The hotel Rebecca had mentioned, was too far to walk with darkness beckoning and the chill in the air, so the Kid took a hansom. As he rode in relative comfort and at a decent speed, he had to reluctantly acknowledge that Heyes accepting part payment from Mr Barton before they left Denver, had been sensible, as they'd quickly discovered how expensive New York was. He hoped Rebecca was taking things seriously and sighed to himself, thinking perhaps he should have insisted that Rebecca not go unaccompanied to the hotel. He would suggest in the strongest terms that she hire someone she trusted to accompany her whenever she was out and about. Rosemary Barton's death was clear evidence of how little class position mattered if one became inconvenient enough. He knew Rebecca would resist him, but he would attempt to insist on it. He smiled a little, well aware of just how little success most people, including both him and Heyes had when insisting on anything, where Rebecca was concerned. But he did perhaps have one or two extra techniques others didn't. He could see clearly see Heyes' unconvinced expression, at his justification for what all three of them knew would occur, when he met Rebecca in private. But the Kid was determined to talk about what was necessary, before allowing himself to be distracted.

Coleman House was a huge building that dominated the corner of the street it stood on. Five stories high and obviously built to impress. The Kid entered the lobby surprised to find it decorated in a warm comfortable style, rather than the flashy bright style he'd expected. His appearance raised little attention, unlike in the less wordly Denver. He looked round and he spotted Rebecca, seated at one of the comfortable looking two seated couches set against the wood paneled walls, with a table in front of her, dressed with the flawless elegance he remembered. She beckoned him over with a broad smile and patted the space next to her. He looked round, then walked over to join her, but rather then sitting next to her, he drew one of the chairs from the next table over and sat on it. She raised her eyebrows at him, then smiled, her eyes flashing in a way that did little for the Kid's attempt at keeping his mind on what he needed to do. "Is that an indication of lack of interest, Jed? I had thought..." She ran a hand delicately up his leg, leaving it resting higher than was exactly polite and he swallowed hard. "Rebecca..."
At the slightly strangled tone to his voice, her smile softened and took on an edge of mischief as she said. "Not a lack of interest then."
Clearing his throat, and in an attempt not to allow her to derail him from his plan before he was ready. Jed said as evenly as he could. "Never that Ma'am..."
Her smile widened at the Ma'am, and she sighed, before with a final pat on his leg, removed her straying hand, and demurely placed it with her other on her lap. "Very well, Jed, business first."
Jed let out a breath, and said firmly. "Are you sure its safe to be out and about on your own?"
Rebecca laughed quietly. "I am not one of those helpless women who are quite incapable of looking after themselves without assistance. I took a winding route to get here, and I most certainly made sure I was not followed. I am well versed in covering my movements." She winked at him as she said. "As I know you are well aware."
Her hand slipped back to his leg and rested even higher, before moving in a stroking motion, and he shifted uncomfortably as his pants tightened in response. "You were not my first out of marriage sexual experience, but you have been my last, and I am eager to revisit our activities."
Damn it, thought Kid a little annoyed at her, Heyes had called her intentions perfectly. Catching the flash of irritation in his face, she removed her hand again, and he was left both relieved and disappointed at the loss. "I promise Jed, once my immediate needs are satisfied, we will talk more, but right now I'm afraid you are proving far too much of a distraction."
A little amused at the reversal of their previous encounters, when Rebecca had always remained the more clear headed, the Kid snorted softly and she gave him a mildly embarrassed smile as she said. "As I said, you were my last extra marital adventure."
Kid lost the urge to delay surrendering to his own need, so gave in with a broad grin of his own, and allowed her to lead him to the stairs as she said. "My suite is this way."
They were unobserved, as they walked up to the third floor and made rapid progress down the plush carpeted corridor, Rebecca opened the door at the end of the corridor labeled 322, and the Kid followed her in, the drapes on the window were a rich burgundy and drawn against the chill, the room was decorated in warm tones, in a similar cozy style to the lobby. Rebecca noted his slightly puzzled expression as he took in the décor, he was somewhat surprised at how comfortable the room felt. "These are rented for the long term, so they're furnished more for living than anything else."
With that she ran her hand down his chest, before moving away to lock the door and light the lamps, which gave the room a welcoming glow, then she turned back to face him, throwing a smile in his direction that sent heat right through his body as she said. "Now, Jed, I think its time we made a few more memories..."
She slowly advanced on him, pausing for a moment, as she said softly "Is this what you want?" With his mouth suddenly dry from need, all he could do was nod enthusiastically to indicate this was exactly what he wanted. With another smile full of promise, she began to walk back towards him, and on reaching him briefly squeezed his shoulders, then began sliding his jacket off, tossing it gently onto the nearby chair, before beginning to slowly unbutton his shirt, quickly though, Jed's urging and her own arousal sped her movements up and as the clock on the wall by the window struck the half hour, they were naked and she was pushing him gently towards the bed where they landed with a soft thud.
