An Ending in a Forest

"Welcome, Virtuous Soul, to the Isles of the Blest. Someone has been waiting for you."

The soul tried to adjust to the scene around it. Since they had first set foot on the island, memories started coming back, their past lives coming into sharper detail. They remembered their time as Helena Williams, maybe someone from that life? Her mother? Her father? The soul's appearance began to shift, taking on more features resembling their first life as they thought more about it.

They scanned the area in front of them, and saw other spirits flitting around in complete contentment. Whatever they wanted was there, there was no way to grow despondent in this place. But none of the spirits was someone they recognized.

In front of them, a path seemed to feel right. As though the island wanted to show them what would make them the most happy. They started down, half-floating, half-walking.

It was possible they were looking for someone in their last life. He had missed his mother dearly, surely she would be here? Well, that would mean that she had already lived three virtuous lives, she may simply be in Elysium. He would have to visit her, no matter what. Again, the features shifted, becoming a bit more like Louis Kegley.

Who could be waiting for them? Who did they know who was in the Isles-

The soul broke into a run, the features tuning themselves into a different version. She ran as fast as she could until the forest path opened up into a clearing with a lake and a small cottage beside it. Working in the garden, her back to her was-

"Elizabeth!"

The woman turned to see the soul trying to get to her as fast as possible, dropping everything in her hands and running towards her.

"Zelda!"

The women met again in death, their souls knowing the love of their lives. As they embraced, Zelda's appearance changed slightly, looking more like the woman she had hoped to grow into, the kind of woman that Elizabeth appeared as.

"I have missed you so so much, my love." Elizabeth whispered.

"I hope I've not kept you waiting." Zelda murmured back.

They separated, looking into each other's eyes in jubilation, unbelieving that they had made it.

"Come, my love. This is the life I promised you."
