A/N: Hello! It has been a long time since I last logged onto this website. Life happened coupled with a case of writer's block and now here we are with the next chapter of this Monster High Generation 1 rewritten fic. I will also post the next couple of chapters up right after this one. I know that Generation 3 of Monster High has surfaced but sill think Generation 1 of Monster High is a bit better.
And of course Monster High was created by Garrett Sander and owned by Mattel.
Ch. 15: Meddling Music
January 2014: Week 2
Cleo's POV
Monday: Hissteria
Morning
Oh my rah. Monday again. This time it was worse than any other Monday. Only Deuce can help cope with my study migraines I have gotten this past weekend. I saw him standing by his locker, bouncing a pink rubber ball. Well, stress balls do exist for such occasions. AsI tapped the back of his shoulder, he closed his locker with a panicked look on his handsome face.
"Hey, I've been looking for you." I said to him smiling as I held a hand out.
"Ah! Haha. Sup, babe."
"I need to borrow your AP Biteology book to study for finals. Ghoulia borrowed mine for a bit while she's helping me organize my notes. Can you just-"
"Uh, sorry. I don't have it."
That seemed unlike Deuce. Normally he always had his books on hand close to the end of a scaremester.
"Can you just check?" I sweetly asked him.
"Yeah, but I'm just late for that thing, that I'm late for. Peace!"
Deuce sped down the halls like he was in a hurry. Perhaps he really had gotten all wrapped up with studying for finals.
"Hey, what's gotten into Deuce?"
I turned around and saw Draculaura, Lagoona, and Clawdeen arrive. I asked them if they noticed his behavior lately since we came back to school following the winter break.
"Have any of you noticed him acting strange lately?"
"Deuce? Yes, actually it's probably nothing since scaremester finals are next week."
But then Draculaura held her right hand to her chin and looked off to the side. I know that look she gave.
"But earlier last Thursday, I saw Deuce coming out of the catacombs. I waved hello to him but he must not have heard me as he was in a rush. Then I saw Operetta checking her face in a small mirror."
I felt my blood boil as soon as she mentioned Operetta, Melody's former BFF.
"Oh hey ghouls."
Granted, I ignored Frankie as I felt my temper rise. I began walking and the ghouls followed me.
"Ugh, so Deuce was in the catacombs below the school with Operetta!?"
I shouted, not even batted an eyelash if anyone else around heard me in the hallway.
"God, I can't believe that Ovaretta would stoop as low as that. First, she steals MY voice, and now boyfriends?"
Melody's expression matched mine. Glad my half siren ghoul friend was sharing my analysis that Deuce was messing around with that musical harlot.
"Um, pardon me Melody. But it sounds like you know this Operetta."
Someone please fill in the new ghoul more of the deets. I swear Frankie's naivety act was getting stale at this point.
"Oh yeah, we used to be friends. Till she stole my musical talent." Melody huffed.
"Anyway, Cleo. You need some kind of proof if he is cheating." Clawdeen pointed out.
Oh my rah! I got it! I stopped and turned around holding out my left hand.
"Of course. His locker! He stopped me from looking in there when I asked him if I could borrow his Biteology book. But he can't stop Spectra."
Of course the nosy blogger appeared beside us.
"You called me, Cleo?"
As a matter of fact I did. I nodded.
"Yes. Meet me back here at lunchtime and don't be late. Got it?"
"Yes…"
Lunchtime…
"Ok blogger, what do you see?"
Spectra stuck her head inside Deuce's locker then peered out.
"Hmmm, it appears to be some type of bouquet. Addressed to 'my pet.'"
All my girls gasped except Frankie who had a confused look on her face.
"My pet? Is that some sort of a nickname?"
Oh my rah! Of course it is a nickname!
"Arrgh. That does it!"
I quickly walked off holding both of my bandaged hands ready to wrap that harlot into two perfectly preserved parts.
"Cleo, where are you going?"
I heard Frankie ask me worried about my well being. I turned around giving her a glare.
"To give Operetta a piece of my mind."
"I'm coming with you, Cleo."
As Melody accompanied me, I angrily walked toward the creepateria.
Creepateria…
Melody opened the creepateria doors for me so that I could make my grand entrance toward my target. My siren best friend pointed out where Operetta was.
"There's that whore."
I nodded toward Melody before I turned around and walked over to her. Time to expose this whore.
"Operetta. I want everyone to know about this!"
From my right hand, I pointed an accusatory finger directly to her face.
"Operetta is trying to steal my man."
As the harlot puts her tray off to her side, I expected some fight to occur. But I forgot that Melody accompanied me to make sure my emotions were under wraps.
"Oh, hi Meloduh. See you brought over the Queen of the Nile given that you're her follower."
Hmph. Least she was not a man stealer.
"Watch it Ovaretta. I know where your private music practice space is, given we used to jam together. Well, till you took that away from me too."
She turned back to me, initially ignoring me. I do not like to be ignored.
"Um can I help you?"
"Stay away from Deuce." I said to her with venom that seethed out of my voice.
"Y'all are pickin' on the wrong fiddle."
She put her right hand on her hip acting like she did not know anything or what I said to her.
"Whoever Deuce is, if he's going out with you, then I might doubt I'd be interested."
Her left hand touched her purple collar keyboard top. I will give her that, I could see where Melody had improved her sense of style when she was not wearing those casual low brand clothes of hers.
"You think you can steal him because you're both rebels and into the same, dumb music."
Okay, perhaps I went a bit too far in referring to Deuce's music as stupid. It was just not so much my taste that's all.
"Maybe you and Meloduh here should both look in the mirror."
Melody I saw was getting angry too and crossed her arms.
"And what the hell's that supposed to mean, Ovaretta?"
"Y'all got a spider on yer face."
As I saw her pet spider attached to her mirror, Melody stepped in and took her mirror before gently putting it on a food tray before she did what was the more hostile approach that I could have done.
Melody slapped her.
I saw the mark on Operetta's cheek before she pushed Melody onto a tall ogre who spilt food on her before the harlot yelled then stormed out of the creepateria with her spider.
"Well, MY music can whoop y'all's music!"
"Bring it on, bitch! Oooh, lemme at her!"
Not bring if my bandages had gotten food on them, I grabbed the bottom of Melody's black shirt and sat her on the floor with me.
"It's alright. This is my problem. Not yours." I said to her as tears fell from my face.
At the washrooms…
"I have never been so humiliated!" I sobbed as I wiped my tears with a tissue.
"Speak for yourself, least you didn't get pushed into a student holding food on you."
She took off her black collar shirt and threw it in the garbage bin. Better off there than on her that was for sure.
"Seems likes really had no idea who Deuce was. What if this is a misunderstanding?" Frankie said.
"We need to track her." Clawdeen exclaimed.
I turned back to face the mirror and smiled at Clawdeen's suggestion. Who knew my former Talon Show rival turned out to be one of my best ghoulfriends?
"And catch them together!"
I turned back to face Melody who was just in her blue skinny jeans and purple tank top.
"Melody, you gonna be okay walking down to the catacombs with a tank top?"
"Well not like I have a choice."
She smiled, happy to put an end to my stress and her rivalry.
At the catacombs…
Clawdeen opened the door for us. We walked down the steps toward the catacombs again.
"Well, back down here again…this time not for a party."
I heard Lagoona talking to the new girl, given that she has never been beneath this school's catacombs. Of course she'd be clueless.
"Ah, seems you've gotten accustomed to the school's catacombs. Monster High was built on top of it."
"Shhh, quiet."
I said as we all peeked from the side to see my Deuce looking at a dragon statue.
"Deuce?" I called out to him, well soon he may not be my Deuce anymore.
"Ahh, Cleo! What are you doing down here?"
As he turned around to face me, I walked over and put both my wrapped hands on my hips before angrily pointing my left finger at him, ready to confront him.
"Surprised? We tracked you and your new girlfriend, Operetta down here. Your pet?"
"M-my what? No nononono. It's not what you think."
Over my undead body. Wait, what?
"It's kind of embarrassing but this is-was my pet, Smokey. He was the first thing I ever loved, and the first thing I ruined. I am here commemorating his death."
Deuce pets and plays with Smokey that gotten petrified. I never knew this…
"I was just a boy. I couldn't control my powers. Smokey was just trying to play. It was supposed to wear off on the anniversary, but I just don't know which one or even what day."
I see him throw the rubber ball up before it rolled back down on the cold floor. My rah, I feel like such a fool.
Lagoona, Frankie, Melody, Draculaura, Clawdeen, and Ghoulia peer out behind us listening in. The new ghoul in our group, Frankie, began to tear up, Draculaura and Clawdeen cried, while Melody and Lagoona looked sad. I was fighting back tears myself as my mummified heart was touched.
"And…the bouquet?" I had to ask him about the flowers.
"Snapdragons, his favourite treat."
Deuce turned around facing me before he took a few steps closer toward me.
"I'm sorry if I was acting weird."
I smiled before I went to go hug my Deuce. "I accept your apology."
Our touching moment was interrupted by Frankie clasping her hands.
"I was right. Maybe you should apologize to Operetta too."
Then Melody, my second best ghoul friend came to my aid, though she overreacted just a tad. I commend her for sharing my hatred with Operwhore.
"What!?"
I turned toward my ghoul friends. "I'd sooner set my hair on fire. Besides, I still don't trust that ghoul."
"I'm with Cleo. That backstabbing hoe sure has a way of stealing talent when she hears it."
Let's just say that Melody and Operetta share some…musical history with one another.
No POV
Operetta was secretly listening in on the conversation. She was more angry at Melody's comment than Cleo's, given she knew how stuck up and judgemental the Egyptian Princess can be.
"Ooooooh…"
The violet skinned ghoul walked to go deeper into the catacombs, rowed her boat then headed toward her personal music space playing her organ that she used to share with Melody. Operetta's pet spider jumped down on her shoulder, comforting her.
"That Cleo sure like to hurt my feelings. And Meloduh sure enjoys sucking up to the queen herself. Now I'm one catty rumpus."
Operetta puts her right palm up to her chin, thinking up a devilish plan to get back at the Queen Bee of Monster High.
"I figure that Cleo must pay so I'm gonna take her man, just cuz I can."
She chuckled, her pet spider however was not in agreement with how she was going to go about this.
After school…
Frankie walked down the steps of the school entrance heading back to her apartment a bit early today in order to finish organizing her notes for her upcoming scaremester finals. Holt sat on the steps playing his acoustic guitar and noticed her.
"Yo, Frankieeeeeee, yeah!"
The green skinned ghoul, tired after a busy school day, looked down at the hyper focused Holt Hyde while she still held her books knowing his other half was hesitant on having conversations with her.
"Sigh, what is it Holt? I am heading home to study for scaremester finals coming up."
"Come on now. Don't be like that."
He patted the step, encouraging her to sit down and take a break.
"Sit down."
Frankie did as he asked, and sat down setting her books beside her.
"Listen, I not only wanted to say thanks for having me and my other half come to terms with one another. Plus I think we got off on the wrong foot. Sorry that I came on a little strong that night at the movies."
While she appreciated Holt thanking her, Frankie raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"A little? That's sure an understatement if I heard one."
She replied with a small hint of sarcasm, which was normally unlike her. She definitely picked up this attitude from someone in her social circle like Cleo.
"Look, I still don't know what comes over me yet. Sometimes me and Jackson don't get along yet we share the same thoughts. Hell, that explains why he gets me straight A's all the time. I guess that's what that therapist Jackson goes to tells him every now and then. You must think I'm pretty stupid after that party huh?"
Frankie let out a stifled giggle.
"No, not at all. I totally understand. I think when it comes to our thoughts and feelings, we all feel like that sometimes. Heck, when I first transferred here to Monster High, I wasn't sure if I would even fit in."
Frankie accidentally sparked electricity from her hands upon resting it on Holt's guitar, turning it into an electrical one, which further elevated the blue skinned monster's musical aura.
"Whoa, now I always wanted an electric guitar like Heath has. I can see now why he likes you."
As Holt resumed playing the guitar, Frankie smiled with a light pink blush on her cheeks at the thought of Heath being attracted to her while playing guitar, denying her growing attraction surrounding the fire elemental.
'Heath liking me? Pfft, yeah right. He's a jock and I'm not exactly within his league. I think Holt's ears are just stitched on backwards.'
She snapped out of her thoughts before she faced Holt, exclaiming "Wait, are you kidding Holt!?"
Holt, however, was too focused on his new so called 'electric' guitar with his headphones on, not having heard Frankie's response back to his comment.
Tuesday
In the halls…
The next day at Monster High, Operetta proceeded to put her plan into action. She was not even romantically interested in Deuce, as the Gorgon was not really her type and it was obvious to the majority of the senior class that Deuce and Cleo were exclusive.
"Here he comes." She muttered upon noticing Deuce looking down with both hands in his pockets and headphones on.
The southern belle proceeded to intentionally bump into the Gorgon, which caused her book to scatter on the floor.
"Oooh! Ah, man I'm so sorry."
Deuce said, not realizing that he was not looking where he was going through his shades before bending down to pick up Operetta's book.
"That ain't nothin." Operetta sweetly replied as she bent down to be almost eye level with him.
"I nearly ran you over." She puts her lavender purple hand on top of Deuce's, "I can be such a hayseed."
Deuce, not paying attention to the physical contact placed on his hand as his mind was focused on a certain Egyptian ghoul, handed Operetta back her book.
"Here you go."
The southern belle reached for Deuce's headphones upon standing back up.
"Thanks. What are you listenin' to? Graveyard Smash!?"
"You've heard of them?"
Deuce replied, expressing interest that there was someone else, specifically a female ghoul that listened to a rock band like Graveyard Smash.
Operetta giggled as she put a left hand on her cheek "Why they rock my lil' old face off!"
After all, she was not just interested in classical pieces, she liked listening to a little rock n' roll once in a while.
Scene switch…
Frankie walked the halls holding her textbooks, Holt jumped out at her from lounging by the stairs and pointed his right blue finger at her, which caused the skunk stripe haired ghoul to nearly drop her books she was carrying.
"Yo Frankieeeee, yeah!"
While the sudden greeting startled her a bit, she was used to it given that another manster she knew acted like that sometimes, well perhaps almost as much as Holt.
"Heh, yo Holt."
"Hey, listen Franken-fine. I was thinkin' of helping ya." The fiery haired manster suggested.
Frankie blinked for a few seconds, curiosity getting the werecat out of her.
"Y-you were? On what exactly?"
"I was thinkin' that since I like you, ya know. But given that I respect my cousin like a brother, maybe we can hang out as friends. I managed to get Jackson to understand and not be so nervous around ya."
Holt proudly said. Frankie acknowledged that Holt was more of an extrovert compared to Jackson, who sometimes had difficulty maintaining eye contact in conversations due to being socially awkward.
"Yeah, sure. That'd be nice, actually. Hopefully Jackson will talk to me n-"
"Yeeeeeaaaahhh!"
As Holt does his signature fist bump when he gets overly excited, Frankie quickly put her books on the floor to have a free palm and cover his loud mouth, suspecting that there was something he knew given that he shares a brain with Jackson split in half.
"W-wait!" As Frankie exclaimed, she removed her left palm off his face before taking his right arm and pulled him by the stairs before continuing, "Is this about me and Heath?"
As if the question was not obvious, Holt may have a shorter attention span compared to Jackson but he was not stupid given how the topics lately from Heath to him have gravitated around her.
"Oh come on. I can tell by the look on your pretty face that you like him." Holt grinned, knowing that she was easy to tease as his cousin described.
Frankie felt her cheeks go a light pink before turning darker in hue. She could no longer deny it as Holt brought it up again. She was feeling something toward Holt's cousin but she was not fully sure if it was a crush or just a schoolgirl attraction that will pass…eventually.
"What makes you say that? I thought you were kidding yesterday when you said that."
She wanted to believe he was joking. She really did.
"He told me about how much fun he had when he went to Australia over the holidays. Half the time he brought you up."
Could have been about how much of a social freak she was according to 'his' words.
"W-well maybe Heath's just being Heath. You know how he is with girls. Besides, he has a girlfriend." She replied.
He has a girlfriend. And she accepted that. Her and Heath are just classmates, nothing more.
"Except he talks more about you than Abbey or any other girl he's dated. Anyway, not gonna say no more since you know, bro code. Heh, you didn't hear this from me."
Holt winked at her before walking off raising his arm in the air and gave her a wave.
Frankie smiled while the blush remained on her pretty mint face.
'Heath talks about me? As in how he would see me as a…girl?'
Before her thoughts got carried away, she quickly picked up her books and headed off to the school library to study.
By the catacombs…
Deuce and Operetta continued their conversation over the types of music they listen to. Operetta took Deuce's right hand to sit down on a bench beside them.
"It's pretty crazy how much we have in common." She stated.
"I know right?" Deuce chuckled, happy to have found a female schoolmate to discuss music so that he could show Cleo how much she means to him.
Little did the pair know, someone was secretly listening in.
Melody was about to walk down the stairs by the catacombs and saw Operetta and Deuce talking. She quickly hid behind the corner.
"Heehee. Are you doin anything later?"
The Gorgon's back felt stiff at the flirty tone coming from Operetta. Now he caught onto why she wanted to spend time with him.
"Oh, oh! Hey, well you seem like a totally great ghoul."
Deuce held his right hand up to stop her from getting too close for comfort before stating, "But I'm with Cleo."
Operetta, insistent on sticking to her initial plan, held her right hand out to hold his.
"Heh, that can't be serious right?" She asked with a sickly sweet voice.
Deuce now feeling uncomfortable, gets back up worried that Cleo would misunderstand something.
"Um, yeah. I think so."
The southern belle shook her head. "But you guys are nothin' alike. To-tal opposites."
Melody, having heard enough, got annoyed before she walked off to text Cleo what she recorded on her iCoffin.
Deuce smiled and shrugged having acknowledged that despite being opposites, they both bring out the good in each other throughout their freaky flaws.
"I know. She just…brings out the best in me you know?"
Operetta's expression turned content, and saw how much the handsome Gorgon cared about his girlfriend. Perhaps there was another side to Cleo that Operetta did not see given the 'Queen Bee' persona Cleo put forth.
"Make me wanna be a better Deuce."
The music ghoul sighed while she put her right finger toward her chin upon her pet spider crawling out from her purse to tell Operetta to not further intervene and further cause malicious intent.
"So you really like her, huh?"
"Totally. So much." Replied Deuce.
"You tell her how you feel?" She asked in her usual tone.
Deuce turned to the side while he rubbed the back of his head with his right hand, both sad and embarrassed.
"I got a hard time expressin' my feelings and stuff. And when I try…I-I just fumble all over my words."
Operetta smiled before she stood up off the bench clasping her hands, fighting back the tears that formed from her grey-purple irises.
"I'm so the same way. The only way I can express my emotions is through my music."
"I wish I had something like that."
Deuce heard her sniffling and shed a tear from her right eye.
"Hey, you okay?" The Gorgon asked her, showing concern for his new found female friend.
The music ghoul sniffled while she held both hands to her bosom then clasping her hands upon feeling the heartfelt emotion that came from Deuce upon describing his feelings toward his girlfriend. She wanted to help the boy make his feelings known to his loved one.
"I'm just so touched by your story. You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna help you write a song that tells Cleo everythin' you've been wantin' to tell her. Then you'll give it to her, then she'll be as touched as I am."
"Wow, you'd really do that for me?" Deuce replied, now relieved that he does not have to keep wondering how he should express his deep affections toward Cleo.
"It would be my honour." Operetta wiped a tear before she grabbed her purse, taking Deuce's right wrist.
"Come on!"
"Where we going?" The Gorgon asked, curious.
"To the catacombs. I put together a lil' old recording studio down there."
"Awesome!" Deuce replied, before he followed Operetta down toward the catacombs.
Cleo walked the halls and received the texts from Melody seeing a video recording of Deuce and Operetta sitting together.
The Egyptian Princess felt her body shake with both fear and anger before she quickened her pace.
"Ugh, Melody you're right. Deuce and that whore? Arrrgh."
Thursday: Here Comes Treble
Frankie's POV
It had been two days since I last talked to Holt. As I approached my locker to put some of my books away, I wanted to talk to his other half, Jackson to clear the air saying that me and 'he who shall not be named' are just classmates.
I began talking to myself out loud when I felt overwhelmed and stressed.
"Sigh, ok Francine. I have been thinking about it and I just gotta tell Jackson that there's nothing going on between me and-"
I spot Jackson. Okay! Perfect! Now I can go ahead and talk to him. As I closed my locker and took one step toward his direction, I saw him with-
"Heath."
I gulped, feeling my heart skip a beat and my face grew hot as a fried egg. I sighed while I crossed both arms over my stomach to push down my black tank top into my gray and red plaid skirt.
"Sigh, whenever I'm around Heath I feel all funny inside, it's like I couldn't stop giggling at him and staring at his body during the break."
I shook my head both ways hoping nobody heard that.
"Ugh, focus! He's so not your type."
I began to put my right palm on the side of my head, straightening out my brain in there before I opened my locker.
Wait, what? I rubbed my eyes only to see a miniature Heath fly out of my locker getting a little too close to my face.
"Hey, baby. Wanna take a ride on the Heathster? I know there's sparks firing between us."
Ugh, even in my head he still has that stupid, arrogant, grin plastered on his handsome face.
Wait, what? No, shoo!
"Ugh, just go away. You're just in my head."
"Why, I'm smart and sexy. Practically the whole packaged deal, Firecracker."
Wiggled his eyebrows at me suggesting something that is two, no, one baby step too far. Just like Heath in real life. I crossed my arms while I faced my locker still talking to myself, trying to get the blush on my face to go away.
"Come on, cut it out."
I really need to make sure I am sleeping and have my volts recharged as scaremester finals creep up so that I can stop thinking such lewd thoughts.
"Ugh, this isn't helping."
I groaned as I took back my books I needed for my next class. That of course did not help.
"Hehe, you and I make a good match. Now how shall I sin you up, my lil' virgin?"
The Heath in my head began to have flames light up on his head. I'd rather be a virgin than risk having hot sex with you, you pervert!
"Ugh, you're tearing me apart you know you…jerkface!"
I angrily shoved my books back in my locker before I took my crimson red face zap quick toward the nearest girls restroom to recuperate my emotions as this was so unlike me then go talk to Jackson. Just Jackson.
Not Heath…
Heath's POV
As me and Jackson talked about our upcoming weekend scaremester study plans, we both heard a nearby locker slam. We both glanced and saw Four Eyes running off.
Geez, guess even goody two shoes was freaking out over finals coming up. Well, what are the odds coming from a nerd like her, hehe.
"Hey, Heath. Isn't that Frankie? I want to ask her about the clubs offered here to add extra curriculars toward my resume so that I can finish up college applications."
While on the outside I held a smirk, I was confused as fuck on the inside. Why was I even showing concern for this spoiled princess?
"Huh, lemme text her."
If it seemed like something was bugging her, I sent her a text anyway since Jackson needed her help. Apparently she established a reputation at Monster High for being the "hot helper ghoul" around the mansters, including my friends.
Heath: Hey, you okay? Jackson saw you heading into the girls room. He's asking about you to help him out with club shit.
Frankie: Yeah, I'm fine. Can I walk with you guys to class for a bit?
Heath: Alright, we'll wait for you when your done touching yourself ;)
Frankie: Oh, shut up, perv.
That's the ghoul I know she could be. With a confident, feisty side.
No POV
In the halls…
Lagoona holding her books, saw Cleo and waved to her. She wanted to ask Cleo if they could have a study session together.
"Hey Cleo! Wanna study tog-"
"Can't talk right now." Replied Cleo, annoyed with having Deuce and their breakup on her mind as she kept walking with both her fists clenched.
"Why? Where you goin'?" The Australian ghoul asked, having noticed that one of her ghoul friends was in a bad mood. Cleo turned back around, shook up and was angry to answer Lagoon's question.
"To find Deuce and tell him it's over!"
"What, over? Crikey."
Lagoona proceeded to text Gil, asking her boyfriend to ask Deuce what was going on as Cleo was upset.
Deuce walked the halls frantically looking for Cleo. His iCoffin vibrated in his pocket getting a text message, however he was focused more on finding his girlfriend.
"Cleo!? Cleo?"
Coincidentally, Cleo walked over to him.
"Deuce…" Deuce looked over and saw Cleo, with a smile on his handsome face and walked over to where she was.
"Cleo, phew thank god. I've been looking all over for you."
Cleo, however, was not calm and relaxed to see her boyfriend.
"I'm sure you were." She swatted both her bandaged hands out in anxiety and frustration.
"How dare you embarrass me like that?"
Like in typical De Nile fashion, she caught the attention of other students that passed by in the halls. She wanted to announce their breakup in public despite her heart saying otherwise.
"And with Operetta of all ghouls!?"
"What? Lemme explain." Deuce replied, as he was used to seeing Cleo like this sometimes whenever there was a misunderstanding that occurred.
The De Nile princess grew sad and put her arms down, feeling defeated and now damaged goods.
"There's nothing to explain. You made your choice and may I just say was a tacky one."
As Cleo proceeded to walk away, Deuce gently grabbed her right shoulder. Operetta walked down the stairs hearing the couple fight. Melody walked over and saw Operetta behind her.
"Whoa whoa whoa! Cleo you misunderstood. If you just listen for five sec-"
Cleo, still emotional, pushed Deuce's hand away from her shoulder before she angrily pointed a finger at him.
"Forget it! I've wasted enough of my precious time with you."
Cleo turned around walking off with both hands clenched in fists, while having left a couple of stray tears behind.
"What needs to be fixed, you gotta do it yourself." Operetta commanded her spider pet to jump down in front of Cleo to stop her from leaving a great manster.
Melody approached Operetta, and confronted her, arms crossed with a glare.
"Hey, Ovaretta. what are you doing this time?"
Operetta rolled her eyes at Melody's naivety.
"Relax Meloduh, watch."
The lavender skinned southern belle snuck up behind Cleo, who shivered in front of her pet spider and put Deuce's headphones on her head. Cleo felt the headphones on her head and proceeded to listen to the audio track that played. It was not just any ordinary song, but a love song…that Deuce was singing to her. She calmed her nerves, and turned to face her Gorgon boyfriend with a loving smile.
"Oh, is this…a song about me?"
Deuce sheepishly smiled, and walked over while he rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah, it's about all the stuff I wanted to tell you. I just didn't know how. I'm not the best with expressing feelings sometimes."
"You wrote this?"
Deuce nodded before he lent her a small stack of papers.
"Yeah, with Operetta's help and Melody's old sheet music."
Melody gasped in surprise before she walked over toward Operetta.
"Y-you kept these all this time? I thought I lost them."
"Heh, a musician never reveals her secrets." Operetta replied with a wink.
"Hey, sorry for being a bitch to you after what happened back at our sophomore talent show and then I went chasing after popularity. I guess my vocals could always use a backup singer." Melody replied before nudging Operetta.
"Heh, all is forgiven."
Gil and Lagoona walked over to see Cleo and Deuce hug.
"Hey man, did you get my-oh, uh, never mind." Gil laughed nervously.
"Oh, it's the most beautiful thing I've heard. This is what you guys were doing together?" Cleo asked.
"Heh, surprise." Operetta chuckled.
"I can't believe I ever doubted you."
Cleo turned to Operetta and laid a bandaged hand on her left shoulder, and gave her an apology.
"If I gave apologies…I would give you one right now."
"I'll take it." Operetta chuckled with a shrug.
Cleo had struck an idea toward Operetta.
"You and Melody should sing my song at the end of scaremester school assembly tomorrow! Then everyone can hear you two and of course be reminded of my wonderfulness."
Operetta, however, put her hand to her right hip, and declined the generous offer.
"Oh I don't sing live, Ever. Unlike Melody's voice, my voice kinda does stuff to people. It's only safe to listen to on a recording."
Melody walked over, and put her hand on her music rival's shoulder where her pet spider was.
"With my vocals, that shouldn't be a problem. So that explains why you beat me at that Talent Show."
Cleo gave Deuce's headphones back to him and took Operetta's off her neck.
"I gotta go play this song for all my ghouls. They'll be so jealous!"
Frankie walked the halls with both Jackson and Heath. With Jackson next to her, she felt less nervous and anxious when around Heath.
"By the way, why don't you join the robotics club with me and Heath for the next scaremester? Robecca says we could always use an extra set of hands."
"For machines and not the sexual kind right, Four Eyes?" Heath added with a grin, followed by a wink.
Frankie glared at his direction, arms crossed.
"Oh haha, very funny. For once, can't you just be-"
Frankie's retort was interrupted by Cleo approaching her.
"Oh Frankie!? Check out what my super amazing boyfriend did, haha!" The De Nile said with glee.
"Yeah, uh, i-in a sec Cleo."
Jackson saw both Frankie and Heath's banter, and wanted to directly ask both of them given that both he and Holt noticed them either beating around the bush or having a lover's quarrel as they call it.
"So, are you guys together or something? Cuz I don't wanna get in the way and end up being a third wheel."
Frankie and Heath both looedk at Jackson in surprise at his question before back at each other, followed by turning away with both their cheeks flushed. Frankie covered her mouth, Heath slicked his hair back with his right hand.
Heath then gestured his right hand to a wave while waiting for his blush to fade before responding in a typical, jock tone.
"Me and her? Tch, yeah right cuz. She's such a goody two shoes, pain in the ass."
Frankie agreed with Heath, though a bit angry with his comment of referring to her as a pain in the ass. She knew she was more than just a bystander.
"Yeah, and besides we are so incompatible with each other."
With her blush still on her face, she turned around and pointed a finger at Heath's chest to make a justified comeback.
"A-and you're an arrogant jerk, you know."
"Hey, an arrogant jerk with a heart of gold." He looked down at her with a devilish grin, knowing full well how she liked
poking his chest.
'Wonder how her fingers feel…'
Before the fire elemental's thoughts got carried away, Frankie kept talking.
"Puh-lease. More like a heart of hot sh-"
Cleo was disinterested in these two arguing again so she walked in between the bickering pair, and put out the headphones in front of Jackson who ran for his life.
"Music? Oh no, not right before finals!"
The spectacled young man only managed to bend over in front of the stairs before his transformation took over to Holt. Heath snickered now that Jackson's secret is out with him and Holt sharing a body.
Melody saw the commotion and proceeded to go over to where Jackson was knelt over and asked him, "Hey, you okay?"
"Well, least the fun side of him is finally coming to light again."
Frankie looked back up at Heath, her frown now turned into a smile. She replied back to him in agreement. In agreement with the Heath Burns.
"You know, for once I agree with you."
The fire elemental looked back down to see her face, and took an opportunity to stare at her eyes. Those same eyes he saw on Picture Day that kept him paying more attention to her.
'She's really cute…'
"Why, thanks cutie. By the way, I think you're hot too." He smiled back while giving his signature flirtatious grin. His heart skipped another beat.
Frankie felt her blush resurface knowing that she mistakenly was about to call him hot shit, indirectly complimenting his looks.
"Y-yeah." And felt her heartbeat slightly increase.
Green light emanated from Jackson which blinded a couple of students for several seconds. He transformed into Holt with all of the minus Heath and Frankie in shock.
"Wait…DJ Hyde!?" Melody gasped in shock. She remembered the cute DJ from Cleo's party.
"Yo, what is everybody lookin' at? Oh wait, that'd be me." He slid down the side of the stairs, eager to make a grand entrance.
"Hooooooyeaaah! DJ Holt Hyde in the house. Man, Jackson is such a party pooper sometimes, god."
Melody rubbed her eyes to confirm that the half siren was not seeing things.
"Wait, so I have a crush on a hot DJ who's been enrolled at Monster High this whole time?"
"Well, now I can see why. Two split personalities like you." Operetta replied back to Melody with sarcasm.
The siren blushed, glaring at her former rival and now friend again "Oh, s-shut up."
Friday: Beast Ghoulfriends
No POV
Start of lunchtime…
Spectra scoutedthe halls of Monster High looking for hot gossip for her now public Ghostly Gossip blog. Peering out from the walls, she saw Frankie on the phone speaking with her father.
"Hey dad, what's up? Get out!"
"I smell a scoop!" Spectra peered into the wall and followed Frankie going up the stairs.
Frankie stopped in her tracks.
"You got me tickets to see Justin Biter this weekend with my best friends?"
Spectra grinned and held a ghostly left hand to her cheek before vigorously typing on her laptop.
"She gets to take her best friend? Her choice to go with? Or reveal her BFF? Her boyfriend is obvious who she is going to take…but what if she does not?"
Cleo approached Abbey, Draculaura, and Clawdeen by the lockers.
"Hey ghouls. Frankie gets to take me to the Justin Biter concert in town tomorrow. Also, does anyone know if Frankie is currently seeing anyone?"
Clawdeen pointed a finger, ignoring Cleo's question on who Frankie's boyfriend was as he was not named. "You?"
"Clearly. Frankie helped regain my royal confidence after I lost Homecoming queen to Abbey." Cleo proudly claimed.
"In Abbey defence, Abbey worked hard to plan dance. Frankie help listen to Abbey when I felt sad." Abbey crossed her arms.
"She was just being nice to you." Draculaura added, "I'm her BFF. I saw Frankie reading SevenTween in AP Trig class and we bonded over Justin Biter."
Cleo crossed her arms and rolled her eyes at Draculaura. "Ugh, puh-lease."
Melody and Jackson both walked over to the small group of ghouls.
"Hey guys!" Melody shouted.
Jackson showed his headphones. "You think it's rude if I wear headphones to the concert? I know Holt can be a real loudmouth…especially with the explicit language he spits out."
"Oh yeah! Heard Frankie's taking her BFF to the concert tomorrow. Obviously it's me." The siren ghoul boasted, pointed a finger to herself.
"You!?"
"Duh, I was the one who helped Frankie on her first day find her way around her classes." Melody proudly said to herself.
"Well, Frankie helped me deal with my personality disorder and get Manny to stop bullying me…well sort of." Jackson added while he adjusted his glasses..
Draculaura held both hands on her hips. "Well, she was just being nice, like how Frankie always is."
Then Ghoulia walked over upon viewing the post Spectra made about Frankie's BFF and pointed to herself with a groan.
"Ugggggh" (I'm Frankie's best friend. She is taking me to the concert)
"Wait, Ghoulia, you're Frankie's best friend?" Jackson replied, as he never knew Frankie hung out with Ghoulia much during school which was a given as he did not know her that well other than his friends describing her looks whenever she was brought up in conversation. His cousin especially on her looks though 90% of the time he makes fun of her appearance to mask his attraction toward her.
"Uh huh. Uggggh ugggggghaaah" (Yes, she helped me build the courage to ask out my boyfriend).
Lagoona walked over to the main group.
"Hey mates. Guess who's goin' to the concert with Frankie?" Lagoona smiled.
"What?" Cleo questioned, as Frankie would take her to the Justin Biter concert.
Cleo noticed that there was quite a crowd of friends within Frankie's social circle.
"We better go settle this."
At the creepateria…
Frankie was eating a sandwich, confused with why most of her friends were asking her what felt like a game of twenty questions from an issue of MonsterBeat magazine. The prep ghoul put her sandwich down on the tray, crossing her arms while having an eyebrow raised.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa guys! I'm not taking my best friend to the concert."
As the group was disappointed, Frankie held up 10 tickets, one of them for herself.
"I'm taking my best friends to the concert. You're all going!"
Everyone except Ghoulia and Clawdeen were excited and cheered.
"Then why did Spectra's blog say you could only take one of us?" Clawdeen asked.
Frankie looked around. "That's…a good question."
As Frankie saw a glimpse of Spectra who peered out of the walls, Melody asked her a follow up question.
"By the way newbie, who's your boyfriend?"
"What!?" Frankie shouted in embarrassment. "Sigh, Spectra sometimes likes to tell tall tales doesn't she?"
Spectra, now been put on the spot, held her laptop and closed it with a sheepish grin.
"I may have rushed printing a juicy story. I may have missed a couple of key facts. Well, guess I still have my work cut out for me when it comes to listening properly…I better make like a ghost and disappear."
Frankie smiled and thought, 'At least Spectra knows when and where to keep secrets.'
"Alright, guys. We'll all meet at the concert hall downtown tomorrow? I'll text everybody the details."
The group all agreed before leaving. Frankie had one spare concert ticket leftover. She was waiting until after school
to give Heath the concert ticket after texting him the details.
Heath's POV
After school
So apparently the princess wanted to ask me something. She said for me to meet her up in the clubroom after school even though today was the last day for club activities this scaremester before finals hit. I wonder if she wanted some alone time with the Heathster? Well, I could spare time for her, as a fellow classmate heh.
I opened the attic door and walked right in after having made a quick pit stop down at the school library to rendezvous with Jackson and go over our study plans for this weekend so that I don't end up failing both my AP Mad Science exams. And there she was, cleaning up the table.
"Alright, I'm here. Got your text on this concert."
She got up and walked over to me with both hands behind her back fidgeting. She bit her bottom lip looking up at me. I wonder if she would give me that look again as I found it a little cute. Just a little.
"So, will you go with me to the Justin Biter concert this weekend?"
I raised an eyebrow at her with a smirk. "Are you asking me out?"
"Well, out to a concert with your cousin and my friends."
Huh, so my cousin actually did have plans this weekend he mentioned to me, specifically tomorrow night. Which was unlike him to make plans by himself that does not involve any MMO or tabletop gaming meetups once a month with his other nerd friends.
"While I sometimes question your taste in music, I might go just to take a break from studying." I shrugged in response.
"Great! Um I mean, cool."
I could tell when she would at least try to be cool. She's gotten better, I'll give her that. Of course I'll humor her and accept, not empty handed of course.
"But I'll need your AP Chem lab notes…" I added giving her a wink.
"I'll send them to you in exchange for your AP Trig notes."
Oh, so that's why she asked me to go with her. To get my math notes. I wasn't a dumbass. I knew someone in the manster group broke the bro code by sending one of the girls my notes. When I asked each of the guys how my notes got out, none of them wanted to tell me and just said I was being paranoid. Yeah, right.
"Right, I'll only send them to ya if you give me a rub." I said before I walked closer to her and blocked the distance between us.
I felt her hands up on my grey shirt, stroking the fabric, feeling my abs. "This what you want?"
She purred, oh god she's making me excited. I felt the flames lit up on my head. Despite part of my body light up on fire, she did not back away. She was not scared of fire? Thought it ran in the family.
Two could play this game.
"You know I meant the other kind." As I put both my hands on her waist and leaned in closer to her cute face, I felt a spark on my chest, that caused me to take a step back and douse my flames out.
That did not stop the Heathster from wanting more as both our hands touched each other.
"Think I'm ready for that rub right now, actually."
The attic door opened, and Robecca popped in. Fuck, just as I was about to you know, get some.
"Hey guys, so since exams are next week, I was thinking today we'd-"
We both did not notice that we got a bit too close for comfort, putting it in Jackson's terms that is.
"Oh sorry, I hope I'm not intruding on your little love game here."
"What!?"
She turned away, I know when she gets embarrassed. She's so cute.
"You still have your hand on my chest ya know…Frankie."
I called her by her nickname. No, not the stupid nicknames I call her like Four Eyes or princess. But her actual nickname. I know she heard me, with Rebecca here I have to be nice.
"S-sorry."
Rebecca gave her a smirk. Wait since when were these two friends? Guess princess here gets along with everyone.
Least she's not a nosey bitch like Cleo.
"Heehee, I'm just kidding Frankie."
"I figured you were Robecca."
My last day of the scaremester before exams turned out to be one of the best. Thanks Jackson for getting me a date with this cutie, heh.
