Hi, thanks for all the reviews you have been giving this work, Regarding the Andy question, I was planning ahead and picturing different scenarios for David and Haley's relationship and I realized something
I really hate love triangles and I hate when potential relationships take like three seasons to get together, I hate writing them, and I can't do it, it's not me, so I'm not making a love triangle, I don't think Andy is the type of meddling in others relationships just out of the blue and from what I have a plan for Haley and David, by the time Andy show's up he won't matter too much
But then I got another question, by the end of season 4 which I'm currently writing, I need to know what future David's going to take
And I need your help, I have three choices:
Option 1 Soccer player with a degree
Option 2 Chef and owner of a restaurant
Option 3 A corporate job that he loves (Lawyer, real estate agent, etc)
You get to decide just leave your reviews with the number and that will help me decide, ultimately the decision is mine but your help will be appreciated it
So with that being said enjoy the chapter
Chapter 5
David had trouble sleeping since the call, and tonight was no different, he was looking at the ceiling just thinking, nothing specific, just letting his mind wander
That's when he heard the phone ringing, he stood up and sat on the bed as he heard ruffling coming from Mitch and Cam's bedroom
He moved out of the bed and rubbed his face as he started walking towards their bedroom
He opened the door slowly and saw Mitch and Cam taking some clothes out of the closet
"What's going on?" David said putting his hands on his pockets
"Uh, sweetie, did we wake you up?" Cam asked as David shook his head
"No, I was already up, why are you changing?" David asked in curiosity
Cam and Mitch gave each other a look and Mitch nodded at Cam telling him that it was okay to be honest
"Haley got arrested," Cam said as David's eyes widened in shock
"What? How? Is she okay?" David asked a million thoughts running through his head
"We don't know, I'm going with Claire and Phil upstate to bail her out, and Cam's taking care of Luke and Alex," Mitch said as Cam grumbled
"Which Claire doesn't seem to be on board with," Cam said and Mitch swatted at his arm
David looked down, his mind filled with worry, all those cold texts and the tiredness he had seen on her several times came to mind once again and he made a decision right there and there
"Okay, let me get changed then," David said and the adult couple got confused
"What? David wait, I'll take care of this," Mitch said to Cam as the other partner nodded knowing that Mitch had a better bond than him and could get through the teen
"David, what are you doing?" Mitch said from David's doorway as he saw the teen picking clothes from his closet not acknowledging Mitch at all
"I knew it, I knew something was wrong, god I'm such an idiot," David mumbled to himself while throwing clothes on his bed "No actuo ese es mi problema, pudiendo haber habladole, con una fregada," David mumbled getting angrier by the moment
"David honey breathe," Mitch said putting himself in front of David as the teen took a deep breath and tried to calm himself "Good, now can you tell me what are you doing?" Mitch said and David blinked at him
"What does it look like, I'm coming with you," David said and now it was Mitch's turn to blink
"What? You are not mister, you have school tomorrow," Mitch said and David shrugged
"Is fine, most of the morning it was going to be college orientation, and I can just ask Emily for her notes," David said as Mitch grumbled
"That's not the point, what about attendance?" Mitch said as David raised an eyebrow at him "Okay, I know that's not a strong point, but you can't just not go to school," Mitch said and David sighed
"Mitchell, she's my friend, and I've noticed how tired she has been and I didn't do nothing," David said looking at Mithcell with sad eyes "If something happens to her and I wasn't there for her I'll never forgive myself," David said as Mitch looked down and hummed
"Besides you two always talk about how great your work is, and I kind of want to see you in action, see how cool you are in front row seat," David said smiling as Mitch sighed and narrowed his eyes
"Flattery? Really? You're resorting to that?" Mitch said rhetorically and David tilted his head
"I don't know, is it working?" David asked cheekily and Mitch sighed
"It is," Mitch said pinching his nose as David smiled in triumph "I'm only saying yes because knowing you, you would take your bike and ride after us," Mitch said ad David scratched the back of his head and laughed sheepishly
"Get dressed and meet me in the living room, I'll take care of Cam," Mitch said and David nodded feeling proud of his little win
Mitch went back to his room as David was left alone in his bedroom, he rubbed the back of his neck while looking at his outfits
"I really hope you're okay Haley," David whispered to himself as he sighed and started dressing up
"I'm very sorry again for waking you in the middle of the night," Claire said as both she and Phil alongside Mitch and David were driving upstate from the Dunphy household
"It's okay Claire, I'm just glad I can help," Mitch said and then Phil glanced at David
"Kiddo are you sure about this? You don't have to come with," Phil said and David smiled at him
"She's my friend, besides, it's like a little adventure," David said smiling and then looked out at the window "Besides she's my friend, and I'm worried about her," David said
"You know that may have been true at the beginning but then I realized I didn't want to stay with Cam," David said and then his eyes widened "Not like that, he's lovely, is just that he's been doing this diet, full vegan recipes and I'm a Mexican teen, I can't take it anymore," David said with frustration in his eyes "Is not my fault that I love big meals," David said exhausted
"Since when did you respect the speed limit, Claire?" Mitch asked in curiosity
"My daughter is in jail for drinking at a party, I'm letting her sit on it," Claire said "As a matter of fact I may do some outlet shopping, who wants a last-season pair of sunglasses," Claire said as Mitch and David share a look with each other
"Claire calm down," Phil said trying to touch Claire's shoulder
"No I won't calm down Phil, she's been in college for six weeks!" Claire said punching the wheel in frustration
"Yeah, and everyone gets a little crazy at the beginning," Phil said "I remember one during my freshman year, some of us from the frisbee golf team, we got a case of Zima," Phil said chuckling "Enough Zaid," Phil said as Mitch smiled at him in a sarcastic manner
"What's Zima?" David asked in curiosity as Mitch looked at him
"An alcoholic drink," Mitch explained and David made an ah sound and nodded his head
"Do you know the name of the precinct we're going?" David asked in curiosity as Phil and Claire looked at one another
"Um, I think it was the L.A. North County department," Phil said as David hummed "Why?" Phil asked in curiosity
"I used to live upstate, with my dad, and I made some friends with the policeman over there, maybe I could be of some help," David said calmly as Mitch looked at him in confusion
"May I know how are you friends with a police department?" Mitch said as David scratched the back of his head
"I may have or may have not vandalized a street sign with some graffiti," David said looking away from the adults as Mitch gasped
"You didn't, David!" Mitch said as David avoided his stare
"Police department didn't press charges and well that was the end of it," David said "Although I spent all of my day there, it was cool," David said as Mitch shook his head in exasperation
Phil and Claire look at the exchange in amusement as their stress eases up just a little bit
"You know, I'm normally having breakfast this time around," Phil said as Claire glared at him a little then she saw a phone call pop up on the car and answered it
"Hi Dad," Claire said trying to ignore Phil
"Hey, any update yet?" Jay asked in curiosity over the other line
"Not yet but we're almost there," Claire said
"Last time you were around the house, you were looking at a photo album," Jay said as Claire frowned in confusion "What did you do with it?" Jay asked in curiosity
"Um no that was me, Dad, I put it behind the bar counter," Mitchell said and Jay grew curios
"What are you doing there?" Jay asked in curiosity
"They asked me to tag along, in case they needed a lawyer," Mitch said and David leaned forward
"I'm also here, for emotional support," David said feeling proud as Phil chuckled at the teen's energy
"Oh that's nice David, but guys shouldn't you get a real lawyer?" Jay asked in curiosity
"Oh god, should we?" Phil asked Claire as she shrugged her shoulders not knowing what to do
"I'm a real lawyer people, environmental law is very important," Mitch said
"Don't get all sensitive on me, I mean someone that doesn't defend pandas," Jay said as David blinked
"Yeah Dad because that's what I do, I defend Pandas at court," Mitch said
"That's so cool/adorable," David and Phil said at the same time and Mitch blushed a little at David's thoughts
"You know what I'm talking about, Haley needs someone who knows Criminal Lay, like Perry Mason," Jay explained as Mitch rolled his eyes
"Okay so I'm not a real Lawer, but Perry Mason is?" Mitch said sarcastically and then they heard Jay curse and hang up the call confusing Claire a little
"Who's Perry Mason?" David asked in curiosity and the adults just sighed and remained silent and David knew he wouldn't get an answer so he just leaned back and proceeded to look out the window again
"I'm just calling to see if the kids got to school okay?" Claire was talking to Cam over the phone with Phil and Mitch next to her
David was trailing behind from the tiro just looking around taking it all in, it's been a while since he was here and now he wanted to see everything that had changed
"Can you believe how many waffle places we passed," Phil said as David patted his back consoling him
In honesty David too was hungry, and since Phil kept mentioning waffles he was craving some now "What were there-five, six?" Phil asked David who narrowed his eyes
"I think it was seven, there was a buffet on the way and I think they also serve waffles," David said as Phil sighed in defeat
"Can we focus?" Claire said and David and Phil nodded and also Mitch who was just complaining about being a real lawyer
"Hi, we're here for Halye Dunphy," Phil said putting his hands on his waist
"Hi I'm Mitchell Pritchett, I'm Miss Haley Dunphy's attorney," Mitchell said as the policeman in the reception just raised an eyebrow at him
"She won't be needing a Lawyer," The policeman said
"I'll be the judge of that," Mitch said taking out some papers and pretending to read them "I'd like to see my client thank you," Mitchell said
"All you have to do is pay the bail and that's it," The policeman said
"Oh really? That's… fantastic," Mitch said surprised and David was listening to the policeman with an intent focus
"Sir, I'm in no mood to defend my daughter, believe me," Claire said as Mitch was trying to stop her "But do you think the best use of resources is to lock up college kids that had a few drinks?" Claire said nonchalantly and the Policeman said
"Ma'am your daughter was charged for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer," The policeman said
"What?" Phil asked in shock as Claire was out of words
"Um. You probably should've called a real lawyer," Mitch said as David frowned, he got a sense that the policeman was dubious and then he recognized who he was and the tactic he was using, several attorneys whom he had met from time to time told him that sometimes policeman use scare tactics
It's not entirely correct but it is legal, the only way you could get away with that sort of thing, is to hire a lawyer, make a deal, go to court and fight it, or just pay the bail money, which most people just do to avoid the hassle, but this was a felony he was talking about so David figured that he needed to help
"Look, this has to be some sort of mistake, my daughter is tiny she couldn't have assaulted anyone, insulted maybe," Phil said "Was he wearing white socks and dark shoes? Because that sets her off," Phil explained
"Maybe you should watch this," The policeman said flipping the computer around
He played the video of a police car dash cam as they saw some policemen chasing some kids around and then one person falling on top of a policeman
"Well hold on, that feed is very blurry, how can we know that's Haley?" Mitch said and the policeman just looked at him and then at the monitor
Then in the video, another policeman caught the person that had fallen this being Haley as she put her hands up "Don't hurt me I'm just a student, my name is Haley Dunphy!" Haley said and David pinched his nose at the absurdity of the situation
David saw that Claire was about to take some money from her purse so he took action and touched her shoulder, Claire looked back and David asked her with his eyes if she could make some space for him to move forward
"Hi Frank," David said putting himself in front of the policeman as the adult in front of him sighed
"Martinez, no wonder my coffee tasted weird today, what are you doing here?" The policeman said with a frown as the Dunphy and Pritchett adults frowned in confusion
"Ah you know, visiting the old neighbor with my new foster family," David said as the policeman crossed his arms "Say can I see the video again, just from where Haley falls in the police officer," David said and Frank narrowed his eyes
"Why?" Frank asked in suspicion
"Well I mean you said she was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer, but if you see here," David said playing the video, "The officer asks that she put her hands up, and from that fall she was holding onto something wasn't she, I guess that she was holding onto the fire escape, am I right?" David said as Franked narrowed his eyes
"No matter, she does what she was told of and sadly she fell on top of the officer, which is curious since he had told her to freeze so he had a pretty good view of her and could have moved away or caught her but he didn't, but that's not here or there," David said as the adults where to in shock to say anything
"Then by the end, the other police officer arrives and she doesn't resist arrest, and she complies, funny isn't it?" David said as Frank grumbled
"I fail to see your point, Martinez," Frank said and David blinked
"My point, I thought it was obvious," David said chuckling, and then his eyes turned cold, "Drop the assault and resisting arrest charges, we'll take the misdemeanor, pay her bail and call it a day," David said coldly as the other Adult's eyes winded and Claire was going to say something but Phil put a hand on her shoulder noticing the confidence in David
"And why would I do that?" Frank said with a snort
"Because the other option is that we pay her full bail, we take the charges and we see you in court, for police abuse, because your little choomba here," David said playing the video again "Fail to read Haley her rights, didn't he?" David said as Frank eyebrow's twitched
"Fine, I'll see to it, take a seat we'll send you the bill and then we'll free your daughter," Frank said moving away to talk to another policeman
"Wha, whoa, David what was that?" Claire asked in shock as the other two adults nodded feeling the same way
"Assaulting a police officer is a felony, and no matter how light the punishment is that stays in your record, so I just swayed Frank's opinion a little so that they wouldn't charge it, a little law trick I picked up thanks to the old lady in the organization," David said cheekily and the adults blinked seeing how smart David was really
"Hey can I have a ten, there's a vending machine outside that sells Oreos and I'm hungry," David said as Mitch nodded out of words and just gave him a ten dollar buck and David cheered
"Sweet," David said rushing outside
"Mitchell, thanks for bringing him here," Claire said still dumfounded
"You're welcome," Mitch said feeling the same as his sister
"Wonder if he'd share a few with me," Phil said in curiosity
"What's taking so long?" Phil asked clearly anxious as David offered him another cookie which he gladly took
"I say buckle up people, these things tend to take a while," Mitch said confidently and David chuckled and ate a cookie too
"There she is," Phil said as they saw Haley exiting the back of the police department
David decided to wait a bit for the family to get their greeting out of the way before making himself known
"Thank god, are you okay?" Claire asked hugging Haley as the teen pushed her away a little "What were you thinking!?" Claire asked scolding
"What happened!?" Phil asked confused and Haley was about to explain but then David cleared his throat
"Hi sorry to interrupt," David said as Haley looked at him
"David!? What are you doing here!?" Haley asked mortified as David scratched his head
"I tagged alone," David said nervously "So guys, can we reserve the questions for when we leave here, I don't want them to overhear us," David said as Claire looked around at the policemen
"Right let's go outside," Claire said leading Phil and Haley away and David did the same with Mitch who was busy reading some paperwork, he put his remaining cookies in the pocket of his hoodie
"I hope I'll never have to see you again Martinez!" Frank said as the group turned back
"Me neither Frank! Say hi to your wife for me!" David said cheekily and Claire quickly grabbed him and ushered everyone outside
"What was that all about?" Haley asked in curiosity and David shrugged his shoulders
"It doesn't matter, so what happened young lady?" Claire said and Haley looked at her
"It's not a big deal, there was a party and people were drinking," Haley said noticing the frown on David's face and that piked her curiosity "Then the police showed up and everybody ran and I did too," Haley said "Then I started climbing down the fire escape stairs, then I heard a cop put your hands up, so I did," Haley said "And then I fell… on him," Halye said
"You could've been killed, Haley you're supposed to be an adult, how could you do something so childish," Claire said as Phil put a hand on her back and shoulder
"Okay, look let's calm down, we're all a little cranky and tired, The best thing we can do right now, is go get some waffles," Phil said as David got excited at the idea of some waffles
"I don't want waffles, Phil, okay?" Claire said as Phil and David's excitement died "I'm upset and I want to deal with this," Claire said pointing at Haley
"Oaky I got good news and bad news," Mitch said "They dropped the mayor charges, thank you again, David," Mitch said David felt proud as Haley looked at him oddly "But she will have a hearing this afternoon in front of a disciplinary committee to decide if she will stay on college or not," Mitch said as everyone else's eyes widen in shock
"What!?" Claire asked in shock
"No wait I got the last part wrong," Mitch said and everyone sighed in relief "Oh no I got it right, score, one for me!" Mitch said proudly as Claire shook her head in exasperation and walked away in anger
Phil and Mitch flowed suit leaving a shocked Haley standing next to David who was looking at her in worry
David moved forward and grabbed her hand breaking her shock, Haley looked at him with little tears in her eyes, David didn't speak, she didn't need that right now, instead, he just held her hand and offered her some cookies with his other
Her eyes widened as she took a cookie for her own and David squeezed her hand and led her forward
Haley leaned towards him as she held his arm in search of comfort as both teens caught up with the adults in silence
"To get that man a waffle," David saw Claire say as she walked away from Haley's dorm, which was such a mess, Phil had unloaded on Haley and David just hid a little in the closet not wanting to upset anyone
He moved a little and saw Haley looking down clearly frustrated "Rough day?" David asked cheekily and Haley glared at him "Sorry I tend to make bad jokes in uncomfortable situations," David said as Hely sighed and took a seat on her bed
"This is such a mess, I'm a mess," Haley said as David moved a shirt away and took a seat next to her "You know this is the moment when you tell me I'm not a mess," Haley said as David chuckled and put a hand on her back
"Do you want me to tell you that?" David asked in curiosity and Haley sighed
"No, I don't know what I want," Haley said and David rubbed circles around her back "I'm glad you came David, but why did you?" Haley asked and David looked at her
"Haley, how could I not?" David said as Haley looked at him "Ever since Halloween something has been bugging me, you looked tired, you were cold and distant, and then the next thing I heard is that you were in jail, and my heart dropped," David said and Haley blinked
"You were worried about me?" Haley said and David nodded
"Of course I was," David exclaimed as if anything else was just wrong with him
"You're cute, I don't think that many people would travel that far for someone like me," Haley said and David blinked
"For someone like you? What's that supposed to mean?" David asked in confusion
"Well no boyfriend of mine has ever done that, or even worried like you have," Haley said as David gave her a side hug
"I feel there's more to that, but this isn't the place," David said as Haley blinked at the sudden token of affection but she didn't mind it, she just adjusted her head on the space between David's neck and shoulder
"Have you eaten anything yet?" David asked as Haley's stomach grumbled and he chuckled "Seems I have my answer," David said rubbing her back
"Tell you what, go take a shower, get dressed, and meet me down at the dining room," David said as Haley moved away a little and looked at him
"What are you planning?" Haley said and David smiled at her
"No, no telling, it's a secret," David said cheekily and Haley gave him a pout, David looked down at he and stared into her eyes for a moment "Something is bugging you, Haley, so if you want to talk about it, you can join me downstairs," David said letting go of the hug and stepping away
"I'll see you at the dinner," David moving to the doorway as Haley nodded "Just don't use the fire escape, we both know how that went earlier," David said cheekily as Haley threw a pillow at him
"Shut up!" Haley said with a smile on her face as David went away laughing, Haley took a sigh and then her eyes widened when she saw her dorm
"Oh my god! I let him see this mess, what the hell I was thinking!?" Haley said in the interview with her hands on her head mortified "I let my crush see the mess I'm living, kill me now," Haley said and then she blinked "Crush, huh? That sounds nice," Haley said smiling like an idiot and holding her cheeks
After a while Haley had finished taking a shower and changing into a more formal outfit, she had walked down to the dinner to find David putting two breakfast plates on a table
"What's this?" Haley asked in curiosity
"Some eggs and bacon and a pancake slice," David said "I bribed the kitchen lady so she would let me cook you something, don't tell Mitchell," David said as Haley's eyes widened in shock
"You did this? For me?" Haley asked in shock and surprised
"Um yeah, is it too much?" David asked scratching his head and Haley squeezed his arm
"No, no it's wonderful, thank you," Haley said as David moved the chair for Haley to take a seat "Ah, what a gentleman," Haley said chuckling as David smiled nervously
"The old lady taught me well, every girl deserves it," David said as Haley smiled at him sweetly "So dig in, and tell me how it is," David said taking a seat in front of her
"You cooked for me, you moved my chair, this feels like a date," Haley said cheekily and David smiled and didn't miss a bit
"When I take you to a real date, and yeah I said when," David said smiling flirtatiously as Haley blushed "It's gonna be in a more romantic place than a college dining room," David said looking around
"Fair enough, I'll wait till then," Haley said as he grabbed a fork and started digging, she took a bite of the eggs, and then her eyes widened "Oh my god," Halye said as David smiled at her
"Try the pancake," David said as Haley said and she took a bite and held back her moan of delight
"This is so good! What the hell?" Haley asked in surprise "How?" Haley asked and David chuckled
"Timing, seasoning, and patience," David said taking a bite "Scrambled eggs need some time off the pan to get that good sweet flavor, give it some peppers and it gives up that spice that's just perfect, and for the pancakes, I added little chips of chocolate there and if you mix all the flavor to a certain point, it tastes so good," David said and Haley blinked
"I don't think the word good gives it justice," Haley said taking another bite "This is amazing," Haley said as David scratched the back of his head
"I don't think is that much," David said and Haley narrowed her eyes at him
"You don't give yourself credit, this is amazing," Haley said as David started eating
"Can we make a little pact?" David asked as Haley looked at him in confusion "That sounded weird, what I mean is that can we be honest with each other? No lying on the table my father would say," David said as Haley sighed
"Okay, honesty, I agree," Haley said as David nodded and leaned forward
"What's going on? Look I may not know you very long, but all of this, jail, the mess in your dorm, this doesn't seem like you," David said as Haley nodded and messed around with her food
"I would say is stress but I'd be lying," Haley said as she looked up "Have you ever felt that you're not good enough?" Haley asked and David nodded
"Most of my life, but go on," David said as Haley narrowed her eyes
"We'll circle back to that later 'kay?" Haley said seriously pointing at David with her fork "Maybe there is wrong with me, but nothing I do in class works, I try to pay attention to class but I don't understand anything, everyone seems to be able to do well, having fun in class and I don't, so I resort to usual the things I do," Haley said and David sighed
"Drinking and partying right?" David said with a little contempt for the word Drinking, a thing Haley noticed but decided to bring it later
"And then I spiral into the same mess I've always been, I just don't why I can seem to pick these things I'm dumb, I'm just broken," Haley said looking down
David sighed and took her hand with his own "Look, no one is perfect, everyone is a little broken, trust me I should know, but that doesn't mean you should feel down, is what we do with the things we have that counts," David said as Haley looked up
"And you're not dumb, you're kidding, you're one of the smartest girls I've ever met," David said and Haley snorted
"Yeah right, all the colleges I applied to rejected me, I was failing most all my classes in high school, and some I did, and I've made poor decisions after another, I am stupid," Haley said and David frowned
"Hey stop it," David said forcefully as Haley got surprised "Sorry but even me, the mayor of self-pity town. can only take so much," David said as Haley sniffed
"You may have not academic smarts, and the poor decision I think is another thing to blame not you," David said and again Haley noticed the disgust on his face again "But that doesn't mean you're not smart, you're able to pick apart a person outfit in seconds, you fit in anything social situation you want, and when you want things, you get them, and that's things that just came to mind for a guy that has only known you for less than a year," David said as Haley blinked feeling a little amazed at what David was saying
"You're one of the most bright and savvy people I've met, you have incredible street smarts, you just haven't found where to apply them," David said squeezing her hand
"You really think that?" Haley asked and David nodded
"I believe it, you're many things Haley, but dumb is not one of them," David said as Haley smiled and looked down, she moved her thumb over his hand feeling happier than before
"Thank you, no one has ever said that to me," Haley said as David raised an eyebrow at her "Normally they compliment my figure or my looks, no one actually has called me smart," Haley said as David frowned
"Well is long overdue," David said as Haley blushed and chuckled
"You're something else," Haley said and then the thing that she had put on the back of her mind came rushing back
"Hey David," Haley said and David looked up in curiosity "I mentioned several times drinking and alcohol and you reacted with disdain and disgust, like that," Haley said pointing at David's disgusted face "Can I ask why is that?" Haley said as David blinked
"Um, it's nothing really," David said and now it was Haley's turn to squeeze his hand
"David, what did we say? No lying on the table," Haley said as David sighed
"Look, I'm not judging, every person has the freedom to live his life the way they want," David said with a sigh "I just don't like alcohol," David said and Haley raised an eyebrow at him
"There's more to it, isn't it? Don't worry I won't take it bad," Haley said and David looked at her
"Alcohol clouds your judgment, and brings out the worst of people, is poison," David said "It doesn't do anything good, and only serves to turn decent and good people into monsters and burn every connection you ever had manage to build," David said as Haley's eyes widen, his hate ran deeper than she realized
"Can I ask where this hate came from? If you don't mind me prying," Haley asked and David shook his head
"It's fine when it comes to you I feel I can talk about anything," David said as Haley's eyes widened again and she smiled a little "I saw a loving and caring father turn into a raging alcoholic monster at first hand, in the span of two years thanks to alcohol," David explained as Haley's words fell over and she could only stared ahead in shock
"Be careful with the drink, you're a good soul, I would hate to see you lose yourself on that drink," David said looking straight into her eyes and then continued eating
Halye blinked and looked down, she didn't have any more words to say so she just squeezed his hand
Both teens continued eating their breakfast in silence just enjoying each other's company and holding each other hands
Then once they were done and ready to leave, David spoke up once again "Before we go, I have to ask one more thing?" David said as Haley looked up
"What is it?" Haley asked in curiosity
"What do you want to do? With the hearing and all," David asked as Halye hummed
"With the meeting with college authorities?" Haley asked and David nodded "I don't know, what do you think I should do?" Haley asked and David mused a little
"Well, if you want to stay, I think the best way is for you to just be honest, tell them you made a mistake and that it won't happen again, and try to reach an accord instead," David said as Haley nodded but he did see something else in her eyes
"But is that what you want to do? Stay here?" David asked in curiosity as Haley blinked
"What's that supposed to mean? Of course, I want to stay in college," Haley said and David tilted his head
"Haley, no lying on the table, besides it's me, not your parents, I won't judge you," David said and Haley sighed
"I don't know what I want," Haley said in frustration and she looked down "I just want to go home," Haley said and David nodded
"Then let's take you home," David said squeezing her hand and she gave him a small smile
"I know I said to be honest, but I wasn't expecting that much," David said cheekily as he and Haley were sitting on a bench waiting for the adults to bring the car around
"Shut up, every time I get nervous I tend to ramble on and on," Haley said holding her head between her hands
"You didn't really know the mascot?" David asked chuckling as Haley narrowed her eyes at him "Go wildcats? Where did you get that, high school musical?" David asked chuckling and Halye shoved him away playfully
"Shut up, I panicked okay?" Haly said as David chuckled at her "What am I going to do now?" Haley said with a sigh and David put a hand on her back again
"Right now, just take a break, you've been through enough already," David said as Haley looked at him "Then we can come up with a plan for the future," David said as Haley blinked
"We?" Haley asked in confusion
"Um, well I just want to help, but I'll stay out of the way if you want," David said nervously and Haley's eyes grew big
"No, no I didn't mean it like that sorry, is just that, you have done plenty for me, are you sure you want to keep helping me? I'm just going to tire you out," Halye said and David smiled at her and put a hand on her shoulder
"I'll never get tired of you," David said Haley sniffed and then moved forward and planted her face on his chest almost taking the breath out of him
"Thank you so much, for being here for me," Haley said battling the tears as David put his arms around her
He didn't offer any more words and just let her take comfort in his presence hoping there would be more times when she would call out for it
