Many months went by after Derek was brought back to his home. He was able to finish with his schooling by his ancestors and Winston. It was during the summertime in early August when he and Winston were having breakfast. Derek was reading the newspaper called the Daily Prophet of things going on in the Wizarding World.

The latest news was the learning of an escape criminal named Sirius Black.

"Hey Winston, what do you know of this man?" Derek asked him.

"That is Sirius Black Master Derek. Sirius Black was convicted into being the one that killed the Potter's the night He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named fell and disappeared. The very next day, Sirius Black caused an explosion in London that killed twelve muggles and a wizard named Peter Pettigrew. Sirius was sentenced to life in Azkaban for his crimes, although it is odd since he and the Potter's were very close friends." Winston explained.

Derek raised his eyebrow from that. It wouldn't make sense that Sirius, a friend, would turn on them. Unless he had a reason for doing so, Derek knew that something was wrong.

"And now he's on the loose. Perhaps finishing up with his masters plan?" Derek asked.

"Very likely Master Derek. Now then, Juan Shafiq will be here fairly soon. I have made preparations for us all to get to Diagon Alley today." Winston said.

"Alright. Let's clean up and then we'll get ready." Derek said.

An hour later, Juan arrived at the manor. Derek and Winston waited by the entrance in the foyer.

"Morning Derek, Winston." Juan said with a smile.

"Everything is ready sir." Winston said.

"Alright. Derek, we will be getting to a place called the Leaky Cauldron via portkey. We will be using this." Juan said as he pulled out a scabbard from his back.

"That scabbard is magical? And what's a portkey?" Derek asked.

"A portkey is a powerful magical object that allows a group to magically teleport to one location specifically. It's kinda like the Apparition and Disapparition a while back only more precise. Now then, are you ready?" Juan asked while readying the scabbard.

"I am ready. But how am I to pay for all of these things?" Derek asked.

"Grab on and I'll show you." Juan said.

Derek and Winston grabbed the scabbard and they felt their bodies being yanked away. Derek could feel like he was being pulled towards the location in an uncomfortable way.

After a little bit, Derek fell onto a paved ground with Juan and Winston standing by him.

"I guess I should stick with Apparition thank you." Derek said while recovering.

"Master Derek should be slower while standing, otherwise Master will get dizzier." Winston said with concern.

"Bet that also got your body pumping and your adrenaline moving, eh?" Juan asked.

They stepped out of a room inside the Leaky Cauldron. As they were heading for Diagon Alley, they saw a large cat chasing a rat. Just as the rat ran by, Derek's eyes glowed for a brief moment, but he felt it.

'Ugh. Plutonia? Was that a new ability?' Derek asked her in his head.

'Yes. This is what I like to call Magical Fraud. This will allow you to see any and all imposters that are hiding in animal forms, also known as Animagi, self-transfigured into anything to hide, and even invisibility.' She explained.

"Uh…enjoy your breakfast!" Derek called out to the cat chasing the imposter of the rat.

"That was rather unexpected. Anyway, shall we proceed?" Juan asked.

"Oh yeah! Can't wait to see what more is in store." Derek said with excitement.

As they were making their way through the Leaky Cauldron, Derek thought more of what he sensed.

'So Plutonia, Animagi, tell me about that could you?' Derek thought.

'An Animagus is a witch or a wizard that can transform into an animal at will. Learning how to do it is very difficult to the point of disastrous if done wrong. You can learn to do that at Hogwarts, but not till your later years and properly registered. Think you might like to be one?' She asked.

'Probably not. I'm betting there's a side effect of being an animal for too long. I think I'll pass on that knowledge.' He said.

They then reached the back of the Leaky Cauldron where they saw a wall in front of them. Juan then took his wand and tapped the wall on a few specific bricks. The bricks began to move in front of them and they made an opening.

"Derek, welcome to Diagon Alley." Juan said as they entered a long shopping district with many shops left and right.

"Winston never gets tired of this place Master Derek. Winston used to come here with other house-elves to get some comfort and company during the first wizarding war and afterwards." Winston explained.

"I can tell why. This place is amazing. So Juan, you said that you'll show me how I am to pay for all of these school supplies?" Derek asked.

"Look straight ahead Derek. That there is Gringotts Wizarding Bank. If you ever need something stored like money, or even priceless artifacts, this is the place to keep them." Juan said as they approached a white building with lopsided support beams by the entrance.

"Master, is it alright if Winston stays outside? Winston has a bit of a phobia for goblins." Winston asked.

"Goblins?" Derek asked.

"They run the bank here. They are rather clever, but not the friendliest of beasts. This reminds me, you'll need this." Juan said as he dug into his pocket and gave Derek a golden key.

"Nice. Okay, Winston you can stay outside if you want. Hopefully we shouldn't be too long. We'll get what I need, and you stay out of trouble." Derek said while looking down at Winston.

"Of course Master. Winston will be at Rosa Lee Teabag getting some tea with other house-elves." Winston said before he disappeared.

"You gotta hand it to him. Winston knows his way around the place. Now Derek, listen very carefully." Juan said as he got down to his height. "You have to be very careful not to say or do anything stupid inside. You step out of line; they will not take it likely. Just stay close and speak only when spoken to. Do you understand?" Juan asked with a serious tone.

"Yes Juan." Derek said.

They entered the bank and Derek saw how amazing the inside of the place is. There were massive chandeliers on the ceilings, long rows of desk with what he can assume are goblins, and large golden cages at the end of the hall.

They reached the end of the hall at a taller desk where an elder goblin was working at. The goblin slowly looked at Juan. This was the head goblin.

"Morning sir." Juan said in a polite voice.

"Ah, Juan Shafiq. We noticed that your kind brought more security to our bank. Sirius Black I presume?" The goblin asked with a threatening tone.

"That's right. If it makes you feel any better, it'll make things easier. Anyway, Mr. Derek Night wishes to make a withdrawal." Juan said.

"Mr. Night? The final descendant of Alexander and Emilia Night?" The goblin asked as he looked down at Derek. "And do you have the key?" He asked him.

"Oh yeah right." Derek said as he quickly pulled out the key and showed him.

The head goblin took it and examined it.

"This key is indeed to the vault. However, we had to relocate the contents within to a more secured vault." He said.

"When did this happen?" Juan asked.

"Shortly after his parent's death. Turns out there were more valuable items in there that You-Know-Who could want from within it. Ragnok, check them!" The goblin ordered one of his own goblins.

The goblin Ragnok approached them and used his own kind of magic. He raised a figure at Derek and pulled his finger down in front of him. He did the same to Juan.

"They are clean." He said.

"Very well. Griphook!" The head goblin called out. Another goblin arrived from the call. "The Night vault. The new one." He said to him.

"Yes sir." Griphook said as he went to make preparations.

"What did they just do to us?" Derek asked.

"What we just did for our safety you mean. We had to make sure you wizards weren't imposters. Especially since the break in that happened a couple years ago. That's none of your concerns though." Ragnok explained.

"Wouldn't think of it." Derek agreed.

Griphook took Derek and Juan towards carts that would take them to the vaults. Once they gotten strapped in, Griphook activated the cart and they began to speed up into the caverns underneath. Going down the caverns like that made Derek feel like he was on a roller coaster.

While they were going down the caverns, Derek's eyes began to glow again, this time around longer and brighter. Derek grunted and squinted his eyes from the burning feeling he was having. It lasted for a near minute until it finally died away.

'Plutonia, that one lasted longer! Why do I get the feeling that it has greater power than the previous magical abilities put together?' Derek yelled in his mind.

'This is very odd. I thought you weren't going to learn this move until later on in your life. I'll just say that this is for battles.' She said.

"Derek!? Are you alright!?" Juan yelled at him while noticing that his eyes were squinting.

Derek came around when he yelled at him.

"Yeah I'm okay! I wonder how much further!" Derek wondered.

"We are halfway there!" Griphook called out.

After about another few minutes, they came to their stop. The cart made a rather harsh stop.

"Yeesh! I always wondered if I was gonna lose any body parts from those stops." Juan said as they exited the cart. "Whoa, I never have been this far down." Juan said as he saw the surrounding area where there were stalactites and pillars of limestone all around.

Suddenly, there was a loud roar nearby. Derek went behind Juan from the very sound and began shaking.

"What's that?" Derek asked.

"That would be our guardian of these vaults. Stay close." Griphook said as they made their way towards Derek's vault.

As they reached the location of multiple vaults, Derek's eyes shrank and heart stopped from shock. They saw a massive black dragon with purple eyes. It had a long spiked tail and large wings.

"Is that…a dragon?" Derek whispered while holding Juan tighter.

"Yes, specifically a Hebridean Black." Juan said.

"Here, you'll need this." Griphook said as he took two large chunks of meat and gave one of them to Juan.

The dragon smelled their presence and faced them. Griphook took the first meat and chucked it at one part of the vault. It ran to it and ate it. Just then, it lay down and dozed off a bit.

"We use a very powerful sleeping draught to drug the dragon. We'll need that last batch of cattle meat to get out." Griphook explained.

They began to make their way past the dozed off dragon and up some steps. Derek continued to look towards the dragon and hoped it didn't wake up while it snorted out flames. He didn't pay attention as the steps were a bit narrow. Suddenly, he slipped off the step and fell.

"DEREK!" Juan shouted in fright as Derek landed on the ground, waking the dragon.

Derek quickly got up and saw the dragon eyeing him and growled. Derek's eyes widen, and began to glow bright. The light began to get smaller and brighter as it stopped at his pupils. Derek felt his eyes feeling strange while this happened.

The dragon then opened its mouth and inhaled. Before it could breathe fire, a blast of light shot out of Derek's eyes and hit the back of the dragon's mouth. The dragon roared in pain and fell backwards while Derek screeched in pain as his eyes felt like they were on fire.

'Plutonia! What happened!?' Derek asked her.

'That was the new power that you gained on the way down. That's what we used for offense and defense against our enemies. Although I didn't use it much myself, it can be quite handy for getaways and injuring vicious creatures.' She explained.

"Derek! Are you alright!?" Juan asked as he and Griphook got to him and pulled him to safety.

"Talk to us." Griphook asked as Derek rubbed his eyes, trying to get them to stop burning.

"Give me a moment." Derek whimpered a bit as he was feeling the burn fade.

"What was that?" Juan asked.

"Absolutely no idea. This was a first to me." Derek answered as he opened his eyes, which still glowed a bit, surprising the both of them, Griphook a lot.

After a bit, Derek was in no pain and they made their way towards the vault. Griphook used his powers to unlock the vault. Derek and Juan heard many locks click and other metals being moved around behind. The door opened.

Derek's eyes widened as he saw several massive piles of gold, silver and bronze coins all over the place, and many artifacts that seemed to be several centuries old. Not only that, but there was also another portrait inside.

"Alright Derek, let me break it down to you what these currencies are. The gold coins are called Galleons, the silver coins are Sickles, and the bronze coins are Knuts. You'll be using Galleons a lot, so I recommend taking some of that." Juan explained.

"Can do. By the way, what's with the portrait?" Derek asked as he approached the portrait. "Hello?" Derek asked the portrait.

As if it was on cue, Alexander and Emilia arrived.

"Hello son. Good to see that you made it safely." Emilia said.

"Had to deal with a dragon, and an unusual and unexpecting power that I used, but yeah we're safe." Derek said.

"A power? What kind?" Alexander asked.

"I think I just shot some sort of laser beams out of my eyeballs in the dragon's throat. It's really weird and completely strange, but this is true." Derek answered.

"I believe you. Now then, I recommend that you take a handful of each of the coins you are seeing. Diagon Alley may have some things that you may like to have, not just what you need." Alexander explained.

"Alright. Thanks dad." Derek said.

After Derek gotten what he needed, the three of them left the vault and were heading back up to the surface. Derek saw the dragon that he blasted still on the ground. He knew that it was still alive, but was hurt. He actually felt a little sorry about it.

When they returned to the surface, Derek and Juan were on the verge of leaving.

"Derek, wait a moment." Griphook said. Derek looked down at him with a raised eyebrow. "I got to admit, I never seen anything like what you did down there. You've earned my respects from that performance." Griphook said with a small smile.

Juan was shocked when he said that.

"Really? I'm flattered." Derek said.

"You ever need a job at Gringotts after Hogwarts; we may have a spot for you as a curse breaker, or for security with that power." Griphook said.

"I'll keep that in mind. But for now, thanks for all that you do." Derek said as he shook hands with Griphook, who returned it proudly. This surprised Juan more.

After they left, Juan stopped Derek.

"Do you have any idea what you just did?" Juan asked him.

"What do you mean?" Derek asked with a confused look.

"There has barely been any form of respects like that for so long with wizards and goblins. Just hate thinking that they'll use you for their own purposes." Juan explained.

"Don't worry. I got you guys. I'm sure things will be just fine in the end. Let's go find Winston and look around." Derek suggested.

They eventually arrived at Rosa Lee Teabag's and they saw Winston talking to other house-elves like he said he would.

"Winston. Hey there Winston." Derek said as he joined his house-elf.

"Master Derek. Master Derek and Juan Shafiq were there longer than Winston thought." Winston said.

"Turns out I got a new vault that is further down than we thought. Anyway, you ready to go?" Derek asked.

"Of course master. Let Winston quickly pay for the tea and Winston will join Master Derek." Winston said as he got up and paid at the counter.

For hours, the three of them went all around Diagon Alley to get all of Derek's school supplies, cauldrons, robes, books, almost everything.

"Looks like my wand is next." Derek said while looking down at his list.

"Well this place here is where you'll want to go. Welcome to Ollivanders. Makers of fine wands since 382 B.C." Juan said as they entered arguably the oldest shop in Diagon Alley.

As they entered, the noise turned extremely quiet. Derek saw how old and dusty the place was and saw boxes stacked all over the place.

"Good afternoon." An old man sitting on a desk spoke to them. The man had grey hair, pale eyes, and wore an old dark red dress robe. He had ragged red pants and black shoes.

"Mr. Ollivander. Good to see you again." Juan said to him.

"Ah, Juan Shafiq. It has been a while. Last time I saw you, you were hunting down a few death eaters some years ago. Aspen wood, unicorn hair, twelve and a quarter inches and reasonably pliant." Ollivander said.

Derek was amazed on how well he identified his godfather's wand like he studied it for years.

"And you dear boy, is this your first time?" Ollivander asked Derek.

"That's right." Derek said.

"Last name please." Ollivander requested as he was getting out a magical tape measure.

"Night." Derek answered.

Ollivander smiled a bit from that name.

"You wouldn't happen to be the descendant of an Alexander and Emilia Night would you?" He asked again.

"That's right." Derek answered.

"I wondered when I would be seeing you Derek Night. Glorious wands they had. Now, which is your wand hand?" Ollivander asked. Derek held out his left arm. Ollivander began measuring it. "Your father had a hawthorn, dragon heartstring, and fourteen inches and very durable wand. Your mother had a dogwood, unicorn hair, and eleven inches and quite a swishy wand. Always brings joy to see that kind of wand being sold for I have learned that dogwood wands have quite the playful nature, just like your mother." He explained.

"I wonder what kind of wand I'll have." Derek thought out loud.

"Just remember this: the wand chooses the wizard Mr. Night. While it's not clear as to why, but in my years of studying wandlore, I have discovered many hidden talents each wand paired with the right wielder can show the world." Ollivander said before going towards a shelf and pulled out a red dusty box. "Let's start off with this one. Ash wood, dragon heartstring, thirteen and a half inches, unyielding." He said as he handed the wand to Derek.

Derek looked at the wand for a moment.

"Give it a wave." Juan said.

Derek did just that, but the wand flew out of his hand. Ollivander quickly caught it.

"Apparently this one has a thing against you." Ollivander said before going over to a new shelve. He pulled out a black box with a new wand. "Let's give this one a try. Redwood, phoenix feather, ten inches, reasonably pliant." Ollivander said as he handed him the next wand.

Derek took the wand and gave it another twirl. A small bit of magic came out, but it made a farting sound as it shot out the magic, disgusting them all.

"Eugh." Derek as he placed the wand down.

"I couldn't have said that better myself Mr. Night. But no matter, we will find the right wand before the day is through." Ollivander said as he did a rinse and repeat with the shelves and wands.

After good few minutes and going through multiple wands, Derek began to take notice that Ollivander seems to be enjoying the struggle of finding the right wand, confusing him. He decided to measure him one last time. This time around, he outstretched his arm.

Just then, they began to hear the sound of what appeared to be something struggling to get out. Ollivander listened carefully while trying to find out where the sound was coming from. He saw a yellow box kind of bouncing a bit. He took the box and opened it.

Suddenly, the wand shot out of the box and went right to Derek. Derek caught the wand. As his fingers held it, a warming feeling came to him. Derek gave it a twirl in the air and a beautiful ray of magic appeared. The dust all around began to dissipate as if the place was getting a spring cleaning.

"Well I'll be! This is definitely a first for me. The wand went to you as if it sensed your presence. This is wonderful dear boy!" Ollivander said with excitement.

"Winston always knew that Master Derek was rather special." Winston said.

Ollivander examined the wand and smiled bigger.

"Ah yes. This is a larch wood, phoenix feather, thirteen inches, and quite a swishy wand. Quite the wonderful wand." Ollivander explained.

"I have to agree. I wonder…" Derek thought as he outstretched his arm for the wand. The wand jumped out of Ollivander's hand and Derek caught it. "Ha HAAA! That is amazing. Is this normal?" Derek asked.

"No, it's not. I guess you have the Summoning Charm as an add-on to you or something." Juan said with curiosity.

"Well then, with that wand it will cost seven Galleons." Ollivander said. Derek paid for it immediately. "It has been a pleasure working with you Mr. Night. May your magic and your heart guide you to a wonderful journey." Ollivander said just before they exited.

Derek looked down the list and knew the last thing he needed, an owl. They went off to the Magical Menagerie to see some of the other animals that he could get like a cat or a toad. They then went to the Eeylops Owl Emporium to see the variety of owls that are there.

As Derek was looking around, he came across a beautiful brown owl with patches of blue on its feathers. It had large orange eyes that gazed at Derek. Suddenly after looking at each other for a moment, the owl expanded its large wings and flew to Derek's shoulder, surprising him a bit. Its bright yellow talons dug into his shirt a bit to stabilize its balance on him. It then gave off a slight hawk-like screech and nuzzled Derek's head.

"Hey buddy. You want to come along with me?" Derek asked it. The owl cooed while ruffling its feathers. "Well then, let's go." Derek said as he met up with Juan, who was watching Derek pick out his owl.

"That's an odd species of an owl that I've never seen before." Juan said while admiring the owl.

Just then, the manager of the shop approached them when he saw the owl.

"Interesting. This unique hawkowl usually never likes anyone but my associate that rescued her about a year ago. It seems to take quite a liking to you, almost like love at first sight." The manager said.

"Either that or I'm just really good with animals. One of the other. So, tell me a little about her." Derek requested.

"But of course. That there is a rare hawkowl, only about a thousand left on the planet according to bird watchers here in the Wizarding World. They are some of the most intelligent owls that you will ever come across. This one is three years old, almost reaching her full size. She will have a wingspan of nearly six feet and can get up to twelve inches in length. Her hawk like appearance head can see to a great distance and usually eats small animals like rats, and lizards. They can reach speeds up to eighty miles an hour in regular flight, but can even reach up to one hundred and forty miles an hour at diving speed, making them one of the most predatorily pet owls one can own. They have exquisite hearing as well. One owner called out for this species up to half a mile away with a strong whistle sound." He explained to them.

Derek looked at the hawkowl with amazement. He also couldn't believe that this rare owl that was a deadly bird of prey chose him to perch on.

"She will come in handy. How much are we talking?" Derek asked.

"Well, since she is a rare bird and hard to come by, twenty-five Galleons." He said.

"I'll take her." He said while paying right off the bat.

"Alright. You take good care of her. Here is her cage and a few owl treats. So what are you gonna name her?" The manager asked.

Derek thought about it for a bit, but then he had the perfect name.

"I shall name her Orphelia." Derek said.

"A wonderful choice. Come Derek, let's get you home." Juan said as they collected everything and headed back to the Leaky Cauldron.

Juan picked up the scabbard from his back and they grabbed it, returning back to the manor instantly.

After Juan left shortly afterwards, Derek and Winston sorted everything out and Derek let Orphelia out so she can get to know the place both in and outside. Winston also created a perch for her so she can rest at from time to time.

That night, Derek sat by his window with Orphelia next to him after she gotten a snack outside. Derek thought more of what Hogwarts will be like, and hoped that he will fit in well. After stroking Orphelia's cheek a bit, he went to bed and Orphelia went back to her perch.

As August was coming closer to its end, Derek's first term at Hogwarts was getting closer. What will Derek expect when he gets there? Will he fit in? What will his reaction be when he sees Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry be? Find out next time as he arrives at Platform 9¾ for the first time as the story continues.

And Diagon Alley has been visited and things are ready to go for Derek's first year at Hogwarts. As for his attack he used on the dragon earlier, I shall call it Prismatic Pulse. If anyone can think of a better name, let me know in the reviews. Thank you for reading and we will be heading off for Hogwarts next time. TheD-Rock900 is signing off, see you next time.
