Chapter 1
"Ehh? W-what do you mean with It's me, Uesugi?", asked Nino to the golden eyes boy that sighed and smiled frowned.
"It's exactly what I mean; the punk blond boy you see in that photo is me when I was 12. Compared to now, I was way different 5 years ago.", he explained her, making the social butterfly blush at remembering how she said that the boy of the photo was her type.
The two of them were currently in Nino's room because she had asked to Fuutarou to help her with piercing her ears if he wanted back his student handbook that he had forgotten to retrieve from her when she wrote her phone number on it. Though, the girl was scared of the needle, so when Fuutarou tried to pierce her ear, she shaked her head and moved suddenly away, letting his handbook fall from her pocket.
That allowed her to see the photo of blond teen inside the handbook, which made her say that he was her type while asking Fuutarou who he was, getting the answer that the young tutor just gave her.
"W-why did y-you change yourself? I don't get why y-you passed from being a c-cool p-punk to a nerd.", she asked, still blushing and looking down embarassed.
He blushed at being called cool again, even if it was about his old punk style. "W-well, let's say that 5 years ago, I met a young girl during a school trip to Kyoto that I made a promise with; I would have started to study more to help my family like she would have done to help hers. Before of becoming what I'm now, I was just a young delinquent that hated studying, didn't listen to the teachers and picked up fights with bullies that dared to hurt Raiha…", he replied, making Nino look at him with widen eyes at what she was hearing.
"My father was and is still a blond punk that hated studying, so I found him cool during my childhood and behaved like him. Still, after I met that girl in Kyoto and my m-mother's death due to a damned illness that was incurable, I had to start to take up some part-time jobs during middle school to help with the debts born after my parents' bakery failed and due to my mother's hospital bills. It's hard struggling with those debts and I wish everyday to get out of this situation. It's all I want.", he said to conclude his answer, causing the butterfly ribbons quint to look at him with sadness in her eyes and ashamed of herself for how she treated him on the first day she met him.
She had started to see that he wasn't a bad person as she thought after seeing how he tried to reunite her sisters and her at the fireworks festival, and now that she knew about his past, she didn't see him as an outsider anymore.
He was like her, a person that cared deeply for his family and that wanted to protect it and help it at the best he could. Such thing made her feel like there was a connection between them, as she could understand what he went through. While she and her sisters had Maruo to get out of poverty when their mother died, it wasn't the same for Fuutarou and his family.
Now she fully understood why he couldn't afford to give up on being a tutor, as it was his best solution to help his family with the debts and why he wanted her to join his tutoring sessions. She even took a glance at his face, frowning sadly when she saw a sad smile on his face.
"Now you know that reason I became a nerdy loner, but I didn't tell you everything to be pitied or anything; I just wanted to tell you the truth because I hate lying, especially on things like this. I also told you everything because you showed me how much you care for your family, hoping that you'd und-"
"I-I understand you!", she suddenly said, cutting him off while getting up from her bed to look at him in the eyes.
"Huh?"
"I-I understand w-what you went through, Uesugi, it's t-the same that my sisters and I passed through. W-we lost our mother when we were younger and if it wasn't for Papa, we would probably be living o-on the streets or worse. I-I'm sorry for how I t-treated you when we met.", she told him, lowering her gaze to look down and to hide her flushed face somehow.
Hearing those words made Fuutarou smile a little, "I accept your apology, Nino. Thank you for listening to me; I don't like opening myself up a-about my past and all, but I did it with you because I felt like there was a connection between me and you. As if you could understand my situation."
Nino's eyes widened: did he feel a connection between them as well? So she wasn't the only one who felt it? Thinking about that made her feel that her heart beating fastened, which shocked her.
'W-What's this? Why my heart is beating faster? I-It's because of him? I-it's because I think he is like me?', she thought, blushing deeper while avoiding eye contact with him.
"Nino, what's wrong? Are you ok?", he asked her, suddenly putting a hand on her head that caught her by surprise. She was shocked by the gesture, but she didn't feel like it annoyed her. Actually, it felt very nice, especially when he started to caress her head.
"I-I'm ok, Uesugi. I'm j-just sad for all you h-had to deal with. I feel bad for drugging you on your f-first day as our tutor."
"Oh, I f-forgive you for that, don't worry. Since I didn't risk any collateral effect, I never had a grudge against you for that. Still, it was pretty stupid for you doing that haha.", he replied, smiling while scolding her playfully.
"Hey, did you just call me an idiot but subtly?", she asked, pouting and glaring at him.
"I told you I hate lying, right? So I just told you what I honestly think of the fact that you drugged me.", he replied, frowning before showing her a smile that made her blush again.
'H-He's very cute when he smiles.', she thought, liking his little toothy grin.
After that, Fuutarou asked her if she still wanted to pierce her ears, telling her that it wouldn't hurt too much, as he had already pierced his left ear years ago. Nino shaked her head and told him that she didn't feel ready yet, but when she would, then Fuutarou was going to help her again.
The girl then told him that she would start to join his study sessions, even if she hated studying. When he asked her the reason for such decision, that he didn't mind of course, she blushed and looked away while telling him that she didn't like seeing him so much in difficulty to help his family, so even she disliked studying, she would do it with him and her sisters if it could help him.
Such reply made the boy smile and thank her, causing her to blush and look away embarassed. But suddenly, a grumbling sound came out from Fuutarou's belly, which made him blush and touch his bangs, just like he did everytime he was flustered. Nino started to giggle and asked him if he had had breakfast, and when he said no, she told him to go downstairs to join her and her sisters to eat.
He was stunned by that and asked her if it was fine that he joined them, getting a frown and a "Of course it's fine, dummy! You have to eat well and enough, after all!", as reply, which made him sigh and smile while he started to leave Nino's room. But before he opened the door, he turned his head to glanced at her and say, "Thank you for understanding me, Nino."
Once he told her that, the social butterfly felt again that her cheeks warmed up while her heart beat faster another time. 'H-he thanked me again for understanding him and he t-trusts me…I was r-really an idiot for not trying to understand a poor soul like him that never gave up in his life despite all what he and his family suffered. He's not an outsider anymore, but something more.', she thought, smiling while touching the top of her head that he caressed. She didn't know why, but she wished that he patted her head again.
After thinking about that, she started to change her pajamas with a blue dress with a ribbon on the collar, wearing her signature white tights. Curiously, she looked at her image reflected in her mirror, asking herself if Fuutarou would compliment her outfit before shaking her head to get rid of the thought.
'I-I just liked that he smiled at me, why do I want that he does it again and that he compliments my-Aaah!', she thought, blushing more when she imagined Fuutarou telling her she was beautiful with a kind smile. It was like she developed an interest for him or something similar.
The butterfly ribbons girl then exited from her room to go downstairs to make breakfast, finding Fuutarou and Miku talking with each other on the couch about some historical events that the headphones girl liked. Nino frowned at that sight for some reason, not liking how the boy and Miku seemed so chummy with each other.
"Uesugi.", she called him, making him look at her to catch his attention.
"What is it, Nino?"
"I t-told you that I would make breakfast for you too, though, do you have something y-you like in particular?", she asked him, blushing and waiting that he praised her dress.
"Oh, no, I don't any favorite food in particular. You're good at cooking, so everything's fine for me. Also, that d-dress looks very good on y-you.", he replied a little flustered, making Miku pout because he praised her sister, who blushed more at hearing him praise her cooking and her dress.
"A-Alright, I will make cookies for you too then.", she told him before going to the kitchen with a smile that was noticed by Miku.
'That's strange, she didn't scowl at Fuutarou or insulted him as she usually does. He even made a compliment about her dress. Did something happen between them in her room?', she thought, feeling jealous of her older sister and pouting at the boy.
"Hmm? What's up, Miku?", he asked her, confused by her expression.
"Nothing.", she replied, glancing away and still pouting, making him ask himself what he did of wrong.
"Oh well, I will go to call Itsuki for breakfast. She must be pretty hungry.", he said, shrugging his shoulders while climbing the stairs to knock on the youngest quint's bedroom's door, who was surprised at seeing him before smiling when he asked if she wanted to have breakfast.
Nino observed Fuutarou's interactions with her sisters, feeling again that jealousy from before. 'I don't know why, but I don't like that he interacts often with my sisters. He was even smiling at Miku…I prefer that he smiles only at me.', she thought while finishing to prepare the cookies and putting them in the oven.
Since Ichika was out for her work as actress and Yotsuba was training with a sport club of their school, it would be only Fuutarou , Nino, Miku and Itsuki to have breakfast together at the Pentagon. While waiting for the cookies, Itsuki was sitting on the couch to wait eagerly, with Fuutarou and Miku talking with each other meanwhile. The youngest quint joined their conversation sometimes, disagreeing often with the boy on some things and agreeing on others.
'He and Itsuki seem to be still at the odds with each other. I guess that she knows about his situation, but he opened up himself only with me because he trusts me. Still, it annoys me that Itsuki went to his house.', thought Nino, looking at Itsuki with cold eyes before they returned to normal when the timer rang. She took the cookies out of the oven and put them on an array along some drinks for everyone before bringing everything to the table.
Seeing the delicious biscuits made Itsuki's eyes beam, so she started to munch on them while drinking a strawberry juice. Miku ate more slowly while drinking a matcha soda, even if she looked at how Nino's gaze was on Fuutarou, accompanied by a blush.
The social butterfly was in fact watching how the boy started to eat her cookies, taking another after another and drinking the glass of water that she gave him. He even looked at her and smiled, thanking her and telling her that the cookies were really delicious. Seeing him smile at her again caused her heart to beat faster once more, smiling back at him and telling him that he was welcome.
Now both Miku and Itsuki were surprised; did Nino and Fuutarou start to get along? Just what happened between them in her room? Those were the questions that they asked themselves, watching how Nino moved to sit by the boy's side, seeming very happy that he loved her cookies. That just made them more curious about her sudden different behavior towards the young tutor.
Some minutes later, they were done with having breakfast, so Fuutarou decided to leave because he just wanted to retrieve his student handbook. He put on his shoes and waved to the three quints that did the same, even if Nino frowned.
"Nino, what happened between you and Fuutarou? Why are you suddenly so nice to him?", asked her Miku after the boy left.
"Yeah, I don't understand why you and he get along now.", agreed Itsuki.
"I-I just talked with him while he was in my room and we understood each other. He showed me that I can trust him and that he would never harm us, so I w-will start to follow his tutoring sessions too, even if I hate studying.", she replied, blushing a bit while remembering Fuutarou's smile and words.
"R-really? Wow… U-Uesugi-kun is sure surprising if he convinced you to study with him."
"Itsuki, you don't want to study with Fuutarou and us too?", asked her Miku.
The ahoge girl blushed and pouted, "No, Uesugi-kun is still rude with me and I w-want to study by myself mouu."
'She's too prideful like Uesugi/Fuutarou.', thought Nino and Miku in unison, sweatdropping at their sister's attitude. The social butterfly thought also that if Itsuki heard Fuutarou's story about his past, she would probably accept to be tutored by him. Though, Nino didn't like that he told other people his past; the fact that he told only her because he felt a connection with her made her think that she was important to him. Only her.
The next Monday, Fuutarou woke up and had breakfast with his family as usual before going to school, with Isanari and Raiha teasing him about the quints like they often did. They especially teased him about Nino, as he told them the previous week about retrieving his handbook from her and that she liked his old punk look when she saw his photo.
The young man blushed and frowned in annoyance at them, trying to ignore their teasing while eating. Once he was done, he left before them to go to school to arrive there early, walking and reading his pocket notes as he was used to.
Some minutes later, he arrived to Asahiyama and entered inside the building to reach his class, without greeting his classmates as he usually did, except for Itsuki that greeted him politely when she arrived before the start of the lesson. Despite she still didn't want to be tutored by him, the ahoge girl was still diligent and polite, which was why she greeted him once she entered in class.
Fuutarou reciprocated the greeting before focusing on his notes again, making Itsuki sigh and smile; the boy would always study, no matter what. Still, he could hear the whispers of his classmates about him and Itsuki, ignoring them as always.
'I don't care about what they think about me, they just consider me a study freak or a smartass. They don't know why I struggle to do my best everyday.', he thought, not caring about their whispers. Itsuki heard them too and looked in concern at him, but as she saw that he wasn't bothered, she sighed in relief and ignored the whispers like him.
In Nino's class instead, the social butterfly was looking at her phone while her friends were talking between them, since the teacher wasn't arrived yet. But something of their chatting caught Nino's interest. "Did you see Uesugi-kun this morning? Man, he was studying while walking again.", said a girl with brown long hair.
"That boy is really a study freak, I guess that he won't find a girlfriend like that.", said another one with short black hair, annoying Nino.
"Nino, what do you think? Do you agree that-"
The first girl cut herself off when she saw a scowl on Nino's face, accompanied by cold and scary eyes. "You two should stop spouting no sense about him. Uesugi studies that much for more important reasons, so I suggest you to cut it with badmouthing him, got it?", she told them with an aggressive tone, putting emphasis on her last words.
Her friends shivered because of that and the icy glare of the social butterfly, whose words attracted the attention of her other classmates. Not wanting to anger her, the two girls nodded to Nino and apologized for what they said, promising to not do it again and managing to make Nino stop glaring at them.
'You and the others don't know anything about him like I do instead. Since he opened up himself to me and I felt a connection with him, I won't let anyone spout rubbish about him. He's the only one outside of my family that understands me like I do for him.', she thought, calming down externally while she was still angry internally.
She hated hearing her friends say bad things about the golden eyes boy, and just like she glared at them, she would do it with other people that dared to badmouth Fuutarou, whose smile appeared in her mind again and made her heart beat faster. She even ignored the glances of her friends and her classmates, who got very curious because of her sudden protective side regarding the top student of Asahiyama.
Following the morning lessons, Fuutarou left his classroom to go to have lunch in the cafeteria. "Yahoo, Fuutarou-kun. Do you want to join Onee-San, Miku and Yotsuba for lunch?", asked him the oldest quint, who appeared in front of him together the other two quints.
"If you don't tease me like you often do, then yes, lazy idiot.", he replied, making her pout.
"Mou, Uesugi-San, that's rude!", said Yotsuba, walking towards him with a pouting face.
"I just said the truth, you don't need to get annoyed.", he said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Uesugi-kun, that's not polite anyways. You need to treat girls more nicely.", suddenly said Itsuki, who appeared from behind him.
He sighed after being reprimanded twice. "Let's just go to eat before lunch time ends.", he said, starting to walk while the girls were surprised by how he didn't argue more.
"That's curious, I thought he would retort to Itsuki-chan too.", said Ichika to her sisters.
"Yeah, I thought the same. But why does he seem different?", asked the bunny ribbon quint.
"I think it's because of last Saturday, after he helped Nino with piercing her ears, even if she didn't let him pierce them in the end. Since she said that she trusts him now, she's been different from before and it looks that Fuutarou changed a bit too.", explained Miku, feeling jealous of the social butterfly for getting closer to the boy.
"Yeah, my opinion is the same, but now let's go to eat. I'm starving.", said Itsuki, making her sisters giggle at her gluttonous side.
So they started to walk towards the cafeteria, noticing that Fuutarou went far ahead while they were talking. They tried to reach him, stopping when they saw that Nino appeared and started to walk by his side. But that wasn't the only thing that they noticed; they also saw how Fuutarou smiled at the social butterfly, who blushed at his expression.
'Did she come to like him or something?', thought each quint, flabbergasted by how the haughty girl got along with the young man now. And Nino's blush upon seeing Fuutarou's smile made them more curious about her new behavior.
Meanwhile, the young tutor and the social butterfly were walking side by side and talking about some things, which were most on Fuutarou's past as delinquent and his childhood. Since he trusted her, Nino wanted to know more about him to understand even better the person that she felt connected with, telling him about her and her sisters' past in exchange.
"Why aren't you with those two friends of yours, Nino? You usually hang out with them as I remember.", he suddenly asked her out of curiosity.
She scowled and looked down, "I argued with them because they said some things that irked me, so I preferred going to lunch without them."
"Really? What did they say that annoyed you?"
Nino blushed and frowned, "They t-talked about you, Uesugi, saying things like you were a study freak and all. I know that I-I insulted you too in the past, but after you told me why you study so much, it irks me when some people badmouth you."
The young man was surprised by her words, as he didn't expect her to suddenly become protective of him to the point of hating when someone talked shit about him. "Heh, you don't need to worry about it, Nino. They don't know me well and just come up with rumors about me. It's also my fault for focusing exclusively on my studies everytime that I'm a loner, but it was the price to pay for becoming the top student. I did it with the hope to help my family at my best in the end.", he told her, giving her a headpat that made her blush deeply.
'H-he's patting my head again, it feels so nice. I wish that he caresses only my head and no one else's.', she thought, enjoying the gesture while smiling, even if her eyes looked a bit strange when she thought about "only my head and no else's." Still, Fuutarou didn't notice because Nino kept her gaze on the ground.
Some minutes later, they arrived to the cafeteria, attracting the attention of everyone at seeing one of the famous Nakano sisters together the most asocial boy of the school. Hearing some whispers again about Fuutarou annoyed Nino, who glared in the direction from which the whispers came from. She couldn't stand them, just like she couldn't stand the yakiniku without yakiniku that Fuutarou asked to the cafeteria lady.
"Excuse me, put the yakiniku on his dish, please. I will pay for my dish and his.", she told the lady, getting a nod and a smile from her.
"Ehh? Nino, you don't have to pay for my food."
The girl frowned at him and pointed a finger on his chest. "You need to eat more and healthily, Uesugi. I can't let you eat badly, so let me help you, ok? Paying for your lunch is not a problem for me."
He was again stunned by her behavior. "O-Ok, if you're sure about it. Thank you, Nino."
She smiled proudly at him and nodded, blushing when he thanked her in the same way he did on last Saturday; such words and that smile of his had a similar effect as it seemed. Once she and Fuutarou got their lunch trays, they searched for a table to start eating, finding one next to the windows.
Not wasting time, Fuutarou started to dig in his lunch, enjoying the taste of the meat and pulling off a nice smile that Nino liked very much while she was eating her noodles. It was as if eating alone with him made her very happy, and maybe it was also the reason why she pouted when her sisters sat down to their table as well.
"Ara ara, you get along very well with Fuutarou-kun, eh Nino? Coming here to the cafeteria together with him is something new from you.", teased her Ichika.
"I-I just trust him and don't see him anymore as a stranger. That's all.", replied the social butterfly, annoyed because she wanted to eat alone with him.
"Hehe, that's good! Then you will join our tutoring sessions and we can study all together with Uesugi-San!", said a cheerful Yotsuba.
"I-I will study by myself later at home.", retorted Itsuki while eating her udon and noticing, like Miku did, Fuutarou's lunch tray.
"Fuutarou, why do you have a completel yakiniku dish?", asked him the headphones girl.
"Nino paid for it, t-telling me that she can't let me eat poorly. Obviously, I thanked her for that.", he replied, blushing and scratching his cheek.
Miku and the other 3 quints looked then at Nino, who blushed and smiled, seeming happy that Fuutarou was so grateful for her gesture. 'Ok, she's really different from before; first she walks by his side, smiling and blushing, and then she worries about what he eats. Just what did they talk about last Saturday?', they wondered, very intrigued on what changed Nino and Fuutarou's relationship.
Though, they would probably never know it, as their sister didn't want to reveal to anyone what Fuutarou told her. The fact that he decided to tell his past to her and no one else made her feel special; it made her feel like he trusted her the most between her sisters, which made her very happy. She was also moved by how he didn't hold the fact she drugged him against her, as he forgave her without any problem.
The smiles and the headpats he gave her made her heart beat faster everytime, as sign of the interest that she developped for him. Still, the girl didn't know that her interest for the boy could become something more particular in the future; something that would change a lot of things in her relationship with Fuutarou.
A/N
Hello, everyone! Yeah, it seems absurd, but I decided to delete Wings of Silver to start instead this new and different fic. The reason for this is because I don't feel motivated anymore to continue Wings of Silver, as I have more motivation for this yandere Nino idea of mine.
As you can see, I began the story from the point in which Nino sees Fuutarou's old photo, but instead of lying, he told her the full truth about his past and why he strives to do his best in his studies, telling her also that he opened himself to her because he thought that she could understand him.
The girl was moved by this, feeling that there was a connection between her and him that he also felt, which caused her to develop an interest in him. Her sisters noticed the sudden change in Nino, but what they didn't notice is how she started to hate it when people badmouthed Fuutarou, like it happened with her friends.
Her interest brought her to be genuinely worried for Fuutarou's health when she saw what he eats at lunch and she also adores it when he smiles at her. Still, she can't stand that he gives attention to her sisters and she also showed to have an icy glare that scared her classmates. She won't be a bloody murderer or a yangire, as I aim for something different as yandere.
I hope you like this first chapter and don't worry about the other fics; I won't abandon them at all haha. I just find this idea more interesting of Wings of Silver. Anyways, leave a review to let me know what you think and stay tuned for more.
See ya!
