USER005: Another slow learning day with Alma. Thankfully.
Things... have been changing lately.
We used to study a lot about medicine and sciences, but now Colonel Harding sits-in often. When she comes, she brings guns with her. Then, she has us clean and reassemble them. She gets angry if we get things wrong or if we're not as quick as she expects us to be, which is almost always.
Nor has everyone's timing beat, even when Ri'nela tries her hardest. It's a little funny because Ri'nela passes all Alma's tests with flying colors but when it comes to hands-on exercises, she... struggles? It isn't something you'd expect. Especially, because Ri'nela doesn't show it, but I can tell it really bothers her. Sometimes Alma even jokes that tech is Ri'nela's "Achilles heel" (which means a 'weak point', apparently). Everybody knows it's an over-exaggeration though, and that Alma is just teasing her. Alma teases Teylan less since he can assemble a superior-working radio from basically scraps on-the-go. Nor, though, she doesn't tease at all. Especially, when Nor doesn't seem to miss targets even Colonel Harding's people do. Can you believe that?
Nor practices a lot past his bedtime though. Background noise used to bother Ri'nela and Teylan, but we're all used to it now. Now that I think about it, it would be strange to go to bed without it. It used to be on occasion, but it's become a daily thing since... well, I guess I think this is important to Nor. It's almost like he's keeping watch over us. Keeping us safe while we rest. Even if what he's practicing with is just a piece of plastic (as if they'd let us keep real guns here). Still, Nor prefers it over sleeping. I think he might be a dream-walker too; one like me.
Watching Nor from my pillow, as he stubbornly races against the timer, I imagine him as our Sarentu Olo'eyktan. I can't help but think he has all the makings of a leader. Nor is strong, fierce, and unafraid. I admire him a lot.
Sometimes, I wish I was like Nor, even if just a little bit. I wish I was more than just "the other one", who's slow and without "fire" and "discipline", like Mercer says.
But then I remember that Nor and Teylan fight a lot. I remember that Nor's words can cut deeper than a knife. So deep that they make Teylan cry. Mercer makes Teylan cry a lot too. I never want to make Teylan cry.
