Roman Sionis or rather the Black Mask as he prefers to call himself is obsessed with Masks and the meaning behind them. So much that he has had the mask he carved from his own father's coffin and fused it upon his own face, and had his own obsessed followers do the same with their respected masks. Once the right hand man of Oswald Cobblepot otherwise known to Gotham as the Penguin, Roman would eventually betray his his when he rose to power at his father's cosmetic's company Janis Cosmetics and along with any men and money that were in Oswald's grasp was gone. During this time no one in Gotham was made aware that he was running his own small crime organization yet, and he had been damned careful of keeping that way. However, it's shelter in Gotham's shadow was not to be when one day the company was purchased by Wayne Enterprise after a hideous debacle involving an untested waterproof variant of cosmetics. In revenge, Roman took Bruce Wayne and the entire board hostage as he dubbed himself as the Black Mask, as he planned to exact his revenge on Wayne and his "lackeys" as Roman referred to them. However, he was thwarted by the combined forces of Police Commissioner James Gordon and the bat's poor mindwiped accomplice Robin. Poor boy, blinded by the madness of our "protector". But I digress, it was quite petty of Roman if I am to be honest, For it was his own incompetence which led his company down the path it went and if it weren't for Wayne, it would have been bankrupt. If anything, he should have been grateful to Mr. Wayne, but no. Instead he turned to crime as his salvation and now he sits in our care. Sad really.
