A/N: here's another chapter! Enjoy! I'm almost finished writing this fic (I have written up to ch.9 and I'm working on ch.10) so I can't wait to post the chapters!) But please review!
Chapter 6: Why him? Why her?
Hinata didn't let it bother her for long, she didn't want Naruto to regret kissing her. He was hesitant the second time, she didn't want it to be that way. She didn't know what they were doing, friends with benefits? They were friends but they were doing more than kissing in secret. It didn't feel like friends with benefits, not that she knew what that was like.
She still had feelings for Sasuke and he for Sakura. They didn't talk about it, it just happened when they were together, alone.
Naruto had her on his lap, they were at the Ramen shop again, it was mid Saturday. He was in full control, with his hands on her hips he rocked her into him showing her what to do.
He kissed her neck and felt her up, from her ass, to her boobs. Running his hands over her curves, on her thighs, threw her hair. But they never went that far. Not yet? Would they? She didn't have a clue, all she knew is she didn't want to stop what they were doing.
After the first time when they met they acted like nothing happened. Then he apologized for running off on her before leaning in for a kiss.
It help, she became more confident, bold, with Sasuke. They had a whole conversation about why they hated mint chocolate among other things the other day. She wanted too ask him out, she build up the courage to do it. But she freaked out and asked everyone to go together. Tenten helped her out by saying the group should hang out and they made a day. It was still progress? She'd never asked him something so bold before.
Tenten also stuck her nose where it didn't belong and invited Naruto. So here they were at the Ramen shop having a little meeting of their own before they met the others.
Naruto decided to be bold today, he raised her hoodie up kissing her bare chest. "You should show your body off, your body is banging." Naruto kissed the top of her boobs that weren't covered by her bra.
"Nah less attention the better, especially for Neji sake, he'd have to kick some ass in my honour." She smiled brushing his hair backwards while watching him lower his head to kiss her ribcage.
She felt wetness against her skin. Naruto was leaving a hickey on her. She blushed, she obviously never had one before. When he was done he sucked another spot marking her. The feeling of his tongue and lips on her sent tingles to her toes.
Her phone buzzed on the table. "Uh it's Tenten, she and Neji just arrived, Gaara is there too. We should get going." She was about to climb off him. He held her in place.
"One more." He puckered his lips looking silly but she leaned in kissing him, he didn't let go so she kissed him again. And again and again until his phone buzzed.
"It's Gaara asking if I'd be there." He let her go with a pout.
...
Hinata left first, they decided to not show up together so questions wouldn't be asked.
Suigetsu and Jugo had join while she was on her way. They were just waiting for Sasuke now.
It didn't take long before his motorcycle was heard. Hinata felt like everything were in slow motion as Sasuke came off his bike. The way his hair blew in the wind when he took his helmet off. He was a dream.
She had to pretend like she didn't notice Naruto arriving and meeting everyone. She'd notice him right away.
Tenten jabbed her in her side to get her attention, she subtly gestured towards the blonde. He winked at her, she just waved before turning back to Sasuke. She didn't want Neji noticing anything between them. She knew if she looked at Naruto she'd probably give herself away.
Naruto scoffed not realizing what she was doing.
They went to a nearby fair. Naruto frowned, on more than one occasion he asked Hinata to go on a ride with him only to be turned down. She went with Sasuke instead. Was she the same girl that he had all over him this morning?
Hinata didn't want to be in close proximity to Naruto. She'd gotten to comfortably touching him, she was afraid of doing so in front of everyone. She realized Naruto was a bit upset about it but didn't ponder on that too much. He'd get over it. Plus she wanted to be with Sasuke a little bit, it was the whole point of this planned event.
"NOOOO NO FUCKING WAY!" Suigetsu protested loudly drawing some attention to their group. He'd lost a bet against Jugo. He had to ride the big roller-coaster ride.
"Bets a bet and you lost." Jugo crackled.
"I'd give a hundred to anyone who'd go with me." Suigetsu asked no one in particular. Jugo and Gaara jumped at the chance of making money. Hinata laughed expecting Sasuke to go too. He liked doing those kind of things.
But he was busy on the phone. She frowned, thinking about it, he seemed pretty occupied with his phone since they got there.
She hugged herself, it didn't matter what she did he never paid her full attention. Naruto came to stand next to her. "Let's go on the bumper cars together?"
"Yes that one sounds fun." Tenten pulled on Neji sleeve at the idea. Tenten didn't know what exactly was going on between Naruto and Hinata. But she knew something was going on. She'd make it clear she was in team Naruto. She wanted Hinata to forget about Sasuke.
"You guys go on, I'd be back in a second." Sasuke walked away still on the phone. He'd just answered a call, he smiled and laughed to whoever he was talking to.
"Sure." Hinata sadly said. She'd overheard his conversation with Suigetsu earlier. Sasuke had invited a girl to come along with them. Apparently that's why he was late, she heard him saying 'she isn't ready to meet everyone yet'. Who was the 'she'?
Naruto hoped fighting with her cousin in bumper cars would cheer her up but it didn't. She laughed and grabbed his arm during the ride like a little kid. But as they got off she got quiet again looking around for Sasuke.
He was no where to be found.
Suigetsu ran pass them to a bin and puked. Gaara was filming him with a evil grin.
Juga tucked his hundred dollars away in his wallet. "Let's do something a little easier for Suigetsu sake."
"Let's go on the Ferris wheel!" Tenten grips Neji arm as she said this. They all unintentionally looked up at the large ride brightly shining with colourful lights on it.
"I agree sounds OK." Suigetsu held his stomach making the other guys laugh at him.
"Sure why not." Sasuke came up to them with a cigarette in his mouth. Hinata stared at him, she wanted him to look at her once. Just one look and he'd see what she felt, at least she hopes for that. But he never looked at her, not one glance.
Hinata thought long and hard on who she should go with. She wanted to go with Sasuke but she was upset with him. Not that he knew or cared. She wanted to go with Naruto but she didn't want anyone questioning them.
Tenten shoved Gaara and Suigetsu in a seat to Gaara dismay, he was afraid Suigetsu would puke on him. She then shoved Sasuke and Jugo in another. Hinata knew what she was doing.
Of course she and Neji went in another so that only left her and Naruto.
He seemed happy about this. They both sat in their seats together. The sky was dark with few stars. They weren't at the top yet, but the view made her eyes dazzled at how pretty everything looked. Naruto pulled out his phone gripping it carefully.
They both look at the screen and he took the picture saying 'Ramen'.
"Why Sasuke, you're both so different." He suddenly asked. Hinata was caught of guard with his question. In that moment she didn't really want to talk about him. She also didn't want Naruto to see how upset she was over him.
"Uh he's more than what everyone think of him." She fiddled with her fingers feeling a bit shy. Why did she have to talk to the boy she was kissing about the boy she liked.
"As in?" Naruto pushed wanting her to explain more. He didn't want to hear it but he needed to know why.
"He..." She remember that time they met after school with a sad smile. "I stayed back after school in freshman year for a project. I didn't realize how late it was and everyone had gone home. I was walking to the bus stop when this guy started following me, I was freaked out."
She paused taking a deep breath fighting back her tears. "I'm pretty sure he was going to...rape me. But Sasuke passed and saw. He chased the guy away."
Hinata looked down at all the lights of the fair below them. "He offered to take me home. I was so shaken up. He noticed and took me to a convenient store and bought me food. He talked to me and calmed me down."
She looked at Naruto, he sat there quietly listening. "He spent that time making sure I was OK before taking me home. The day after he checked in on me. Since then he sort of looked out for me. I don't know. He act all tough and gets into fights but he's a nice, sweet guy." Hinata tucked her hair behind her ear.
She's never told anyone that story before. Not even Tenten. She didn't like to think what could've happened if Sasuke didn't help. It was another reason she dressed the way she did, not that I really matter. She'd had nightmares after that an had to sleep with her little sister for some time.
Naruto was still silent. She looked at him.
"Plus it's cliché in a way, me the girl that takes precautions and is known as a goodie two shoes and him the bad boy that promises danger. It feels like it should be. But that's just wishful thinking." Hinata looked out into the open space in front of them. She shivered and rubbed her arms.
Below they could hear Gaara yelling at Suigetsu to hold it in. But the way Suigetsu were laughing they knew he was teasing the red head boy. They could even hear Tenten screaming and laughing a bit.
Hinata bit her lips, Naruto still hadn't said anything. She wanted to read his mind, she needed to know what he was thinking. But she was also scared to know or ask.
"What about you? Why Sakura?" Hinata asked, it was only fair to ask him the same question. Naruto took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry what happened to you. It should've never happened in the first place." She'd only now realized how tight his fist were. His jaw seemed tense. He was angry at what she'd been through. "I'm glad Sasuke was there...we didn't know each other then...but." He looked of to his side not letting her see his face.
Hinata scooted closer to him, she rest her hand on his thigh and squeezed it. "It didn't happen ok, I'm fine, I'm fine now." She took his chin in her fingers and turned his head to her. "Look at me Naruto, I'm fine." She smiled to him trying to calm him down.
He kissed her. Cupping her face he kept his lips pressed to hers for a moment longer.
It felt different, from the desperate, needy, hot make out sessions they had. It was gentle, soft, reassuring. Something about it made her feel safe.
Pulling way he gently caresses her cheek then kissed the top of her head.
Hinata grabbed his hand and grin. "Tell me, you're not getting a way from the question." She sing song trying to lighten the mood.
"Hm, just like you I think the class clown and pretty, popular girl belong together." He made quotations when he said 'class clown'. He didn't like the label. While he wasn't as bothered by it, he didn't like not being taken seriously at times.
"That can't be all." Hinata hugged his arm resting her chin on his shoulder she looked straight at his face biting her lip.
"She was there for me too. I had a hard time when my God father passed away, she was there for me. I just kind of fell for her in that time." Hinata pressed her cheek into his shoulder now. She didn't know about this. "No one knew what a hard time I was going through but she did and she was by my side the entire time." He remembered how she'd held him and let him cry his heart out.
"I'm sorry for your lost Naruto." She whispered. He didn't say anything as they got closer to the ground where they'd have to get off. One by one every one got off. Hinata made distance between herself and Naruto before their friends saw them.
"I swear it felt like I'd barf again." Suigetsu grin evilly at Gaara who shook his fist at the boy.
"It was soo pretty though, I want to go again." Tenten begged Neji.
"Fine one more." Neji agreed getting back on. "We'd meet up after." He called out to the rest of them.
"I'm going to the bathroom." Jugo left them with Suigetsu on his tail.
Gaara, Sasuke, Naruto and Hinata walked around the small stalls for the time being.
"Oh that's really cute." Hinata murmured more to herself looking at one of the stuff animal prize.
"I'd get if for you." Naruto paid the man, taking the gun he shoot at the moving plastic ducks. He got one but missed the other three shots.
"Let me." Sasuke took the gun, he got three but missed one. The man gave him a key chain for almost getting it. Naruto glared at him.
Gaara was about to try but Naruto grabbed the gun. His icy eyes gave Sasuke a look before shooting three as well.
Gaara made another attempt but this time Sasuke grabbed the gun. He threw his hands up in the air giving up.
"Hinata." Sasuke called out her name, she looks at him with doe eyes. "Count for me?" He winked at her, she blushed. He then smirked at Naruto wickedly. He was purposely getting under the blondes skin.
"One." Hinata raised her index finger mid-air. "Two." She counted. "Three! Almost there." She cheered loudly when he shot the forth one down. The man handed Sasuke the cute puppy teddy. Sasuke gave it to her, she thanked him and hugged it. It was bigger than her head.
Naruto scoffed rolling his eyes. Sasuke was taunting him, with every cocky look and gesture it boiled the blondes blood.
Hinata stared when Sasuke went another round winning another stuff animal. He took the pink kitty this time. He kept that one to himself. She knew it was for another girl. The mystery girl that was supposed to meet him. Why would Sasuke want that if it wasn't for someone else?
Naruto was determined to win her something tonight. He tried different games and lost them all. Meanwhile Sasuke kept winning, he hated this.
Sasuke won all his friends prizes, Hinata felt less special, especially when he gave Tenten the same exact stuff animal.
"Do you like that one?" Naruto asked for the hundredth time. She nod not wanting to talk, she didn't want to take out her irritation on him.
"Give it up man." Gaara clapped his back getting tired of the rivalry going on between Sasuke and Naruto.
"No let him I love watching him fail." Suigetsu snickered, this was entertainment for him. He was glad the attention was off him now.
"I believe in you Naruto." Tenten cheered, ignoring the way Neji looked at her.
Naruto tossed one ring getting it perfectly, he tossed another in. Everyone watched silently, it felt like they were looking at their favourite sports team. Naruto just needed one more to get that specific prize.
Sweating slightly he focused and carefully tossed the ring. It went in. "I did it." He shocked himself.
"YOU DID IT!" Tenten rejoiced loudly jumping onto Neji.
"Well I'll be darn. He defeated the boss level to get the main prize." Suigetsu joked.
"That'll be fifty." Neji told Jugo who paid up. Neji knew the blonde would win. And if he bet against him, his girlfriend would have his head.
Naruto took the large nine tail fox from the man and gave to Hinata. She took it but struggled to hold it. He took it back from her helping her carry it.
"Thank you Naruto." She smiled cutely at him. Naruto had to remind himself that their friends were there because he wanted to kiss her.
