Izuku had just left his apartment, ready for another day at school. 'Maybe I convince Asari to let me study her quirk. I would probably need to offer something.'
His eyes went wide when he saw someone waiting for him by the stairs. "K-Kacchan, what are you doing here?"
"The Old Hag said you finally got a quirk," Izuku could hear the skepticism in Bakugo's voice.
"I've always had it," he replied, "I just could never activate it."
Bakugo let out a growl. "So you're a fucking dumbass. Show me your damn quirk, we got time before school."
Izuku dropped his backpack to pull out his time and a school folder. One hand holding the notebook and the other outstretched as the folder fell to the ground. "Pull!"
The school folder flew into his hand. Izuku had a grin on his face while Bakugo was unimpressed. "So you just got your mom's quirk?"
"Not really, it's a lot more complicated than that," Izuku said. Bakugo made an explosion to shut Izuku up before the smaller teen could do a long-winded explanation.
"Walk and talk, Deku," he ordered, walking down the stairs,
Izuku felt a bit of nostalgia walking to school with Bakugo. He ignored the agitation from his helper in the skies as began to explain his quirk to Bakugo. The blonde was oddly silent during the walk, not interrupting Izuku once.
"So all your fucking stalker notebooks are finally going to be some of damn use," Bakugo said as they approached Aldera Middle School, "You are just going to be a copycat hero, Deku."
Izuku blinked, a strange form of happiness stirring in his chest. "You think I can be a hero?"
Bakugo scoffed. "Barely, you're not going to be great. I'm still going to be number one while you will be no name, only known to the neighborhood you patrol."
Bakugo left the stunned Izuku behind. The teen noticed people were whispering about the interaction. He was still nervous about the center, so he hurried to class.
When he finally got to his desk, he decided it was time to ask questions. 'Yiu have been grumpy this morning. Why?'
Izuku scrunched his face. 'Kacchan? What did he do today? He said I can be a hero?'
Images of the past were shown. The way Bakugo had always treated him after Izuku was diagnosed as quirkless. 'I know we aren't friends anymore. I'm pretty sure we probably can't be that again, but maybe he can be less antagonistic?'
They seemed satisfied with that as the teacher walked in. The teacher made it to his desk and addressed the class. "Good morning class, I have a big announcement today."
Izuku flinched when the teacher's attention zeroed onto him. "Midoriya has finally gained a quirk. Why don't you come to the front of the class? Do a little show and tell."
Izuku could feel everyone staring at him as he walked up the front with his tome. He faced his class, clutching his tome to his chest. "Hi?"
A few students chuckled at him as he began to give a brief explanation of his quirk. The stars did not want him to go in as depth as he had done with Bakugo. He did a quick demonstration, pulling a paperweight off the teacher's desk and shooting flames from his mouth.
Izuku gauged the reactions of his classmates. Some were indifferent, a few curious, but a few seemed fearful. The stars were smug about the scared ones, but Izuku was confused. 'Why would they be afraid of me?'
That question stayed on his mind as he sat down and the rest of class. Akari, he noticed was giving glares that Bakugo would be proud of. Asari, on the other hand, was giving the same blank as the others. 'I don't know if that's a bad thing or not.'
The class returned to normal soon as the teacher began his lessons. Izuku noticed that people kept taking glances at him, making him uncomfortable. 'I guess hiding for lunch is today is a good idea.'
(Dagobah Beach)
Izuku had returned to the junk ridden beach after an interesting week at school. Everyone seemed a bit friendlier to him, including the staff. 'It seems like someone is cleaning this place up. That beaten up car is gone!'
He got worried that the unknown cleaner could still be around. 'It would be hard to explain what I'm doing. This bottle of blood is suspicious enough. Hopefully, they didn't notice the sand.'
His spot was far away from the spot the car used to be, so Izuku felt it was unlikely it was noticed. 'Everything seems clear. I guess I will start.'
He stood over the blackened sand and pulled out an All Might Blanket from his backpack. A new requirement the Stars had given him after a small disagreement. 'Taking all my stuff now. Greedy!'
Using some of the blood from the bottle, he wrote the needed Kanji on the blanket. He felt sad that he was going to lose the blanket as he began to mutter an incantation. He had gotten it when he was four years old, from his grandmother. The kitchen knife he used previously was placed in the middle.
A reddish portal appeared above the spot, about the size of Izuku's hand. The teen had backed away, unprepared for a tentacle to pop out of the portal. It was a sickly green with purple spots that resembled the arm of an octopus. "What the?"
The tentacle grabbed the blood bottle out of Izuku's hands and brought the item back to the portal. Apparently, it was drinking the blood, as Izuku heard slurping noises. That was followed by a burp and an explosion of violet goo that covered the knife and blanket. The tentacle then drank the rest of the blood before throwing it through the air toward a pile of trash.
Izuku flinched as he heard the bottle freak against whatever it hit. The goo had lit a fire before disappearing, leaving only a new knife. It was a tanto knife with a red eye in the hilt, that stared right at Izuku. The tentacle burped again before sliding back into the portal.
The teen stared as the portal closed. "What just happened?"
Receiving no reply, Izuku picked up the knife. The eye closed, making the teen shudder. 'Time to get home and hide it with my tome!'
Izuku opened his backpack and took out the tome. The strange knife disappeared into the book. 'Huh, I guess it's like the star quill.'
"Hey you!" a voice shouted.
A random voice shouting at him at night in a sketchy part of the neighborhood? Izuku had already bolted. But he didn't get far, getting entangled in some branches that srputed beneath him. "Kamui Woods!"
"It seems my reputation precedes me. Now criminal, what were you doing?" the wood hero asked as he landed by Izuku, "Oh, it's just you."
"You know me?" Izuku was shocked. And a bit touched.
"You're the local hero fanatic with the muttering quirk that gives people headaches," Kamui Woods stated, "You're obviously a child. What are you doing out so late? It's almost curfew."
"Quirk practice," Izuku blurted out of fear, "I mean I was reviewing and revising quirk notes!"
The Pro Hero sighed, letting go of the teen. "I don't even want to know. I will let it slide this one time. But don't think the others won't know about this."
"Thank you, Kamui Woods!" Izuku bowed after being freed, "Um, can I ask you about your quirk?"
"You get three questions and then you got to get home," Kamui Woods told Izuku, who whipped out his notebook in response.
(Aldera High)
Izuku was sitting alone, as usual, during lunch. Even with his classmates being nicer the last few days. 'Some even let me ask about their quirks!'
He was going to review his notes on Kamui Woods when someone sat down in front of him. "Asari?"
"Midoriya," the girl said, "Are you still interested in my quirk after getting yours?"
"Yes," he answered hesitantly. 'What a strange question?'
"Good. I will allow you to study it. In exchange, you will tutor me," she offered.
"T-that's great and all, but why?" Izuku asked.
The girl stared at him. "I do plan on being a Pro Hero but unlike you and Bakugo, UA is not a choice for me. My grades are not good enough for it and I doubt I could get them high enough in a few months. There are other hero schools I know I can make it into."
"Oh, I will tutor then!" Izuku answered, a pep in his step, "What subjects do you want help on?"
"Mathematics first," Asari answered, "Everyone knows that is your best subject and you beat Bakugo at it. Plus Seiai Academy has the subject as the top class."
"Seiai Academy is a great hero school! Asari that's amazing!" The girl blushed at the praise.
"Thank you Midoriya," she said, passing him a piece of paper, "Here's my number. We can plan a study session soon!"
She then left the awestruck boy behind. 'I have a girl's number!'
A snort of amusement was heard in his head, but Izuku ignored it. He hadn't gained a new number since Bakugo first got his cell phone. He ignored how the blonde was forced to share his number.
'I wish Akari would talk to me,' Izuku thought sadly. His classmate hadn't taken the news of Izuku's quirk well. 'I'll have to stick to my videos.'
The ringing of the bell alerted Izuku that lunch was over. He walked back to class, one of the first to make it back. As always.
Minutes later, the teacher and the last of the stragglers made it back into the classroom. "Glad to see everyone made it back. I am giving you all a new assignment."
"It will be a group project and it will be completed in pairs," The teacher explained, "I decided to let everyone choose their own partner. Go ahead and pair up."
There was a shuffling of feet as classmates were partnering up with their close friends. Izuku sat still, waiting for the unfortunate person to be teamed up with him. 'Our class has exactly 30 students luckily.'
Asari stood in front of him, giving Izuku a bit of a shock. "Midoriya, I believe it is best to team up."
"S-sure!" he said, "I'm sure this assignment will be a breeze."
(Dagobah Beach)
Yagi stared at the blackened sand. 'This patch has gotten bigger.'
The lanky man had been cleaning up the beach the last couple of weeks since he had arrived in Mustaftu. Then one day, a patch of black sand had appeared and made the number one hero feel incredibly uncomfortable. 'One for All has been reacting negatively to it since it appeared.'
The man had hoped to find out who had done this but he did not have the time to monitor Dagobah Beach all day. 'The only thing I have to go is the report made by Kamui Woods. But that is just a child!'
He remembered Izuku Midoriya. The child had a strange notebook written in language he had never seen but could understand for some reason. Reading the notebook and the notes on quirks had given him a slight headache. 'I am still confused. Most say his quirk causes headaches when he mutters but the quirk registry says otherwise.'
When Yagi had checked on the boy's quirk, he seen it had been updated only a few days ago. A quirk that allowed Midoriya to copy quirks after extensive research on them. The permenanance of these abilities made All Might uneasy, reminding him of his deceased nemesis. 'I shouldn't be like this. The boy is innocent and a fan of heroes.'
Yagi sighed as he walked to his truck, the trunk filled with junk. He would just have to keep an eye on the boy for awhile to ease his nerves. 'Never thought a child would have me like this.'
