During the holiday season, the Dupain-Cheng bakery was the busiest it had ever been. Marinette and her parents feel that this holiday season would be the worst if not for the best delivery boy in Paris, Luka Couffaine.
Sure, delivering Christmas cookies to everyone in Paris with all this snow on the ground was a tough job. But he was Time Guardian Viperion, a title that Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Ryuuko elected after calling out Bunnyx for being incompetent and nearly causing a time paradox. And even if he felt he and the others were harsh on Bunnyx. (Because, let's face it, being a hero was hard!) He was determined to make sure Paris would be safe in any time period. So, delivering cookies in a snowstorm is nothing compared to this.
Although with his time reset powers, he was at least given leeway to breathe. And in a snowstorm, it was almost like being underwater.
But walking back into the warm sweet-smelling Dupain-Cheng Bakery while being greeted and doted on by Marinette's parents was a breath of fresh air. And here was where Marinette was slowly working on her gingerbread house while helping her parents with all the bakery orders.
Luka gently hovered over Marinette's shoulder to get a closer look. She placed the gumdrops on the roof skillfully, and the icing lines were without flaw.
"Looks great Marinette!"
"Oh! Luka!" Marinette blushed and covered the door to her gingerbread house with her hands. "It's not done yet! But please sit down because you have been doing all those cookie deliveries in the snow!"
Luka took off his jacket and placed his hat and gloves on the table before sitting down and resting his elbow on the table so he could dreamily watch Marinette hard at work on her beautiful gingerbread house. But Luka smiling at her so fondly made her blush and mess up her icing lines.
"It really is nothing much Luka. Just something I was inspired to make."
Luka responded with a pleased hum, wishing he had brought his guitar with him, but then Marinette stopped to make a few mental notes.
"I still need to prepare everyone's Christmas cookies though. I hope I can make pistachio macarons right this time!"
Luka realized she would also make a plate of cookies for Viperion, and he needed to be on top of things. Then Tom and Sabine called Luka from the kitchen for more cookie orders. He quickly got out of the seat and put his winter clothes back on.
"Please be careful, Luka!" Marinette cried.
Luka was about to rush into the kitchen but stopped and smiled at Marinette while adjusting his hat. "I'll be just fine Marinette."
Marinette watched Luka as he left, but afterward, she removed the roof of her gingerbread house and took out the little gingerbread cookies she had made to represent all her friends. But after she set all her friends up to play in the frosting snow, she leaned a cookie of herself against the house. Marinette placed Luka and Viperion's cookies beside her cookie as if they were holding hands. Marinette looked fondly at the little cookies but then realized one thing. She took the cookie of Ladybug out of the house and placed it next to Viperion. It was an idyllic scene.
"Marinette! We could use a little more help!" Tom cried.
"Oh!" Marinette cried as she scooped up all the little gingerbread friends and put them back in the house before securing the roof back on. "Coming Papa!"
Christmas Eve was the last day of cookie deliveries, and Marinette lovingly made Luka a plate full of cookies. Masterful blueberry macarons and cookies decorated in royal icing to look like little guitars and musical notes. Luka wanted to savor Marinette's delicious cookies, but he was being called to action on Christmas Eve.
As Viperion, he paid a visit to Marinette's balcony, where two plates of cookies were on the table. One with a card that was addressed to Viperion and was filled with light green pistachio macarons and cookies that looked like chibi snakes. Viperion did a soft chuckle, thinking it was adorable that she made a plate of cookies for Santa, complete with carrots for the reindeer. He had to stop himself from eating the adorable-looking Santa Claus cookies.
But he had a surprise when he took his plate from the table. Using his magic powers, he manifested a present with mint green wrapping paper tied with a silver ribbon and placed it on the table.
He had to leave before Santa Claus came, but he couldn't help but take a moment and eat one of the snake cookies on his plate. "Tasty!"
But in a split second, he thought he saw the beautiful Marinette watching him from behind the translucent curtain. In truth, she giggled and then gasped when Viperion took notice of her. Marinette certainly felt a rush as she sat against the wall, realizing Viperion had nearly caught her.
Viperion smiled as he placed his hand on his hip. "Merry Christmas Marinette." He said before teleporting away.
After Christmas break, Alya and the other girls couldn't stop commenting about the choker necklace Viperion gave her as a gift. The choker had a blue and seafoam green heart as decoration. Luka smiled, knowing how happy his gift had made her. And when he finally talked to her face to face again, the romantic tension couldn't be stronger.
"That necklace looks great on you, Marinette!" Luka said with a smile.
"Oh!" Marinette cried as she placed her hand over the blue and green heart. "Thank you, Luka!"
