This is the continuation of the account of the first day of the quest to complete the New Unovan Pocket Monster Index. Though I had accepted Dr. Juniper's quest, I was not turly interested in the prospect of hunting down all of the over 100 Pocket Monsters throughout Unova. My reason for accepting this assignment was to challenge the Unova League. I had never challenged the Unova League before due to being prevented by my mother, who would not even let me challenge the Gym in own city. But now I could finally challenge it on my own terms.

As I stated last time, I was standing at the back entrance of the school, which also leads into the official Gym. The Trainer's School also pulled double duty as the site for the Aspertia Gym, so I walked through the entrance and saw two battlefields horizonatally with a metal platform in front of them. A man standing to my right, who explained that he was a Gym Guide who gave advice to Gym Challengers, registered me into list of Challengers and aksed me to wait until it was my chance at a challenge. Once it was my turn, I would have to defeat both Trainers on the battlefields before I would be allowed to challenge the Gym Leader, who was my old teacher in battle tactics, Cheren. There were bleachers to the left of the battlefields so I sat in the one of the rows and watched other Trainers attempt to battle the two trainers.

Some of them lost before they could challenge Cheren, but the few that managed to battle him won and earned a Gym Badge from him. I noted the techniques that Cheren and his Gym Trainers used. Finally, it was my chance at the Gym Challenge. I battled the first Gym Trainer, a short Lass and defeated her Lilipup in short work. Then I battled a Youngster, the second Gym Trainer and defeated his Patrat.

After these things, I walked up the stairs to the metal platform and met Cheren. He greeted and acted cold and professional as he declared that he would go all out in battle. He sent out his Patrat which I defeated with some struggle, then sent out his second and last Pocket Monster Lilipup. The Lilipup was more skilled in battle, but I barely managed a victory and defeated Cheren. He rewarded me with the Basic Badge and TM for Work Up and finally acted like the old friend he was. I will continue this account at a later date.
