Even Caine didn't know how this happened.
It was Jax's birthday, and Ragatha wanted to give Jax something nice: two dolls that looked like her and Jax. Ragatha had always loved sewing and knitting, she made her own dress after all. But never had Ragatha made another doll, so she had to make sure it was perfect.
Originally, the dolls were going to look exactly like Jax and Ragatha, before she had a better idea: do a little Frankensteining and make two dolls that kinda looked like them, obviously taking designs from both parents.
The first doll was a rabbit, naturally. Ragatha gave the doll a dress, some hair, gave the doll some patches on the dress like hers, and gave the rabbit one eye, like hers. Similar to a Build-A-Bear certificate and a Beanie Baby tag, Ragatha decided that the doll was going to have her own personality. She named this doll Trixie, and she was gonna be a mischievous little rabbit just like Jax. Ragatha wrote everything about Trixie down on a little certificate she made. She hoped she wouldn't regret making a female Jax for his birthday.
The next doll was going to take elements from Ragatha herself. She made a ragdoll whose hair was long and in braided pigtails. Instead of button eyes, their pupils were buttons. She also put the doll in a sailor suit, because Ragatha had an affinity for the ocean and loved whenever they went on the circus pirate ship and searched the seas for treasure. Ragatha thought that making a sailor doll would be the most adorable thing so she went with it. This doll's name was Anna, but Ragatha called her Ann for short.
Ragatha just needed one more thing: a heart. She made some fake hearts to put into the doll. Right before she sewed up the chest of the dolls, Ragatha made a fake heart for each doll. Before putting the heart inside, Ragatha did a little heart ritual; she rubbed the heart on her chest, her shoulders, jumped up and down with it, gave it a kiss, and promised to always give the doll love and affection. She then put the heart in the doll and sewed it up. She then did the same ritual with the other doll.
Once the dolls were completed, Ragatha put them both into a box and wrapped them up with a note for Jax: "Happy birthday! (Please don't put centipedes in my room again.) -Ragatha". She shuddered when she remembered that Jax gave her a bouquet of flowers for her birthday, which had a centipede in it. Thankfully, her gift was gonna be better.
On the day of Jax's birthday, everyone had gotten Jax a gift; Kinger got him a butterfly in a jar that he named after him, Gangle gave him a book on self help, Zooble gave him a birthday knuckle sandwich, and Caine and Pomni (though Pomni didn't actually agree) got him a birthday card.
Now it was time for Ragatha's present. She went over to pick the box up from the table, when suddenly the sound of crying came from inside the box. It sounded like two babies crying inside the box.
"What the?!" Jax says. He runs over the table, pushing Ragatha out of the way.
"Outta the way, Dollface!" Jax says. He opens the box and is greeted by two babies: a baby rabbit and a baby doll, crying. Ragatha gasped as she picked herself up, in complete shock.
"Rags… how did… Did you…" Jax tried to ask, just as in shock as Ragatha was. Ragatha reached into the box and held the baby doll in her arms. Jax did the same for the baby rabbit.
Everyone else at the party was just as in shock as Ragatha and Jax were.
"New life? In the digital circus? And it's not some sort of human?" Caine says. "I need to look into the code."
"Baby?!" Kinger said. "Does that make me an uncle? What does that make Zooble?"
"I'm not touching Jax's offspring with a ten-foot pole," Zooble said. "We already have one Jax, but two Jaxs?!"
Gangle fainted. Kinger just looked at her.
"I think she's dead," Kinger said, pointing at her unconscious body.
"Did you name them?" Caine asked Ragatha.
"Yeah. I made them little certificates, too. And I blessed their hearts with the promise to love and care for them," Ragatha said.
"THATS THE B#&CH!" Caine suddenly exclaimed. "Ragatha, when you did that heart ceremony, that inadvertently created new character slots. They've been programmed to be you and Jax's children!"
"What did you name these kids, anyway?" Jax asked, looking at her.
"Well," Ragatha started. She looked over at the bunny Jax was holding. "That's Trixie, and I have Anna in my arms, but I like to call her Ann."
"Huh. Not only did you make cute babies, you gave them cute names," Jax said, looking down at Trixie. Trixie and Ann had tired themselves out from crying, and were now asleep in their parents' arms.
"I made Trixie first, so she's technically the oldest," Ragatha said. Jax saw that her pupils were vibrating, which meant that she was gonna start crying.
"Rags, you alright?" Jax asked, and Ragatha used her free arm to wipe her eyes from the forming tears.
"I'm… Sorry…" Ragatha says. "I didn't know that I could do that… I just wanted to give you a nice present.."
Jax used his free arm to wrap it around Ragatha, before he gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"It doesn't bother me," Jax said. "Your gift is a lot better than what everyone else got me. I always wanted a mini me. But just be careful, I'll show Trix where I keep all the centipedes."
He chuckles. Trixie whined a little, so the new parents had to return their attention to the dolls.
"Wait right here while I sloppily put together a nursery for you two," Caine says. He disappeared, and a montage played of Caine demolishing a room of a since-abstracted character and turning it into a nursery. Bubble, in a builder's hat, munched on a ham sandwich while Caine worked his digital butt off.
Meanwhile, Jax and Ragatha were sitting on the floor, holding the babies in their arms, the other circus members sitting around them. Ragatha had Anna resting in her arms.
"I'm sorry that you were suddenly given life, but I promise that I will make sure you are safe here as long as I can," Ragatha cooed at the baby as she rocked it to sleep. Ragatha gave the baby a kiss on the forehead. "Mommy loves you," she whispered.
"How come you never talk to me like that?" Jax complained, Ragatha glaring at him.
"Don't ruin this for me!" Ragatha whispered harshly as Jax only smirked at her anger.
"They're so adorable," Gangle grinned. "When will Caine be finished with the nursery? I wanna help decorate it!"
"We're good. Now get lost, I'm having a moment with my children," Jax said, waving her away.
"But this is your birthday party!" Zooble says with a groan. "Caine's gonna make us stay even if we wanted to leave."
"Well, we have cake being served by our NPC servers over there," Jax said, pointing. The camera panned to two NPCS that looked suspiciously like N and Uzi from Murder Drones, the two of them holding cake slices and wearing fancy clothes.
"Oh boy, I hope it's chocolate," Kinger said with glee, rushing over to the two robots. Everyone else made their way to the cake as well. Jax and Ragatha were left sitting on the floor, holding their babies in their arms.
"Well, I guess we have a new adventure on our hands" Jax said. One of the NPCS that Totally Isn't N walked up to Jax and tapped on his shoulder.
"Excuse me, sir," Totally Not N said. "Please come and blow out your candles before we can cut the cake."
"Alright, I'm going, I'm going" Jax sighed. The scene cuts to Jax now in front of a cake with candles. The servers dimmed the lights so the flames of the candles were the only light source. Jax only had one wish, one that he couldn't say or else it wouldn't come true.
For his children to be safe in the circus.
