-Sieg POV-
I left Chloe's parents to settle things with their daughter while I entered the RV to make some breakfast.
Looking at foodstock, I frowned upon realizing that my inventory was nearly exhausted. Food seems to be disappearing faster than expected…
Well, It couldn't be helped considering I had promised my Pokemon a feast.
Thank god that Drasil was a moderate eater compared to my starter. Even Regina was notoriously disgusted seeing how much my Haxorus was eating. It nearly caused her to pummel him with Hydro Pump if I didn't intervene and quell her temper.
Last time I failed to do so, I had to turn the whole RV inside out to clean it. Regina's temperament could be a problem sometimes, if I left her unsupervised. Fortunately Aria was there to scold her. She was one of the few who could keep Regina in check.
Mama Mia, my family can be quite a handful sometimes.
"Hmmm, I don't have much ingredients left, so let's settle with a classic breakfast with a twist." I mused while immediately taking eggs, green onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and instant noodles.
First, boil the noodles for a few minutes. Then, while letting it cook, prepare the eggs and mix it with the instant noodles' seasoning, salt, and pepper. Also, cut the green onions into smaller pieces for more flavor. Next step, set the cooking pan on high heat with some oil . Add the seasoned eggs then cook it to a golden brown. When the noodles are properly cooked, stir it in with the seasoned eggs and the green onions.
While cooking the omelet, I cook the sausages and bacon in a separate pan.
Lastly, don't forget to toast some bread and prepare some veggies for a balanced diet.
It took me several minutes, but I am quite satisfied with my dishes, considering I just made it with whatever leftovers I had.
"Scep…"
I smiled at the newcomer who immediately took the tray of food for me. Drasil was always more attentive, being on standby from the moment he noticed I was cooking.
"Thanks buddy." He replied with a quick salute then took the tray with fluid motion to the dining table outside.
When I walked outside, I was greeted by a despondent Chloe who was sending me a dirty look.
I smiled while giving her a gentle pat on her shoulder. "Seems like you talked a bit with your parents."
"... I hate you for telling them." Chloe just openly glared at me, as she used her index finger to stab my ribs, much to my own amusement. "Now I have to find someone who will accompany me on my journey. No thanks to you, blabbermouth…"
I shook my head while giving her a headpat, much to her annoyance. Though she didn't make any attempt to swipe my head, she did give me the cold shoulder. "Listen, Chloe. While you may not like getting chewed by your parents, it's still an adult's responsibility to inform them as they deserve to know about their daughter's condition."
Chloe glared at me, but soon she was deterred while letting her shoulders sag in begrudging acceptance.
"I know," She replied, albeit weakly. "But it still stings when both of them get mad like that…"
I nodded at her response. It was reasonable considering her situation. And having her parents practically scolding her after her near-death situation was not really helping her mood.
"Look, let's just eat first and I'll help you talk with them after this. Consider this as my apology for tattling." I said while trying to persuade her to improve her mood.
Fortunately, Chloe was quick to agree while walking away from me to the dining table. Anything to get it over with, I suppose.
Meanwhile on the other side, I saw Parker who was currently helping Drasil to put the dishes to the table, while Ray was currently preoccupied with Drakeon strutting alongside his wife.
"Marvelous! Simply Marvelous!" Ray beamed in amazement while inspecting Drakeon who looked at him smugly, as if he thought the older man was constantly praising him. Besides her husband, Talia was currently scribing notes furiously though I could see her a bit struggling to keep up with Ray's pace.
Though said man is currently busy gushing over Drakeon. At least he wasn't drooling-no, wait, he was…
The moment he saw me, Ray immediately leapt forward and dragged me with both hands on my shoulders with a strength beyond his age. "Sieg! Please tell me, is this marvelous specimen of Pokemon a part of Eevee's evolution line? And is he also a Dragon-type?"
"Not bad for guessing Drakeon's pre-eeveelution line correctly," I said while looking at him with an amused expression.
"Eeveelution…?" Ray asked in confusion. "You mean it's like a term of evolution which is specifically used on the Eevee evolution group? If that's what you mean then I must say it's an interesting term! An apt word combination using both 'Eevee' and 'evolution' to form the terminology! We must let the science community know about it! It would save me some words writing out reports on the Eevees! May I request permission to use it from now on?"
I chuckled at his reaction. "Uh, sure. Knock yourself out. I've been using it as a shortcut for Eevee denominations anyway so it's nothing special."
"Ah, but it is! If the postulation of your terminology can be applied to other pokemon genus lines, then there could be a pattern we could extrapolate for further studies! My colleagues' reports often get so dry at times so using words like these would make them laugh! Especially that old Oak, he often slept during our meetings because there's nothing new about research progress!"
To think this man is previously scolding her daughter with a stern tone could instantly switch his demeanor like this. Then again, his reaction was perfectly understandable given I hardly revealed Drakeon to any Pokemon professor.
Until now, I guess.
"About your Drakeon. Would you mind telling me more about it?"
"Maybe sometime later, Ray." I shook my head while pointing at the table where the others were already taking their seats for breakfast made by myself earlier. "Let's grab something to eat first."
A look of understanding crossed on Ray's face as he smiled sheepishly at my offer. "Ah, yes. My apologies. I would like to take your offer."
Both of us took our way to the table, where Wrym was also following along. Since I haven't prepared my Pokemon's food yet, I quickly jumped on the Van to grab some Pokeblocks which I saved in the storage. Since I made a big supper last night, none of my Pokemon even bothered to come out to eat or expressed any interest to greet my visitors.
Dragons and their laziness when they already had their fill, sheesh.
I came out from the Van while bringing Drakeon and Drasil's bowl filled with Pokeblocks, which both were already well-prepared in front of the Van's door as they diligently waited for me.
Giving their portion on the dining table, I watched how both of my Pokemon ate in different types of manners. Wyrm was a typical messy eater. He likes to immediately dig into his food with gusto, eating while his cheek is full causing his face to often be covered by crumbs. On the other hand, Drasil is what I would like to describe as having a table manner akin to a high-profiled person. He ate slowly while taking a few bites from his pokeblocks, chewing slowly while carefully tasting each of the smallest bites. He even wore a napkin which he used to wipe his mouth after a few bites.
His refined manner even got a couple of looks from the Cerise's family, with Talia and Ray being thoroughly impressed seeing how Drasil ate his food.
"Sieg," I looked at Ray who sat beside me. "How is it doing that?"
"What do you mean?"
Ray quite intently ogled Drasil, so much so that the guy's subtle side-eye was met with the Professor's not so subtle observation. Drasil was giving the professor a side glance, a bit amused by the man's behavior instead of offended as he nibbled on his meal. "Intriguing, for a non-humanoid pokemon to adopt table manners so perfectly… Did you perhaps train him to act in the same manner as people do?"
I chuckled hearing the older man's question. "Not really, it's something that Drasil picked naturally by mimicking it from the movies that we often watched in RV.
"Nurtured behavior through observations of the media and television. I see. Very interesting. Perhaps, if it was motivated to do so to keep clean, other pokemon could do the same. Do you find that he observes your mannerisms often? Or have you ever reprimanded him on cleanliness in the past?"
I rubbed my chin in thought, trying to remember any of Drasil's past behavior. "Hm... Probably? Drasil has always been a keen observer, not just of me but of other' behavior as well. Always being a curious one. He was a head-strong Pokemon back when he was wild. He actually decided to follow me after I helped out his colony in Petalburg forest from being captured by Poachers.
Ray nodded while displaying an intrigued face. "Interesting… I bet that other professors would express their interest in studying your Drasil if they ever met you."
"Perhaps, but maybe one day. Considering my job, I never often stayed in one place for a long time." I replied to Ray, which he nodded in understanding. "Besides, I think your wife has something to say if you look at her expression to your daughter."
True to my analysis, after the breakfast was done, Talia immediately brought out the topic which we discussed before during our trip to my Van.
"I would like you to accompany my daughter."
"Dear, are we really going to do this?"
"What?"
"Mama?!"
Ray's, mine, and Chloe's reactions synced up with equal amounts of confusion. I myself chose to remain silent while letting her talk. Since it was Talia's idea about having me to accompany Chloe in her journey, I reserve the right to hear her out first.
… Though, why was the kid flushing like that while sneaking glances at me? Was the food not to her liking?
Talia took my silence as permission to continue speaking. "Chloe, we've talked about this. Last time during the incident with those gangsters, you didn't exactly tell us about the real incident. Not to mention about your wandering alone out in the middle of night in the Viridian forest without bringing so much as a Repel Spray. Had Scyther not been with you, you might already have lost an arm or even a leg for doing such a thing!"
"Mama!" I looked at Chloe who immediately rebutted her mother. "I already apologized for not telling you the truth. I didn't want to make you guys worried! And don't talk about Scyther like that, he wasn't going to hurt me. He was dying when I found him!"
"Yes, I know, Chloe. But you're being stubborn about the amount of danger that almost befalls you." Talia replied with a calmer tone, as if trying to not show something unsightly in front of me, if I had to guess. "As your mother, even if you apologize, there's no way I can'tnot worry for you."
Point to mother over there. Parental worries weren't something anyone could argue against. Chloe wasn't able to refute it either. She fell silent just as her mother did.
Gotta give credit to Scyther too though. He thoroughly behaved in the midst of this dramatic discussion. Never once showed any sort of aggression or hostile behavior, especially during the most heated part of the mother-daughter exchange. Drasil kept an eye over him just in case he reacted in Chloe's defense though.
Seeing that Chloe didn't immediately reply to her mother and choosing to be silent, I decided to add my thoughts in this discussion. "To be honest Talia, while I understand what Chloe did was reckless, I don't really see the benefit of accompanying her for me. No offense about that, but you need to understand that I also have a job to do. And by accompanying Chloe, it means that she will often be involved with my job as well."
"And what is your job, Mr. Sieg?" Asked Parker in curiosity.
"Ruin-delving." Their expressions shifted a bit at that, likely being aware of the dangers that job entails. "I'll be honest, while I would keep an eye on her, I'm not so certain I can teach her a lot with my job."
"Y-yeah, he's right mama. I-I mean it would be a bit of b-bother for Mr. Sieg here if he had to accompany me in m-my journey…" Clearing her throat, the girl seemed to second guess her words. "Not that I think badly of Mr. Sieg. Just… just…"
"On the contrary," the professor interrupted. "You can learn quite a good deal. Consider the myriad of members in Mister Sieg's draconian menagerie and how intelligent most of them are-"
A growl rumbled behind the professor, but Drasil continued to eat while a certain blue dragon's gaze who was stationed not far from them loomed his way.
"I mean… all of them." Ray corrected himself, much to Sapphire's grunt of approval. Wyrm just kept munching without a care in the world. "Think about it, Chloe. Now that you're a trainer, this could be your chance to see a real trainer in action. Didn't you once say you wanted to explore the world?"
"N-no! I-I never said something like that… I-I mean! I did say that, but I could do it by my own instead of bothering Mr. Sieg like this…!" Chloe denied it while looking away, though I caught her stealing a glance on me. She also did some weird movements towards her father in panic.
"Sis, when did you turn into a voltorb?" Parker said, food stuffing his cheeks as he pointed out his sister's heated flush, only then for Talia to slap his head. "Ow! Mom?"
"Don't talk with your mouth full, Parker. It's impolite, especially since Sieg is cooking that for us." chastised Talia while using a napkin to wipe her son's mouth.
I inwardly chuckled seeing the interactions of this family. It felt nice seeing them chatting and bantering with a warm atmosphere instead of being distant to each other like those prosperous families I've met. No matter how deep their pockets are, money can't buy this kind of comforting familial warmth.
Seeing the interactions of this family, I inwardly chuckled. It felt nice seeing them chatting and bantering with a warm atmosphere instead of being distant to each other like the families of those rich buyers I pawn my finds to. No matter how deep their pockets are, money can't buy this kind of comforting familial warmth.
Man, just seeing Chloe and Parker arguing like this is so wholesome. Leagues better than those pests my buyers "reared" as children. God, I still remember the first fossil a brat broke and the stuffy face of the father who refused to pay for my loss.
On that note, I have to confirm something before I even consider taking her in as her mother asks.
"Chloe."
"Y-yes, Mr. Sieg?!"
"First of all, I have to say that I have never once taught someone to be a Pokemon trainer. Adding the fact about my job, I'll have to inform you that I might take this matter into consideration whether I should take you under my wing or not." I informed her with a serious tone.
Hearing that, Chloe nodded like a kicked puppy. Her eyes were moist with tears who threatened to flow out, while her parents were looking at us with worried expressions.
"That's why," I added, which made the younger girl in front of me quickly raise her head. "I will have to test you."
Chloe's eyes widened, as few tears flowed out on her check which she quickly wiped with a renewed vigor. "T-test me, sir?"
"Yes, a test. If you perform well, I will agree to take you under my wing as my student." I replied while standing from my seat. My Pokemon quickly reacted by following my stead, as Drasil and Wyrm were both leaving their unfinished breakfast like trained soldiers. The heavy steps from afar indicated that Sapphire also followed suit.
I watched how Chloe quickly grew nervous, especially during the moment where she got a bit too close with Sapphire. Though on the other hand, her Scyther were staring directly at Drasil, who're giving the Mantis Pokemon a side glance smirk.
"M-mr. Sieg," Chloe called while quickly approaching me with an anxious expression plastered on her face. "I-I am not going to face one of y-your pokemon right?"
"Yes, you will." I replied back, which made Chloe look aghast at my answer.
Her fear was validated considering how she often nervously glanced at the looming figure of Sapphire at the distance. The said dragon was simply waiting patiently with her eyes loomed at the Scyther, who stood firm in his place, awaiting his future opponent.
"But," I quickly added while taking another pokeball from my waist, which stirred various reactions from my Pokemon who were on standby, as they looked disappointed for not being picked by me.
But that expression soon disappeared when they soon realized who I picked for this match. Wyrm was staring at me with aghast expression as he quickly hid behind Sapphire while the bigger Pokemon just looked away while letting out a low growl from her nostril. Drasil in particular was quick to approach Scyther as the green lizard then gave the Bug Pokemon a few pats on his shoulder, much to Scyther's confusion.
"Come on out, Aria." I called while throwing the Pokeball into the air, releasing the Pokemon within.
It was a blue avian Pokemon with her body and wings were covered in white feathers, with two long plumes extended from its head. She also had a short beak, beady black eyes, and white cheek patches. Additionally, she had short legs and long tails protruding from her fluffy body.
Aria let out a loud chirp while spreading her wings, causing Chloe and her family to react animatedly for her adorable appearance.
"Oh my, an Altaria!"
"It's so cute~!"
"The cotton feathers are in healthy color, signifying that it is being properly taken care of!"
I stole a glance towards Wyrm who was still hiding himself behind Sapphire in fright upon seeing Aria being released from her Pokeball, while Sapphire decided she doesn't want to deal with this by simply lying down in the ground. Meanwhile the blue Avian herself is currently enjoying every single attention given to her, chirping loudly while spreading her feather wings to greet my guests.
From afar, I saw Scyther looked at Aria then pointed at her using his scythe arms while looking back at Drasil with a confused look, as Drasil simply raised his shoulder at the bewildered Pokemon while letting out a few growls, as both then exchanged grunting and growls in an animalistic conversation.
"Aria," I called my Pokemon, having decided that she had enough fun getting petted by Chloe and her family. My Pokemon turned her attention back to me while tilting her head in a questionable stare. "This is Chloe, and I'm gonna test her and her Pokemon in a sparring match."
"Alta~?"
"Remember about the incident which I told you about before? Chloe here is that girl, and her family wanted me to take her under my wing since they're worried about another incident ever happening again." I explained to her. This made Aria's eyes lit up as she immediately dropped her playful demeanor while approaching Chloe with curiosity plastered on her face.
Chloe looked at Aria as the bird Pokemon were circling her, as if checking her from every angle, much to her confusion along with Ray who was intrigued by Aria's unusual behavior. Though it doesn't take long for Aria to finally stop circling Chloe, while happily chirping back at me while using her wings to perform a few gestures towards me.
"Her Pokemon?" I asked my Pokemon, to which she nodded in affirmation. I then pointed at the direction where Scyther and Drasil stood, as they were currently engaging in a conversation. "He's over there, talking with Drasil."
Looking at the direction I pointed, Aria then made a series of chirping which directed towards Drasil.
"Taria~! Alta~!"
Hearing her cries, Drasil merely sighed while gesturing to Scyther to go to his trainer, which he nodded in a serious manner. The mantis Pokemon took a few leaps before arriving at his trainer's side, and greeted Aria with a respectful tone.
Aria greeted him back in delightful cries, then gesturing Scyther to the spacious area which was big enough for both pokemon to use as a sparring location.
Seeing this, Chloe hesitantly glanced at me. "A-are we really doing this?"
I nodded in affirmation. "By the way, you should follow your Pokemon. He's waiting for you there."
"A-ah! Okay!" replied a nervous Chloe as she quickly dashed forward to her awaiting Pokemon.
"I will be the judge for this match!" Said Ray loudly as he also quickly followed his daughter, much to my amusement.
It didn't take long until I was in the position with Aria on my side. Across the field, stood an agitated Chloe who kept fidgeting every time her eyes met mine, which contrasted with how Scyther stood with a serious expression, with his eyes fully focused on Aria who looked completely at ease, cheerfully waving at her opponent.
"Alright, for this spar, I will have to set up restrictions. For safety." I began to explain while Aria cooed in acknowledgment, showing that the restriction term doesn't bother her at all which was likely due to her already guessing Scyther's current strength. "For Aria, she will use only up to three moves during this fight."
"O-only three moves?!" Chloe exclaimed with astonished expression. Not just her, but the rest of her family were also looking at me dubiously at my declaration. "Mr. Sieg, I may just be a graduate, but are you sure about facing me with just three?"
I smiled in confidence at her doubtfulness, nodding in affirmation much to her half-baked acceptance.
"I-if you say so… Scyther, get ready!" Chloe begrudgingly accepted my term while immediately focused to prepare for the Pokemon Battle, while her starter responded with a fierce bellow. It seemed Scyther was being more cautious, which probably contributed from his brief conversation with Drasil much to my approval.
"Alright then," Seeing that both of us were ready, Ray then announced his verdict as the judge in this fight. "Without further ado, Battle starts!"
"Scyther, use a Quick Attack at Alta—Aria!" Chloe took the first command as Scyther's body enveloped by a whitish energy, brandishing his scythe-arms while moving towards Aria with high speed.
Well, at least probably for them, because unfortunately, Scyther hasn't yet reached the speed that all of my Pokemon are used to.
"Wait until he gets close, then glide on the right, immediately test with multiple strikes. Moderate your power." I added on my commands for my darling Altaria, much to Chloe's confusion.
"What kind of order are—Huh!?" But before she could even ask what I meant, her eyes widened when Aria suddenly blurred from the moment before Scyther's arm could even reach her to then appear from the right side. One of Aria's wings glowed white as she rammed it towards Scyther's unprotected side. She doesn't stop there, her other wing immediately following up to hammer in the poor Pokemon in a series of rapid strikes.
It may be wings that resembled clouds, but to Scyther, they might as well be sledgehammers.
"Scy—!" The Bug Pokemon cried in pain while quickly raising both of his arms to defend himself.
"Scyther, no!" Cried Chloe in trepidation, but I immediately scolded her from a distance.
"Yelling won't help. If you don't tell him how to avoid it, then the fight will be over soon!"
This snapped Chloe from her panicked state, as she frantically ordered Scyther in desperation. "Use Leer! And immediately take a step back to get some distance!"
Hearing the command, Scyther's eyes immediately glowed in a threatening manner, which stunned Aria for a brief moment as she gave a look of confusion. Of all the abilities Scyther could use to counter, Leer was the amusing one. Considering that I knew it barely affected Aria, her choosing to play along with it made me question just how far she'd take this game seriously.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw Drasil smirked while placing his favorite twig back on his mouth. Sapphire let out a snort from her nostril, showing her displeasure over what Aria did though.
Between the two of them, only one was of the mind that the farce of a fight should be ended quickly.
Seeing an 'opening', however, Chloe immediately took it. "Scyther, use Wing Attack! Aim for her abdomen!"
"Disarm him." I countermanded. Immediately, Aria let out a pinkish soundwave in a loud shrieking voice right in Scyther's face before it could properly build energy around his wings. It sent the bug Pokemon's movements into disarray as he fell to his knees much to Chloe's dismay and frustration.
"Scyther! Use Leer once again!" Chloe tried the same tactics, but Aria reacted faster even without my command. She dived forward in a quick motion, then immediately rained Scyther's immobile body with a simple but definitively decisive thrust attack using her beak.
Aria used Peck. It was super effective, as shown by how much Scyther writhed in pain from a tiny beak bashing. Although, calling it tiny might be an understatement, considering the power and weight behind Aria's attacks, no matter how moderated, was far too painful on a type weak against it.
Despite the fact that I told Aria to control her strength, it's still too much for Scyther, as he finally fainted with a loud thud.
Despite the fact that I told Aria to control her strength, it's still too much for Scyther, as he finally fainted with a loud thud.
"Scyther is unable to battle, the winner is Altaria!"
The moment Ray finished announcing the result, Chloe immediately ran to check her injured Pokemon. Scyther weakly replied to his trainer with visible disappointment on his face, as Chloe simply shook her head, seemingly praising him for his effort.
I then approached Chloe who decided to return Scyther back to his pokeball after comforting him, with Scyther faintly smiling before disappearing in a flash of red.
Her eyes were already moist with tears, but she forced herself to smile when she realized I was approaching her. "I-it's okay... Mr. Sieg is experienced after all, so it's fair that I-I lost… I don't want to be a b-burden to you…"
Damn, I now felt bad considering she cried almost on every occasion in my presence.
In the distance, Talia was about to comfort her daughter, but Ray stepped forward to stopping his wife, much to her protest. He gave me a meaningful look while trying his best to calm Talia who already started throwing some tantrums.
"Look Chloe," I began while using my fingers to wipe her cheek which caused her to squirm, but she didn't immediately slap my hand away. "The reason for this fight is not to win against me, no matter how you tried considering you're just freshly graduated. Rather, it was how you reacted when facing an immovable wall in the wilds."
Chloe fervently listened to every part of my explanation, as her eyes slowly brightened.
"Another reason why I tested you is to see your character as a trainer. Skills can be trained. Talents can be honed. But the heart? The love, care, and respect a trainer has for their partners is something I personally believe to be more important. After all, only the closest of friends can overcome the worst of adversities." I finished explaining.
Then I heard a distant clapping sound, as my eyes roamed on Ray who was clapping with a big smile on his face, which was followed by Talia and Parker. On the corner, Drasil was giving an expectant smile on his face, while Sapphire was snorted with a grin, showing rows of sharp teeths in process.
"T-then in that case, I—"
"Alright, your assessment was satisfactory enough. So I am okay by taking you under my wing—."
—My words were cut short as Chloe suddenly leapt forward and wrapped her arms around my back with a loud sob, crying fervently while burying her head on my chest. Of course this immediately drew some reaction, especially from both parents. While Talia are currently cooed in high pitched voice, it couldn't be same with Ray, as he was directly giving me a stare
I gulped in awkward laughter, all while Chloe is still crying in my chest, wetting my T-shirt.
The laughter echoed from Drasil wasn't helping at all, as he clearly enjoyed my misfortune. Sapphire just gave me a stare with her onyx eyes. Though she quickly cowered when she saw Aria was giving her a meaningful smile which caused the blue dragon to shudder in trepidation.
The said bird Pokemon then crooned in excitement, as if she had given her approval.
'I didn't sign up for this shit, goddamnit...'

-Omake-
"Mom! I am a grown man now!" I cried in protest as I watched her checking every single of my belongings. "I don't need to be told to alway change my underwear!"
My mom just snorted as she pinched my cheek, much to my chagrin. "Silly Ash, you'll always be my little baby."
I pouted at my mom but didn't do anything to refute her, much to her glee.
Considering today was the last day, I decided to just let do whatever she wanted.
It was finally the day for me to leave my town to start my journey as a Pokemon Trainer.
I've been waiting for years for this moment, but that doesn't let me forget that I will be leaving my mother alone, considering she raised me mostly by herself.
"Alright, I think I already teasing you long enough," My mom said while stopping pinching my cheek, as she then affectionately stroked my hair. "My little boy is gonna start his journey, so I need to properly send him away. Don't forget to call me every week, okay?"
I smiled widely in response. "You got it mom! Watch me, as I will become the Pokemon Master and make you proud!"
"I know you will," replied my mom while smiling back at me. "Now go and don't make your friend waiting for you any longer."
"Ah, dang! You're right! I am going now, mom!" I said while grabbing everything I needed for my first-ever journey.
"Be careful on your journey son, and don't forget about your lunch." My mom said as she took off her apron while bringing a bright yellow lunch box wrapped in a handkerchief.
"Got it mom! I'm gonna go now, bye!" I nodded, taking my lunch as I quickly dashed forward, leaving my house while waving back at her.
This is it. This is the day that I've been waiting for. The day where I finally left my home to chase my dream to become a Pokemon Master. My heart was beating loudly, as a big smile plastered on my face, so much that I could feel my cheek getting numb from being stretched far.
Arriving at the edge of Pallet Town, I quickly scanned my surroundings. Searching for another person who was supposed to joined together in our journey, as how we promised before.
"You're late ash!"
Though it wasn't needed for me to wait a little longer as the person herself approached me upon seeing my figure. She was wearing a red T-shirt with white short sleeves, alongside with a black tight pants. Her golden brown hair, partially covered by a red hat, flowed freely alongside the breeze. "I was in here for nearly thirty minutes!"

I smiled apologetically at her fuming expression. "Sorry about that, I've been talking a bit with my mom."
Her blue eyes softened upon hearing my explanation. "My apologies then, "...I thought you were late because you overslept again."
"I am not!" I denied Serena's accusation in annoyance. "I was awake really early this morning!"
Serena just stared dubiously at me, as if she didn't believe what I said. "Last time you said it, you were an hour late for our group meeting."
Her statement caused me to splutter in embarrassment, as I couldn't deny that particular incident during our study group session. "W-well, okay that's fair. But today I was really talking with my mom!"
"Sure Ash, let's believe that." Serena replied while giving me a playful smirk, causing me to quickly shift our conversation topic in order to avoid more embarrassment.
"A-Anyway, what's your starter? You're hiding it even when I kept asking in chat!" I asked Serena, which she smirked in a victorious grin as if she just won a lottery.
"You really want to know? Hmmm~?"
"Ugh… you're such a tease, Serena." I grumbled in irritation, much to her amusement.
"I learned from the best," Serena just laughed as she then brought her Pokeball out, while immediately throwing it to the air, as the Pokeball opened to release the Pokemon inside in a flash of bluish light.
It was a quadrupedal Pokemon with brown fur. It had brown eyes, long, pointed ears, and a small black nose. It also had a bushy tail and a furry collar with a cream-colored tip.
My eyes widened.
"You got an Eevee for your starter?!"
Serena merely snorted at my reaction while picking Eevee to her embrace, much to the Pokemon's delight. "Hello, why are you even surprised seeing my starter when you, out of all of the people, got a freaking Larvitar. Not even Gary gets the same treatment as you, and he is Professor Oak's grandchild."
I chuckled in a sheepish smile. "I was lucky. Didn't expect that the Larvitar whom I found as an egg would agree to be my starter, even after I returned him back to his mother."
Now it was Serena who widened her eyes upon hearing my explanation. "Wait, so the Larvitar that you got was the same Larvitar from that egg? The one that we found during professor Oak's summer camp?"
"Yep, it was the same Larvitar," I nodded in affirmation. "I found out about it after I met professor Oak this morning. He explained that Larvitar's mother is moving from Mt. Silver, and she decided to settle near professor Oak's ranch, where he immediately recognized her as the same Tyranitar who we've met before. One thing after another, and here I am, with Larvitar who chose to be my starter."
"Dang, you're lucked out with Larvitar. But it's logical for him to choose you as his trainer, considering he was imprinted on you when he hatched." Serena hummed in understanding after hearing my story.
"But that's not the only thing," I said while taking out something from my bag, and showed it to Serena. "Professor Oak also gave me this."
Serena's blue eyes widened in astonishment upon seeing the item, as she gave me a disbelieved look.
"... Seriously?"
