I don't own anything nor do I make money from my stories. This is an avatar the last Airbender fanfiction.

(Chapter 1:Deadly rock baby)

"Darkness? Or could it be emptiness? Honestly, I can't see the deference. The void around me remains unchanged regardless. So much time has passed, yet so little. I am dead. I figured that out quickly enough. For a long time I knew nothing. Nothing but the void. But as if somehow a light of inspiration hit, I remembered everything again. My name, my life, and my death. I was Jacob. A man the age of thirty without a purpose. My life was wasted on anime and fanfiction. Until I died. Is was sudden and oh so violent. The earth shook and broke beneath my feet before I found myself being dragged underground. My skin was ground, my bones were crushed and my life ended. By a sinkhole of all things."

[Ching!]

[Awareness detected.]

[Analyzing.]

"What? I thought I heard something." I looked around the nothingness in confusion. Sound isn't something I ever expected to experience again.

Out of nowhere, a grey text box window appeared. A sudden wave of excitement rushed through me at the sight of it. "Incredible! This is actually happening! Okay calm down. The set up is the most important step. Currently there is only an empty space for me to select a world. Oh man. How the heck am I supposed to choose? Fiction is limitless. Oh I know. System, show me a list of the top five worlds I would enjoy."

[Confirmed. Top five most enjoyable fictional world's for you has been listed below.]

1. Yu-Gi-Oh Gx.

2. Pokémon Scarlett.

3. Avatar the last Airbender.

4. Fairy tail

5. My Hero Academia

"Wow. I am surprised dragon ball, high-school of the dead, and one piece aren't on the list. Then again, it's not hard to see how an adventure in those worlds could become a nightmare very quickly."

Several minutes pass as I think carefully over the pros and cons of each choice. Finally I came to a decision.

"Ok. Out of all these options, only one world is free from the risk of a complete apocalypse. I choose Avatar the Last Airbender."

[World conformation complete. Please select your skillset.]

" I want to be another Avatar obviously."

[Option unavailable. The host's current cycle of reincarnation is unable to access this worlds Avatar cycle. Please select a single bending element.]

"Crap! That is definitely a letdown, but atleast I can choose my bending element. The four elements in Avatar have been used in a lot of creative ways. Naturally I want the element that can transform me into an unstoppable bad ass. Airbenders are incredibly fast and deadly. The option to fly is priceless but not exclusive to air. Each type of bending could accomplish it. Not to mention the power to collapse a person's lungs. Water has been shown to be quite varied. In addition to changing water to ice or steam, healing and blood bending can make someone very dangerous. Then there is earth. Devastatingly fatal. In addition to manipulating several tuns of material with ease, it can be used to bend metal and Lava. Though there is the possibility that Lava bending requires a special bloodline. Finally, there is fire. The only thing that stands out to me is the added benefit of generating lightning or combustion. Again, the latter is likely a bloodline. This is so hard!"

Minutes passed and I was no closer to picking than when I started.

"Dang it! This is impossible!" Just as i began to loose it a detail I hadn't quite kunected caught my attention.

"four elements, sub elements, bending, matter. Yes matter. Could it really be that simple. It is! The four elements are the control of deferent states of matter. Airbenders control Gasses, water benders control Liquids, Earth benders control Solids, and fire benders control energy. It's so simple. This makes my choice easy."

Countless plans, and opportunities enter and exit my mind at lightning speeds. Until finally, I decide.

"I select earth bending. I want to be an earth bender with unmatched potential and full awareness of my element. I want a strong body that will train easier than anyone else. If possible i would like adaptive Regenerative abilities also."

[Talent selection confirmed]

[Skills acquired]

(Earth bender prodigy: Elite)

You have unmatched talent in earth bending. Control, power, range, awareness, creation, and development in earth bending techniques are significantly easier.

(Mighty man: Elite)

Your body is at the pinnacle of human evolution. Your bodies, strength, flexibility, stamina, immune system, agility, and development are greatly above the common man.

(Minor adaptive regeneration: inferior) arguably the most powerful form of natural regeneration nature can produce. The user can regenerate and adapt in response to bodily harm, anything from becoming less prone to scratches to being impossible to cut, a slight immune system boost to becoming invulnerable to any biologically debilitating conditions or even increasing their own power in response to a stronger opponent, from extremes such as a brief regenerative boost to even becoming immune to being killed the same way twice, this can be triggered from virtually any damage as long as it can be regenerated regardless of the method.

(Curse of regeneration: superior)

Your body has exceeded the limits of evolution so nature itself is in rejection of your existence. Your bodies recovery to all types of damage is ten times slower than an ordinary person.

If I had eyes at the moment they would be wide in shock and amazement. Even with something as potentially life threatening as curse of regeneration I should be able to claw my way to the top of this world.

"Hay wait a second. Just let me."

Before I could finish my words the world around me turned white and I was gone.

Drip. Drip. Drop. Deep in the dark wilderness of the earth kingdom, next to a dirt path, a small basket can be found. Fancy wet green cloth is tightly rapped around its contents and a golden medallion can be seen dangling from its handle.

The first thing I notice is that I am cold. Extremely cold. The second is that I'm wet. As I open my tiny emerald eyes the first thing I see is the thick golden amulet and the umbrella shape of the gray willow tree above it. An unusually long strand of onix hair is stuck to my pail, red nose and I start to remember how I got here. A growl can be heard from my stomach as I start shivering crazily.

"well, I guess it's to late to plead my case. This is a terrible place to leave a newborn."

I shakily slip out my stubby little hands from beneath the blankets and attempt to sit up. It didn't work. Feeling helpless I let out a sneeze.

"Chuu! Sniffle. I have never felt so weak in my life."

I try once again and manage to pull my upper body free from the wet blankets by gripping the golden medallion. Crossing my arms to stave off the cold I watch the Shiny metal sway back and forth. Words in some sort of Kanji have been intricately carved into the surface. Being unable to read it, I was going to disregard the item in favor of finding a way out of the basket when the metal turned enough for me to catch a glimpse of the other side. When I did my mind stilled in recognition. In its center was the carving of a flying boar. The symbol of a rather recognizable noble family in the avatar universe. The beifong family.

"This can eather be very good for my future or very bad. If I am correct this likely means I am an illegitimate child of the beifong family. I can't imagine why they would abandon me with something to identify me like this but it really doesn't matter in my current predicament. Dang it, it's so cold."

Overlooking my tiny pink body, I weakly move to the edge of the basket to look around. Fall back to the wet blanket with a slat I feel my mind fading in weakness.

"Everything I have to my name is in this basket and clothes are sadly not in the mix. Why aren't my thoughts slowing down? I am so tired. Is, is this insomnia."

Soon enough darkness took hold and I feel into a deep cold slumber. The next time my eyes opened it was to the brightness of the sun. Surprisingly, I found that my blanket was now completely dry with the acception of the putrid smell coming from beneath it. Eyes widening I shot to my feet only to do a tumble out of the basket with the blanket still glued to my backside.

"Awww why?"

I not so gently rip off the soiled cloth. Now clad in my literal birthday suit. I start trying to crawl in search of something, anything to eat. The ruff grains of dirt felt like sandpaper against my knees and my tiny body bairly had the strength to remain upright. So many contradictions were in play but hunger and thirst are the only things that matter to me. I didn't question how I was still alive after passing out from hypothermia, nor did I question the physical strength to crawl I certainly shouldn't have. But if I did I might have realized the only thing keeping me alive the last five days i spent in a coma was my minor adaptive regeneration.

An eternity seems to pass before my little limbs give out. I drop to my belly only twenty feet away from where I started.

"Dang it! I can't do anything for myself with a body like this. By all right I should have died again. Forgot getting food. I can't even eat it with this body. If only I had more power. That's it! Baby or not, I should be an earth bender right?"

Feeling a small amount of hert, I reach out my arm to a small nearby rock as if to grab it, only, for nothing to happen. I almost face pulm at my stupidity.

"Right. Earth bending is all about powerful stances and strong attacks."

I scrunch up my nose in disappointment. Only for my eyes to widen in realization.

"Except, it isn't. When they showed badger moles moving earth in the show all they did was move there claws like a sea turtle swimming."

Feeling a glimmer of hope, I start by placing my arms in front. Then I wave them down in some failed representation of a breaststroke. I keep at it for minutes. With each passing second I grow more desperate as the earth does nothing in response. Finally I let out a scream in frustration.

Why! What did I do to deserve this! So what if I got a little greedy! You wouldn't even let me try to change my mistake! Aaaaaaah!"

With a roar that definitely wasn't an infants whiny squeal, I rased my fist and struck the ground with all my toddler's might. Crack! Crumble! Crash! To my utter amazement, a wave of rocks rose from the ground like a wave. The soil turned and trees uprooted. When the rocks finally stopped I had an almost clear view in a 180 angle infront of me spanning fifty yards. That's right. A had basically cleared a parking lots worth of forest with the punch of a baby.

"Holy sh*t! That's what I called earth bending. Talk about some avatar kyoshi bullsh*t right there."

So I did the only thing an amazed child who discovered his dad's hidden fire works collection would do. I tried doing it again. I rased the same fist and punched the dusty earth a second time. Unlike the last wave of destruction, only a singular pillar of stone rose. It was about two feet wide and five feet tall. Frowning, I tried again, and again, each attempt making a seemingly random result. But with one acception. Each wave of earth became more concentrated, and each piller became less jagged. My hunger and thirst faded further and further into the back of my mind as I seemed to draw power from a seemingly limitless pool of stamina. Before I knew it i was standing on my knees, throwing punches, pulms, chops, and swings that reduced the surrounding forest to a pile of rubble. I never noticed how each motion became easier, or how my hunger faded to the background of my attention. I didn't stop until the tail tale signs of dust filled my vision.

"This. Gasp. This is amazing."

With deep dry breaths I look down only to be stunned at what I found. My body hadn't changed. I was still naked, and definitely still an infant. What amazed me was how despite all that, my feet were the only thing touching the ground. I was standing, and it felt natural.
