The Ceremonial Duel
Chapter 2: Climbing the Wall
Recap: Dark Yugi has 4000 LP, 2 cards in hand, Obelisk the tormentor (2500 ATK), Slifer the Sky dragon (2000 ATK) and The Winged Dragon of Ra (5000 ATK).
Joey has 200 LP, Silent Swordsman LV 4 (3100 ATK), and Blue Flame swordsman equipped with burning soul sword (3100 ATK) and Ground Erosion equipped to Obelisk's monster card zone and 1 set card, plus 6 cards in hand.
"He played all 3 Egyptian God's at once!" Kaiba says shocked.
Joey and the others all shocked as well as the duelist himself feels the most pressure staring down the three god cards before him.
"Now I play pot of greed which lets me draw 2 more cards and raise Slifer's ATK to 3000 (Slifer 1000-3000 ATK). Then I place 1 card face down and end my turn (Slifer 3000-2000 ATK).
"Now what am I gonna do?!" Joey thought, trembling in fear. Tristen could see his best friend squirming and didn't like the look of things.
"Hey Marik, you're the expert on those things, got any ideas how to stop them?" Tristen asked. Marik merely gave a concerned look, obviously puzzled as he stares at the 3 god monsters.
"Well individually they all do have weaknesses, but when all 3 are on the field I don't know…I don't know how they could be beaten. Hearing this Kaiba scoffs.
"Pff! This is a waste of time. I knew Wheeler didn't have what it takes to crush Yugi. That honor should have been mine, now back off kid and let a true champ take down the king of games!" Kaiba roars. Joey's ears ring hearing those words and it lit a fire in him, instantly stopping his squirming.
"OH YEAH RICH BOY!?" Joey hollers, catching everyone off guard.
"I'll tell you what! I'm not just gonna win, I'm gonna beat all 3 of dis God cards at once!" Joey yells, his declaration baffling the others.
"This is no time to joke Joey!" Tea yells, but pauses when seeing Joey's firm look showing he's serious.
"Yeah right Wheeler, you really think you can actually do what no duelist has done before and topple that wall before you, crush all 3 God cards?!" Kaiba asks unamused.
"Yup" Joey simply says with a cocky grin. Kaiba groan's in response before giving an arrogant smirk.
"Fine, then this i gotta see. But when you fail Wheeler, I'll do what you couldn't as you whimper in her dog house." Kaiba yells, Joey grumbles as he gets pissed hearing this.
"Alright then Yugi, my go!" Joey yells as he draws.
Turn 6. Joey's hand (7)
"Now my swordsman Levels up again to LV 5! (Silent Swordsman LV4-5, ATK 3100-3600).
"Alright! It's one of da new cards I got for this duel. Trouble is, I need Red eyes out to use it." Joey eyes his new hand; he doesn't have the card.
"Lucky for me, I know how to get it out here." Joey thought.
"I play the magic card Dark Dragon Ritual! All I gotta do is send my red-eyes Gearfield to the graveyard to summon Knight of Dark Dragon's, and I'm playing him in ATK mode!" (1900 atk).
"But Joey, any monster summoned to your field gets hit by Slifer's special ability, losing 2000 points and since yours is weaker then that, it will be destroyed right away?" Yugi asks surprised.
"Yeah Joey what are you thinking!?" Tristen asks as Slifer roars and open's its second mouth, charging up a blue fireball.
"Now feel the power of Slifer's Second Mouth!" Yugi yells as Slifer fires, but everyone gets shocked as the blast instead goes to Joey's duel disk.
"What's this!?" Yugi asks shock.
"I activated da magic card Mirage Spell! Now since Slifer was about to weaken my monster this card increases my LP by the amount he would have lost instead!" (Joey LP 200-2200)
"Brilliant move Joseph!" Solomon cheers. Everyone nods in agreement.
"Thanks, now I get to activate da effect of my knight! I sacrifice it to bring out my favorite monster from my deck! How about a warm welcome from my Red Eyes Black Dragon!?" Joey yells as he summons the black dragon who roars.
"Awesome, Joey's best monster!" Tristen yells enthusiastically.
"Yeah but it's not gonna look too good soon." Odion said bitterly to everyone's concern. Sure enough, Slifer's ability activates again (Red eyes 2400 – 400 ATK).
"Alright then Yugi, I place 2 cards face-down and end my turn!" Joey yells (cards in hand 2, Red Eyes ATK 400 - 2400) as he eyes Yugi's face down which Solomon takes note of.
"Dat cards gotta be mirror force." Joey thought.
"Yes Joseph, best not to charge in recklessly again. Analyze your opponents field after all, why didn't Yugi use Ra's ability to wipe out your monsters?" Solomon thought.
"Well that was a flop Wheeler!" Kaiba yells.
"Don't get impatient, I have a feeling Joseph wants those God monsters on the field for the moment." Solomon says, his comment surprising the other's as Joey doesn't look nervous.
Turn 7: Dark Yugi (hand 3, Slifers ATK 2000-3000)
Yugi plays the magic card Mining for Magical stones to discard 2 cards (Buster Blader and Gazelle) and retrieve Card of sanctity from his graveyard and activates it, forcing each player to draw till they hold 6 cards. (Slifer's ATK 0-6000). Slifer attacks Blue Flame Swordsman followed by Ra and Obelisk attacking Silent Swordsman LV5 and Red eyes respectively. Strangely, Joey doesn't take any damage and they reappear out of thin air.
"What's this?!" Yugi cries out in shock.
Joey reveals his face down card.
"Mirage Ruler!?" Yugi yells surprised and Joey nods.
"Dat's right bud, it saved all my monsters from being destroyed this turn, and I don't lose any LP's all I had to do was give up 1000 of them". (Joey LP 2200-1200).
Dark Yugi sets a card (Slifer ATK 6000 – 5000) and ends his turn.
Turn 8: Joey draws, (7 cards in hand, Silent Swordsman LV 5 - 6, ATK 3600-4100) and activates Polymerization to fuse Red eyes with command knight in his hand to fusion summon Red Eyes Black Slash Dragon (2800 ATK). Slifer attempts to use it's special ability to lower its ATK by 2000 but Joey chains with his trap Reverse Trap, now all ATK or DEF Increases or Decreases that happened this turn are reversed. (Red eyes ATK 2800-4800, silent swordsman ATK 4100-3600). Joey then uses Red eyes anime effect to equip gearfield the red eyes knight from his graveyard to his dragon and increase (or decrease due to reverse traps effect) 200 ATK and gain its effects. (Red eyes 4800-4600). Red eyes sends with Gearfields effect burning soul sword to the graveyard to destroy yugi's set magic cylinder.
"Perfect! It wasn't mirror force, I can make this work." Joey thought to himself."
Joey then uses Blue flame swordsman effect to add it's atk to Slifer this turn but due to Reverse Trap it loses instead of gains. (Blue ATK 3600 – 0) (Slifer 5000 atk – 1400). Joey attacks Obelisk with silent Swordsman but Yugi activates mirror force trap to destroy all of Joeys attack monsters but Joey activates a card from his hand afterword's.
"Here's my ace in the hole Yug! I play Red Eyes Retro Dragon! And he has a doozie of a special ability, he brings back all the cards I lost due to your trap's effect since you took out Red Eyes!" Joey yells.
"It what!?" Yugi asks shocked.
"Bravo Joey! So that's why you waited to attack, to bait Yugi into wasting his trap card!" Solomon says to the groups shock.
"Not only that, but with reverse trap in play he'll make them stronger, while the pharaoh can't use Ra's ability to sacrifice the gods for more power because then he'll just grow weaker!" Marik explained in shock.
"He's turning the Egyptian Gods against themselves!" Kaiba says shocked, a hint of admiration in his tone he was desperate to hide.
"Yup, Now welcome back boys!" Joey cries as a portal opens and his monsters eyes glow from the void.
Joey plays Retro in DEF via its effect, then he revives all his monsters in the mode they were in before destruction.
"Remember, reverse traps still in effect. Thanks for the power up buddy! I can always count on ya!" Joey yells sarcastically as slifer strikes each monster with its special ability. (Blue ATK 1800-3800) (Slash dragon ATK 2800-4800) (Silent Swordsman LV 1 1000 – 3000). Their blades absorb the blue fire lightning ball and charge blue and give off sparks of electricity.
"Here we go Silent Swordsman! Attack Obelisk the Tormentor...Transform!" Joey yells as Silent leaps towards Obelisk, its sword getting a silhouette of Slifer's face as it plunges its blade into Obelisk's chest, destroying it.
Then Joey attacks Obelisk with Silent and destroys it. (Yugi 4000 – 3500 LP)
"He's gone!" Yugi says shocked.
"Yup, 1 down 2 to go bud!" Joey yells.
Blue flame swordsman attacks Slifer (Yugi 3500 – 1100 LP), It's blade gains a slifer image as well as it slashes its head off.
"Not done yet buddy!" Joey yells as he uses Blue's special ability to add it's ATK to a different monster but reverse traps changes that increase to a decrease, he chooses Ra. The Blue Slifer aura wraps around Ra as it roars as its strength falls. (Blue (3800 – 1800, Ra 5000 – 3000).
"Alright Ra, it's payback time for roasting me a while back. Now you're my dragon's dinner ya big chicken! Red Eyes attack!, Destroy Ra!" Joey hollers as Red eyes's black blade in its mouth becomes enveloped in black and blue fire and it performs 2 slashes at Ra's body in a cross manor, destroying it and creating a wall of smoke.
"I can't believe it!" Kaiba yells astonished. He couldn't believe Wheeler kept his word. As much as he hated to think about it, perhaps he did have a right to duel Yugi and wasn't a 3rd rate amateur…..just a second rate maybe.
"I know! He took down all three Egyptian Gods!" Mokuba cried out.
"Does that mean Joey won!?" Tristen yells.
As the smoke clears Ra is gone, but replaced is a wall of furry Kuriboh's to everyone's shock.
"Thank you Kuriboh! You saved me once again." Yugi says grateful to the little fiend type monster who's spirit winks at him from his graveyard.
"Ah NUTS! I was so close!" Joey groans.
"Don't be so upset Joey, I may have survived but you did gave an impressive display today. It's almost hard to believe you defeated all the gods in one turn like you said." Yugi praises and Joey gets bashful.
"But don't think that means I'm not prepared." Yugi says cryptically and sternly to Joeys worry as he ends his turn.
(Cards in hand 4)
"My move!"
Turn 9: Yugi draws (cards in hand 5) LP 1100.
Yugi activates dark hole to destroy all monsters on the field. Since Blue was destroyed Joey can special summon then original flame swordsman from his deck or graveyard. (Flame 1600 DEF). Yugi then plays Awakening from Beyond to let Joey draw 2 cards and in return add one monster from his graveyard to his hand. He selects Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts. Yugi then uses Polymerization to fuse Gazelle and Berfomat in his hand to Fusion summon Chimera the Flying mythical beast in ATK mode (Atk 2100)
"Now Chimera attack his swordsman with Pulverizing Pounce!" Yugi commands as Chimera lunges at the swordsman, shattering his flame blade and destroying it.
"That ends my turn! Don't think just because you beat the gods meant you beat me!" Yugi says as he sets a card and ends.

Turn 10: Joey draws (cards in hand 7) LP 1200.
Joey plays graceful charity to draw 3 new cards and discard 2 (Axe raider and Magic arm shield) he then plays Monster Reborn to revive Axe Raider in ATK (1700) then plays the spell Ties of the brethren to special summon at the cost of 1000 LP (LP 1200 -200) monsters with the same type as Axe Raider but he can't attack this turn, then he chains with emergency provisions to send Brethren to the grave to gain 1000 LP (200 – 1200 LP) He special summons 2 Marauding captains. Duke thinks joey is planning to stall for time with the captains preventing warriors from being attacked, but Joey shakes his head in denial. He plays the magic card The warrior returning alive, he originally contemplated returning Blue Flameswordsman to wipe out Yugi's beast and all his LP by transfering ATK to Axe Raider, but is cautious of Yugi's set card, so he decides to add Gilford the lightning to his hand. He tributes his 3 monsters to summon it which destroys all of Yugi's monsters. Chimera is destroyed.
"Good move Joey…but unfortunately for you not good enough, you just activated Chimera's ability. When it's destroyed it resurrects 1 of the monsters I fused to create it and I choose this one! Gazelle the king of mythical beast! Show yourself my beast! (Gazelle in DEF 1200).
"Oh well, at least chimera's gone." Joey says, relaxing a bit.
Joey sets 1 card and ends his turn. (2 cards in hand)
Turn 11: Yugi draws (1 cards in hand)
Yugi sacrifices gazelle to summon Beast of Gilfer in DEF (2500 DEF).
(0 cards in hand)
Turn 12: Joey draws. (cards in hand 3). He contemplates leaving gilfer alone knowing its ability but doesn't wish to risk leaving a strong monster out. Joey equips Gilford with fairy meteor crush to inflict piercing damage and attacks Gilfer destroying it (Yugi LP 1100 – 800). Yugi activates its effect to lower the ATK of Gilford by 500 and equipping gilfer to it. (Gilford 2800- 2300 ATK).
Joey sets a card and ends. (Hand 1).
Turn 13: Yugi draws.
Yugi draws but doesn't look to Ishizu's shock.
"I will trust the heart of the cards to guide me here." Yugi and atem think in unison as they activate the card they just drew.
"I activate Dark Magic Curtain to trade half my LP (800 - 400) to summon my ace monster and most faithful servant the Dark Magician (2500 ATK).
Joey and the others are shocked he got the card he needed for this situation but Yugi chides them for it, saying he expected it, in fact…he expected all of this from the very beginning.
"Joey, though I held the 3 most powerful monsters in existence, I knew your heart would guide you past them. I knew I was going to need more to defeat you today." Yugi says.
"What are you saying Yug?" Joey.
"Joey…what I am saying is I KNEW YOU WOULD DEFEAT THE GODS!" Yugi shouts to everyone's shock.
"But there's no way he could have predicted all of this would happen!?" Kaiba says astonished.
"Yeah rich boy well apparently he did cause now he has the strongest monster in play." Duke says annoyed.
Next Yugi activates his set Book of Secret arts which raises the ATK of Dark Magician by 300 (2500-2800 ATK). Joey recoils at this reveal.
"Aw nuts! If I had gone for broke I would have won with Axe Raider, Dang it!" Joey curses in his head. Yugi smirks at his friends unease, feeling a surge of confidence in this.
"Go Dark Magician! Destroy his Gilford with Dark Magic Attack!" (Yugi)
Dark magician destroys Gilford and its equip card (Joey 1200 – 700 LP).
"Joey! This is the strongest monster I have left. So if you want to defeat me here today you must first defeat my Dark Magician!" Yugi cries out.
"Easier said then done Yug. All I got is Baby Dragon in my hand. It can't beat that thing. Can…Can I even beat his dark magician with what I got left? I used up my best cards beating those gods!" Joey thinks in panic as he stares down Dark Magician, his last wall to overcome to get victory.
