After spending the night dealing with Sonia's teasing, honestly, you would have thought that she would have realized that was Joy's sense of humor. I was now walking toward the staffing area, specifically the Joy and Jenny dormitories.
I'd already passed by several Joys and Jennys, all of them dressed in uniform. Joys were dressed in gray Victorian-style dresses with white cloth aprons in the front, and white boots with white nursing caps. The Jennys were wearing a blue button-up, short sleeve, thigh-length dress, complete with ranked shoulder epaulets, and finally, a black thick belt and black shoes with a blue police cap.
The family members had probably gotten here early to set up for the school course, the same as Gran. Strangely, all the ones I had passed, had eyed me weirdly.
Sigh*
Those two had better not have been telling stories about me, or I'm going to be pissed.
Hatty who was, you guessed it, on my head, chuckled in amusement at my thoughts.
Arriving at the lobby of the dorms showed a simple white wallpapered and blue carpeted room with twin windows on either side and a dark wooded desk toward the dorms themselves. Several teen Joys and Jennys were milling about the lobby, though my entrance had garnered their attention.
I didn't, however, care about that, and instead walked up to the desk where a mid-aged Jenny was sitting, frowning in confusion she schooled her features as I approached.
'Hatty can you feel, our Jenny and Joy? They'll be in their rooms, but I don't know which,' I asked my partner. Gran might have directed me to the correct dorms, but she didn't know their room number. Unfortunately, the little witch sent me a negative, and images of blurred together colors, there were too many similar auras to pinpoint them.
The hard way it is then. "Excuse me," I called out to the woman behind the desk.
The officer Jenny behind the desk, who had the standard brown eyes, was looking down at me, "Yes? Can I help you, young man? Are you lost?" The woman had obviously softened her voice to talk to me.
I wanted to groan at the voice but held back, it was too early for this shit. "No ma'am, I'm looking for a Joy and Jenny from Wedgehurst," My explanation garnered me a strange look from the woman, and whispering erupted from behind me. Why?
"Ah, err, relationship?" She seemed rather unsure. I blinked at the unexpected question, "Oh, umm...Friends? I guess? Playmates? Acquaintances? We're meeting up to go down to the shops. Why?" I was admittedly confused by the question, can't she just find them and call the room? Henrietta giggled happily with a feeling of, acceptance? I'm missing something here, but she wasn't sending anything else.
"Riiight," The desk officer dragged out. "And, do you have their names?" She asked. Well, that's unusual, Joys and Jennys don't usually like using their given names in an official capacity, might be a Galarian thing, though. I recall an episode in the show when two young Joys hung out with Ash and his friends in Sinnoh. Lucky for me, though, "Fiona and Zoey." I raised a brow at the woman, she seemed, confused?
"I... See," The older Jenny in the room responded then paused before continuing, "Can you wait a moment?"
"Sure?" I mean, what else was I going to do? Fuck off after getting here... Tempting, but Gran would find out. And I'm not a complete arsehole.
"Hello, matron? Can you come to the main desk? Yes, thank you," Sooo, she's calling the matron, what the fuck is going on here? What's with all the restrictions, that's not normal here, "Is something wrong?"
The officer turned back to me all smiles, "No, no, if you can take a seat while we sort this out." Sort out?
Sigh*
I murmured out a, "Sure." And sat at one of the waiting benches, something's up, 'Hatty you feel any negative emotions?' Hatty shifted her weight on my head from my question, but responded in the negative, followed by mental images of the Joys and Jennys present with a feeling of confusion. 'So they're confused?' I questioned and received a quick confirmation. Weird, they were definitely interested in my arrival but hadn't approached. Strange, I feel like I am being watched again, but not from them.
It was only a few more minutes until an older Joy with gray hair and pink eyes arrived in the lobby.
The elderly woman started over to me when the officer pointed me out. So, doing the polite thing, I got up and met her halfway. "Ma'am," I greeted with a nod.
"Good morning, young man, I hear you're looking for someone?" She asked... Getting really tired of repeating myself. "Yes Ma'am the younger Joy and Jenny from Wedgehurst," If she wasn't asking for names I wasn't giving them out. "Is there a problem?" Seriously, no one has answered my questions yet.
The Matron chuckled, "No, no. No problem," See, that's what everyone keeps saying. "We simply weren't expecting visitors, we normally only have family here." They WERE a rather close-knit family, but that hardly explains anything.
I cocked my head and raised a brow in silent question at the woman, who chuckled in response, "Our family spans the globe, dear boy, our family's very influential." She paused and discreetly gestured to the other Joys and Jennys in the room, "Our blood runs true, a daughter to every mother. Any men here are usually husbands and fathers, it is simply a surprise to see a young boy such as yourself here." Her face hardened, "We're quite protective of each other, you see."
Makes sense, exploitation, kidnapping, people would do a lot to try and control such a powerful family. My family had some power admittedly, but not the same and nowhere near the scope. Perhaps that's why they were acting this way.
"Yeah, I get it, I've seen it and I got a sister myself to protect," I told her, thinking of the two girls that had wormed their way into my life. I knew they were hyper-protective of each other, and very secretive about their family, more so than other Joys and Jennys. Well, what wasn't public information anyway. But for some reason, they'd let me in a bit, and I'd honor that trust even if I couldn't return it.
The older woman smiled pleasantly, "Indeed, I suppose they were right about you, Jericho." I blinked in surprise, what?
The matron laughed, "O'yes, my dear... granddaughter has told me allll about you." OK, what's with the pause?
"Only good things, I hope?" Was my admittedly Cliché response.
The woman chuckled and gave me a knowing smirk, "Of sorts. Enough to know you're a good lad. Keep them out of trouble, would you?" Oh, sure, give me an impossible task. Whenever us three do something together, without supervision, shit always goes down. "Well... I'll certainly try." I wouldn't get your hopes up, though.
The matron eyed me sympathetically, "That's all I ask." And with that, she turned away from me, heading back to the hallway, "The girls will be here soon."
Huh, well, that happened, I've never actually met other Joys and Jennys outside of the girls and their mothers. So far, I can safely say it's been... Strange.
Regardless, I nodded my thanks to the Jenny who had been at the desk as I returned to my seat. I would only be sat for a few more minutes, until a voice rang through the lobby, "Jerry!" Turning to the hallway I saw both girls arriving, Jenny and Joy or Zoey and Fiona now they were out of uniform.
Zoey was wearing a steampunk-type outfit that she insisted was like an old detective outfit. It was a bronze-colored long-tail dress with a tan corset and brown tail coat, this was finished with black pantyhose with thigh-high side-laced brown high-heeled boots. Her teal hair was placed into a French braid over her shoulder... Or rather a Kalosian braid here. The clothes looked rather strange on the young girl, more like cosplay.
Behind the smiling girl was her cousin Joy or rather Fiona skipping behind her, much to Hatty's joy, who teleported to the girl. She was wearing a gothic dark purple tunic dress with a black overcoat in the same style, she was wearing striped purple and black fingerless gloves and toeless knee socks complete with calf-length platform wedge boots. She had her hair put up in twin tails with black ribbons. And a pink Bewear-shaped bag on her back, one I knew she carried medical supplies in.
The two of them stood out, from what I understand, most, though not all, Joys and Jennys like to stand out in their off time. It was a way to be different from others in the family and express themselves.
"Mornin' girls," I sighed out and stretched.
"Ah, ah, Zoey and Fiona, Jerry," Zoey insisted, they were insistent on being called their first names when out of uniform which, fair if I lived in an almost identical family I would too.
sigh*
"Fiona you're going to lose your ribbons," I indicated toward said ribbons which were being pulled lightly by the little psychic's telekinetics, all the while fixated on the flowing fabric. Almost like a... Purrloin? To a ball of yarn... Yeah, that works.
The pinkette giggled, "Isn't it adorable." She was almost squealing now, and I could almost feel the bead of sweat on my head, as it is I simply sighed. Yeah, ok, moving on, "Whatever, Zoey I'm guessing you already know the way?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Too, right, come on," She wasn't quite yelling but was still rather loud. These too were acting a bit... Off, today.
Zoey grabbed me and Fiona and dragged us toward the exit. Though I made a point to take a final look at the corridor that the girls had come from, still feeling eyes on me.
Alice Joy P.O.V
And there they go, I couldn't help but be worried about those two, at least they'd found a friend. Something good in this mess, so long as-.
"I can hear your thoughts from here my love," Came the gruff voice of my husband from behind, I spun as fast as my aching limbs would allow, ouch. Had it really been 60 years since we'd been wed, time had flown by, I'm not as young now.
"Jack, I didn't know you were up, how are you?" I didn't mention them, but he knew I meant his old war injuries, I couldn't help but worry even after all these years.
His pale blue eyes twinkled, "You let me worry about that, darlin' ." He adjusted his cane, shifting his weight further from his bad leg. "And don't you worry about our girls, they'll be fine."
"Fine? Jack, three children by themselves? I'm glad they've made a friend after everything, truly I am. But is letting them out by themselves really for the best right now?" I couldn't help but worry about my granddaughter and her sister, if he's here- my worrying was cut off as Jack began to laugh.
"JACK!" This wasn't a laughing matter.
"Easy love, easy," He placed a hand on my shoulder. He knows what could happen, why isn't he more worried?
"They're both already fully trained, at seven. Zoey has her police training, and Fiona can put and pull people apart with her medical knowledge on top of her vicious streak. Never mind that I've shown them plenty of tips and tricks, we can't keep them hidden forever," Jack winked at me.
Sigh*
"Jack, they're still just kids, they aren't soldiers like you," Retired or not, the man still insisted he would always be a soldier, I worried about him then, and I worry for the girls now. "And let's not forget that little boy they have with them. What do you think will happen if they go after him to get to Fiona and Zoey?" If they threatened him, would the girls leave willingly?
Jack sighed and looked me in the eyes, the same look he had as a soldier, "Alice, do you honestly think I'd let my family anywhere near an unknown."
Oh, for Arceus's sake, I pinched my nose, "Jack, please tell me you haven't been stalking people, you're not an infiltrator anymore."
My husband simply rolled his eyes and slicked back his white hair, "Dear, that young man hospitalized several older children that made death threats against his sister."
...What? Children are making death threats and hospitalizing each other now? That isn't as reassuring as I'd like, then again it makes far too much sense that those two wouldn't befriend a normal child.
"On top of that, I think he's spotted me tailing him twice," Jack was far too happy about that. But he continued regardless, "Ali, don't worry, the girls won't need to protect him. He squared up against Rose and his assistant, then refused to back down against a Draco and Mustard. The kid was ready to fight, he can and will look after himself."
"And can we trust HIM," I asked, that child was suddenly very concerning.
"Ali, that young man has dealt with the girls at their worst, he hasn't said a word to anyone, I checked." I couldn't deny that he had a point, those two can be quite the handful.
Sigh*
"I'm allowed, to be scared for my granddaughter's Jack," Yes both of them, Zoey might as well be her own grandchild. I just don't want them to-
"JACK," I was stuck in a hug courtesy of my husband, now was not the time.
"Their mothers trust 'em, have a little faith," The silly old sod had his moments. "I knew I married you for a reason," I jested, he placed a hand over his chest dramatically in response.
Please be safe.
"Thank you for coming," The store clerk called after us. I waved behind me in response. Thankfully I wasn't being dragged by Zoey this time, I rolled my shoulder, that girl is far stronger than she lets on.
I looked down at the new black feature phone in my hand, weird tech tree, but apparently, these are popular here. The device already had two new numbers courtesy of the girls with me now.
Hatty from atop my head, had taken an interest in the new technology in hand as well, odd I would have thought Opal would have had one too, what with her being a GYM leader and all.
This world is nuts, though, I'm always blown away by how similar yet different things are here. I, a six-year-old, could enter a shop with my grandmother's debit card, buy a brand-new phone, and have it put on the plan, all without an adult or any information other than Gran's name. Yet apart from that, it was the same as any phone shop from back on Earth, different models, colors, prices...though to be far that might just be capitalism at work. Hmm.
"Great! Now we can contact you whenever we want~" Came Fiona's teasing voice... Ugh.
"Yeah!" Zoey cheered, "And now we've got the day to ourselves."
"Yeah, that's...Great," I confirmed, but I was reluctant to spend the day with them. The eclipse was getting closer each day, and considering the crap that happens to the three of us on a good day, I wasn't eager to test my luck.
"Think I'll go take a nap," And figure out how to meet my new dietary needs while at the school. As such, I moved to return to the school wing of the castle.
"Wait! We can't go back now, we have to investigate the church." At least I was until a hand latched onto my shoulder and started pulling me in the opposite direction. I turned my head to see Zoey had reclaimed my arm, Ouch.
Though I admit my curiosity was peaked, church and investigation usually don't go together well, "Church? As in the church of Arceus?" I needed more information than that. The church of Arceus held many similarities to Christianity on Earth. Though, Religion was basically defunct here after the recent century's Great war and Poke'rus plague. Not to say it didn't have a lasting effect, people still swore by the Alpha Pokemon, and even held marriages similar to back on Earth because of it. But it's not something Zoey would be interested in, which begs the question, why?
"Yup," Zoey exclaimed joyfully, which answered nothing. I shot a look at Fiona, who was eyeing me smugly. Though after a few seconds rolled her eyes and explained to me, "She wants to investigate the disappearances."
I felt Hatty still on my head. Oh, oh, that doesn't sound good, "Explain." I was dead serious right now, this sounds like something that would need investigating, but not by them... Maybe I'm being paranoid?
"Sure!" Zoey replied happily, "So apparently in the war this church was visited a lot by those that still believed, the priest had been arrested for refusing to fight, so his young son began doing services." A son who probably didn't truly know what he was doing, shit.
"Anyway one day the priest went missing from his cell, and of course, the officials went to his family at the church, and found it empty, which was strange because the bell had rung for service earlier that day," Zoey continued. This had better just be a story.
"It turned out everyone who had gone that day had disappeared, woo, wOo, WoO" Zoey emphasized, wiggling her fingers in and making ghost sounds. Her cousin scoffed playfully at her antics.
The girl took on a more meek appearance now having stopped to tell the story, she was fiddling with her hands. "But yeah, I thought you find it interesting as well, I found it on, umm," The girl stopped and looked around and lowered her voice, "The family browser last night, and they found a symbol calved on the altar that looked like your earring."
Paranoid my arse. I fingered my spectacle for a moment, now very concerned... Wait, like? "What do you mean by like?"
She tilted her head and looked at my focus, "Oh, well, they had it upside down."
And like that, I froze, and paled, and I couldn't stop the scared squeak that escaped my mouth. The inverted pentacle, the gate to the underworld, hell.
"No," I said firmly.
"Wh-what?" Zoey questioned in surprise.
"We're leaving," I wouldn't take no for an answer. I grabbed Fiona by the wrist, but Zoey moved out of my reach.
"Ah, hey!" The pinkette complained.
"Jericho, what the heck," She was eyeing me.
Dammit, "The inverted pentacle is supposed to be a gateway to hell, a place worse than the distortion world. I'm not taking the chance." All my alarm bells were going off now. I could tell them the whole truth, but I could dissuade them. Why is this happening? It's been one case of supernatural things after another, is the eclipse that strong?
Fiona scoffed again. "You don't actually believe that, do you? I didn't take you for being the religious type, Jerry~" She purred bemusedly and attempted to remove her wrist from my grip to no avail. I ignored her.
"Come on, I'm sure there's other things we can do, right?" My eyes hadn't left Zoey.
The teal-haired girl looked very upset and began backing up, "No if it's dangerous then someone needs to check on it." With that said, the girl sped off.
"Shit," I cursed, releasing Fiona and sprinting after her as she turned down an overgrown side path. 'Hatty can you stop her?' I asked. I received a quick image of Zoey slamming into a barrier and bouncing off bloody. Then one of her being held psychically then released, her leg snapped as she landed wrong. 'I know there's a chance of injury, but it's better than - shit,' I thought as she turned off the path.
I followed her through to an open clearing where an old church stood in place. It wasn't big like you would think it would be, it had a gable-type roof with dark worn wood. The stone making up the walls and single steeple were an old dark gray. Surrounding the church was the graveyard, where the headstones were just as worn as the building. But it was the iron fence surrounding it all, a barbed iron fence, that got my attention. There was already a stone wall around the graveyard the fence was new, well, in comparison.
"Come on, come on," Zoey was practically begging and looking for an entrance through the fence. Something felt... Off. Oh, yeah, we need to leave.
"There's no gate," I spoke up from behind her, far calmer, even if something is here, that iron will act as a barrier, I hope.
Fiona arrived behind me panting, jeez it wasn't that far. "See," She got out, "There's nothing here." No, that fence was put up for a reason.
Still, I grabbed a nearby rock and threw it. It sailed right over the fence... That's not good, what's stopping flying Pokemon or teleporters and their trainers?
"This sucks, I thought we could all have some fun before school starts," Zoey was hugging her knees in front of the gate right now, sniffling.
I sighed, in concern for the girl, but mostly in relief that we'd be able to leave without any more fuss. This place, it was cold.
Fiona cast a glare at me as we both approached Zoey, I winced, that actually hurt more than I thought it would. "Sorry," I said as sincerely as I could to the little nurse. Hatty teleported to the girl's head and began cooing. "Fine," Fiona sniffed in a false superiority... I think it was fake, "But only because this cutie is on your side." She pointed at the Hatenna on her head.
"Zoey, come on, there's other stuff we can do," I said but got that vague feeling of being watched again, but this was different. A chill went up my spine.
"Well yeah, there's that family that died in the manor after their daughter," She mentioned quietly... I'm sorry what, does she mean the manor where the ghost girl is, the one that died of illness? How does she keep coming across these?
"I just, I just wanted something we'd all find fun, I like figuring stuff out, Fiona likes creepy places, and you like the supernatural. I just-," I cut her off and pulled her up, "I appreciate the thought, Zoey, I do, but not if it could be dangerous. I don't want anyone getting hurt." The girl wiped her wet eyes and Fiona sighed, wrapping the girl in a hug.
I saw something, movement in the graveyard, I put an arm around the pair and started moving us all back toward the path we'd come from. Crisis averted.
Now to dissuade her from the manor and get back to school. I shot a final look over my shoulder at the graveyard and felt my heart stop.
The girls must have noticed my gaze because they turned before I could stop them.
"A Mightyena? What's one doing in Galar?" Zoey questioned.
"No," Fiona responded, narrowing her eyes and tilting her head, "It's a mundane dog, I think? But I don't think they have red eyes."
Both girls attempted to move forward, but I grabbed both of them. "They don't," I said, obviously panicked at this point. Coming from Earth where dogs are man's best friend, I can tell you that they aren't that big nor do they have glowing red eyes and black fur that wisped like a shadow. "We NEED to leave, NOW," I stressed. As Hatty took her place on my head again and hissed toward the graveyard.
The two girls were obviously concerned with the situation and how I was acting, but I dragged them back toward the path regardless. It was a fucking Grim, a hellhound. And it wanted to be seen, that meant one thing, death was coming.
No, no more playing nice. I had to get them out of here. Which would have been easier if, as I pulled them back toward our only exit, two voices hadn't made themselves known.
"You're positive you saw our lord's children?" A female voice came from the overgrown path. Followed by a, "Yes," from a second male voice. Oh, what now, isn't this enough for one day!?
No sooner had the two voices reached us did Fiona and Zoey both freeze, ridged and rapidly paling. Then they both freaked the fuck out and, using what I can only assume to be, hysterical strength, ripped themselves from my grip and sprinted toward the fence. I was already in pursuit, I'm not sure what's going on, but there was no way I was letting that Grim near them.
As the girls reached the fence, they attempted to scale the bars, the Grim was already moving. I grabbed the two as quickly as I could and yanked them off of the bars, my own panic fueling my strength as the Grim's jaws slammed onto the bars where Fiona had been.
The teal and pink-haired girls both scrambled backwards from where they had landed, each gasping in shock. If they had been scared before now they looked outright terrified, and so was I, but for a different reason.
"Don't you fucking dare," I Promised, but a day ago I would protect them from this. But it was too late. An echoing chortle surrounded us like a distorted child's voice, "A MagI? HoW aMuSIng."... No...
Behind me, I heard Zoey squeak in horror while Fiona let out a sharp breath. Even as Hatty hissed at it. I'd failed already.
"I wONdeR," The black hound continued, sniffing the air deeply. "WhO wILl iT Be? YOu?" It looked at me and I avoided its gaze, "Don't look it in the eyes!" I commanded all present. It chuckled again, its grin widening and distorting unnaturally up to its ears, "Or thEM?" It turned its massive head toward the path we had come from.
"There they are!" A male voice called out. The massive Grim was now smaller and could honestly pass for an off-looking mightyena, its grin no longer present, but I could see the amusement in its eyes.
I turned, partly having to rely on the iron bars to keep the grim back, so I could get a look at these newcomers, two team plasma grunts? What the fuck are they doing here? Both were wearing white Gambeson's with light blue sleeves, globes, and boots with what looked like black leggings. Both had the team plasma logo on their chests; a black shield with a neon blue, P, on it. And both had ginger hair and light blue eyes, what's up with that?
Before I could comment on that though, I noticed Fiona pulling up Zoey, both shaking and backing toward where the FUCKING GRIM was. I immediately stepped behind them, stopping that impending disaster. They flinched, they flinched at me when I stopped them, and I grit my teeth. I WAS scared. Now? Now I'm angry. If plasma hadn't arrived, then we could have left, the grim wouldn't have had a chance to talk.
"Lady Zoey, Lady Fiona your father has... Requested, your presence," The Female voice spoke up, It was obvious she wasn't asking. She opened a Pokeball and released a Watchog. It wasn't native to Galar, but I knew it from the games. The Pokemon had reddish brown fur with large cheeks and incisors with yellow stripping on its chest and tail, it looked like a demented meerkat with red and yellow eyes.
The male grunt grinned darkly, "We wouldn't want anything to happen to your friend, now, would we?" He released his own Pokemon a Gurdurr which can be found in Galar. It was a grey-skinned hourglass-shaped humanoid biped with a red clown-like nose and bulging violet-colored veins on its huge muscles. D-did that bastard just use me as a threat?
Well, if he wants my attention, "I ain't sure what's going on or why two lowly plasma grunts are in Galar, but you're scaring my friends, so fuck off." These two were grunts, the lowest of their organization, with little training, so long as it was just them we had a good chance.
The woman scowled, and the man shouted, "Gurderr ki-".
"Enough!" The woman interrupted, shooting a look at her teammate, who scowled back. "So they told you who we are? Unfortunate. But you know how dangerous we are, hold on to those girls for us, and we'll let you go." I realized I had what I, now, presume to be sisters, held by their outer shoulders in a pseudo hug, almost. The woman wanted me to stop them running? Is she serious, or does she just not want a scene?
I felt the girls still, with obvious concern, and heard the grim quietly chuckle behind us. I'd have to trust in the iron, this was the immediate threat.
"Hatty," I called aloud, releasing Joy and Jenny. Hatty got the idea and teleported in front of me, hissing again. While I placed myself in front of them, my intentions were clear. That odd calm hyper-awareness before a fight kicked in.
"We aren't going anywhere with you," Fiona said coolly. Though she shot me a quick if grateful look.
So by now, I'd obviously figured out that Fiona and Zoey were sisters, they'd have to be if they have the same father. The problem is the father, as far as I know, plasma grunts only refer to one person as lord, Ghetsis. He is technically a part of the Galarian royal family though distant, I've seen his name in the news. His family survived the overthrowing of the monarchy and fled to Unova. Guess I know why these two never wanted to talk about their father.
The woman sighed and nodded to her cohort, who grinned, "Gurdurr, kill the boy." Does this guy seriously not see the psychic in front of me? Or does he just not know what she is? Well, regardless of their lack of training and type disadvantage, these Pokemon still have more experience than Hatenna, considering their evolved states.
We were interrupted before I could make an opening with my partner, "Wait!" It was Zoey speaking now, "Don't hurt him."
The woman had to be the leader here, she put her hand out, stopping the attack before speaking up, "Oh? So, you'll come quietly to meet your father?" She seemed happy at the prospect. I, however, was not, Ghetsis was a monster, a manipulator, and was more than willing to kill a child he raised because he wouldn't do as he said. Yeah, no fucking way, not without a fight... Fuck it.
'Hatty can you buy me 30 seconds?' I asked her. The growling witch confirmed my request. 'Good, let's see if these twats can handle an adept, human-to-human.'
"No," I said calmly and clearly.
"I wasn't asking you, boy," The woman's face scrunched up, seems she didn't want me talking Zoey down. Too bad, I was going to do more than talk.
"J-jerry you need to leav-," Zoey was trying to keep me safe, that's cute.
"Will you keep my secret?" I asked firmly. It wasn't my fault, but they knew now, they were my responsibility.
"Wha-?" Zoey tried.
"Will, you, keep my secret?" I asked again, still eyeing the grunts.
"Yes!?" Zoey was obviously confused, as I took a brief look over my shoulder, I saw Fiona nodding along as well.
Alright then, all in, 'Hatty, present a threat, intimidate,' I requested. My partner lit up in Psionic energy, making herself look far stronger than she actually was.
"Shit, get them," The male ordered both their Pokemon, then turned to his partner, "Call the shadows." The woman gave a shaky nod at our display, pulling out a phone.
Oh, shit, priority one, I'm not fighting the shadow triad. Hatty flared a barrier to life, intercepting the two charging Pokemon. While I raised my hand and focused on the phone.
I clenched my fist and exerted a good amount of energy keeping control at that range. The phone along with the bitches hand crumpled. Perhaps I should have gone for the throat, but, well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Sooner more likely than later, I can't hesitate.
A piercing scream came from the woman, who clutched her mangled hand with the other to her chest. The male grunt went wide-eyed and the Pokemon broke their assault momentarily, long enough for Hatty to turn her barrier into a blast of confusion.
The would-be kidnapper could only stutter out a single word as his partner screamed, "A-adept."
I grinned in faux amusement, the fuckers had bitten off more than they could chew. But that stunt had cost me a decent chunk of energy. A single impact blast? Fine, OK. But controlled and contained destruction? Much harder, especially with a six-year-old's body and energy reserves.
"Well?" I asked, drawing my knife, "Shall we?"
The Grim behind me chuckled.
A/N:Sorry about how late the late chapter is, I got very, very sick. As in I lost a day of memory due to high temp sick. Then I recovered... And got sick again.
So people are aware the MC isn't a self-insert and is a character that died on Earth and was reincarnated. Admittedly I might shair one or two traits but that's more for storytelling purposes, it's easier to explain things you understand and experience, etc. I don't want him to be some over powered character, unique, yes but hardship and challenge is part of storytelling. At the same time he's not just going to roll over. I'm trying to balance it.
@Gerald Of Revea- The basics are that Sonia is concerned that Jericho is a shut-in, rather than doing what other kids are at that age. She is aware of Joy and Jenny but hasn't actually met them. As mentioned in chapter 13 he would only really bitch about them to her making her concerned that he has no friends, which he is admittedly lacking in. But as is human nature you can only be around people so long without becoming familiar, whether you want to or not. On top of that since he and Fiona/Zoey met he's not attempted to make any friends in those 3 years. She wants to get him out of his shell. As you can see in this chapter he was more in extreme denial, and is coming around.
@K. God- To be fair pokephilia is possible in canon, and even confirmed in games, I'm just not shying away from the aspect. Which makes sense in a world with other sapient creatures, much like DnD or star wars or other fantasy/sci-fi stories where it's natural. Hell if the games are to be believed then off spring is viable which is why I related it to adepts, it made sense. There is however a reason the MC is looking into this which will come up later. As you've seen the breeding aspects are sort of muddled right now. Again there's a reason. As for hatenna she was put in for the witch aspect, I debated with Sprigatito and fennekin because their evolved forms also have what could be considered magical properties but decided to keep it regional for now. Plus Hatterene reminds me of midna from Zelda which amused me. The MC is from earth and while he has adapted well to this world, there's many things that he still isn't used to, and/or concerned about, and is coming to terms with. Because things were different on Earth, he's hard wired differently.
@mangouschase- thanks for the feed back, might be cause of the POV, I'll work on it.
