Chapter 46 I get a bonus Drakon
Alabaster's POV
I woke up to Claymore gently shaking me, and the sound of strong wind howling, like a pack of hellhounds. Opening my eyes I could barely see the silhouette of Claymore in the light of his phone's flashlight. Through a hole in the barn's roof a large raindrop plucked against an up, turned wheel barrel.
"Alabaster, are you sure you want to go through with this?"
"Yes I'm sure, it's time the camp gets what they deserve.
"What about those that had nothing to do with the war?"
"Thay will have to choose to stay and defend the camp or leave."
"You won't try to stop them?"
"No. Those that defend the camp defend the gods, my issue is with them, no one else. Come on, I need to be closer for this to work."
We walked in silence to the base of the hill as more rain started to fall.
"Are you sure you want to do this tonight? A tropical storm is supposed to be making landfall."
"All the better the sound of the storm should drown out most of the noise we'll make."
Stopping, I grabbed my charm.
"Mark, has the stage been set?"
"Yes we are ready."
"Tim, Phil?"
"We are ready."
"Then sit back and enjoy the show."
Thunder rumbled overhead as I placed stones in a circle on the damp grass. Then I took a spell card from my pocket and placed it in my circle. Sitting down I touched several runes I had drawn on my shirt and pants activating them so that they glowed green with magic. Closing my eyes I spoke a word of power to activate the ring I had cursed, which hopefully rested on Percy's finger. I started chanting the words of an ancient curse, one of many I'd stumbled across while I researched how to put Kronos into Luke's body. I went slowly recalling each syllable by memory. The first time I tried this I had Percy's adrenaline to use as a jump start but this time it was all me. With the final word I opened my eyes to see the sealing of Percy's cabin barely illuminated by the light of my cursed ring. When I first came across this spell I originally thought it was useless, it created a state somewhere in between possession and mind control. If done right the caster could give one command for the subject to carry out. As long as the connection was maintained the subject would follow through with the order and the caster would be able to see everything through their eyes. If done wrong, not only would it not work, but it would probably kill the caster. The first and only time I ever tried it I ordered Percy to win his duel against the son of Jupiter. But the connection was broken when Chiron shot the cursed bandanna off of Percy. That had been an experiment just to make sure this wouldn't fail.
"Kill the dragon."
/Percy swung his feet out of bed, crossing the empty cabin he opened the door stepping out into the warm night. His bare feet hardly making a sound in the damp grass. As he passed through the sleeping camp only two lights shone through the big house windows, but the distance would be too great for anyone to see him in the dark. He walked past the spy's hiding place, past the armed intruders laying in the tall grass. He even walked past the unconscious night watch without faltering in his stride. He walked straight to the crest of the hill, headless of the shadow that followed him. The dragon had partly uncoiled itself from the tree, it's head raised as it scented the air. Percy's left hand reached up to stroke the beast's chin, his right hand slid into his pocket. Faster than the rip current the sword was barred up to its hilt in an armor chink below the beasts chin. Seconds later something slammed into the back of Percy's head and everything went black."/.
Several minutes passed before my own sight started to return. During which I floated in and out of consciousness. My forehead felt hot, my whole body tangled. I didn't recall the effects being this bad last time. I heard voices es ner me but the words didn't make sense, then something heavy was draped over me. Warmth and a sense of strength flooded through my body, blinking I realized I could see clearly again in the golden light a powerful magic item. I sat up without much effort, the top of the fleece, which had been draped around my shoulders, flopped into my lap. I stared at it, it was more powerful than I ever thought it was. I could feel my strength returning and the flea's power never dwindled. A flash of lighting revealed Claymore watching me, worry creased his face. I smiled as the storm broke fully. Rain pelted down hard enough it stung upon impact. Lightning ripped through the sky instantly followed by deafening thunder. The howling wind tore at my loose clothes, and drove the rain harder. Clutching the fleece to myself I quickly shot out my hand tapping the card in my circle. The magic activated instantly, creating a protective green dome over the circumference I laid out.
"That went even better than I hoped, exactly how long was I out?"
"Three or five minutes."
"Not too bad, the tree, has it fallen yet?"
Claymore pointed to the hilltop where between flashes of lightning two figures could be seen swinging at the tree trunk. Then I heard it, a splintering crack, the wend was buffing the tree making it sway wildly, another crack then at the base it splintered fell. Turning my attention back to my small barrier shield I spoke an incantation, with the final word the border around camp-half blood lit up green. The normally invisible barrier that kept monsters and mortals out was now pulsating with a green light. The circumference of the barrier was incredible. It rose high into the sky, forcing even the weather to part around it. Shaking off my dizziness I placed my hand on my own small barrier, now that this one in the camps were linked, I could feel the immense strength of the magic which protected the camp successfully for centuries, if not longer. I looked back up the huge dome of pulsating green magic that lit up the stormy sky. How much time did we have for the other centuries around the camp or able to alert the others? Probably not enough. I grabbed at the charm around my neck and to be heard over the wind and rain.
"Mark, I need you to distract the camp and buy me some time!"
"How exactly do I distract a hundred plus angry enemies!?"
"Do you still remember how to summon a monster!?"
"Kinda, which one did you have in mind!?"
"A Drakon."
"Umm, can't say I've ever done one of those!"
"You know what they say, there's a first time for everything!"
"Right… but I'm not sure about all that, how about you summon it and I'll supervise from up here!"
I looked at Claremore.
"If I write down the instructions, can you take them to Mark?"
"Yes."
"Mark, I'm sending Claymore with instructions for the monster!"
"You know I wasn't kidding about supervising!"
"Too bad, because I wasn't kidding either, my hands are full and I need more time!"
I crammed the paper into Claymore's hand and turned back to my dome. Pulling the golden fleas tighter around my shoulders, I decided to start with my spell cards. They wouldn't do nearly as much damage but they could start wearing down the border while I got my strength back. I selected three to use in quick succession on each of them I had drawn a boulder. Holding them above my dome I touched each one to activate it, watching as a small bolder dropped off the card and slammed into the shield. Causing it to ripple with green light, spreading outward from the spot of the impact. Looking up at the camp's borders I saw the same thing happen on a much larger scale, a boulder materialized in the sky and dropped, slamming into the top of camp-half blood's protective barrier. I smiled as it polest green, the began to hit the barrier with everything I had, with every attack I could feel the dome start to weaken if only barely. As I placed my last spell card I swa Mark and his team running toward me as soon as he was in shouting distance he started yelling.
"ALABASTER WHERE YOU TRYING TO KILL US WITH THAT SUMMONS!"
"what are you talking about!"
"AN ETHIOPIAN DRACONIAN PLUS SOME KIND OF SPRINGTIME DRAKON ! ARE YOU INSANE?!"
"What in Hades are you going on about?!"
"I'M TALKING ABOUT THE ETHIOPIAN DRAKON YOU WANTED ME TO SUMMON AND THE ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY PLUS FOOT GREEN AND YELLOW DRAKON THAT ALL MOST CRUSHED ME!"
He punctuated every point with a series of colorful words. I still wasn't entirely sure what he was talking about. I'd given him the instructions to summon the Ethiopian dragon. As far as I was aware you could only summon one monster at a time. But I didn't feel like arguing the point, as long as the camp had a distraction, and Mark was alive, everything was fine. So I turned my attention back to the dome. I was now out of spell cards, but that didn't matter the fleece had done at work, and I felt strong enough to use incantations. I activated a rune on my shirt then yelled an incantation, finding the storm to my magic, essentially creating an area of affect. Which would make it nearly impossible for any of my siblings inside the camp to ward off my attacks. The storm increased to hurricane-like conditions. I raised my hands and yelled,
"Incantar Gelu Semita!"
Instantly the temperature plummeted, frost creeped across the grass and spread across the dome as hail the size of tennis balls smashed into my little protective barrier. Up on the hill was the same result. I yelled again, this time a wave of fire washed over the border making the right and frost hiss as it billowed into steam only to be rushed away by the winds. I felt the borders weaken more drastically this time underneath the onslaught of both my magic and the dragons the borders would fall and camp half blood would be left with no protection, they would finally feel what it was like to be hunted with no protection to have their home left defenseless. They would pay for the destruction of the Andromeda, they would pay for the lives they took, they would pay for supporting Olympus. Percy Jackson would pay.
