Chapter 49- The Last Clash
Shadic and Infinite move and dash about the empty void of space, fist continuously colliding in an even exchange of blows producing the same strange shockwaves from the force of their blows. The exchange ends with Shadic and Infinite simultaneously landing a punch to one another's faces and the two fall back from each other. Infinite unleashes two parallel beams of virtual energy that nearly engulfs Shadic, using Chaos Control at the nick of time.
All neighbouring extraterrestrial life-forms and those who can sense energy from a much greater distance questioned the cause of those strange shockwaves, unaware of the colossal battle between Shadic and Infinite.
The two continue colliding non-stop, yet the planets' remains intact. Tails looks back at his hologram, and theorises the cause of this. "Sonic and Shadow are condensing the impact of their clashes from damaging the nearby planets. But, to do so requires intense energy concentration…something only they can do…"
Shadic charges another Chaos Wind which Infinite counters with his Virtual Eclipse, with the image of their friends, comrades and families flash before the both of them.
When the two attacks hit each other, Infinite has his Virtual Eclipse absorb Shadic's Chaos Wind and combine the two into a massive virtual sun over the planet. "I will admit, this may have been the greatest battle I had ever experienced…to think someone like you too could push me to break through my own limits…but it ends here!"
Shadic positions himself for one last attack to end things, gathering the ring energy from all chosen surrounding life forms and inanimate objects.
Infinite notes the spheres of energy between Shadic's palms emitting singly bolts of electric yellow Chaos Energy, bringing out a smirk from Infinite. "...Yes, bring it! Out of all of my foes, you alone are the strongest! One last stand against…YOUR GOD!"
Shadic's Chaos Windbreaker and Infinite's Collapsing Virtual Annihilation collide at once, with the intensification of their clash felt even on Earth and the other planets. Infinite quickly gains the upper hand, launching additional energy blasts into it, making his move even more powerful and destructive enough to destroy the universe. Even so, Shadic hasn't given up yet and pumps up more power into his attack, keeping their beam struggle at a stalemate.
Realising that Shadic is unable to push back Infinite by himself, Knuckles instinctively flies off much to everyone's surprise. Knuckles goes behind Infinite and hurls dozens of his Thunder Arrows, but nothing happens. Infinite weaves a few one-handed signs to launch his "Phantom Destruction" that knocks him back. He is then caught by Sally, as Silver and Blaze shoot out their respectives beams at Infinite.
The rest of the Resistance onboard on Tails's Blue Typhoon came to help out Shadic, except Dr. Eggman, who stays back. "Those fools! It's no use…we lose…"
Metal Sonic goes out his way to join the Resistance, as only he can be the one to defeat Sonic and no one else. Sage shows her father a holographic recording of what is happening, for Dr, Eggman to see that the Resistance seem to actually cause Infinite enough of a distraction for Shadic to push back. "...is there actually a chance of winning this…"
The ones who can't go Super or have any form of flight are on deck Tails's Blue Typhoon firing its most potent weapon-a large multi-coloured laser, while Knuckles, Blaze, Silver, Sally, Cosmo and Metal Sonic are at the frontlines pushing back against Infinite. They each cheer on Shadic.
Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge and Omega: Hang in there, Sonic/Shadow!
Silver, Sally, Antonie and Bunnie: Sonic! Shadow!
Espio, Vector, Mighty, Surge, Kit: Don't give up, you two!
Jet and Metal Sonic: Tch! You better beat that freak/jackal!
Dr. Eggman still expresses some hesitation, though he ultimately lets go of it because of Sage. "Father, you told me that nothing is impossible as long as you believe firmly in it, right?"
As they struggle to assist Shadic against Infinite, the ones at the frontlines soon find themselves at the mercy of Infinite's power, and they are all forced to fall back crashing into the Blue Typhoon. Just as it looks like Infinite will win, Dr. Eggman in his Eggrobo mech launches his Egg Bomber. The blast distracts Infinite long enough for Shadic to release all of his power into his Chaos Windbreaker.
Everyone exclaims for Shadic to finish it, as the spirits of Elise and Kudou appear behind him and shouts "Now's your chance!"
Shadic screams and let's loose everything, with his Chaos Windbreaker. Try as he might, Infinite is unable to push back the Chaos Windbreaker.
With one final push, Shadic succeeds in winning the beam struggle between him and Infinite. Next chapter will be the last chapter for Sonic New Horizons.
