A few days after camp had started, Emma was working in the kitchen with a camper.

"Thanks for helping me, Becky, having a volunteer in the kitchen makes things go by faster," said Emma who was working on mixing something in a large bowl on one of the counters.

"It's nothing big, I love cooking back home so this is a lot of fun to learn new recipes and it feels good knowing that I'm able to help," said Becky who was a young black girl with rose gold hair. She was on the stove grilling up some chicken in a pan.

"And can I ask you something?" she asked.

"Sure," said Emma.

"I've heard rumors that you and Vivian started dating last summer when you were a camper," said Becky while looking over her shoulder at the older woman.

"Is it true?" she asked.

"Should have figured rumors like that would start going around," said Emma with a sigh as she stopped her food prep.

"I'm sorry, I should not have said anything," said Becky while turning back to face the stove in order to turn the chicken before it began to burn.

"It's alright; and no, we didn't start dating then but after camp was over, all I did was confess to her that I had feelings while I was a camper," said Emma.

"But you did kiss her, right?" asked Becky.

"If you want to know more, then we can talk with Vivian later as I don't think it would be right to say anything about this without her," said Emma.

"Right now we need to focus on making lunch," she said.

"Alright," said Becky while they both got back to working.

"I hope this does not bring trouble for Vivian and the camp, because it would be all my fault if it does," thought Emma who had a worried expression as she went back to stirring what was in the bowl.
