"Who let her do that? I want the name of the person and then I want them fired."
Olivia listened to Fitz on the phone for the past three hours with the bank trying to figure out what had happened. With his credit cards declined and the money taken out of his checking account, she knew Mellie had something to do with this. She'd never seen Fitz this angry about anything, even when he should be demolishing someone, he remained calm. This was different. Fitz yelled through the phone to several people at the bank and his tone was getting angrier with every time he was put on hold. Finally, he was off the phone. Liv watched through the glass as he hung his head and rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands.
"How can I help?" She asked standing in the doorway to his office with her arms crossed.
"Go back in time and convince me not to marry her," Fitz answered not looking up at her.
"As much as I would love that, my time machine is in the shop for repairs. What can I do to help? I'll give it my best shot, just tell me what you need."
Fitz looked up at her, his shoulders still slumped. "There's nothing you can do. She took my name off the accounts and canceled my cards. Now I've got to go talk to accounting to not put anything into that account."
"I think you should call Jerry. He could cut her off and get you your accounts back."
"I'm not turning to my dad because Mellie caused a problem for me, Liv. I'll take care of it myself. I don't need his help. Nor do I want his help. The last thing I need right now is a 'told you so' from him."
"What are you going to do in the meantime? The hotel already brought your things over."
"Right now, I'm going to talk to accounting and have them stop any payments going into the account. That's all I can do."
As Fitz put his phone in his pocket, Olivia sat on the edge of his desk a foot away from him. "And after work? What then? Because that's in an hour."
"I'll spend the night here."
"I've slept on that couch and it's not comfortable. Your dad won't be…"
"I am not going to my father's, Olivia."
"Fine, fine, so touchy." She hesitated to continue for a minute worried she may be over stepping. "You could crash at my place."
"I'm not going to inconvenience you but thank you."
"It wouldn't be. There's plenty of room for you to spend a few nights at my place."
Giving it some thought for a couple of minutes, he finally looked up to her. "That could benefit both of us. I'd have a place to stay for a couple days, and you'd be able to get a couple nights of good sleep."
"Oh, Fitz… yeah, it doesn't work like that. There's a bit more…"
"What else could it be? If I stay the night at your apartment, then you'll have someone there with you. You'll be just fine."
Olivia wanted to explain but before she could say a word, he was out the door heading to the accounting department. While he was out, she finished her work that needed to be done and prepared her bag for the weekend of things that she would need to work on. Waiting for Fitz to come back, she got her desk organized and made a phone call.
"I'm still coming over tonight, don't worry."
"Thanks Huck, but there's been a change in plans. You don't need to come over this weekend. Spend it with Kim and Javi. How's my little man anyway?"
"Kicking my ass at soccer. I swear that kid could make a goal from three miles away," Huck laughed.
Liv loved hearing about her godson, she wouldn't miss any of his games and always made sure he had the best of everything in his life. "Maybe you're just getting old and can't keep up with him."
"I am not old. And stop trying to distract me. I've already talked to Jerry today. So, why are you changing the plans? He said you haven't slept in over a week. Kim is taking Javi to her parents' house for the weekend anyway."
"Fitz is going to spend the weekend. He needs a place to stay for a bit."
"And you think having your boss there at your apartment to help you sleep is a good idea? Liv, you really need to think that through. It's one thing for me or Jerry to spend the night but Fitz is a different story. He doesn't know how to help you."
Letting out a breath, Liv stared up at the ceiling. "I'm not going to sleep. And before you try to argue with me, I've already made up my mind. Go see your in-laws with Kim. You deserve a nice family weekend. Don't worry about the coffee shop. The crew knows how to manage for a couple days without you."
"Alright," Huck sighed, "but I want you to know that I think this is a bad idea. Both you not sleeping this weekend and Fitz staying with you. They are both bad ideas."
"Noted, but everything will be fine."
Just as she hung up, Fitz came in going to his office. "Accounting was an easy fix. Wish I could say the same for the bank."
"I still think you could have Jerry help you. If he cut her off, she would return the money to the account then…"
"I don't want him part of this. I'll find a way to get at least some of it back. She is unfortunately entitled to half of it."
"Alright, fine. I'm heading out now. Do you want me to wait for you or have Henry drive you to my place?"
"Go ahead home, I'll get Henry to drive me. I'm going to make a few more calls and see what I can do about the bank. I can grab dinner on the way unless you have other plans," Fitz asked her.
Shutting down her computer and gathering her things on her arm, she shook her head no. "Just the normal Friday night round up. I'll see you in a bit then."
Heading home, Olivia made a mental list of the things she would need to do before Fitz would be there. Her apartment was never a mess per say but she did have things scattered about. Arriving at home, she put her bags on her table in the dining room and looked around the room. Spare bedroom. He'll want to sleep there. Make the bed. Going to the spare bedroom, Liv put together the bed making it up for Fitz when he was ready to sleep. She made sure he would have everything he could need in the room. When the buzzer sounded, she hit the button to let him up after making sure it was him and stood in the hallway so he wouldn't miss the apartment.
"I thought it was a few bags?" Liv laughed as Fitz and Henry brought up his suitcases and a couple boxes.
"It was, but that's not including what was in the car."
Liv grabbed a couple of the bags from him and led them into the spare room. "Thanks Henry. See you Monday."
"Have a good weekend, Ms. Pope," Henry shook her hand and leaned forward to her. "Good luck with that one."
Olivia smiled and let him out of the apartment closing the door behind him. She went back to the living room and found Fitz looking around.
"Well, welcome in," she smiled standing behind the chair.
"This isn't how I pictured your apartment," Fitz laughed looking out the window towards the Washington Monument. Her view from the twentieth floor was incredible. The floor to ceiling window gave a fantastic view of the Monument and the Lincoln Memorial and beyond. The furniture in her living room was darker than he imagined. Wandering into the kitchen and dining room, Fitz loved how much room she had for everything. "You actually live alone?"
"Yes, why?"
"This place is way too big for one person. You could get lost in that hallway alone," he waved towards the bedrooms.
"I manage to find it," she laughed. "You skipped lunch today, you must be hungry. What would you like?"
"Something other than a salad for you. Let me take you to dinner."
"No, absolutely not. You're my guest, I'll take you to dinner. Where would you like?"
Forgetting for a moment that he didn't have money at the time, Fitz shook his head a bit embarrassed. "Are you sure this is okay, Liv? I don't want to be any trouble for you."
"It's alright. I wouldn't have offered if I didn't mean it. What would you like? Pizza? Steak? Italian?"
"Pizza sounds great. Order in tonight?"
"Sure, I'll place the order. Why don't you go get your room the way you want it? You can move things around if you need to."
Fitz left her in the kitchen and headed into the bedroom but first noticed the disaster of her dining room. "What's all this here?" Fitz called over to her standing at the table. Many different files and prints scattered the dining room table and on the wall were four calendars all color coded separately. "What do you need four calendars for?"
Walking into the dining room, Liv stopped him as he was moving some of the folders around. "Don't touch anything, please." She smiled when he threw his hands up and took a step back. "Thanks. I use this as my home office. Each calendar is a different person. Makes it easier for me to keep track of things."
"You're tracking people? Stalker. Didn't you just have a conniption about me tracking you?" Fitz asked with a smile as he went over to the wall. "Who are these people?"
"I have permission to 'stalk' them. I need to know where they are." Liv pointed to a calendar in red. "This one's you. All your appointments and court dates and lunch dates. I know where you need to be whenever." Pointing at the white one, "this one is me." She continued down the line to the yellow one. "This is Jerry." And the last green one. "This is Huck." Turning to see him look them over again.
"I thought you didn't keep track of my dad?"
"I don't keep track of his appointments or things like that. Only when he's out of town and when he's able to come over."
Fitz went back to her calendar. "There's nothing from this morning. You didn't tell me why you were in Maryland."
"Because that's on a need-to-know basis and you aren't on the need to know list."
"Who knows why you were there? Who's on the list?"
"Fitz, you don't need to concern yourself with that. You're on the list under certain circumstances."
"Like if you'll be late for work?"
"Look, I'm sorry I was late. I thought I had enough time to get there and back before you come to work. It was a one-time thing and I'll schedule them at another time."
"Okay, okay! I'm not going to push. But can I ask if you're alright?"
"You can and I am. I'm going to order dinner. Make yourself at home." Taking a seat in at the table, she called in an order while Fitz went to the room.
Fitz started taking out his suits that needed to be hung up and opened the closet door. The closet was a good size for a spare smaller second bedroom as it ran the length of the wall. "Hey, Liv? Where can I hang up my suits?"
Hearing his question, she was a tad confused. "Closet."
"Yeah, there's no room in there."
Liv went into the bedroom to see what he was talking about and saw the doors open revealing all the rest of her clothes. "Sorry, I forgot about those. I'll get rid of them."
"It's alright, I can make room," Fitz laughed.
"Just give me a second and I'll get them out of here."
Watching her remove hanging clothes, Fitz could see almost all of them still had tags on them. "Did you plan on wearing these?"
"At some point, but I bought these years ago. I forgot I put those in here."
Trying to fight the smirk on his face, Fitz failed. "You buy clothes and stuff them in a closet?"
"Ha, ha, you think you're so funny." Liv grabbed as many as she could and took them to her room, setting them on the bed and returning for more.
Fitz grabbed a couple towards the back of the closet and took them out. Seeing the shimmer of writing on a bag behind everything. Fitz grabbed the bag and pulled it out unzipping it to see what was in it.
"Liv? Why do you have a wedding dress in the back of your closet?"
