Dean opened his eyes and realized that Cas had done his Jedi mind trick on him to put him to sleep so that he could take Sam to Lucifer and it appeared that Bobbi went along with it as well.
"Shit," Dean shouted and then punched a hole in the wall. What was going on with everyone? Was he the only one who saw the devil clearly? He was a egotistical monster whose obsession with Sammy was going to get him killed, and now it appeared that the devil was playing mind games with Cas and Bobbi as well.
He heard the roar of Bobbi's truck pulling in the driveway and he headed to meet him.
"Sam better still be alive or you're dead to me," Dean said as he opened the door and saw Bobbi.
"Don't get your panties in a twist, your brother is fine. Lucifer said that he will make a full recovery when he healed him."
"Well, if Lucifer said that, then I'm sure it's true. It's not like the devil has a reputation for lying or anything," Dean stated sarcastically.
"We didn't have a choice, Sam was about to be reaped," Bobbi stated.
"And who exactly told you that?" Dean asked.
"Lucifer told Cas …"
"Lucifer would say anything to get his hands on my brother, and you shouldn't have gone along with it," Dean said and then punched him.
"The first ones free, because I know how upset you are, but you hit me again idjit and I'll have your ass on the ground before you know it," Bobbi said.
"Dean, Bobbi, stop it," Sam pleaded as he opened the truck door and climbed out.
"Sammy, you're awake," Dean sighed out with relief and ran to him, pulling him into his arms.
"What happened? Did it work? Did we kill Lucifer?" Sam asked.
"No, it didn't work. What's the last thing that you remember?" Dean asked as he let his brother go.
"I'll be in the house. I'm glad that your awake Sam," Bobbi said as he headed in to give the brothers some time to talk.
"I remember you pointing the colt to Lucifer's head and then he fell to the ground and then it gets a little bit blurry, so what happened?" Sam asked.
"You lied to me, that's what happened. You've been having nightmares about Lucifer for months…Lucifer told me all about it. Do you have any idea what it was like for me to have to hear it from him?"
"I just didn't know how to tell you. I can't choose my dreams, and Lucifer's had access to them since I was five months old. Maybe because I'm his Vessel. Have you ever had any dreams about Michael?"
"You're his what? Michael, the Archangel? Why would I have dreams about him?" Dean asked.
"I'm Lucifer's vessel, just like you're Michael's."
"What are you talking about Sam?"
"Cas told me that there was this story that God wrote about the Apocalypse. I was Lucifer's vessel and you were Michael's and we are supposed to fight to the death. The last page was missing, so Cas doesn't know how the story ended, but it doesn't matter anyways. I'm not going to say yes to Lucifer," Sam explained.
"When did Cas tell you this?" Dean asked.
"About a month ago. Don't be mad at Cas, he wanted me to tell you."
"Then why didn't you?"
"I just…I didn't know how to process any of this. I hate it, but I'm connected to Lucifer. I've always felt like I was missing a piece of myself, like I had a giant, missing hole that everyone could see, but when Lucifer showed up in my dreams, it was like, I felt whole for the first time ever. I didn't know how to tell you that Lucifer is the missing piece to my soul. I didn't want it to be true, so I've been avoiding it and him, by refusing to sleep."
"You can't do that anymore Sammy. You had a seizure. You almost died. Cas couldn't heal you."
"Then who did?" Sam asked.
"Lucifer," Dean muttered. "I'm glad that you're ok Sammy, I really am, but I have to leave, go out on my own."
"For how long?" Sam asked as his eyes filled with tears.
"I don't know. I can't trust you and I just don't think that we can ever get back what we had before Ruby, before Lucifer…It's just different now."
"I'll get my things and go," Sam said.
"No, stay here with Bobbi. I'll go, I want to be on my own for awhile. Sammy, you can't trust Lucifer, no matter what he says or how he makes you…he's not your soulmate, he's just manipulating you because he needs you. Please take care of yourself and don't let him in," Dean pleaded and then he got into the Impala and drove away.
XOXOXO
"You will not take Sam Winchester. I won't let you. I'll die first," Cas said to Lucifer.
"I suppose you will, if you get in between me and Sam, but I really hope that it doesn't come to that brother. I like you, even if you helped hide Sam from me. When I was healing him, I noticed the Enochian carving on his rib. Very clever Castiel, too bad it didn't work on keeping me from his dreams. Sam and I have a connection stronger than any Enochian spell-work that you implement."
"He will never say yes to you."
"I believe that he will. Tell me something Castiel, if Sam wanted to say yes to me, would you stand in the way of his free choice?" Lucifer asked.
"I'll always support Sam even if he makes decisions that I don't agree with. If he really wanted to say Yes to you, then fine, but I won't let you manipulate him, lie, threaten or force your way to a yes."
"I would never lie, manipulate or threaten Sam. I can't even if I wanted to. With Nick here, I did all of those things and more to secure the yes that I needed, but Sam is different. He's my true vessel, my other half and I couldn't lie to him anymore than I could lie to myself."
"You really care about Sam?"
"Of course."
"Then stay away from his dreams before you kill him. Thank you for healing him," Cas stated and then was gone just as the flames around Lucifer died out.
