DING-DONG! "I got it!" Dewey started dashing down the stairs in his usual blue T-shirt to find his dear Uncle Scrooge at the door holding a box with holes in his hands. "What's that?" Dewey curiously asked.
Scrooge answered delightfully. "It's a little something that caught my eye at the pet store." Deweys' eyes immediately lit up and he started guessing. "Is it a lion? A Python? A Gremlin? A Minotaur? A DrAgOn!?" That caught Scrooge off guard. "Wha-No! I got you a cat!" Scrooge opened the mysterious box to reveal a cute blue and light gray fuzzy cat with yellow eyes and white paws. Deweys' expression turned serious. "OK." There was a second of silence. Then Dewey quickly blurted, "Where are you hiding the dragon's old man!?"
Scrooge was shocked. Dewey furiously continues, "Why couldn't you get me something a little more exotic? A dog would have been better than this! Give the cat to huey!"
Scrooges' shock turned into 'of-course'. "Huey's occupied with Jerry the mouse. I thought you would like something to take care of for once." Scrooge turned around to start towards the pet store. "But I guess I was wrong." Before Scrooge left, Dewey mumbled, "Fine, I'll keep the cat."
Scrooge turns around to face Dewey, then unexpectedly says, "No." Dewey jumped to his knees and started begging to Scrooge. "Please let me keep him Uncle Scrooge! I promise I'll feed him three times a day and take very, very good care of him! Please!"
Scrooge's face turned into a smile. "What will you name him?"
It took Dewey a little while to process what he just did. He stood back up in shock and he silently decided in silence what he wanted to name the cat. "Thomas. Tom for short."
Scrooge handed the box to Dewey and headed off to one of his board meetings. He told Dewey to ask Mrs. Beakley for help with Tom if he needed it. "OK little buddy, let's get you to–OH jeez! Where'd you go?!" Dewey looked into the empty box he was holding, noticing Tom wasn't in it. He turned around to see Tom climbing up the stairs and into the Duck brothers room, where Huey was taking care of Jerry the mouse.
