Black and White and Confused
Henry's mood spiraled out of control. "You want to do what? You purposefully want to go somewhere for a damned birthday wish! Come on, Paige. Use your head! I know you three have to things that you can't control, but this time, no."
"It's more than a wish. It's saving an innocent. That girl doesn't belong there. She was a teenager who made mistakes—like one of your kids. The ones that you brought back from a life of crime. If you had to risk your life for one of them, I would have no problem with it."
"It's the kids I'm worried about—what if you don't return? What am I going to do without you?" Paige realized his true fear of being alone with the kids. "You're right about my kids. I take risks without asking you and there are days that are rough. I'll accept if you and your sisters have a plan."
She kissed him. "Thank you."
Piper and Phoebe were finalizing the spell when Paige orbed in the attic after putting the kids to bed. "We're ready?"
Phoebe folded a piece of paper and handed it to Paige. "This is the return spell. It's as strong as the Source vanquishing spell. We added a drop of each of our blood to give you a Power of Three blessing."
"I'll take whatever I can."
Piper crossed her arms. "You sure you want to do this?"
Paige didn't hesitate. "Absolutely. Where's the spell?"
Phoebe lit five candles in a star shape, and she and Piper were on the outside of the star with Paige in the middle. "Magic forces come to thee, take this sister to
purgatory, make her safe, Blessed Be." With that, Paige's body dropped to the floor.
Paige couldn't tell if she was falling up or falling down. Her spirit swirled within space and time. In the seconds after the spell, she landed in the same spot. "Ouch!" Opening her eyes she could see the attic, but something was different.
"Maybe I just fell through time and space and ended up…" She stood up to find the attic in black and white—almost like when she was in the Noir time but never the attic. She heard the climbing of stairs, and she gasped seeing who was there. "Prue?"
Prue was annoyed. "What the hell are you doing here? Did you cast the purgatory spell?"
"Well, at least the spell worked."
"Do you know the danger you're in, still being alive and casting that spell. Do Piper and Phoebe know about this?"
"Of course, they wrote it. Prue, you don't understand…"
"Understand? What were the three of you thinking? Magic doesn't work in purgatory. Once, you're in. You're stuck in it."
"But the Elders…"
"You're now trusting the Elders? The Elders always have an agenda…"
"Never to harm us or separate the Power of Three. That would be…"
"Suicidal. Ever since I've been here, I haven't been able to check in on you guys, and now, it could end up costing your life. I hope you didn't come to try to rescue me."
"Rescue you? We didn't know you were here. The Elder told me…" At that point, a girl reached the attic. She was a brunette with light eyes and a medium build.
The girl placed her hand over her mouth. "I know you."
Paige acknowledged the girl's shock. "I know you."
