Happy new year! Or gott nytt år as I usually say. I hope you've all had a merry Christmas. As I'm writing this, I'm a bit over an hour into 2024. So I hope everyone has a nice year.
And as usual I start this year with working on each of my stories.
But then of course, I have absolutely no idea about how to write this chapter. But if someone is reading this, I hope you'll like it.
If anyone would like to read it, I started another story for Good witch. A Christmas syoc story. The syoc is over and done but I think the story will be a good one and Cassie and some of the others has big parts in it.
Thanks to leily. Spenstar for reviewing.
It felt like the fiftieth time in only the past couple of weeks I had been lying on this bunk.
Did it ever happen that patients at the dentists' fell asleep here?
Because if I slept so bad as I had lately I probably would.
If it hadn't been for my whole mouth being open and the dentists' keeping their metal instruments in there. I didn't even know what was going on, so all I had to do was to do as they told me and hopefully they wouldn't hurt me.
They did though, a lot!
"Hnm…" Dr. Winter sat up and pulled out his metal instruments from my mouth and then looked at some X-ray pictures that had been taken the first time I was here. "I can actually see here what it is that hurts you so bad. But we can fix that one, right here and now if you want to. And then I can give you some local anaesthesia and pull out the first one of those wisdom teeth." He pointed to the computer screen and to my teeth. "But the ones in the lower jaw have got longer roots, and one of them is right next to a big nerve. So I think you're going to have to go to the hospital and a jaw surgeon to pull out those."
I hadn't heard much after "I can actually see here what it is that hurts you so bad." As if I had expected for Dr. Winter, nor anyone else to believe me when I said it hurt.
But I did understand enough, Dr. Winter spoke to Emerson- his student or a nurse or whatever he was on my other side and they spoke as good as Greek!
"Are you ready for this then?" Emerson asked me while Dr. Winter was sorting out his instruments. "Dr. Winter is one of our best at pulling teeth out. We can let you go home and you'll have a letter soon with a time for an appointment. But that would mean we only give you more time for this nervousness." He sent me a meaning glance.
I thought I had just come to the dentist today to do some cleaning…
"Now…." Dr. Winter was holding onto one needle with a syringe came a bit too close and I could feel myself tensing up. "…You don't have to do anything right now. Only relax, breath through your nose. You're doing so well."
So why wasn't I saying anything?
It was like I had their voices already in my head that if this wasn't done today I would still only have to come back and stay nervous until the next time.
"Are you ready?"
NO!
"Here we go."
Random fact
I keep thinking about an old sketch I watched, that the dentist and mum told me about. Some episodes- like the ones at the dentists' are on YouTube but I can't find any that have English text to it. If anyone wants to watch or understand Norwegian, they're called Wesensteen Hos tannlegen.
