Episode 29: Hazbin Therapy
One afternoon at Stolas' mansion, Amara is actually in her bedroom as she lets out a sad sigh. She actually hasn't left her room through most of the day and spends her day off just lying in bed, looking at her phone, listening to her music, or just simply doing nothing.
Amara sadly asks herself, "Mirror… Why… Why would you do this…?
Recap: Mirror was actually Amara's music teacher. Back then, Amara was his number one student and very encouraging of Amara's singing voice. However, Mirror has stalked her, tried to kidnap her and even go so far as to try to abduct her and kill her adopted parents in the process. He even shot her with an angelic weapon. And the most shocking of all is that it's revealed what Mirror has kidnapped Amara with Orpheus from her family when she's a baby, and it's revealed that Amara was Stolas' daughter.
Since then, despite being able to continue living her life and carry on her routine, Amara feels badly hurt and betrayed to learn what Mirror has done to her, her birth family, and her adopted family.
Amara continues to lie down on the bed and looks very depressed and she is on the verge of tears.
Meanwhile, just outside of the room, Stolas walks over to the room to hear sniffling and sobbing coming from Amara's room. He gently opens the door and peeks inside to see Amara in her bed. He is sad to hear Amara is sobbing and notices her turning her head to notice tears coming down her face. Stolas sadly sighs as he leaves the room and closes the door. Just then, Octavia and Roy walk over.
"Hey dad, what's going on?" Octavia asks.
"Hi Stolas," Roy happily says.
"Hello Octavia. Roy," Stolas says, and looks at Amara's bedroom door with a sad look on his face.
"What's wrong?" Octavia asks.
"Um, have you noticed that Amara has been kind of well…" Stolas tries to explain.
But Octavia answers, "Depressed?"
"Yes. She's been deep in thought and also very sad. I think something is really bothering her. She's been like this for days," Stolas explains.
"I've noticed it too. I asked her if she wanted to come with me to Stylish Occult, but she said no with a sad sigh. She seems very bothered by something, but not sure what it is," Octavia says.
"I wonder what is bothering her. I do hope it's not too serious," Stolas says, showing concern.
Suddenly, Roy lets out a sad sigh and answers, "I know why she's depressed."
"And what's that?" Octavia asks.
Roy then says, "We better head to the kitchen. I don't want Amara to hear us."
Stolas and Octavia look at each other with confused looks, and decide to follow Roy anyway. Soon, the three are in the kitchen, far enough from Amara's sight and hearing range.
"So Roy, do you think you can tell us what's bothering Amara?" Stolas asks.
Roy reaches into his pocket and pulls out a photograph that has been ripped in half and is tapped together.
"What's this?" Stolas asks.
"The source of Amara's sadness," Roy says, and presents it to the two.
Stolas and Octavia look at the photograph to see a picture of Amara when she's a child, probably 8 to 10 years old, along with Mirror at a younger age.
"That's Amara… but who's that with her?" Octavia asks.
Seeing Mirror's face, Stolas eyes narrow into a vicious glare and his face darkens bitterly.
"Uh dad, are you okay?" Octavia asks.
"What's wrong, Stoals?" Roy asks.
Stolas takes a deep breath and sighs, "I'm sorry, but seeing that Imp brought back bad memories. I remember his face all too well when he and Orpheus kidnapped Amara was not very pleasant.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that," Roy says, feeling guilty for bringing back bad memories for Stolas.
Stolas quickly says, "No no, it's okay Roy. I should have been more careful to show my bitter emotions like that."
"I know. I remember Amara telling me about what happened. It was really tough to learn the truth, especially for Amara," Roy says.
"How so?" Stolas asks.
"Well, Mirror was her favorite teacher in school. He teaches music to the students, and out of all the students, Amara was his favorite. He even encouraged her to perform a few times. This picture was taken when Amara won first place in a talent show when she was nine. She was very happy and admired Mirror. Until the stalking incident and her abduction attempt. She couldn't believe Mirror would do that because she always admired Mirror, she was afraid to confront him back then. And then, the incident that led to our parents death and Amara losing most of her limbs. And now, to know that Mirror and Orphues was the reason why she was abducted from you and was going to be used, really upset her," Roy explains.
He then gently takes the picture from Stolas and says, "I saw Amara with this picture the other day and looks at it with deep sadness and tears falling down her face. She then slowly tears it in half and drops it on the floor. I was able to grab it and pick it up when she left."
Then Roy says his theory, "I think Amara feels depressed because she was hurt and betrayed by Mirror's actions, and that she feels that everything about Mirror and relationship with him was nothing but a lie."
"I think I understand. Even though Mirror is her enemy, back then, he was someone Amara was close to. And realizing everything he has done to hurt her, Amara has been badly hurt," Stolas sadly says.
In concern, Octavia asks, "Isn't there something we can do for her. I imagine it's hard enough to learn that she's a Goeita, and was a princess who's been abducted."
Stolas thinks about it and an idea comes to his mind, "I think I know who might be able to help her. Plus, it will be nice for Amara to see a familiar face."
He then reaches for the phone, "Now, I think I can make an arrangement."
"Uh, what do you have in mind?" Octavia asks.
"You'll see. I think she might be able to help Amara talk about her troubles and what she can do about it," Stolas says, dialing the number.
Roy turns to Octavia and asks "So who does Stolas have in mind?"
"I have no idea," Octavia answers.
"Don't worry, I'm sure this is just the thing Amara needs," Stolas says.
Soon, Stolas is on the line with someone and says, "Hello Charlie, do you think you can squeeze in with your therapy session in your hotel? I have a patient that is in dire need of your service."
And the next day, The three owls and the little Imp travel in the I.M.P van with Blitz and the others. After calling Charlie, Stolas calls Blitz to give them a ride. Of course, Stolas has to persuade Blitz to assist, not that there's much to do for it. Now, they're on their way to Pentagram City to the Hazbin Hotel.
"Remind me again why we have to tag along?" Loona asks.
"Uh, because you all agreed to support her, and you're getting paid for it," Roy answers.
"That sounds about right," Moxxie replies.
Stolas turns to Blitz, "Thank you for taking us to the hotel, Blitz."
"It's no problem. Besides, it's probably best for the kid to get some help," Blitz says.
Then asks, "So why Charlie's hotel of all places?"
"I don't see why not. Besides, Charlie is actually happy to see Amara again and is more than eager to help her out," Stolas says.
"If you say so," Blitz replies, shrugging his shoulders.
Then mutters, "I just hope we don't have a run in with that radio talk show fucker."
"I would be careful saying that around him, but I know what you mean. I don't want to be near him either," Amara says.
"Don't worry, we'll just be here for a little while and then we'll be heading back home," Stolas says.
"I hope so," Amara says, and lets out a sad sigh.
Sometime later, after the trip, the group soon arrives at the Hazbin Hotel and Blitz parks the van to the side.
Blitz climbs out the van as he shouts, "Alright then, everyone out. The sooner we get this therapy session shit over with, the sooner we can leave this run down hotel."
"Blitz, don't be mean," Roy says.
"I wouldn't let Charlie hear you say that," Octavia says.
Then mutters, "Especially her girlfriend."
"Uh, let's go see if they're there," Stolas says.
Soon, the group walks to the front door of the hotel. Stolas knocks on the door, and the door opens. The one to answer the door is little Niffty, the maid of the hotel.
"Hello everyone!" Nifty says.
She even gives a big smile and waves, "Hi Amara."
"Hi Niffty, how are you doing?" Amara replies.
"Doing fine. Charlie is very excited to see you again, and has the room all set for you," Niffty happily says.
And happily says, "And it's good to see you all too."
She then dashes past them, and pushes them into the hotel. Then quickly closes the door soon after. Niffty continues to push the group into the hotel with a big grin on her face.
Blitz shouts in anger, "Hey! Will you quit pushing us?! And how could you get all of us in at the same time."
Soon, Niffty stops pushing them and says, "I'll go get Charlie and I have to get back to cleaning," and brings out her feather duster. "See you later!"
Then Niffty dashes off with a big smile on their faces.
Amara giggles, "Niffty is still energetic as ever."
"No fuckin kidding," Loona replies.
"Amara," Charlie's voice calls out.
Amara, Roy, and the others turn to see Charlie walking over to them with a smile on her face.
"Hey Charlie," Amara says.
"I'm so glad you're able to make it. I'm very happy that you can join in for the therapy session for the hotel. And I'm pleased you've decided to come," Charlie says.
"It's no trouble Charlie," Amara says.
She then sadly says, "I do hope this will help."
"Don't worry, the Hazbin Hotel will do whatever it can to help you with your problem. Now follow me to the therapy room and we can get started," Charlie says.
"Okay," Amara says.
Amara follows Charlie as she leaves the others.
Charlie turns to the others, "In the meantime, you all make yourself comfortable. It will take a few hours."
"Will do," Millie happily says.
Blitz sighs, "Why did we agree to this again?"
"Because we're supposed to drive them to the hotel," Moxxie says.
"And we agreed to support her," Millie adds with a smile.
"I guess you're right. Still, you think the kid is going to be okay?" Blitz replies.
"I'm sure she'll be fine. And Charlie will let me know if Amara needs support," Stolas says.
Octavia turns to where Amara and Charlie walk off, "I do hope she'll be okay."
In the therapy room, there are some books on a bookshelf, a desk, a chair, table, and a fainting couch, and there is a lamp on a small piece of furniture. There's also a chair next to the fainting couch.
"That's a nice room you got," Amara says.
"Thanks. I've kind of decorated myself, but Vaggie advises me on what to use," Charlie says.
"I see," Amara says.
Then asks, "So where is Vaggie? And the others for that matter?"
"Well, Husk went out. Angel has work. Alastor went out," Charlie says.
"Sorry to be honest, but I'm kind of glad that Alastor is not here. Consider what happened the last time I saw him," Amara says.
"Don't worry, Alastor won't give you any problem, and we'll be done before he gets back," Charlie says.
Then presents the fainting couch, "Here, lay down here and make yourself comfortable."
"Okay," Amara says, and lies down on the fainting couch.
"Now before we get started, I actually wanted to talk to you about something," Charlie says.
"What is it?" Amara asks.
"Well, I know this is going to be a tough subject, but Stolas shared to me a bit more about you," Charlie says.
"So then, I have to guess you know about me being…" Amara asks.
"Yes. Stolas told me about you being his long lost daughter, and about everything you've gone through. And the main reason why you're here. Also, Angel also showed me a post about your identity being exposed by Asmodeus in the Lust Ring, and word spread fast," Charlie explains.
Amara sighs, "I knew this was going to happen."
"Yeah. Sorry about that, but I did have the right to know, especially since I have my own suspicions," Charlie says.
"Really?" Amara asks.
"Yes. I thought you looked familiar. I met you and Octavia when you were babies. I used to play with you, and you really love hearing me sing. I was really upset when you suddenly disappeared, but I'm glad that you're alive and well. Despite all the physical and mental scars you have," Charlie says with a sad smile.
"Yeah. And that's kind of why we're here, to talk about one of them," Amara says.
"Yes. your father told me about you being badly hurt, by someone you trusted," Charlie says, as she takes out a notebook and pencil.
Amara sadly sighs.
Charlie sees it and says, "Perhaps we can start from there."
"Okay," Amara replies with a nod.
"Alright Amara, I'm going to ask you a few questions, and I would like you to be very honest about it. And I apologize if some of the questions will be painful for you," Charlie says.
"It's okay. Maybe talking about it will help me out," Amara says.
"Of course," Charlie says.
Then asks, "Stolas told me what happened with you and your old music teacher, Mirror. How long have you known him and how good was your relationship with him?"
"For a few years. He first became a music teacher years ago, I was around seven at the time. Many of us in Wrath, including my friends and myself, decide to take the class for fun. Mainly because it's an after school activity class. When we first met him, he was actually decent, but is a good teacher. He taught us a lot about music, and how we can work on our vocals," Amara says.
She turns her head away in sadness and says "And out of all the students, I was his prized student. He encouraged me to continue singing, even when I skipped grades and graduated from high school at an early age. He even encouraged me to take part in a show that I won first place for. Those years were few of the best years of my life. I love to sing, and I admire Mirror because he's been so encouraging and does his best to help when we need it."
"Sounds like this Mirror was a great teacher," Charlie says.
"He was," Amara turns to Charlie with a sad smile.
"How did you feel about it?" Charlie asks.
"I felt very happy and I wanted to do a lot to make him proud of me. I really admire him and part of me was thinking of starting doing music as a career, but I'm still unsure about it. I'm still unsure what I really want to do when I grow up," Amara answers.
"Well, that part takes time, and you're still seventeen. Even if you are working at a hitman company, much as I don't really like it," Charlie says.
"It's cool. Besides, it's Hell, I'll have to find ways to defend myself and Roy so being a hitman will increase my skills," Amara says.
"True. But on to the session," Charlie says.
Then asks, "How did you feel when you, uh, learned of all the bad stuff Mirror did."
"Hurt. I was badly hurt, not just physically, I was mentally crushed," Amara says.
She then sits up as she grabs hold on her pants with her hands, "When I turned eleven, Mirror started following me from home, he was sexually harrassing me, and even tried to abduct me when I was a kid. Once my family and Aaron and his parents stepped in he stopped stalking me. Sadly, that wasn't the end of that."
"The incident involved your parents death I presume," Charlie replies.
"Yes. It was the worst night of my life. When I remember it was Mirror who shot me and was responsible for my parents death, I was deeply destroyed. My brother and I miraculously, but not without the scars to remind us of it," Amara says, holding out her robotic arm.
Soon tears begin to fall from her face.
"I guess you felt deeply betrayed by Mirror's actions against you?" Charlie asks, writing the details down.
"Yes. And feeling betrayed by Mirror was one of the many problems I've been having in my head," Amara says.
Sadden, Charlie says, "I can understand from what your dad told me, about what happened at Ozzies and how you've been attacked by Mirage and other Imps working under this Orpheus."
"Yes. It's bad enough learning that Orpheus is after me, but he's the reason finding out who I really was, was so much to take in," Amara says.
Charlie writes the information down, "Yes. It must have been very difficult. I mean, finding out you're actually an Ars Goeita, so you're a princess, and such."
"Yeah. A lot to take in," Amara says with a depressed expression.
Then Amara's face grows bitter with a scowl expression, "I felt deeply hurt and betrayed by Mirror's actions, the stalking, attempted abduction, shot me and killed my parents, and learning that he worked with Orpheus to kidnap me from by birth parents the latest details that got me hating his guts now."
Charlie recoils back to see how upset and angry Amara is, and she doesn't blame her.
Then Amara explains bitterly, "I can't believe it, my music teacher was with the same demon who wants to use me for my powers and use me as some kind of servant to take control of Hell and was responsible for killing my adopted parents. And I end up meeting Orpheus the day my parents died and it turns out he's an Overlord, a leader of a gang, who had a grudge against my adopted father. And even learning the truth, my parents protected me and Roy, and still Mirror killed my parents and caused our house to get caught on fire and I lost my arm and both of my legs and got them replaced. And even that wasn't enough, Orpheus decided to send this Mirage to kidnap me and kill my brother and pals. Remember what happened to my parents really upset me that I can't bear it. I am sick and tired of being their target." Amara grows furious and suddenly begins to transform and shouts in a demonic voice. "I want them to suffer for everything they put me and my family through! I want to avenge my adopted parents by killing them with my own hands! I want to kill them with my very own hands!" I WANT TO END THEM! WHEN I FIND THEM, I'M GOING TO SEND THEM ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
Charlie falls off her chair and lands on the floor.
Charlie quickly stands up and says, "Calm down Amara! Calm down!"
Amara soon begins to heavily breathe as she reverts back to her original form. She then lies down on the fainting couch and the tears stop falling down her face that ends up turning into steam after her wrath.
Amara sighs and says, "Sorry, I kind of lost my cool there."
"It's okay. Sometimes it's good to fully express your emotions. And I can tell that after learning about your past and Mirror's betrayal had strong negative effects on you," Charlie says.
"That doesn't begin to cover how I felt about it," Amara says.
"Yeah. I have to agree," Charlie says. "I may not understand what you've gone through, but I can tell that you're deeply hurt about the whole thing."
Amara sighs, "Yeah."
"Even though you had a lot of bad experiences in your life, I'm sure you've experienced something good," Charlie says.
"Yeah. I guess I kind of did. I mean, I have great friends like Aaron, he's my best friend. And at least my Aunt Eda and my little brother are with me, and some of my other relatives. And was able to find my birth family, and good friends like you and the others. And well, good employees, even if one does tends to get on my nerves," Amara says.
"That's good. And I'm glad that you and I have become friends," Charlie says.
Amara smiles and says, "Yeah. Me too."
Charlie then says, "So, I know it might still be a bit difficult to talk about, especially learning about you being an Ars Goetia. How do you feel about that?"
"I have to admit, it's not really easy to take in, but I've learned to accept it. I may be born a princess, but I've been a rough, tough, level headed Wrath Ring local all my life. Finding out I'm supposed to be a high class, royal princess, seems a bit weird. I guess I was so upset about learning the truth of my identity and about the truth of my parents death, that I haven't thought much about it," Amara says.
She then sighs, "I admit, I wasn't too happy that my dad, Stolas, didn't tell me, but I have to understand that my dad wasn't sure if I was his daughter at first, and understand that he was badly hurt too."
"That's understandable. It was rather chaotic when someone dared to kidnap a Goetia and was never found. And now that word has got out that you're still alive, I can suspect you might have a, well, difficult time if demons start treating you like a princess. Of course, not all demons are going to be like that," Charlie says.
Amara simply plops back on the fainting couch and says, "Yeah. I almost forgot about that. If Dahlia got word of this, I'll never hear the end of it."
"Is she someone to be concerned about?" Charlie asks.
"Well, not much, but she's a pain in the ass. We get along as well as Blitz and his ex-girlfriend, Verosika. And believe me, it just shows how much we hate each other's guts," Amara says.
"How long was that?" Charlie says.
Amara narrows her eyes, "Ever since we met."
Charlie nervously giggles, "I guess your connection with Dahlia is kind of sour, huh."
"You better believe it," Amara says.
Soon, the two girls begin laughing.
"Well, I'm glad that you're able to talk to me about your problems, and it sounds like you still have a long road waiting for you," Charlie says.
"I suppose you're right. And I'm not sure if I'm going to get used to this princess life. I'll be glad if I can live my life the best I can," Amara says.
"That's the spirit," Charlie says.
Meanwhile, in the lobby, the two royal owls and the I.M.P crew are waiting for Amara and Charlie.
Blitz groans as he lies on the floor, "How long does this therapy session shit is supposed to take."
"It could take some time Blitz, especially for what Amara has been through," Moxxie says.
"Yeah. you're right, I went to a few myself, but it never took this long," Blitz says.
"Again, Amara went through a lot. I'm sure it will take a little more time," Moxxie says.
Loona types on her phone, "I'm waiting for this to be over. I'm so fuckin bored."
Anxious and concerned, Stolas says, "Maybe I should have gone in with Amara. I'm worried."
"Yeah. I'm worried about it myself," Octavia says.
"You worry too much, I'm sure Amara is fine," Blitz says.
Concern, Roy says, "I don't know. That little quake from here didn't seem good."
"Yeah. I think Amara was kind of upset during the talk," Octavia says.
Stolas stands up and walks to where Amara and Charlie are going, "Perhaps I should go check on them."
Just then, they hear footsteps and talking from down the hall. Soon, walking out to the lobby are Charlie and Amara, who are talking and have a good laugh.
"I'm glad to see that you're feeling a lot better now," Charlie says.
"Yeah. And it's nice to have a great talk with you. Maybe we can do it again sometime," Amara says.
"I think we can make an arrangement. If it's alright with your dad," Charlie says.
"Hmm, I'm sure I can make some arrangements too," Amara says.
Just then, Stolas walks over and says, "Well, it looks like you two had a good time."
"Hi dad," Amara says.
"So how was the session?" Stolas asks.
"The therapy session actually went pretty well. Though, I did release some of my resentment and anger," Amara says.
"That explains the sudden quake," Octavia says.
Roy walks up and says, "I'm glad to see you're feeling better."
"Thank you, Roy," Amara says, and kneels to him, "I'm sorry for worrying you for the past few days."
"Well, glad that you're feeling a lot better," Millie says.
"Yeah," Amara says. "But… I know that Mirror, Orpheus, and Mirage are still out there, and I know that I can't just stand here and do nothing."
"Well yeah. Those fuckers were messing with us," Blitz says.
"And I want to personally take them down," Amara says with his arms crossed and makes a bitter and determined expression on her face.
"That's the spirit. I mean, you kind of end up with a wounded heart when it happens, and the best way for it to heal is to have some sweet revenge," Blit says with an evil grin.
Charlie nervously chuckles, "I kind of advise against it for the time being."
"Why not?" Millie asks.
"Well for one, we don't know where Orpheus or his minions are. Two, from what Amara and Stolas told me, this Orpheus is dangerous, and has committed high crimes. I know it's Hell, but what they did was bad to kidnap and targeting a demon royal, and I mean real bad. And three, well, I think this is something the higher ups should do," Charlie explains.
"I'm afraid Charlie is right. It's for the best if we handle this. Besides, who knows what he's up to," Stolas says.
"And what happens if they come after us like last time?" Loona questions.
"Then we'll just fuck them up," Millie says.
"And what happens if Orpheus appears as well. It was bad enough when Mirage and his group trashed the building and the office," Moxxie asks.
"Then we'll have to keep an eye out for them. Either way, I want to personally take them down," Amara says.
"Unless the demon royals get rid of him first. Orpheus has committed a lot of crimes and even threatened demon royals as well. Now that it's revealed what he and his gang did to you, he might end up on death row," Charlie says.
"Sounds good to me. I'll personally be their executioner and kill himself," Amara says, and cracks her knuckles.
"Good plan," Blitz says with a grin.
"Okay, maybe you should save the killing spree for another time," Stolas says with a nervous chuckle.
Octavia chuckles with a smile, "Well, Amara works as a hitman after all."
Then Amara turns to Charlie, "Anyway, thanks for the talk Charlie. It's actually nice to talk to you about."
"It's no trouble, and you're free to come back to the hotel for another session if you like. Of course, I still have trouble getting Angel to join in the therapy session. And maybe you can hang out with me and Vaggie," Charlie says.
"Sure. I'll keep that in mind," Amara says.
She then waves goodbye, "I'll see you around.
"Bye," Charlie says.
Time has gone by, and everyone has already returned to their homes and later in the night, Amara, Octavia, and Roy decide to have a little sleep over together. All three are sleeping in one of the bigger beds and have the covers over them. Stolas opens the door gently to check on the three to see them sleeping peacefully. Stolas can't help but smile and close the door, and is glad to see them getting along, and Amara is feeling a lot better now.
