Peridot knew that Steven was sad.

It was so obvious; the way he was hunched over the railing on the balcony, his head hung low, eyes downcast. She was just about to march over to him when he finally spoke up.

"I'm a sack of sadness." he whispered, his voice wavering.

It felt as if someone had punched her in the gut. How could her friend think that way?

She went up to him and pulled him into a swift, fierce hug. "You aren't! You're Steven Universe! Not a sack of sadness!"

"But I am…"
