Chapter seven:
After the whole gaming time Mello and Near are sitting together looking out of a window at the area outside.
"Do you think that one day we could maybe take a drive in a car like others our age?" Mello ponders out loud to Near who doesn't really respond not that it was expected.
"Out of anyone not you two! You'll be here forever! After all you're hanging out with someone who will never be fixed!" Someone shouts causing Mello to turn to them with a glare of rage.
The demons ready to burst out and out the corner of his eye Mello does notice some staff ready to move if he attacks… He doesn't care though… At least until something lands on his shoulder making him turn.
Near has leaned over and is now having his head on Mello's shoulder. He almost looks like he could have fallen over however at least Mello can tell it was purposeful.
Mello feels his demons retreat back inside and he backs off from the looming fight. He ignores all of the shocked looks as he puts an arm around Near's shoulders. He blinks at Matt as the red head sits on the other side of Near actually looking impressed with Mello. The sight of that makes Mello feel quite proud of himself.
Matt smiles at Mello who returns the smile back at the other though softer than the red heads smile. "How about we get out of this spot?" He suggests and Mello nods his head in agreement.
They get up with Mello leading Near to his feet and the three of them leave the room with no one even daring to try to stop them. They head into a more quiet common room where no one is currently.
Matt pauses once they are in there. "Whoa."
Mello blinks in confusion at Matt who stares around in awe as if this isn't just some normal room.
"Mello. Near. Are you seeing this?" Matt stares at empty spots as if something is in fact there. "This room is full of weird looking things!"
Mello glances to Near feeling rather confused though he finds that Near is calm about it. He wonders if this is a part of Matt's whole reason for being here. He looks to Matt finding himself curious about what images Matt's brain produces. "What in the world are you seeing?"
"Come on. You can see them too." Matt turns to blink pleadingly at Mello though his eyes for a moment flicker upwards as if something is towering over the blonde. He continues even though when Mello looks he doesn't see anything. "They are like shadows but different. They have these weird eyes and some even have like animal skulls on their heads!"
Now Mello is really concerned that Matt is having a really bad psychotic break or something. He keeps Near close to himself just in case. "Sure buddy." He decides to go along with it after noticing how much Matt is starting to get a little upset that Mello can't see it.
"Oh God!" Matt suddenly exclaims staring at the window. "Their Leader Is Coming!" He takes a few steps back before turning around and running off elsewhere calling for Mello and Near to run.
Mello watches him go and spots one of the doctors start to chase after Matt calling his name. He turns away with a slight sigh. "Well. I guess now I know what is wrong with him." He leads Near further into the room settling the other down on the comfiest seat in there. "I'm sure he'll be fine." He looks around trying to decide what they should do. He realizes how boring this place can be.
"Am I intruding?"
Mello turns to the entryway spotting Sam. "We were just trying to figure out what we were doing." He admits to her so she walks over to him.
"Well then I have some news that you might like." Sam informs them making Mello tilt his head while Near remains where he is. "We want to try some treatment for you both at the same time." She claps her hands together as if a little excited about this. "It definitely isn't something we do often. Usually reserved for those who went through the same thing together. However, this is a special case. Unlike with Matt who doesn't seem as affected by Near with Near only ever having slightly seemed to react towards him, You have not only managed to get the most responses we've seen from Near but also been able to show how much he has affected your state. We have even seen videos of how bad your state can get. Yet when you're around Near you have more control than you have ever had. So, we would like to see if we can perhaps figure out what is going on as well as maybe find a way to replicate this for the both of you. So you two can also do your own things without forever having to just rely on only each other to help your conditions." She lowers her hands to her sides. "And hopefully if we manage it then you two could even get out of this place if it proves good enough to allow you two to be able to safely interact with the public again. Well more so in your case. What do you say?"
Mello wants to agree as that sounds like a wonderful idea. He pauses however with his smile dropping. He turns to look to Near who doesn't seem to be reacting to any of this. He looks back to Sam after this. "Can you give us a moment? I want to see if it is something that Near wants to do as well."
"Of course. You know the way to the treatment area?" Sam gets a nod from Mello to tell her that he does. "I will wait for the two of you at the entrance there. Take the time you need. Even if the answer is a no just come let me know." She gets another nod so she heads off with that.
Mello goes over to Near sitting down next to him. "So." He glances to the other who slightly tilts his head down almost seeming thoughtful. "What do you want to do? Should we go through with it?"
