Blu, having just seen the ghosts of his parents, was a little shaken, but he eventually fell asleep again.
After a few hours, Blu was woken up by a bright light shining right beside him.
Blu: What is that?
The light dimmed as another ghost materialized before him. It had the appearance of his former owner Linda, who took him in when he was a chick, but unlike the real Linda, this ghost was the size of him.
Blu: Linda, is that you?
Ghost: Linda? Who's Linda? I am the Ghost of Christmas Past.
Blu: Are you one of the spirits that was told about?
Ghost: I am. Come with me, I have much to show you.
The ghost then grabbed Blu, which caused him to become as invisible as she was.
Ghost: There, now you can follow me.
Blu flew with the ghost over Rio, and as they flew further from the city, they flew faster and faster, until they slowed down, and arrived at a familiar place.
Blu: Hey, it's Moose Lake. This was where Linda found me and raised me as her own.
They watched as a young Linda noticed a crate with Blu as a frightened chick inside it.
Young Linda: It's okay, it's okay.
Young Blu: *chirp*
Young Linda: Shhhhh… I'll take care of you.
Ghost: You see, without Linda, you would have frozen to death in the street, or worse. Before you came to Rio, she loved you dearly, to the point where the two of you were inseparable. She was lucky to find you, because you wouldn't be where you are today without her, just as your mate and children wouldn't be where they are without you. But that was only the beginning.
Blu and the ghost then flew back to Rio, and arrived at the bird sanctuary not long after Blu finally flew for the first time and saved both Jewel and himself after she was injured.
Jewel was depressed, as she was unable to fly because of her broken wing.
Blu: Jewel, are you okay?
Jewel: *sigh* I'm just sad because I will be stuck in here for the next few weeks before I can fly again.
Blu: Well, I guess now we can relate to each other a little more, and at least you have me. I love you so much.
Jewel: You're right. Now I know what it was like for you when we first met.
Blu: Don't worry, we'll get through this, and before you know it, you'll be able to fly again. I will always be there for you.
Jewel: Thank you, Blu.
Ghost: She was very grateful to have you as a mate during her trying times, and when you moved to the Amazon, she had your back as you put up with her father.
Blu: Oh, don't remind me.
Then they flew to their hollow in the Amazon not long after Eduardo tried to show him the ins and outs of being in the wild.
Blu: I'll never fit in as a part of the tribe.
Jewel: Now, don't say that, Blu. It's not your fault at all, and neither is it my dad's. He is just worried that what happened to him when he was young doesn't happen to you.
Blu: What are you talking about?
Jewel: My dad was captured by smugglers years ago. He was just flying around looking for food, and then this net came on top of him, trapping him inside. The smugglers grabbed the net, and began to walk towards a cage. He barely made it out by chewing his way through the net with his beak as the smugglers were about to grab him. He's been teaching others to defend themselves ever since, so no other birds would fall victim to smugglers.
Blu: That explains a lot.
Jewel: Well, no matter what happens, I would never adandon you.
Blu: Thank you, this is why I love you.
Carla, Bia, and Tiago: And so do we.
Ghost: There have been moments where life hadn't gone your way, but no matter what, your family was always there for you and is thankful that you are there for them.
Blu: I can't believe I took my family for granted.
Ghost: Don't blame me, there are only shadows of things that have been.
Then the ghost got brighter and brighter until all Blu saw was white.
Blu woke up, back in his hollow, and only had a few minutes to think about everything he just saw, before the next spirit arrived.
