I know I have a lot of fics to update and finish, but this plot bunny wouldn't leave me alone.

This is set during Hiatus but is also a Judgement Day AU. The time line is wonky for creative purposes.. In this fic, Gibbs has been in Mexico for roughly six months using "vacation time" which is because Jenny never filed his retirement paperwork. What else happens? I suppose you will find out soon enough.

Disclaimer: I don't own much of anything, unfortunately. All I own is a love of fanfiction, the want/need for Jenny and Gibbs to be together, and the fear that I probably use too many commas. Any OCs and fanfic plots are mine too.

Enjoy!!

There are a lot of things that can change in the span of a year. Something as meaningless as a haircut or drastic as becoming the boss of your ex-lover... who also used to be your boss. For Jenny Shepard? She started her position as the first female Director of NCIS and turned down the opportunity to rekindle the flame of her relationship with her ex-lover. Six months after she started her tenure, the most upsetting, drastic change occurred.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs, ex-lover and the team leader for the Major Crime Response Team, was injured in an explosion that resulted in him going into a coma that lasted for two weeks. Doctors weren't sure if Gibbs was going to retain his memory after the concussion he sustained when his head landed on the pavement.

Unfortunately, he did not remember much at all.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into six months of not being at NCIS or in the States in general. It was downright strange- if that's the right word, to not have the quiet and respected team leader silently working or delivering Caf-Pows to Abby and head slaps to DiNozzo.

It was four months into his stay in Mexico, that Gibbs started to get his memories of Jenny, his boss and ex-lover back. One after another hit him; each one more heavy hitting than the last.

Five months of living in Mexico, brought all of his memories back. Along with his memories being brought back, came the all too familiar feelings of love for Jenny, frustration over the fact she turned him down, and the fact he was so attuned and in-sync with her, that he could tell when something was wrong.

Gibbs was debating on whether or not he should go back to DC and see Jenny and the team just to make sure that the people he called his family, were okay.

All it took to finalize his decision to hop on a flight back to DC, was a phone call from a very frantic Ducky, telling him that there had been an accident and he needed to come home.

Hopefully, you enjoyed this? I usually don't write in this style; usually, I just write as if I am the character and telling the story. This isn't fully a story. I am just posting it to see what you think. I also want to note that I have no update schedule and will write when I can.
