I know it seems out of nowhere to bring the Bavarian Illuminati into the story this early, but I wanted to make a teaser for what was in store for the later parts of the story. As for the "Experiment" that was mentioned, I'm afraid more on them won't be said in great detail until Part 5... But I hope this is enough to pique your interest for when the time comes.

As for the pacing of the timeskips, I wanted to be able to end this where Part 3 will start, so apologies for any confusions caused by that.

Thank you again for reading. I shall see you all in Part 3!
