Hey all, this is Sho, the author of Spirited Posterity,

I know this isn't what you were all waiting for, I know you've been waiting patiently, but this needs to be said. For the time being, Spirited Posterity is on hiatus, and I have no idea when I'll be back. The story is NOT CANCELLED, but I need time away from it, and maybe I just need time away from MHA altogether. As I look at the date, it's been a month and a half since chapter 11, and every time I go to write 12, I freeze up. Truthfully, I don't know how you all will react. It goes without saying that the MHA fandom as a whole is very unforgiving, nitpicky, and overall very toxic. I'm not saying that about any of you of course, but it's something that has weighed on me for quite some time now. Spirited is something I have always wanted to tell, and you may have noticed in my other fics how mythology either plays a central theme, or is referenced in some capacity.

I truly thought bringing Shinto mythology into MHA would be something fascinating, get my hands wet in both Shinto and the Vigilante Izuku genre. This is my first time writing Vigilante Izuku and IzuJiro, and I've been having a blast. But also adding in all the Shinto elements, putting my own spin on the gods, the spirits, the myths, telling my own story while paying homage to real history much like the writers at Santa Monica Studios have with God of War. And it makes me incredibly happy knowing that so many of you share this interest in this world, this mythology. I knew the risks of straying so far from canon, or odd character pairings. Who here ever thought I'd have Jiro be friends with Shigaraki right? Or have so many of the Shinto gods like Inari, Susanoo, Benzaiten, Tenjin, Tsukuyomi, and all the others come in? I didn't know how you'd react to them, but to my surprise the reaction has been extremely positive. I assure you that I will be back in the future to continue Izuku's journey in the Spirit World, but for now, I need time away from this.

For a long time I've wanted to move onto other universes, other series from MHA. Look at The Stranded Crow, my MHA crossover with Death Stranding. I've given serious thought to reviving that fic, and I just might. Maybe that will get my spark going again. However, I've also wanted to write stories in fandoms such as Halo, Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunners , Soul Eater, Durarara, Mass Effect, and many more. I think a change in series will truly help me get over this rut I'm in, a new perspective might give me the fresh air I need. I know not everyone will be interested in those series, but it's what I think is best for me right now.

However, Spirited WILL come back. In fact, I just created my own Discord server if any of you want to come say hi, or maybe share your own ideas. Or maybe you just want to play games like the Dark Souls series, Lethal Company, Street Fighter, or other games. My server is called The Fox Den and feel free to click the hyperlink right there to join.

I have plans for Spirited, I am hoping to wrap up Izuku's training in the next few chapters. In chapter 12, he and Jiro are about to fight a Yuki Onna, a dangerous Yokai that freeze their victims to death and steal their souls, but with the help of Hawks and... Dabi? That's right, Toya is a Hero in this universe. However when they help Izuku accidentally taps into Toya's Niwa, and sees things he was unprepared for. Old wounds, buried emotions and memories, and all of it may just be Izuku's final test... After that, once Izuku becomes a fully fledged Kaiho-sya and forms his "Mask", I wanted to show his journey, but also Jiro's, Shimura's, Inari's, and all the other gods and how they are all connected. I have these big plans that one day I hope to share for all of you to enjoy. Yet the painful truth is that I just need a break.

So thank you to everyone for staying with me all the way. I'll say it once more, Spirited will return, just not right now. Please feel free to join my Discord or leave your thoughts in the comments. And if you want to see what else I have to offer to AO3, check out my profile altogether.
