Chapter Forty- Nine
~Kana's POV~
Kana waited until the allotted five minutes had gone by before she nodded at Yuto and they both took off for the Ugly House. Kana opened a portal into the back stairway and pulled Yoshi in with her.
"Remember, make it loud." Kana reminded him in a quiet tone as they huddled on the landing together.
"What if I get killed?" Yoshi asked in slight fear and anxiety. His voice dipped, getting a bit into his Russian accent.
"You're half robot. Yuto will bring you back." Kana stated nonchalantly. Yoshi gave her a look of disbelief before Kana sighed and spoke again, trying to pacify him. "Okay, look, if you find yourself in trouble, get somewhere dark and call for Yuto. He'll bring you out and to safety. Got it?" Yoshi nodded. "Okay good." Kana made a portal inside Shina's bedroom. She had a good view from the back of Shina's bedroom door of the woman that was kneeling beside Shina. Kana frowned as she saw her hand on Shina's forehead, a blue light was connecting them. "Yoshi, make it good and loud." Kana quickly closed her portal as Yoshi cleared his throat before he suddenly let out a blood-curdling scream.
"AAHHHHH!" Kana flinched from the sound, but she didn't hear anything that sounded like the woman was coming closer. Kana nodded at Yoshi and he let out another scream. Kana opened a portal to view the den area from behind Shina's door again. The woman had gotten up and was going towards the back stairs.
"Go Yosh." Kana whispered quickly, half in panic as she jumped through the portal and closed it behind her. Kana heard Yoshi's loud footsteps running down the stairs. The woman ran to the stairs and threw open the door to the back stairwell. Kana took that chance to make a portal to grab Shina and Dabi. It was a bold strategy, but she didn't have any other plans in this moment. Since Shina and Dabi were touching she needed to make the portal by Dabi's head and then move the portal down to envelop both like it was a full body scan. Kana dumped them both on the lawn in front of the Ugly House.
Once that was done Kana quickly moved out from behind the door as Yoshi let out another loud scream that made Kana flinch. The woman had left the third floor and was following him down the stairs leaving Kana to do what she needed. Kana quickly ran to the main stairs, managing somehow to not trip as she quickly slid down the stone steps to see Shigaraki lying on the steps. He was out cold and Kana took a second to stare at him before she shook herself out of it. Kana made another portal and dumped him on the lawn, half on top of Shina and Dabi. She grimaced but figured that if Shigaraki didn't have any head injuries, he was fine. Besides, no one would tell him she'd been the one to dump all three together.
That done, Kana started looking for anyone else on the second floor. After what felt like a long a painstaking process, Kana didn't find anyone else up on the second floor and looked downstairs in time to see a man coming up behind Kai. Kana couldn't open her mouth in time to warn Kai from getting hit behind the head. He went down hard.
"Hey!" Kana called down to the man who knocked Kai out. Kana didn't know what she was thinking as she made a portal under the guys foot and had him drop from the third floor to the first floor. He yelled out as he fell and hit the marble flooring on the first floor. When the guy landed she heard a loud popping sound and prayed he was alive as he fell limp. Kana's pink eyes narrowed on the guy, and she sighed in relief when she saw he was still alive.
"I should've expected more of you." Kana whirled around in a panic and saw the woman standing on the third-floor landing. Her long dark hair contrasted with her pale skin and black eyes. Her sudden appearance made Kana yelp in surprise and fear.
"Eep!" Kana ran to the second floor back stairwell. The woman ran after her but for once, Kana was faster. She opened and shut the door before the woman could get to it. "Man, all that hero training's paid off." Kana quickly looked over the stairwell railings. "Yoshi?" She called. There was no answer. Kana prayed he'd been picked up by Yuto as she formed a portal to the front lawn and jumped through, leaving the Ugly House.
Shina, Dabi and Shigaraki were alive, but they were still asleep. It would be better to get them somewhere safer than the front lawn, Kana mused as she looked around and saw the car. Kira was in the back seat. Kana bit her lip before she made her decision. She made another portal to Shina's basement garage. She carefully dumped Shigaraki, Dabi and Shina inside before she closed the portal and went to get Kira as well. Another portal later and Kana was placing Kira against Shina's side. 'They should be safe here…hopefully.' Kana thought to herself before she remembered this was Shina's garage.
"Uh, Kitana?" Kana called out in a hesitant voice.
"Yes Miss Kana?" The AI's response made Kana sigh in relief. Something was going their way.
"Can you lockdown the garage?"
"Yes Miss Kana." The windows and doors were covered with a metal covering before a loud click sounded. "The garage is secure." Kana relaxed. "Oh, uh, can you find Yuto or Yoshi?"
"I am sorry Miss Kana I am unable to access the Ugly Houses mainframe currently. I am contained to the underground tunnels and garages." Kana nodded, thinking it through. Either Shina hadn't been able to extend her AI or the Ugly House mainframe was compromised. Either way, not a good way to gather intel.
"Okay thank you." Kana didn't want to leave her sisters with the two League villains, especially unconscious, but she needed to know how the others were doing. Kana took a deep breath and opened a portal to James' dorm room. James was relaxing on his bed, on his phone, but when he saw Kana he sat up with an offended look.
"I knew it! You traitors were doing something without me." Kana rolled her eyes at James' accusation. It was true but it wasn't necessary right now.
"Yes we were okay. But I need your ears so are you coming or not?" James got up off his bed, already dressed in his black suit.
"Coming." He jumped through the portal, landing beside Kana easily. He saw Shina, Kira, Dabi and Shigaraki and gave Kana a look. "What the? What happened?"
"I'll explain in a second okay?" Kana snapped. "Okay, listen up. The tech is down in the Ugly House. Yoshi can't hack into it. Kai was knocked out. I don't know where Claude, Jean Von, Yuto and Yoshi are currently, but I think they're in the house that is currently invaded by three people? I took out one guy so it may just be a chick and another one. They knocked out the League and Shina so that should tell you a lot about how good they are. You can hear a lot, so I need you to listen for anything upstairs. Are you ready?" James nodded, a serious look on his face.
"You know if you'd just brought me when you guys came then-"
"I wanted to! But Kai said no. You can talk to him about this." Kana yelled in outrage, she wasn't in the mood to get told 'I told you so'. She was stressed enough with having to worry about Yuto and Yoshi. James grumbled.
"I will. Now let's go." Kana nodded and formed a portal to take them to Shina's bedroom.
"Can't we just take the stairs?" James asked as he stepped through with Kana.
"I already locked the garage so no one can get down there." Kana stated. James' ears flicked, perking up and James turned his head to the bedroom door. His body tensed. Kana reacted to his body language.
"Single footsteps coming this way. Sounds light. Slow breathing. Either a woman or a slender male. They know we're here." James reported. Kana nodded.
"Should be a single female. Don't hurt her. Her quirk is probably being used on the sleeping bodies." James grumbled as Kana got into a position to attack.
"Quirk?" James asked, crouching down.
"I don't know but she was doing something to Shina earlier so something with the mind maybe?" Kana received a glare, but she didn't take it personally. "I don't know okay! I wasn't exactly given time to spy on them."
"Useless." James muttered. Kana really wished she could've been closer to him just so she could have smacked his head for that insult. She wasn't useless but he always annoyed her in this way. They turned their attention to the bedroom door as it suddenly burst open and the woman from earlier came through. She narrowed her eyes at James and pulled out some metal needles. Kana formed a portal under the woman and caught her foot in the portal making the woman stumble as James leapt at her and slammed her backwards. Kana saw the hand being raised but James was quicker and grabbed the needle before he lashed out with his clawed hand and slashed the woman's arm, making her cry out as she let the needle go.
Kana looked out the door quickly but didn't see anyone coming to help the woman as James got the woman pinned down.
"AH!" Kana turned and saw the woman sticking another needle into James leg. Kana's eyes widened in shock and slight fear. The needle was quite large and there was some blood coming out of James' leg. Kana watched as James suddenly went limp and fell onto the woman. Seeing her brother fall prompted Kana to quickly run over and grab the needle before she used it to stab the woman's hand as well.
"NO!" The woman cried out loud. "You stupid…girl…" Her eyes closed and she fell limp as sleep claimed her as well. Kana honestly wasn't sure what to do now.
"KAI! CLAUDE! JEAN VON!" Kana yelled out as she got up and ran to the bedroom door. She wasn't adult enough to handle this. She didn't want to handle this alone. Kana froze as she saw another man coming up the stairs. "Oh crap." The man held a gun and aimed it at her. Kana couldn't move as the man pressed the trigger.
~Yuto's POV~
Yuto had been shifting through the shadows and peeking through the areas that were covered in shadow. He'd met Yoshi in the stairway at the back and gotten him out, leaving him with the car out front. He'd seen Kira was gone and there were no other bodies, so he'd gone back into the Ugly House. He'd found Claude and Jean Von attending to Kai and another guy that looked like he'd been dropped from above.
"Looks like Kai got this one taken care of." Claude spoke as he put a quirk inhibitor on the man that was unconscious.
"He looks like he was dropped from above." Jean Von stated. Claude tensed and looked up at the same moment Jean Von did. "No, there is another." Yuto was lost as both Claude and Jean Von quickly ran up the stairs just as he heard Kana yelling out. Yuto jumped into the shadow and reappeared under Shina's bed. He saw Kana frozen in the doorway.
"Kana?" Yuto called as he crawled out of the shadows. Kana stumbled backwards with a dart in her stomach. Yuto's eyes widened and he jumped forward to try and catch her before she fell. He barely grabbed her in time. Yuto shook her. "Kana!" She didn't wake up.
"You idiots." Yuto looked up at the man in the doorway. He didn't get to reload as two loud pops came and he screamed out as he fell to his knees. Yuto wasn't sure what happened until he saw Jean Von coming up and hitting the back of the man's head making him fall forward.
"Is he-?"
"He will live. How is Kana?" Jean Von asked as he ran forward. Yuto looked down at Kana, checking her pulse.
"She's alive. But why… what…"
"She went and grabbed James as well." Yuto looked at Jean Von who was looking behind him. Yuto turned his head and saw James lying on top of a woman with a needle in her hand. James had a needle in his leg. Yoshi cursed under his breath. This wasn't the ideal situation but at least they had managed to stop the intruders. But how would they wake them up? Yoshi didn't have an answer but he hoped Claude or Jean Von had an idea. Claude entered the room and helped pull James up to check his pulse.
"He's alive as well."
"How did this even happen?" Yuto asked, looking between his siblings and the woman before he looked at Claude and Jean Von. "What happened?"
"I don't know Yuto." Jean Von spoke, putting a hand on his shoulder. Yuto met his eyes, focusing on him. "But we will figure things out. We have the intruders who entered our home. We must check on the others and gather everyone else up. Can you help with this?" Yuto nodded; a bit shaken but he resolved himself. This wasn't that hard. Least no one died. They were just…sleeping.
"Grab the woman and James and take them downstairs to the front hall where Kai is. Put the woman by her crumpled compatriot." Claude ordered. "I will bring the other along shortly. Jean Von-"
"I shall bring Miss Kana." Jean Von stated as he pulled the traq dart out of Kana before he got his arms under Kana's body and pulled her into a princess carry. "I'll be glad she's light." Yuto didn't respond as he moved to touch the woman and James. The three of them melted into shadows as Yuto dragged them into the darkness with him. He fell to the first floor before he dropped the woman to the floor and tried to gently drag James out to put him by Kai.
Yuto saw the broken man was just coming to. He moved over to stand in front of the man, allowing him to glare down at the man as he groaned and opened his eyes. Yuto formed his shadows and wrapped them around the man, pulling him up to his face.
"Whatever you're feeling, I will make it worse if you don't tell me why you're in our house." Yuto threatened. His voice was cold and clear. A voice he'd only had to use once before, one his siblings didn't know he possessed. Yuto felt the room's lighting flicker as shadows danced around the room briefly. The man seemed to inhale in fear as he watched Yuto with wide eyes.
"Y-you're a Nara?" Yuto frowned.
"Tell me why you're in our house!" His voice was louder, slightly unhinged as his eyes turned pure black, leaving no whites. The man's face paled considerably as he started stuttering in fear.
"W-we were eliminating the people who were hunting us! W-we d-didn't know you were also Nara!" Yuto blinked, the shadows fading in the room. His eyes shifted back to normal as he frowned in confusion.
"What? What's that got to do with anything?" The man babbled making Yuto roll his eyes as he pulled the man closer. "Stop stuttering and tell me, before I drag you into my shadows. Believe me, you don't want that." The entire rooms dimmed as what sounded like shrieking and wailing sounded as well as a chill. The man nodded so Yuto lessened the presence of the Shadow Realm. He listened intently as the man started to talk.
"We knew someone was following us. Watching us. Nara's are linked to shadows, madness and the in between. We've been sought after before for our Quirks. Many of our clan members were killed after the last villain/hero war. We've all stayed hidden to survive. When we saw the girl following us, we thought he was one of our enemies. So we tracked her down and hit her before she could harm us." The man babbled as quickly and clearly as he could. Yuto's eyes narrowed. "We found her tablet and phone and figured we'd hit her compatriots before they could come after us. We just want to live peacefully, our own lives. But then more showed up, you showed up. I swear we didn't know you were Nara as well, if we had I know Kurai wouldn't have attacked you. Her Shadow Sleep doesn't work that well on other Nara."
"What do you mean 'Shadow sleep'?" Yuto asked quickly. "What does that do?"
"Her needles make anyone fall asleep. They start to experience their worse nightmares and memories. But Nara's who are stronger than her are able to take control, somewhat, and can redirect the flow of the dreams." The man stated. His eyes flicked behind where Claude and Jean Von had brought Kana, James and Yuto was guessing, Alemi down. The man's eyes widened. "Alemi? No she's- she's not supposed to be asleep. She never sleeps!"
"I'm guessing my siblings stabbed her with her own needle." Yuto states, glancing at the man before he asked. "What happens if Alemi sleeps?"
"She-She could get lost in the dreamworld. Your siblings and friends won't be able to wake up if she's stuck in the dream world as well." Yuto felt a cold chill run through him before he looked at Claude and Jean Von. Their faces were stern and contemplative.
"Shina and the others don't know. We need to tell them." He stated.
"How you figure tha'? They're asleep. We can't exactly wake them." Jean Von spoke. His words made sense to Yuto, but the answer came before he'd even had a change to think it over.
"Send me in then." Yuto stated firmly. "Grab the needles and poke me. Let me tell them."
"No it won't work. Alemi's needles need to be touched by her and she needs to be conscious." The man stuttered. Yuto glared at him in irritation. This was…a complication. Still, all things considered, it wasn't even a top 10 for them. Yuto looked at the man.
"How does Alemi's quirk work then?" The man flinched from the cold tone Yuto held. The sounds of shrieking and wailing came again, louder as the room darkened before the man spoke.
"Okay! Alemi is able to connect people in a dream as long as they are touching. If she was also touching them, there's a chance that she could meet with your Nara siblings and they could…hopefully, work out a solution." Yuto nodded as he dropped the man.
"We need the others. We can lay them in a circle or however as long as they're all connected." Jean Von and Claude nodded and they got to work on getting everyone from inside the house together. Yuto left the man with a glare before he went to find the others. Hopefully, this would work. If it didn't, he was going to be lonely with just Kana to annoy.
~Shina's POV~
"What did you do?" Shigaraki glared at Shina as his father or that's who Shina guessed it was, disappeared. Her own defiance and brat energy snapped into place. She didn't like it when people yelled at her for doing what she thought was right at the time.
"What do you mean what did I do?" She snapped back at Shigaraki. "I yelled at him, and he went poof! Forgive me if I'm not just gonna stand around and let someone yell at you like that! If I don't like being yelled at I sure as hell ain't standing around to watch someone else get yelled at, especially a child!" Shigaraki clenched his jaw and his fists. His red eyes flashed with anger that bordered on insanity. Shina didn't get a chance to say anything before the scenery changed again. This time it was a younger Kira and Kana who were walking on a balcony in Russia.
"So…you don't know any TV shows, movies or books?" Kana was asking. She was wearing regular black cargo pants and the thick black jackets that the Russians insisted on providing to the Nara's while with them. Her nose was a bit red from the wind and cold while her hair blew in the sharp, cold, howling winds of the mountainous range they were currently in.
"Such things are trivial. The only books I need to know are for missions." Kira stated in a calm and logical voice. Her hair was slicked back in a braid and her expression was colder than it was currently. She was stiff and rigid, in her manners. Kana frowned.
"So, you don't know anime?" Kira's face flickered. She looked around before her body language shifted slightly. Kana caught her hesitation and leaned forward. "I won't tell anyone. Trust me. I watch things that my sister doesn't know about either."
"…I do watch some…anime when I am on missions. It's the only time I can manage to." Kira admitted softly. Shina looked at present-day Kira who was smiling proudly.
"This is how you two became friends? Over anime?" Shina asked in a slightly sarcastic tone as the memory played out with Kana and Kira talking in hushed tones about anime and who their favorite characters were. Kira nodded sheepishly, a smile on her face.
"It helped us bond. Obviously it worked very well."
"Yeah I'm not gonna judge." Shina said in amusement, a slight chuckle in her tone as the scenery changed again. This time the four stood on a beach. The ocean was a dark blue while white sands and brown rocks were on either side making it look like a private beach. A different Shina was sitting on the sand. Her black hair was a mess and there were dark circles under her eyes as the sun rose in the distance.
"What's the point of these memories?" Shigaraki growled as he stepped up beside Shina. He was glaring at her again as if this was her fault that they were flying through memory lane.
"I think we've established that we don't have the remote." Shina grumbled. "It's just… random." A suddenly flapping and whooshing sound came before they all looked up to see a man drop down from the sky. He had four white, feathery wings on his back. Turquoise eyes and pink hair contrasted with his tan skin and easy smirk. He landed in a slight crouch but stood up after a moment, his wings shifting to be more comfortable along his back.
"Hey there dove, rough night?"
"Who's this guy?" Dabi's voice sounded rude as a small frown crossed his face. She rubbed her eyes as her other arm wrapped around her waist.
"Eros." Shina sighed as he sat down beside the past Shina. "My…therapist?"
"He doesn't look like a therapist to me." Shigaraki grumbled as they watched Eros wrap an arm around her shoulder. His wings flared as if to enclose the past Shina from her troubles. Past Shina leaned against him and nodded her head. They looked like lovers from the way Eros held Shina against him. Shina suddenly understood the jokes that her sisters made about her and Eros so much better now. Still, she wouldn't have dated Eros even if he was the last man on earth. He was just a friend to her, that was all.
"Had the nightmare again…" Past Shina spoke softly, barely heard over the sound of the ocean waves. "I couldn't do anything."
"It's okay to stumble and fall dove. You're not going to get better overnight. You're doing remarkably well. You're strong. Remember that you no longer have to go through that ever again, you're free. He can't hurt you here. I won't let him. Your siblings won't let him." Eros spoke seriously. "You're safe here."
"I know…I know that, but I can't seem to get out of that mindset in my room. Being on the beach helps. Reminds me I'm not there, in that snow." Past Shina ran her hands through the sand absentmindedly. "What's on the agenda today?"
"…we can have some fun. I think you've been doing a good job lately. How about we go get some breakfast and then we can have dinner on the yacht? You know I like seeing you try to beat me in the water." Eros grinned at past Shina.
"I…honestly can't explain that friendship." Shina said before the scenery changed to the League's bar. Shigaraki was sitting at the bar talking to All for One through the monitor while Kurogiri was rubbing down a glass behind the bar as he usually was.
"I don't see the point in hiring thieves! They're nothing but spineless, useless liars with no honor or loyalty." Shina and Kira glanced at present-day Shigaraki who grumbled and folded his arms, not backing down from his past words. Dabi was snickering softly on the side.
"These thieves are different Shigaraki. They are powerful and will help you to achieve your purpose." The screen changed to show a video of the Nara clan. Sunfire's hair was red in this as she sat with Kana, James and Yuto in an undisclosed diner. They were eating and laughing together. "They consider each other a family."
"And how sure are you that they will work with us? They don't look like villains to me." Shigaraki grumbled. "They look weak."
"Appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes true power is found in the weakest and ill-formed candidates. These thieves are very well known and are wanted by every major police organization in the world. Considering how I found them and what I have gathered about them, they will work with us."
"You'd coerce them master?" Shigaraki asked.
"Yes." All for One chuckled. "It won't be hard."
"How can you trust them not to betray you?"
"I knew their grandfather once." My eyes narrowed as this held my interest. I studied the words and screen of All For One, wondering. "I knew how loyal and hardworking he was. It won't be hard to see the same signs if they try to betray me." Past Shigaraki watched the video as it focused on each of the Nara clan members from Yuto to Kana to James and then to Shina. Shigaraki nodded.
"Alright fine. How do we get a hold of them?"
"I will handle this Tomura Shigaraki." Kurogiri spoke. "I have already managed to make contact with Giren who assures me he can have Sunfire come to a meeting with us."
"Sunfire?" Shigaraki snorted. "Kinda name is that?" Shina gave Shigaraki a deadpan as the memory changed suddenly.
"Never knew my name bothered you Shiggy." Shina rolled her eyes at Shigaraki who scoffed.
"It's a stupid name."
"You're a stupid name."
"Nice come back." Dabi snickered. Shina stuck her tongue out at him. Kira blinked.
"I wish Kana was here." The four suddenly heard a loud shrieking before the landscape went black. Shina tensed as Kira put her back to hers. Dabi and Shigaraki looked around, frowning, all humor was gone as another loud shrill shriek came and then black shadows started to dart to and fro, smacking their heads and bodies randomly.
"The hell is that?" Kira yelled. Shina wasn't sure how to answer as she suddenly reached out her hand and grabbed something. It felt like an arm, but it suddenly disappeared when she activated her quirk, her body lighting up like a firecracker.
All around them were dark, shadowy figures that looked like demons or skeletal ghosts flying around. Shina extended her light to enclose Dabi and Shigaraki from the things, whatever they were. A voice from the shadows called over the shrieking.
"Tenko~" Shina saw Shigaraki tense as he looked to the side where the child-like voice had come from. Another voice called out, but it sounded older, it was female as well.
"Tenko!"
"Touya~" Shina turned and looked at Dabi who had tensed and looked behind him at where the loud male voice was calling to him.
"Oh I don't like this Shina." Kira stated, uneasily. I frowned, extending the light and making it brighter, forcing the shadows back.
"Shina…" The whisper came, sounding like it was directly in my ear before cold hands latched onto my ankles. I looked down in shock but didn't have time to react as I was pulled down through the dark floor suddenly.
The surface of the floor bounced and ripped like water, leaving no trace of Shina behind.
~James' POV~
James never was one to like change. He could handle it fine, but as a cat boy, he much preferred that things stay the same. They were more predictable that way. Of course, given everything he'd had to go through, you'd think he'd be an expert at change, but no…he still hated it. Which is why when he found himself looking up at his mother, his young, beautiful, Parisian, dead mother… he freaked out and started hissing up a storm.
"James? Don't be scared kitten, you're alright." He knew the voice, it hurt, oh it hurt to hear again. He'd tried to forget her and his father. But apparently some sick god decided that wasn't in his favor.
Hisss
His small 4-year-old body was clumsy but he was still able to make his tail puff up in warning. His mother…she simply giggled. James found himself being picked up suddenly and he went limp, his tail curling around him as another louder growl came. That growl belonged to his father.
Grrr…
James' eyes widened as he looked at his father. The strong features and tan skin along with the black hair caused his ears to flatten as he whimpered.
"Don't scare him Ed." His mother laughed as she took him and cradled him in her arms. James whimpered as his mother held him. "Shh, don't cry little one. You're okay." The words in French took on a new meaning, one that had his eyes watering. He hated crying. He didn't like doing it. But his eyes were overflowing with tears as he felt the gut wrenching feeling of sadness, loss and heartache hit him even more. James jerked himself out of his mother's arms and ran.
He didn't know where he was going but he knew he didn't want to stay with his parents. As much as he would have loved to believe that he couldn't. He knew it was nothing but a lie. An illusion.
James wasn't sure how long he ran for, but he knew it was pretty far as he'd transitioned to running on his hands at some point. By the time he came to a stop he was panting and gasping. The urge to cry was still there but he was getting over it. He let out a low rumble, unsure where it came from or why.
"Why are you crying?" The voice was new, James looked up. He hadn't felt or smelled anyone coming close to him. Before him, stood a large black cat with luminous green eyes. The cat flicked its ears lazily. James blinked before he relaxed. Cats talked to him regularly. This wasn't anything new.
"Someone tried tricking me into believing a lie." He murmured in a low voice. The cat purred.
"Hmm, that does happen quite a lot with us cats. Why did you think it was a lie?"
"Because my parents are dead. They've been dead a long time."
"Ah, yes that adds up." The cat came closer to him. "So what are you going to do now? You ran pretty far." James thought about it. What was he going to do? He didn't even know where he was. James looked around him but, it wasn't anywhere he recognized. It was dark with no discernable features around him. He looked back at the cat, but it was gone.
James stood up, finding himself in his normal fifteen-year-old body. The landscape around him hadn't changed. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he had a feeling it was a Quirk. James picked a direction and started to walk. He wasn't sure why or what drove him, but he figured if he was here, then he'd eventually hit a wall and if he hit a wall, he could blast his way out of here. Instead, the further he walked, the brighter it got. There still weren't many features around him but he was hearing some whispers of some kind. Whenever he looked around for the voices though the whispers stopped. It was maddening and making his tail puff up in irritation.
Eventually, James came to a large white room that had windows. Only outside the windows was darkness and what looked like stars. Inside the room, it was empty save for a woman that was kneeling on the floor. James' eyes narrowed. It was the woman who'd attacked him in Shina's bedroom. She was kneeling on the floor, her arms were holding her body as if she was afraid of breaking into pieces. Soft crying sounds came from her.
"…trapped, trapped, I'm trapped…no escape here…"
"Hey!" James called out to her in a loud voice. She heard him from the way she flinched. She looked up at him, her expression was that of a surprised deer. "You have a lot of nerve lady! You can't just come into our house and then bring us here and now… what are you doing? Crying? Why? We're supposed to be fighting so let me out of this place, it's weird!"
"You…how did you find me?" She asked. James face screwed up in disbelief and confusion as well as outrage.
"What do you mean how did I find you? I walked here! Now get up and get us out of here!" James ordered. The woman didn't move.
"I can't…" James face fell into disbelief.
"What?"
"I can't get us out of here. I don't know how." She curled in on herself again. James frowned. He couldn't accept that. He wouldn't. He didn't like this place. He didn't like the whispering and the feeling of eyes on him. He wanted out of this creepy place.
"You got us here, didn't you?" James asked. The woman didn't answer but he knew it was true. "This is because of your quirk. If you have the power to bring us to this place, why can't you send us back?"
"Because I don't know how!" The girl cried out. "I'm not that experienced with my quirk. I only know how to put someone to sleep. Other Nara's are able to take control and break out on their own. You should be able to as well." James thought about her answer before he looked around the room. It was just a plain white room. Nothing special about it. James formed a Chaos Sphere in his right hand. "What- what are you doing?"
"You said I should be able to break out right?" James glanced at her. "Well, I'm breaking out right now." He ran at the wall and shoved the Chaos Sphere through the walls. The wall turned gray, but it didn't crumble. Instead, it started to slowly repair itself. James honestly didn't think it would be that easy, but he wasn't going to give up that easily. He formed two more Chaos Sphere's in his hands and shoved them both at the walls.
"That's not going to work!" The woman cried out.
"Then tell me how to get out of here!" James yelled as he kept making Spheres and destroying the room.
"I don't know how!" James didn't accept that answer. He kept destroying the room despite the room healing over his destruction. He started hearing screams in the back of his mind, like someone begging him, pleading with him. He ignored them, not looking away from the room he was trying to destroy. He had a feeling if he destroyed the room he'd be able to get out. After all, why would the woman be here if this wasn't some kind of boss level? That was the theory, and gaming logic hadn't ever steered him wrong before. At least when it came to something like this.
He hit an area of the wall with what felt like a pop. James pulled back to see his hand covered in a black inky substance. The wall he was destroying had turned pure black and was gushing black at him. James flinched backwards, away from the tar-like substance. A bright light came from behind him and shot the hole. James turned to see Shina standing at the door's entrance. She held a ball of bright light in her hand like it was a baseball.
"Need help?" she asked, smiling slightly. James nodded and he went back to destroying the room. Shina's light kept the black tar substance away from him. Once her light touched it, it turned silver and started bubbling. The woman yelled out but neither James nor Shina paid her any mind as they continued to destroy the room.
The world outside the windows started to crack and shatter before finally, with one last Chaos Sphere, the room broke apart into chunks. James and Shina stood on either side of the woman as she stared at them in horror.
"I asked nicely before this happened!" James yelled in a reminder as the world around them swirled into a mess of colors until all he saw was a bright light that he thought was coming from Shina. Instead, that light was the lights of the chandelier of the Ugly House.
James sat up, feeling his body and his leg with the aching wound in it. A body landed on him making him grunt in annoyance.
"Get off me." Yuto's ears poked his cheek as he hugged him.
"I'm so glad you're awake." Yuto pulled back suddenly. "That is the only time I will ever say that." James looked around the room, seeing Kira and Kai talking in Russian. Kana was hugging Kira who hugged back. 'Idiot braincells couldn't live without each other.' James thought as he looked to where Shina was getting up off…Dabi? James saw Shigaraki was sulking in the corner where Toga, Twice and the rest of the League, sans Dabi, was stretching. In the center of the room was the woman and her two male companions. The woman was staring at him in disbelief.
"Hey dude, we gotta go." Yuto states as he helped James to his feet. James looked at Yuto.
"What do you mean? Where are we going?"
"Class starts in 30 minutes." Yuto states. James felt like falling to the floor.
GM NASAI: I...have no excuse.
