Chapter 1
….
Alec Greene is a fifteen-year-old teenager with short black hair which was impossibly spiky. He also had bright purple eyes which seemed to have so much life to them.
The teenager took a seat in front of the bar where Mirajane smiled at him sweetly, closing her eyes. "Is there anything I can get you, Alec?"
Alec's lips curved into a smile. "I'll just take a burger and a cola, please."
"Of course."
Alec watched as she walked to where the stove and refrigerator were and got to work. He stared at her for a moment. Being a member of fairy tail he was close with most of its members, Mirajane was no different. She was like an older sister to him, not that he would admit that, under normal circumstances anyway.
Fifteen minutes or so passed before his ears perked up hearing a commotion. He turned his head to see Natsu along with a girl with blond hair which reached the middle of her back, her hair was straight for the most part, but she had a ponytail tied by a red ribbon, also two bangs hanged over either shoulder. She also had warm brown eyes.
Alec opened his mouth with mild surprise as he looked at the girl, she looked nervous for some reason.
Mirajane walked over to him and placed a cold Cola and a plate with a hamburger on it. She looked at him curiously because he seemed distracted. The white-haired barista followed his line of sight and saw Natsu and the newcomer.
"So pretty."
Mirajane looked surprised. Alec was attracted to the new girl. 'Interesting. He's never took notice of any girls until now, I was beginning to think he was gay.' She thought with an amused look on her face.
Natsu shouted out that they had someone who wanted to join Fairy Tail. There was cheering before Master Makarov told Mirajane to give the girl who introduced herself as Lucy Heartfilia her official Fairy Tail Tattoo.
By now Alec seemed to be enjoying his food. He didn't want to make it obvious that he was checking the new girl out. 'I wonder how it feels to run your hand through her hair. Her hair looks so soft.' Alec blushed when he realized he was having these thoughts.
When Mirajane saw this, she had an amused look adorning her beautiful face. Alec was interested in this new girl, but he was unsure if he was going to ask her out or not. 'I suppose for now I could get to know her.' He thought before turning around as Natsu proposed the two of them go in a Quest. Alec raised a brow, finishing his meal he walked over to them.
Mirajane smiled. She couldn't help but feel envious towards the blond. Alec had a warm heart, aside from his hood looks he had a lot of redeeming qualities such as always being there for his friend, he had the will to protect people he didn't even know. If someone died in front of him, he would feel guilty. That was just the kind of guy he was.
The white-haired takeover mage wasn't jealous or anything, it was just when she thought of a boyfriend a guy like Alec wouldn't be so bad. If Lucy managed to get Alec, she would be one lucky girl.
"Mind if I join you guys?" Lucy and Natsu glanced at him, the latter simply smirked before nodding.
"Lucy, right? I'm Alec Greene. It's nice to meet you." Alec said holding a handout to her.
The blonde returned the smile and accepted his hand. "I already have an apartment here; I sort of need all the Jewels I can get."
Alec nodded. "Let's pick out a mission then. Did you have anything in mind?" He asked.
Natsu pulled out a flier from the request board. This is the Quest we'll be doing! Let's go!" He said in his usual energetic nature. From what Alec read there was a simple group of bandits several towns over, it would take them a few hours to reach their destination if they left right away.
"I'm all fired up!" Natsu exclaimed as Lucy chuckled.
Alec cracked a smile.
"By the way what kind of magic do you use, Alec-San?"
Alec glanced at her and grinned. "I use God Slaying magic. I'm the Wind God Slayer!"
Lucy raised her brow with surprise. "A God Slayer….I heard rumors about God Slayers, but I never thought it was real! Gods exist?!"
Alec smiled at her. "Of course, they do, if Dragons and Demons exist is it that farfetched that gods exist? My mother is the goddess of wind, Fujin."
Lucy widened her eyes at his words. Unsure if he was telling the truth or not or just messing with her.
Alec's smile widened. "She's the best mother in the world."
Lucy saw the genuine love and adoration for his mother and that told her he was indeed reeling the truth. "You must really love her."
"I wouldn't trade her for anyone in the world." He replied. Alec didn't know what it was, talking to Lucy just felt natural. He was nervous around her, but his words just seemed to flow.
After fifteen or so minutes the trio along with happy headed to their first official Quest.
Little did they know the Quest was going to be harder than they thought.
…..
Lucy looked through her wallet and groaned. The trio could be seen signing into an inn. They were about an hour or so away from their destination and since it was getting late, they decided to check into a hotel.
Alec, who had just paid for his room, glanced at Lucy, and rose a brow. "You, okay?"" He asked.
"I don't have enough room. I spent all my money on rent. I don't know what I'm going to do!"
Alec was silent for several moments before looking at the innkeeper. "I'd it possible to upgrade to a room with two beds?" He asked surprising the blonde.
"Certainly." Once Alec handed her more Jewels, he was handed a key to a room that had two beds. Alec glanced at Lucy. "You coming?"
"Wait up!" She exclaimed as she caught up to him and matched his pace. "Why did you pay for me? You didn't have to do that."
Alec chuckled. "It's not that big of a deal. We're guild mates now, we should look after each other." He said which caused her to smile.
"Thank you….I'll definitely pay you back."
"You don't have to do that; besides you have to pay rent don't you?"
"But I can't just not repay you."
"Meh. It's all right. I'm set on money for a while, I couldn't just let you sleep on the streets." Alec said.
Natsu who was nearby chuckled. "Good luck changing his mind. Once he has his mind set on something he doesn't give up."
Lucy sighed and Alec smirked.
….
Several hours later-1:27 AM
Lucy's eyes twitched as she heard something in her sleep. She heard the same noise for at least ten minutes, having enough she snapped her eyes with an irritated look on her face.
"Damn it, I'm trying to sleep here!" The blonde looked to her right and with much surprise she saw Alec with his back pressed against the wall and his face shoved in his knees.
Alec raised his head and Lucy was surprised to see tears in his eyes. He wiped his tears away with a sniffle and laid down, covering the blankets around himself he turned the other way.
Lucy raised a brow, confusion on her beautiful face. "Alec? What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Lucy-San." He replied. The tremble in his voice told her he wasn't fine.
The blonde frowned; he was obviously upset about something. A sigh escaped her mouth before she stood up, it was obvious she wouldn't be getting sleep anytime soon.
Alec balled one of his hands into fists as he felt movement in his bed.
"I don't really know you like that and I know this might be weird me sitting in your bed and all, but I'm here if you need to talk." Lucy placed a hand on his shoulder.
After a minute or two Lucy wondered if he was ignoring her or if he had fallen back asleep.
"I…suffer from night terrors. While it's true I have the best mother I could ever ask for, my birth parents abandoned me in a forest in the middle of nowhere. They said I was a burden. That having a child was too expensive. So…they abandoned me and eventually Ka-Chan found me."
"That's horrible, Alec."
"I'm sorry for waking you up, Lucy-San." The blonde shook her head.
"You don't have to add an honorific at the end of my name. Just Lucy will do."
"Alright, Just Lucy." He joked.
Lucy giggled, underneath the blanket Alec smiled. She had a surprisingly good laugh.
'Lucy, thank you.' He thought with a smile adorning his face.
