**This is my first work, so I'll do my best. Feedback will but great and much, much appreciated. I'll update whenever I get done with a chapter! I have little in the way of knowing were this will go but hey I have some ideas sooooo :)

Time has a weird way of working. Time shows itself in everything. Trees, with how they grow over the years to be as tall as buildings. Plants like mint, with how it grows, so fast it will take over your whole garden, if you let it. However, you never see time when it's your loved one's times to go.

Standing in front of my new house, I can't help but remember all the times I've moved places with my parents. How, every time, me and my dad would rush upstairs and race to see who could get their things to their new room. Or how mom and I would bake something sweet to help relax after the long drive or plane trip. But now they're not here and I'm alone.

Sighing, I walk up the few steps to the front door. It's a decent sized house, for one person, in the upper parts of Denali, Alaska. I would have a bedroom with a bathroom and walk-in closet, kitchen, living room, guestroom, and office to work in. Having a medium, from what I'm told, fortune due of my parents death insurance, I had some workers in to paint and move in furniture and the like, ahead of time. Everything's in dark colors, it's all I can stand at the moment. All the houses I've lived in with her parents were always so colorful. Like life itself painted it with love and care.

Putting the key into the lock, I hesitated. Taking a deep breath, I go in. Boxes. First thing, I see, right by the door. Not where I said to put them but whatever, I can move them. Looking around further, I see they did paint and put the furniture where I wanted it in the living room. Let's just hope it's like that in all the rooms.

Not wanting to stay in the house any longer, I put down my backpack and keys, opened the box labeled "Bedroom closet – Hiking" and put on my hiking gear. There's a big forest that starts at the end of my property. It should be a good place to hiking for an hour or two before it gets too dark.

Remembering right before leaving, my mom scolding me because I forgot to bring food and water when we went hiking, at the age of 9. I would sometimes forget and each time I would be scolding by my mom. It would always be, "Seraphina Maire Evergreen! You had better not have forgotten..." or "Seraphina Maire Evergreen! You know better than to forget…" Sometimes even dad was scolded. When it dad being scolded it would be kinda funny; he would forget the rain tarp for camping or, more often, his hiking stick. Mom would always tug his ear and scold or ask harshly how he could've forgotten. She was always checking on us when we did for get something though. Asking if we needed a drink from her water or if dad or I needed a hand.

Walking into the kitchen, I wasn't sure if the person I hired shopped for me, did it yet or not. Hoping they did, I opened some of the cabinets. Not finding much, I opened the ones at the island.

"Ah! There you are ye fuckers." I had found some can goods but most of all I found the hiking bars I like! Why they were in the back I don't know. Nonetheless I put some in my bag, opening the fridge for some water bottles, I was good to go.

The trees were even bigger than I thought! Walking up to the tree line, the trees towered over me like giants. While looking at the tree I could see just over by the base of a few, was worn path. It would seem the old owners may have made the path. Walking down it, the forest was marvelous!

About 20 minutes into the forest, I still couldn't stop myself from looking up at the treetops and around at all the growth that passed underfoot. Spotting a good place to sit by a smallish pond, I laid out of blanket I had just for this very purpose. Whenever I would go hiking by myself with no set places in mind, I would always find a good spot to read by some water, if I could.

Taking out the newest Twilight book, I sit myself down to read. Once I heard that it was about vampires, I just had to read it. I loved vampire books; it didn't matter the genre or theme. To me, I loved the ways the author would go about writing about a, once human, now immortal. I had read all of the other books with high hopes, only to not like them too much. Edward just seemed controlling, and Bella seemed like a fool that just went headfirst into things. That being said I wasn't about to not finish the series.

With Breaking dawn in my lap, I opened my bookmark, I was almost done with the book. The Volturi just got on the field.

What was that?

*Snap Snap*

Is that an animal? Turning to look in the direction of the sounds, I didn't see anything. Maybe the sticks fell from the tree? Standing and turning in different directions to make sure I wasn't in danger from a bear or something, I was tackled to the ground.

Screaming in fear, I tried to see what it was, but it was like stone was on top of me and I couldn't move it off. I had a second to realize it had arms, it was a human, before they pulled my head to the side and bit me. Screaming again in pain and confusion, I scrambled to get them off but once again couldn't. What are they doing? I strange feeling started at my neck. They…they're drinking my blood! After that realization, I couldn't feel any but the pain. I couldn't even tell when they stopped or what happened after, all there was, was pain like fire coursing though my veins.
