Blake POV

.

"And here." Drayden points out on the request form for more antidotes. "This wasn't signed properly and as such needs to be redone."

"Okay, how is it not signed properly?" I ask.

"On official request forms, you need to sign your epithet after your name." He says. "It goes, Name, then your job title, then the region that job title applies."

"So I need to sign it, Blake, Opelucid City Gym Leader, Unova?" I clarify.

"Correct." Drayden says. "Aside from that, everything else is filled out correctly."

Drayden is teaching me how to fill out various forms and applications. Mostly request forms right now.

There is so much paperwork with this job! No wonder there was a scandal with Skyla skimping her duties as Gym Leader. She probably just needed a break.

Unova has a bottom up supply system. Basically, we request supplies. And it's up to the league to provide. It's far more efficient. But it puts more of the paperwork and responsibility on the individual Gym Leader.

A stark contrast to Paldea's top down supply system. Where the league looks at what you have. What you've used. And gives you supplies based on that. All regulated and controlled by Geeta.

I, really don't like Geeta.

Geeta puts on a friendly face. She's kind and cordial. And she's always saying how she has a bad habit of not holding back and that as champion of Paldea it's a bad thing.

It's all bullshit. Geeta is a master manipulator who rules Paldea with an iron grip. Not to say she's not good for Paldea. The region thrives under her. But she's a micromanager and a puppeteer. Hell, she'll purposefully underperform in battles so that people underestimate her and see her as weaker than she is.

Dad taught me how to spot the signs of a manipulator. And one of the key indicators is how the people around them act in their presence and when they're not around. And only Kofu has nothing bad to say about her.

Hell, she's the reason me and my second girlfriend broke up. Made her an offer that to me, sounded way too good. The worst part was that she was encouraging me and her to take the deal together. We had a fight over it and broke up. I went home to try my hand at the Sinnoh League Cup. Got second place. Put in a few applications to ghost gyms. And the rest is history.

That's the past though. For now, I have forms to fill out. And hopefully I won't have to deal with Geeta anytime soon.

"Alright, now, about the applications." I say.

"That's a whole other matter." Drayden says. "For one-"

*Krzzt*

My office intercom goes off.

"Blake, you have a visitor." The receptionists voice rings out.

Drayden sends me a questioning look. To which I just shrug.

I press the intercom.

"Um, who is it?" I ask.

'Please don't be mom, please don't be mom, please! Don't, be, mom!' I beg in my head.

"She wouldn't say." She says.

Drayden pushes me aside to take the mic.

"Elaborate." He says. "Because it sounds like you let her up without verifying her identity."

"Uh, Drayden! Sir!" She stutters. "Well, she insisted she knew you and even mentioned a few things so I just-"

"Disregarded security?" Drayden finishes.

"I got this." I say and take back the mic.

"Janet. Consider this your verbal warning." I say and take my finger off the intercom.

"My apologies." Drayden says. "Not used to, well."

"Not being in charge around here?" I ask.

He nods as he crosses his arms.

"It's fine." I say. "Besides, you know this job better than me."

*Knock* *Knock*

"Guess that would be them." I say. "Come in!"

The door opens to reveal, nothing. There is literally nothing there. Just an empty hall.

"Okay?" I say in confusion.

Only for a Mimikyu to slowly walk into view from the left of the door frame. Turning to look at us with. With a flowery hairpiece on its costumes ear.

"Mii?" She innocently questions.

"I thought yours wore a Gengar suit." Drayden says.

"She does. That's not my Mimikyu. But I know who's it is." I say quietly as I stand up.

I put a finger to my lips as I quietly walk over. I get to the doorframe, right before Mimikins and quickly reach around the right side of the frame.

"Aah!" I hear a familiar childish voice giggle as I drag them by their side into view.

'Just what I thought.' I think with a mix of tiredness and amusement as the girl comes into view. Her purple dress and purple, puffy hair. Coy, sleepy expression.

"Blakey!" The small girl shouts as she hugs me. "Guess that little spook didn't work."

"Ace, what are you doing here?"

Iono POV

.

"Alright chat! With that I bid you adieu!" I say after reading of the gifters for the stream.

Turning off the recording equipment and going though all my viewer metrics. I double check to make sure the equipment's off.

After doing so. I get up and stretch. Turning my hairpieces off. I hold then as I step out of my recording room. Head to my bedroom. Put them on the charger. Toss my stupid oversized jacket off. And faceplant onto my bed.

Be a streamer! They said. It's fun! They said. You set your own schedule and play games all day! They said! You make good money! They said!

No one told me that it's only sometimes fun. And that setting my own schedule is more work than having a set schedule! Or that ninety percent of the time you're not playing games you like or even how you want. You do what's popular and entertaining! And you have to keep it fresh and intuitive, or you'll lose viewers, sponsors, money, relevance, it's never ending!

Editing, networking, collabs, keeping track of content policies.

Always keeping a squeaky clean and popular image!

Blake was right. This job was too good to be true. And then there's managing this on top of being a Gym Leader! Damn you Geeta!

She's the devil incarnate. Hell, Larry has a normal salary job. And is being forced to be a Gym Leader and an Elite Four!

It's inhumane! Geeta is a monster!

"Raaaaaaaaaaagggghhhh!" I scream into my pillow.

'Maybe I'm just burnt out?' I think to myself. 'I have vacation days.'

I pull out my RotoPhone and scroll through my alt accounts that I use to stay up to date on what's popular.

My primary demographic is kids, teens, and young adults.

"Hmm?"

New Gym Leader? That's always juicy.

Scrolling through, yada yada, Drayden retires after half a century. Blah blah, Oooh! They're a new type! That always causes drama. I should know. Levincia's Gym was Steel before me.

I fired everyone within the year. Replaced them with people who don't annoy me.

Keep reading. Blah, blah, come on who are they!?

"Rmm, blah blah, champion rank. Gym Trainer, yada yada." I mutter as I keep skimming. "New Gym Leader of Opulecid City. BLAKE!?"

"What the hell!?" I scream at my phone. "We break up over you not wanting to be a costar and co-Gym Leader with me! And you run off and become a Gym Leader in another REGION!?"

That honestly hurts! We were so good together! I mean, he was right about streaming being more stressful than it seemed. And that accepting Geeta's offer wasn't worth it.

But still! We could've split the duties! I even had a whole Rotom mascot line idea to represent us!

"Great." I say and slump back down.

I don't know how to feel about this.

How they met

Solis was given to Blake by his parents for his tenth birthday to train and keep him company at Naranja Academy. The idea being that Blake would take after either his mother or father in type specialty. When he was in his third year he managed to get his hands on a set of malicious armor and evolved Solis.

How they met

Glitter was a box standard Gimmighoul that Blake found collecting coins near a fountain in Mesagoza. When he set out on his Treasure Hunt, a yearly tradition of Naranja Academy students go on starting at age fifteen, Blake made it his hunt to evolve Glitter. Scouring the highs and lows of Paldea to find enough golden coins.

Strategies

Glitter is bulky. With decent speed and high bulk, it's not a matter of Glitter taking down the opponent. It's a matter of outlasting them and getting in opportunity hits to whittle them down.

Item: Punching Glove

Moves:

Rage Fist

Drain Punch

How they met

In his second year at Naranja, Blake thought he was ready to venture into the wilds of Paldea despite all warnings he was not. Self assured in his own natural talent he took Solis and Glitter out to explore. It was not long before he got lost and ran into a territorial Bisharp. Solis fell to the Bisharp along with Glitter. That's when a miracle occurred and a Primeape showed up. After the Primeape beat the Bisharp, Blake took it back to be healed. And got detention for two weeks. It was this instance that gave Blake a reality check and showed him that talent is nothing without hard work.

Strategies

Bork is Blakes answer to dark and normal types. With Bork being unusually calm for an Annihilape, on the surface. Bork waits and cages his rage. Until the right opportunity to inflict the most pain arises. Blake has to be careful with this, if he lets Bork store too much rage he becomes feral.

Bork was a member of Blake's Sinnoh League team.

Swords Dance

Night Slash

Air Slash

How they met

.

Yuki the Froslass

Female

Type: Ice/Ghost

Ability: Snow Cloak

Item: Nevermelt ice

Moves:

Snowscape

Blizzard

Confuse Ray

Shadow Ball

How they met

During Blake's tenure as one of Ryme's Gym Trainers. Blake and three others were sent out to deal with a Froslass that was attacking travelers. After a battle that killed one of the other Gym Trainers in the chaos. Blake finally took down the territorial Froslass. And found its wounded Snorunt child. Yuki is that child.

Strategies

Yuki is another of Blake's trickier Pokémon. If she can manage to set up the terrain. It's over. She hides in the snowstorms and attacks out of sight. Confusing the opponent and setting the stage for a clean victory.

Male

Type: Water/Ghost

Ability: Adaptability

Item: King's Rock

Moves:

Phantom Force

Wave Crash

Scale Shot

Aqua Jet

How they met

When venturing near the great crater of Paldea on his Treasure Hunt. Blake ran into a school of oddly colored Basculin's. Believing them to be a rare, undiscovered regional variant. He caught the school and sent them home for Professor Rowan to study. Only for Rowan to find the method to evolving them. Something the red and blue Basculins are entirely incapable of. Blake requested one of the Basculins back and trained it himself and went through the arduous task of evolving it.

Fun Fact: Due to not being able to find any more schools of White-Striped Basculins. They were not given the regional variant moniker.

Strategies

Wisp is another of Blake's powerhouses. Wisp is deceptively calm, waiting and moving slowly, even allowing itself to be hit before catching opponents off guard with massive bursts of speed.

Strategies

Lake is prankster down to his core. Using status move to debilitate and then using moves that work off of those.

Lake was a part of Blake's Sinnoh League team.

So I have an idea of who the girls in the romantic comedy will be. But I'm willing to hear you guys out.

So far it's.

Acerola

Iono

-Not revealed yet-

Let me know who you want to see in here!

.

Also let me know which of Blake's Pokémon you want to see the meeting of in the bonus next.

.

I have another fic based on the Worm series by Wildbow.

It's over 400k+ words now!

.

So, yeah. I really don't like Geeta. And the game makes some worrying references about her personality.

Like how Rika says she and the other Elite 4 were "Strong-Armed" into their roles. Poppy is a literal child. Geeta herself says she handpicked the Gym Leaders. Etc.

She just seems shady.
