OceanPaw let out a snort of contempt as the moss ball she was carrying in her jaws fell apart, landing on the sandy floor. She lent down, scraping the moss back into a ball, picking it back up.

She bounded across camp, staying in the slim shadow of the cliff to protect her from the blistering heat as she bounded across the sandy surface of the rock. Sticking her head into a hollow in cliff - face, she called out

"TwistFoot! LemonFur! I have some of that special moss you wanted!"

A dark brown tom looked up from his nest, his face wrinkling in annoyance, he let out a groan

"We didn't want the moss! we wanted you to soak it in water so we can drink," he huffed before shoving his head back down onto his nest.

OceanPaw let out a groan before picking up the ball of moss and trotting to the other side of camp, lowering it into the water.

"OceanPaw!" a voice came from beside her, making her jump. It's just PouncePaw, phew, she thought as she saw her brother's familiar sandy pelt. He gave her a wild smile as he bounded up to her, his stumpy tail waving happily.

"Oh, StarClan, PouncePaw, you scared me!" grumbeled OceanPaw, turning around to face him

"Oh sorry," he mewed, not sounding like he meant it, "But, I'm just so fed up!" he groaned, glancing around to check no warriors were listening, but every cat was in their nest. It's just too warm to be outside, though OceanPaw, annoyed that they were the only cats working.

"Listen," PouncePaw lowered his voice as he spoke, "I'm going to go to see the old clans!"

"What!" exclamied OceanPaw, eyes opening wide

"Every cat talks badly about them but..." he hesitated, "They only left a few seasons ago, we were the first cats born here!" OceanPaw nodded, even though she was reluctant, he was kind of right... They were the oldest apprentices in the clans, of course there were others though.

She tried to push down the foreboding that rose in her stomach, the clans at the lake are evil, why else would they have thrown their own clan mates into the cold! The clans had to journey a long time to find their new home, PouncePaw and OceanPaw's mother, SongFrost, had travelled all that way as an expecting queen. Eve though the old ThunderClan leader had made her leave her mate behind.

"Okay..." The light brown specked she-cat muttered, her deep blue eyes shining with uncertainty.

"Your coming?" he exclaimed happily, without waiting for an answer he continued, "So, this is what we do..."

The gathering place was full of happy cats, all meeting their friends from other clans, where's PouncePaw? questioned OceanPaw to herself as her eyed grazed the head of cats to find him. She saw her brothers sandy coloured head sticking out from a bush which bordered the clearing. They both saw each other at the same time, and OceanPaw bounded over.

She pushed through the bushes, smiling a the way these bushes had soft green leaves, they don't prick your pelt like the brambles PouncePaw keeps on pushing me into!

When she pushed herself into the smaller clearing on the other side of the bush, she was surprised to see a group of cats sitting, chatting loudly and happily. So this is who we are going on the journey with?

"Ah, OceanPaw, finally!" a she-cat stood up - DewPaw, a TansyClan apprentice who had long silver tabby fur which rippled airily in the moonlight , "Can you tell us what's going on - PouncePaw is erratic!" Though sarcastic, her voice was warm with happiness and amusement that glowed in her amber eyes. PouncePaw gave her a mock shocked look before continuing to speak to the dark brown dappled tom next to him, TalonPaw of ReedClan.

"Yes! What is gong on!" chimed in OakPaw, a dark ginger tabby with piercing blue eyes, OceanPaw sighed

"We are going to the lake territory," She paused as the three cats let out involuntary gasps, "It's not my idea sadly so you'll have to listen to PouncePaw,"

"We are are just going to leave in the middle of the night?" asked DewPaw, dumbfounded

"Yes bu-" PouncePaw was cut of ass the bushes rustled revealing another cat. PoolPaw, the light brown tabby revealed herself, much to the surprise of the cats,

"I'm coming!" she announced, determination glittering in her gaze. TalonPaw stood up, his pelt bristling with annoyance,

"No you will not!" he exclaimed, taking a pace between each word for emphasis

"You will need a medicine cat!" she retorted, her gaze calming suddenly as she glanced around the gathered cats, she then settled down next to where her brother was standing, watching with amusement glittering in her eyes as he remained standing up, his fur pricking angrily.

"So is everyone comind?" asked OceanPaw

Every cat murmured their "yes"s

"Meet here, tomorrow at sunset,"
