CHAPTER 1 - THE SWITCH
Hey guys. I know it has been awhile. I have not updated my first story 'Rise Again' for a long time. I apologize for that. I just have not found the right way to move forward. Plus, I have been busy with my day job these last few weeks. When I find time, I will try to update the story.
This is a product of my overactive imagination. Let's see what kind of results it yields, shall we?
Ok then, let us get into the story.

Echo Park, Burbank
"I wonder where Morgan is."
Chuck was at home setting up his gaming equipment, so that he could play Call of Duty with his best friend, Morgan. They had come to his house, after working a full shift at the Buy More, and Morgan said he needed to go home, to give his mother the medicines he had bought for her. He was supposed to be back half an hour ago, so he not yet arriving was worrying him. Just as he was about to call him, there was a small gust of wind in his room. He thought it was strange, considering the fact that the windows were closed. He turned around to see a man, wearing a black cloak, covering his head with a hood. He looked to be about 6'3" tall and had somewhat light skin. Chuck was nervous about the fact that someone was able to get in with the windows closed, but figured he was probably hiding in here, waiting to come out. In a scared tone, he asked him, "Who are you?"
The man said nothing, slowly walking towards Chuck, which caused him to backtrack, eventually pinned against the wall. He was shaking like a leaf in absolute terror, thinking about the horrible things this man was about to do to him. The last thing he saw was a face covered by a face mask in the lower half, and a single red eye, before everything went black.
15 minutes later
Morgan walked into the room to find his friend, lying on the bed, sleeping. He walked up to him and shook him awake, "Chuck! Buddy wake up."
Chuck sprang up suddenly, in a defensive stance, looking around. He blinked before turning around, meeting Morgan's incredulous stare, "Dude, what the hell are you doing?"
Chuck shook his head, as if shaking off cobwebs, before looking at Morgan, "I have no idea how I even slept off. I was setting up the gaming equipment, and suddenly everything went blank."
Morgan sighed, and shook his head, "Man, you seriously need to get some rest. You have been running yourself ragged these past few weeks. I know that you want to help Ellie with the finances, but you need to take care of yourself too." He patted him on the back and went about setting up the gaming system. He was so focused on the gaming system that he did not notice his friend's eye turn red for a split second before becoming its normal brown.
After a good evening session of video gaming, Chuck chased Morgan home, telling him that it was getting late, and his mom was probably waiting for him. After he left, he went to his room, locking the door and window. Suddenly there was a swirling vortex, before a man, was dropped on the bed from it. The man was none other than Chuck Bartowski. The man who was standing slowly transformed into the man in the cloak. He removed his hood, showing a head full of blonde hair. His eyes were an azure blue, showing wisdom and maturity beyond his years, well physical years. He had a blank look on his face, looking at Chuck with an unreadable expression.
He said in a deep voice, "I'm sorry, Chuck. But I am going to have to take your place for a while. There are forces at play, that will ruin whatever happiness and innocence you have. I don't want you to have to go through whatever they are going to put you through. Ever since I came to this world, you were my first friend, the only guy who has ever found a way to worm through the brick wall that was my heart. I will not let anything ever harm you or your family. That is a promise I made to myself. I never break my promises, ever. You will be safe, while as you, I will work to make sure these forces can never cause you, Ellie or Devon any harm. Loathe as I am to admit it, Devon is also a part of this family, and I will do anything to save him as well."
Thinking about Devon, made him think about Ellie. She was his brightness, his light, and his first love. Chuck and Ellie were introduced to him many years ago, when Chuck was 13 and Ellie was 17. He was 16 at the time, so he was closer to Ellie's age, but he was closer to Chuck than Ellie. But when he turned 19, Ellie became someone close to his heart. He had loved her since then, but he never told her anything. Two months after he turned 18, he faked his death, and left. He needed to make sure no harm came to them, and being with them prevented him from using any of his abilities. It pained him to see them take his death so hard, but he knew it had to be done. A year after his death, Ellie started dating Devon, a blonde haired, blue eyed man, who was in med school with her. He looked so much like him that for a second he thought Ellie was projecting her feelings for him onto Devon. But one day he heard her talking to Chuck, telling him that she hated him for leaving them alone like this. Since then, he had closed his heart off, not dating anyone. He did have one night stands, after all he was a man, and had a healthy libido. But he rarely spent a second night with anyone.
He now lived in the shadows, nameless, and faceless. His only mission in life was to protect his family from any threats. He had set up a network of information, with spies all over the world. He had many government officials under his control, helping him valuable intel from all over the world. One such operative had sent him a message about the CIA wanting to recruit Chuck into a new science project, making a test subject and field operative. He had done so well in the encoded imaging exam, that the agency had taken an interest in him. Had he let that happen, they would have made Chuck like him, an emotionless killing machine, who killed anyone the government pointed at. So, he placed his roommate, Bryce Larkin under his control, making him want to protect Chuck, to keep him out of the CIA. But what he did not expect was Bryce framing Chuck for cheating on that exam making the results void. But it also had the negative effect of getting Chuck expelled from Stanford, his name tarnished. To add insult to injury, his then girlfriend, Jill Roberts had made it look like she slept with Bryce, breaking Chuck's heart. He had been so furious when he came to know about the incident that he almost went and ripped her heart out. However he controlled himself, taking his frustrations out in a different way.
Now, he had come to know that Chuck was once again a target for the CIA. Bryce had broken into a secure CIA facility and stolen the Intersect, a software that was supposed to be downloaded into Chuck had he been recruited out of Stanford. Now, he had to intervene. He could not let Chuck download that thing into his head. That would spell danger for him and his family. He decided to take Chuck's place should Bryce send him the Intersect, and just as he had expected, Bryce sent it through email. He put him to sleep in a powerful illusion, and sent him into his Kamui plane, then transforming into him.
And now, looking at him sleeping, he put his hand on him, once again transporting him to his Kamui world. He transformed back to Chuck and went to his computer. He opened the browser, and opened his email website. Quickly finding the email, he braced himself, and opened it. He watched the entire email, taking all the pictures at high speed, his red eyes never blinking, and the three tomoes swirling around the pupil at a fast rate. After the download, he slumped for a few seconds, and slowly sat up, his eyes going back to their usual blue. He then walked to the bed, deciding to get some well needed rest. He would need to be ready for his meeting with whomever the CIA and NSA sent to recover the thing from Chuck.
The Next Day
The Buy More was busy and bustling with people going around buying electronics. As a senior Nerd Herder, Chuck was supposed to man the Nerd Herd desk, helping customers with any problems with their phones, laptops and other gadgets. Having taken his place, he needed to know how to fix that stuff as well. Thankfully, he had managed to go through Chuck's memories and experiences, having gained the knowledge needed to do the stuff as well. He could not do it at Chuck's speed and expertise, but he could do it if needed.
As he was looking at the computer at the desk, logging in the last service he had made, he heard Morgan sidle up to his side, whispering "Check it out. Vicky Vale is here."
He ignored it, and continued working. Suddenly he heard a throat clearing sound. He looked up and was stunned into silence. A woman was at the desk and she looked absolutely gorgeous. She had beautiful silky blonde hair, ice cold blue eyes that were trying so hard to generate warmth, and an athletic figure. He shook it off quickly, before analyzing the woman in front of him. Her smile which seemed genuine was an act, and her body was poised to attack him at a moment's notice. She was as alert as anyone could be. He concluded that this was possibly an agent from either CIA or NSA. He was leaning towards the CIA, as the NSA mostly had agents who looked more like bouncers than anything else.
She smiled and asked, "Hey, can I get someone to take a look at my phone please? It has been acting up a lot lately" She was showing him her phone, which was the standard CIA issue, confirming his assumption.
He took the phone from her and looked at it, "Ah, the Intellicell. It usually comes with a screw lose in the back, which often pops open" he opened the back, tightened the screws and popped it shut, handing it over back to her, "Here you go"
She smiled widely, "Wow, you geeks are good"
He just stared at her and smiled, "Thank you. I'm Chuck Bartowski. And you are?"
She was surprised, but hid it well "I'm Sarah Walker. Nice to meet you"
He simply smiled at her, and got back to work. This made Sarah frown. Based on the file they had on him, he was a nerd, who had zero luck with women, so a gorgeous woman like her was supposed to make him so flustered that he was a puddle of goo. But he hardly paid her any attention, except for when the first made eye contact. She needed to work him, so that she could get the location of the Intersect out of him before the NSA reached him. She decided to go full aggressive mode.
She smiled a shy smile, "I'm new to town, you know. I had just moved from DC. I need someone to show me around. Are you by any chance free tonight?"
He blinked; partly surprised that she had basically gone all out, asking him out on a date. She was laying on the full court press it seemed. He could use it to his advantage, getting information about her and the CIA, including the operation. Before he could say anything however, Morgan suddenly came up from the side, stating "Oh he's absolutely free" The glare he gave Morgan made him gulp and go to the other aisle, as if he was talking to a customer. He just sighed, and looked at her, smiling sheepishly, "Apparently my schedule is wide open"
She smiled brightly, "Great. So, here is my number. Pick me up at the Maison 23, at 7pm. I'll see you tonight" She winked at him before leaving, swaying her hips hypnotically, making him look for a while before shaking his head. He needed to get his head straight.
Well, he could probably have fun with this. He decided to have as much fun as possible.
End Chapter
Well, that's it for Chapter 1. I know you all are thinking that I am going into a new story without updating the previous one properly. That is because I am confused as to where to take that story. This however, I am getting a clear idea on how to move this forward.
The Sharingan will be explained later, as well as him coming into this world, apparently younger than he was. All your questions will be answered in the upcoming chapters.
So till then,
Toodles.
