Chapter 7:

Hinata came a little earlier, the place he told her was nice, it had a green concept, a kinda farm-to-table thing with local produce. Considering it was the last day of October she figured it was going to be a lot of specials with pumpkin involved. Expecting to arrive first to ambiance herself and calm down a bit before her date she wasn't expecting to see her in the far end of the restaurant.

She felt her eyes widen, but quickly regained her posture, fixing discreetly anything in her clothing. His black eyes fixed upon herself, it was so intense that she prayed to not stumble on her walking and make herself an embarrassment. Finally, she said something when she took a seat in front of him. "I'm sorry, did I keep you waiting?" she said with an apologetic smile.

He shook his head, passing her a menu.

"You sure? You probably have something to do, you're very busy after all," her tone was empathetic and worried that the corners of his mouth wanted to lift briefly, amused by her concern.

"I cleared the whole morning," he told her dispersing her worries.

"Really?" she was almost afraid to ask. Her ex-husband never made stuff like that for her, sometimes he forgot they were having a date or any holidays when they were dating. She was always okay, content to have his company, and after they got married she thought that was going to change, but then... well, we all know how that ended.

He nodded. "Don't worry about it,"

The way he spoke looking into her eyes made her feel unsettled in a positive way that made her believe that maybe he was telling him more than just the message in his voice. She broke eye contact by looking at the menu skimming through the options until something jumped out, although to be fair, everything looked to be so appetizing.

"Have you been here before?" she asked.

"No, I just looked through the internet and this seemed like something you would enjoy," he briefly explained.

Her heartbeat picked up again, no one had ever been this considerate before, apart from her family that is; a part of her felt bad because she never thought he was going to be this way. He seemed so serious and detached from whatever had nothing to do with him directly. So this was a surprise, maybe this man in front of her knew more than he let on. It was intriguing.

"I do like it," she complimented looking around at some vines, the warm ambiance, and the fact that it supported local produce. There were not a lot of customers around, which probably meant it was a hidden gem, which added to more charm. "It's cozy,"

"Good," was all he said and silence fell upon them, but not for long since a waiter came to get their drink orders, he asked for a black roasted coffee, and she decided for a lavender iced tea fusion, it didn't take much time for their orders to arrive at that moment they also picked what they wanted to eat.

She took a sip of her tea deciding that it had notes of subtle mint which brought out the mint. "Mm.." she murmured which amused him.

"It matches with your dress," he said drinking from his cup.

Instinctively she looked at her outfit, she had a lilac cashmere dress, it wasn't ostentatious it came together with the date and the setting. "It does," she agreed. "How was your morning?"

"Some exercise and checking some documents," he shared. They were being polite to each other, but they yet had to talk about the main reason he wanted to talk to her. He wasn't stalling, he genuinely liked talking to her, he did dislike small talk, but he tolerated it when it came to her. Maybe it was because she didn't talk without purpose. "What did you do apart from yoga?"

"I was looking at some documents from the editorial too," she said. "We need to publish some books before Thanksgiving,"

"Ah... to feed the consumerists," he complied with dry humor.

It was the kind of thing that she grew up around, her dad was not happy to go to, he was straight to the point, kinda like the man in front of her, however, she felt comfortable enough to let a giggle out. Sasuke's eyes earned a gleam after that, he never made someone laugh before, he was too serious for that, but the warmth in his chest taught him that he liked her giggle.

In his eyes, she was very intriguing, charming even... and he never described someone with that adjective. He gulped his coffee deciding to get to the point, the newly acquired information giving him a reminder as to why he decided to indulge so willingly in this present activity.

"Hinata..." he called, feeling nervous when her opalescent eyes looked up at him. "I would like to get to know you better,"

Never in his life had he ever said something like that, but he felt euphoric his heart ringing in his eardrums, the blood pumping through his veins, he suddenly made that declaration because aware of how his emotions affected the rest of his body. If he was being honest, it annoyed him a little bit, he didn't like feeling things that were not familiar.

Hinata's cheeks felt warm and she hadn't even touched them. It was crazy that this situation came to be, she suspected it, and of course, she knew the signs. However, a part of her felt stunned. Sasuke Uchiha was probably one of the most attractive guys she had ever since, and she knew she was pretty, although it took a while for her to know it; she felt she was not at the Sasuke level. So, yeah, a part of her doubted that he was even remotely attracted enough to get interested.

Yeah, it was a surreal moment in her life.

"Sasuke-san I..." she was almost too stunned to speak, a lot of things going through her mind.

"You want to think about it?" he offered seeing her so flustered. He could see her trying to think about this situation, Itachi also told him that it could be a strong possibility considering she was recently divorced; he was prepared to wait, even if patience wasn't his forte.

He saw her nod for a bit, feeling too overwhelmed to answer verbally, but grateful he gave her a choice, and so kindly. She licked her lips. "I won't keep you waiting long," she said. "I just need to think some stuff," she admitted.

"That's fine," he said. "You know my intentions now,"

"I'm flattered," she said. "Sasuke-san is very... enigmatic,"

He rather liked that compliment. It was a fresh new concept that made his chest rise with pride. She was tactful, probably from being an editor, and she had an expansive vocabulary. The waiter arrived with their orders, and they limited themselves to enjoying the food in contemplative silence.

Enjoying each other's company.
