"Mom, is the poor little owl going to be ok? It was badly hurt. I tried my best but…"
"I'm sorry, but the vet said that the poor thing may not make it."
"What? But I tried…Wasn't I fast enough? Didn't I try hard enough?"
"You tried your best. And it was enough. At least you made sure the little owl was happy in his last days. But…sometimes we try so hard and we don't always succeed."
"Is he coming back as a ghost? I mean, then we won't have to say goodbye? You and Dad know ghosts, right?"
"We do but there is a lot we don't know. I am not sure if the little owl will come back. He may go…to Paradise. Where a good owl like him will have anything his little owl heart desires."
"I guess that's fine but…he still had to get hurt. I tried to help but…what is the point if I fail to save someone?"
"Because it is still the right thing to do. You don't know until you try. It's better then having done nothing at all. You have a big heart Danny, and it's good you want to help. I'm proud that you tried so hard."
"You and Dad, you save people too right? From bad ghosts?"
"Yes, we do. We save people from bad ghosts. And make sure the good ghosts…they are at peace."
"I wish I was as strong and good as you mom."
"You can be. I didn't start off strong or skilled. I had to try multiple times until I got strong enough. Life is about falling and getting up after all. But if you are willing to push through, you can do anything you can set your mind to."
"So can I one day become an astronaut?"
"If you work really heard, you will."
"And will I be strong enough? Strong enough to protect everyone?"
"I think one day you'll be really strong. Stronger then me or your dad. As long as you don't give up."
"I will Mom. I promise."
"We can…you don't have to if you don't want to but…while the doctor can't save the owl, you can say goodbye. It may be difficult but…"
"No…I want to say goodbye. Let him know he has a friend, so he is a bit happy before…"
"You're very strong and mature for your age, Danny. Never change."
"But if I don't change I will not get stronger, Mommy."
"You got me there, kiddo."
The black haired, blue-eyed teenage called Danny Fenton finally made it to school. He still had bags under his eyes and a bit pale, as he had to stay home for a while due to a…condition he contracted. But he was feeling good enough to go do school now. It was still going to be rough, but at least he can get out of the house for a bit and reconnect with people.
Speaking off, he looked at two people talking to each other in front of the school building whom were more then familiar to him. A goth girl with black hair in pigtails, purple eyes, black and purple gothic attire which included a hoodie, fingerless gloves, a skirt, black tights and combat boots, and a choker and bracelet.
The other was an African-Amercian Boy with black short hair, turquoise eyes, glasses, a long-sleeve yellow shirt, green cargo pants with a black belt, and brown boots along with a red beret. He was busy dialing on his smartphone while talking to the girl at the same time. But both broke their conversation off when they noticed Danny coming in. "Danny, glad to have you here." The African-American boy said as he and the goth girl moved up to him. "How have you been since…"
"As good as I can be, Tucker. At least I can get back to school like normal…or relatively normal." Danny said, softly and sounding tired. "But it's better if I get to hang out with you two again."
"Yeah, just talking over webcam and sending your coursework through email is not the same." The goth girl said nervously as she rubbed her arm. "It hasn't been the same without you."
"Yeah, our little trio isn't complete without you. You still look a little out of it. You sure that…" Tucker asked.
"It's as good as it can get, there is no undoing…that. At least I have managed it enough so I can get back to school." Dannys said.
"You need to, though? Because if you check your grades, the essays you did from home were some of your best yet." Sam pointed out.
"I guess it was the environment. I had little distracting me…"
"Dash?" Sam and Tucker asked.
"Dash…" Danny replied. "Hope he and his gang of meatheads haven't given you too much problems?"
"Not more then usual. We have mostly been able to stay clear." Sam noted.
"Mostly…" Tucker said with a pained grin. "Except when they threw my tablet in a bird's nest, very hard to get it back."
"What an asshole." Danny muttered softly. "That's what I meant, how can I get any work in school done when I have to constantly look over my shoulder towards him?" He said as he turned to his friends. In a nearby tree though he saw something flicker and he narrowed his eyes.
"Danny, what's up?" Sam asked.
"I thought I saw…never mind." Danny said. "Let's get inside, class is about to start soon." As he and his friends entered the school, the green flicker in the trees reappeared, and the source of them were a pair of green eyes.
Danny passed a few students in the hallway. Whom were surprised to see him again. "Hey, the Fenton kid is back. I thought he was dead."
"Nah, he was just sick. People say he became infected with a ghostly virus due to his weird parents doing some creepy ass experiments. How ridiculous."
"I dunno, Paulina. There are reports about fairies, superheroes with gigantic chins, a boy genius whom literally made a lab in his family's garden shed, a colony of fishmen under the sea…what would be weird about ghosts?"
"Star, be serious. This is Amity Park. Nothing weird ever happens in Amity Park. That is for those bigger cities like Chincinatti or Dimmsdale. Like we'd ever see ghosts here. It's just the family being weird and tinkering for things that will never come. And that loser boy is really out of it, normally he would cast a glance at me."
"You like him, Paulina?"
"Don't be silly. I just love everyone stumbling over themselves to adore me even when I mock them. Oh well, many other nerds whom get their hopes up for to me to take down a peg."
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Nothing ever happens in Amity Park, you said?"
"SHUT UP, STAR! And run for your life!"
Danny had hoped for a normal day ever since…well, the 'incident'. Danny knew ghosts were real. Their world had superheroes and supernatural. But he rarely saw them. Most of what his parents fought he wasn't there for the very few they kept at their labs were blobs, small ghosts, barely more then animals. But this was entirely different.
This ghost was human-like. It looked like an average elderly lunch lady. Pink and white apron, a bit of meat on her bones (do ghosts still have bones?) and wrinkled. Aside her green skin and ghostly glow she would like a nice normal old lady. But she wasn't nice and she wasn't a normal old lady. "Casper High, I am so glad to be back here…" she said in a very sweet tone. "SO I CAN DESTROY EVERYONE HERE!" she said as she pulled out cleaver and a large knife and her sweet disposition turned psychotic.
"Yikes, that granny ghost is scary!" Tucker said.
"I guess there is no other way." Danny said as he dragged his friends away, out of sight of everyone else. They made sure no one looked at them (not that they were paying attention since they were too busy panicking).
"Wait, are you sure. It doesn't have to be you." Tucker said. "She's dangerous."
"I have the power to stop her. If you have a power or skill, what good is it if you don't use it?" Danny replied. "She could hurt people. And if people got hurt while I had the means to stop her then…what kind of person would that make me?"
"That's just you, isn't it Danny. Never hesitating to help others. Ever since you decide to help a lonely girl at the playground by getting in between her and some bullies." Sam said with a fond, nostalgic smile on her face.
"And right now, it's time to take out a bigger bully." Danny said as he took a deep breath. It came out like a wisp, like how one's breath became visible in cold weather. "Going Ghost!"
Danny was enveloped in a white aura. It was smokey, almost-flame like, traveling from his feet upwards, completely engulfing him and you could almost hear the moans and screams of the deceased. As the smoky aura died down, Danny had changed. His skin was now tanned, his eyes were green and glowing and His hair was white. His outfit was also different. It was mostly black, with white boots, gloves and collar. He also wore a black hoodie with white accents and trim. On his chest was a logo, a ghostly white D with a black P inside that melded with the black of his suit.
"Whoa…" Tucker said. "It looks different from when you first came out of the portal."
"Did you take a look at the designs I sent you?" Sam asked.
"Yeah. I thought they were great. Don't mind me using them before I could ask?" Danny asked. There now was a ghostly echo in his voice.
"Not at all. You look…amazing." Sam said.
"You sure you can handle this on your own?" Tucker asked.
"No, I want you to call in the cavalry. I will hold her off. I don't have the means to contain her." Danny said.
"You think they're going to be upset you're doing this?" Tucker asked.
"Maybe a bit but…they'll understand." Danny pulled up his hood over his head, and pulled a part of his collar over his mouth and nose like a mask. "Now, if you don't mind me…I have the apparition of a deceased lunch lady to take down…and that is a sentence I never thought I'd utter." And with that, Danny flew off.
"Go get her." Sam said, a slight blush on his face as she thought on how heroic Danny looked. She normally didn't believe in that fairytale crap but…she believed in Danny.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"Now, now dearies, no need to run." Lunch Lady said sweetly before she clanged her cleaver and knife together and a gong-like sound could be heard. "ATTEMPT AT ESCAPE IS FUTILE!" she said as she went into psycho mode.
The food across the cafeteria started to float upwards and change. Things like the mashed potatoes and jelly became monstrous blobs with a wide mouth and eyes. A turkey leg mutated so that the bone split and grew into bony spider legs and among the meaty part a vertical mouth full of teeth formed. A pile of spaghetti became a monstrous sphere with an eye poking out and larger noodles swirling like tentacles, like it was a demented pasta-octopus. "My nightmare has come true! Food eats people!" one of the students shouted.
The food monsters pounced at the students and teachers. One humanoid broccoli creature nearly got to a student as suddenly a black and white blur shot by, rammed into it and broke it apart into many pieces. Danny stood there, in a battle pose. "Run." He said to the student.
"A-A-Are you a ghost?" the student asked.
"Sort of. Now get to safety." Danny re-iterated, and the student didn't need to be told twice. Danny now had drawn the attention of the food monsters. "You are supposed to be all part of a balanced diet. Way too unbalanced into freaky monster territory if you ask me. Can't be good for one's health." Danny said.
The food monsters growled and charged at him like a pack of ravenous animals. A monster made of meat was first, but Danny punched it hard, disassembling it. A group of mashed potato creatures came in but Danny did a spin kick that splattered them. One of the food monsters, made from some mystery meat, grabbed one of the tables and threw it, but Danny went intangible and flew through it, right at the monsters, punching it hard enough to send it flying and splatter it across the walls.
The spaghetti creature shot out its noodle limbs, but Danny grabbed them and pulled them, untangling it and only leaving a single meatball with an eye. Danny still had the noodles and used it to tie up several food creatures. He then grabbed the remaining meatball from the spaghetti monster and kicked it like a soccer ball at a tied up group of food monsters, splattering them. Danny then kicked of a wall, flew at great speed at another group and shot through them, shattering them to pieces.
The turkey monster skittered forwards and lashed with its bony sharp limbs, which Danny avoided. Danny was snuck up from behind, but Danny felt it coming. He grabbed one of the bony limbs of the turkey creature and pulled it off. As the turkey monster screamed in pain, Danny stabbed it in the throat of the monster behind him, the meat creature turning into a pile of inanimate meat, before Danny pulled it out and stabbed it through its owner, the turkey monster being impaled through its vertical mouth.
"Oh, that was a nice display of combat. However…ANY ADMIRATION IS CLOUDED BY MY SHEER ANGER!" the Lunch Lady said, switching emotions rapidly again.
"Why are you threatening this school?" Danny asked.
"I used to work here when I was alive." The Lunch Lady was neither in super sweet or super psycho mode. Just soft spoken and resentful. "I broke my back to feed these brats. Using the limited resources that those stingy teachers provided while they pocketed the money for the food budget. Despite being unable to do anything about it, I still did my best to make something edible. But those spoiled brats didn't appreciate my work and got mad at me, while they should be mad at the higher ups in charge of the money. And I was the one to take the fall when these practices came to light as I am the lunch lady after all. A lifetime of hard work to be discarded like spoiled milk."
"These are not the same people whom did that, these are new generations." Danny said.
"True…the ones whom tormented me are dead too, and long gone. But the school as it is nowadays hasn't become much better. Teachers showing favoritism, bully jocks…I still need to tear this school down." Lunch Lady said.
"I recognize you've been hurt in the past. And for that I'm sorry. But that's no reason to lash out and hurt people. This is not the way. And while I admit that several people here are…flawed, but they don't deserve it. And I will protect them." Danny swore.
"Then you'll be cut up and diced alongside them and served COLD AS THE DISH OR REVENGE IT WILL BE!" Lunch Lady shot forward with her knife and cleaver out. She started to swipe at Danny, whom barely dodged the swipes. For someone so big she should sure move fast.
Danny flew aside as the cleaver cut a table in half. Danny kicked one of the halves at her, but forgot she was a ghost too and she phased through it. She nearly got him with her knife, but Danny felt a sting on his cheek. He looked in the reflective surface of a lunch tray to see a small cut. Ok, the knives are ghostly too and can hurt him. Danny got serious. He kept dodging the swiped that came from her deadly kitchen tools. She eventually decided on a double overhead swipe as she though she had Danny cornered. However, Danny phased into the ground, and the weapons missed. Danny shot from the ground and landed with his feet on her wrists. She screamed in pain as she let go of her weapons. Danny then delivered a punch that sent her flying, out of the cafeteria and school and out in the open. Danny caught up and was ready to continue the fight.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
There were still other ghostly food monsters running rampant. Tucker and Sam observed the chaos. "You know, the foods are a lot bigger this way and that one meatball is now equivalent to twenty meatballs…" Tucker said as she smacked his lips.
"You think that it's a good idea to take a bite out of a piece of meat infected with the powers of a psycho lunch lady ghost?" Sam asked. Tucker looked pensive. Sam found he did way too long to reply. "Tucker!"
"What? Still thinking!" Tucker noted.
"You and your bloody meat addiction. You should expand that diet of yours." Sam said.
"Hey I'm find with you not eating meat, don't bother feeding me your fake meat." Tucker noted.
"That's not what I meant. Would it hurt you to eat a vegetable?" Sam said.
"Yes. I have a bowel condition and plants give me the runs." Tucker noted.
"That's a lie and you know it." Sam said. They heard a roar as the monstrous meatball had heard their arguing. "Discuss food preferences later, run now!"
"That I can agree on!" Tucker said as they ran. "Shame none of these monsters are mechanical, I could have hacked them!"
"Well, we need something different…" Sam said as they ran. Sam saw something in the distance and a thought came to mind. "Idea!" Sam grabbed a fire hydrant of the wall as she was running, pulled out the pin, and turned around; She shot the foam inside the gaping maw of the meatball monster. It started to gurgle as it was filled with the foam and started to swell up…Until it exploded and its meaty remnants splattered everywhere.
"Good one, Sam!" Tucker said.
"Ew…I'm covered in meat." Sam groaned.
"I kind of like it." Tucker picked off some meat from his t-shirt with his finger and brought it to his mouth.
"Don't even think about it!" Sam growled. Tucker dropped the meat on his finger on the ground with a pout.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Danny continued his fight with the Lunch Lady, who now wielded a giant meat tenderizer she used as a war hammer. Danny dodged the swipes of the dangerous weapon. She did an overhead smash, but Danny phased into the ground. But then Lunch Lady thrusted it forward as Danny popped up again. "Nice try, dearie…But I won't fall for the same trick twice. NOW PREPARE TO BE TENDERIZED!" She delivered another swipe of her hammer which sent Danny flying. Danny spat out green blood as he wiped his mouth and got up. Lunch Lady jumped in with her tenderizing mallet again. But Danny swiftly shot forward and punched her in the gut, knocking her back.
She used her mallet to anchor herself so she wasn't sent flying again. "Aw, we shouldn't be doing this dearie. You're a ghost just like me. You shouldn't be caring about these mortals."
"I am not a ghost like you. I care for other people. I don't become consumed by revenge, to the point that it blinds me, that the pain of the innocent is ignored. The past treatment towards you doesn't justify anything, you've become as bad as the people tormenting you."
"HOW DARE YOU! I AM GOING TO SERVE YOU A MENU OF PAIN, SEASONED BY TORMENT AND WITH CONDIMENTS OF OBLIVION!" Lunch Lady said as she charged in again with her tenderizer mallet. "I am going to crush and pulverize you to the point you'll not be able to reconstitute yourself, and then I am going to personally crush every single person at this school, puree them and serve them as a spread."
"Not while I'm around." Danny said. He avoided the swipes, he remained focused. Because if he didn't, many would get hurt. He thought about Dash. While he was a jerk, he didn't want him dead. He thought of others…Sam and Tucker. They didn't deserve the Lunch Lady's wrath. He would fight. He saw opening, his fist glowed green and he delivered a more powerful punch to her chin. As she staggered, he delivered another one, and another one, and kept piling them on. He didn't give time for her to fight back.
However, as he was about to deliver the next blow, he was grabbed from behind. Another one of her food monsters. And he wasn't alone as they dogpiled him. Keeping him in place. "Now, that wasn't very nice. Why don't you sit still…" the Lunch Lady said sweetly as she raised her mallet. "SO I CAN MAKE MINCEMEAT OUT OF YOU!"
Before she could bring the hammer down, something screeched and flew at her, and she screamed as it tackled her in the face. She felt being clawed it and swatted. But the creature was already gone. "What was…" and then she was hit by an energy bolt and knocked back.
Then Danny, trying to get ten pounds of meat monsters off him, felt his load lighten as more energy bolts blasted the monsters pinning him down apart. He looked up to see the cavalry has arrived.
"Is everything clear?" a woman in a blue bodysuit and red goggles asked.
"Yes, the school has been evacuated, no one else is around." A young girl with blue eyes and long red hair said.
"Oof, that's fine, now we can speak openly." A large man with black hair with a white streak and blue eyes said.
"Fine then…" the woman pulled the hood and goggled of her head, showing reddish brown hair and violet eyes. "Daniel David Fenton! What are you thinking going up against a ghost on your own!"
"I had to, mom. I had to hold her off waiting for you." Danny said.
"We allowed you to return to school to live a normal life, this is not something we wanted you to get caught up in. You got hurt enough because…" Danny's mother, Maddie, looked sad. "Because of us and our ghost obsession."
"I made the stupid mistake to go in the portal." Danny said. "And I couldn't just stand by while that ghostly woman hurts people. You wouldn't either."
"He's right, we wouldn't." the large man, Danny's father said.
"It is not supposed to be you. This is our job. Our job to deal with ghosts and to protect our children, and I already failed in one of those." Danny's mom said. "Our obsession led to the creation of the portal, and we made you feel like you came second, spurning the anger in you that caused to seek it out. I could have lost you then, and I can't bear to lose you again."
"Who knows, I'm half ghost, maybe I can't die." Danny said.
"Not helping your case, young man." Maddie said.
"Well, I'm not a bystander. If I see someone in need, I help. Just like you. And I admired you for that. Despite some bad things I may have said in anger, that hasn't changed. And I still love you. Remember as a kid, you both told me that I could be anything I set my mind to. While I have ways to go in terms of going into space, I can still become a hero. To protect people." Danny said.
"You know, we can't shelter him forever. He's a Fenton. And Fenton's don't back down. It's a family trait. People would call it stupidity or stubbornness…and to a degree they may be right. But I like to think of it as determination." Danny's father Jack said. "We did help him train to get a hold of a bit of his powers for the past month, he was doing pretty well before we arrived."
"I didn't teach him to seek fights, just in case of emergencies, so he wouldn't get himself hurt." Maddie said.
"I know that too sweetheart. But no matter how hard we try, there is always going to be danger. And with his new powers…best we can do is make sure he is supported so he can fight his battles when the time comes." Jack said.
"All right then…" Maddie said as she pulled something out and handed it to Danny. "Take the Fenton Thermos. Finish the fight with her. Me and your dad will take care of the remaining food monsters, so that she can't call for backup."
"Wait, you hadn't perfected this one yet…Or have you?" Danny asked.
"We have been tinkering with it, but the one way to make sure it works is a field test." Jack explained. "Now give her a good Fenton-style fanny-whooping, son."
"I will." Danny said with a smile. "I promise I'll win, and end her threat." He said as he flew off.
"Be careful…as much as you can be." Maddie said. "Now, Jazz…you can either go to safety or…"
"You know, I never thought I would indulge in the family business but…" Danny's sister grabbed a blaster from her parents. "I'm more like Danny then I thought."
"Oi. Did we miss something?" the voice of Tucker sounded as he and Sam arrived on the scene. "Where's Danny?"
"He continues fighting that Lunch Lady. And…we have decided that we can let him be the hero. At least with us all supporting him, we can make things easier for him." Maddie explained.
"That's good at least." Sam said.
"Why do you smell like meatballs?" Jazz asked.
"Ran into one of those food monsters. Destroyed it with an extinguisher." Sam explained.
"What?" the Fentons asked.
"They may be animated by ghostly power but they are not ghosts themselves, they are still solid objects so I sprayed it till it 'sploded." Sam said.
Jack whistled as if impressed. "Please marry my son." Maddie noted.
"What?" Sam asked.
"Knowing how close those two are, it'll only be a matter of time." Tucker added.
"What?" Sam asked.
"You are in the secret, we may need to consider training you too so Danny won't have to worry for his friends too much. But knowing how you handled yourself, you may catch up quickly." Maddie said.
"Or at least Sam, Tucker would need a bit of meat on his bones to get rid of his nerdy noodle limbs." Jack added.
"What?" Tucker asked.
"Let's blast some ghosts!" Maddie said as she readied her cannon. "I want through an emotional turmoil just now and I want to vent."
"You're hot when you're emotional." Jack said. The food monsters, though limited in sentience still were able to feel a chill up where their equivalent of a spine should be.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN TO QUIT, DO YOU LITTLE BRAT? I AM SLICING AND DICING YOU AND SERVE YOU IN A STEW. You want some salad with that?" the flip-flopping Lunch Lady ranted as she failed to hit Danny with her tenderizer mallet.
"It's about time we end this." Danny said as he pulled out the thermos.
"Oh? What are you going to do? Splash me with hot soup?" Lunch Lady asked. Danny just aimed the thermos, but it fizzled out. The Lunch Lady laughed. "Hah! Equipment doesn't work like it should? Better hope you never date someone in the future…" the Lunch Lady said as she readied herself.
"Well, still doesn't work like it should." Danny said as he jumped back to avoid the swipe. "Guess I'll beat on her some more until I get an idea." Danny jumped back in and after avoiding more swipes from the mallet he realized he had to get rid of it. He phased back into the ground.
"Get back here! The trick only will work once, no sense trying to pop out like a weasel." Lunch Lady kept looking down at the ground to look for our hero.
However, Danny had played smarter then that. He popped out behind a tree where she could see him. Then he flew up, and then shot straight down, slamming into her from above when her focus was on the ground. Then he grabbed the tenderizing mallet…which was heavy even for him, and used it against her, whacking her in the stomach with it. "How do you like a taste of your own food."
"A bit heavy." Lunch Lady whined as she clutched her stomach in pain. Danny swung the mallet again, and Lunch Lady summoned a different weapon. It was an egg beater which spun like a drill. And when both weapons clashed, they both broke apart. Danny uses the momentum of the swing the transition into a spin kick, his foot covered in ghostly energy and whacked her in the face, the sound of a jaw breaking could be heard. Then Danny charged energy in both his fists and did a double uppercut to knock her back.
Danny looked at his glowing hands. He was channeling ghostly energies. And then he got an idea. "Hope this works…" Danny said as he pulled out the thermos again. The ghostly energies in his hands were channeled into the device, which sparked to life and a beam came out.
"Huh?" the Lunch Lady, still dazed didn't have time to dodge the blast as it hit. And she felt being pulled in. "What is this? I can't break free…NOOOOOOOOOO!" Her physical form couldn't sustain itself due to the strain, she dispersed into a ghostly cloud which was sucked into the thermos. Danny put the cap on and closed it.
Then he dropped on his knees panting. "Oof…that was tiring. But not bad for a first rodeo." He chuckled softly as he turned back into his human form.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The remaining Fentons had been blasting food monsters left and right, but suddenly the foods regressed back into the original non-living forms. "Danny must have done it." Maddie said happily.
"I knew he could do it. He's a chip of the old block." Jack said happily.
"You are pretty good with a blaster." Sam complimented Jazz.
"Growing up in a household like ours it was a requirement. But for someone whom never held a weapon, you held your own." Jazz noted.
"I actually play a lot of online shooters. Am pretty good at it. Danny and Tucker don't know I am the mysterious player whom keeps ending their streaks." Sam said with an impish smile.
"If you weren't already my brother's girl, I'd marry you myself." Jazz noted.
"Wait, what?" Sam asked.
"Oof, glad that's over with!" Tucker said as he came from his hiding place. "After this I don't think I'll be eating meat again…for a little while. Oh, whom am I kidding? Whom wants to grab a burger after this?" Tucker said. Sam facepalmed.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"The Phantom?" Danny asked.
"No one has recorded it but there were lots of eyewitnesses. This blog calls you the Phantom." Tucker explained. "Simple but effective."
"That's funny because when I designed the symbol, it was DP for Danny Phantom…because Fenton, Phantom? It was punny." Sam said.
"Well it could be worse, I could be stuck with 'Inviso-Bill' or something." Danny said. "Though while I don't do it for the recognition, a little bit of acknowledgement is nice." Danny said.
"Some people still don't believe in the ghost thing. Either because they think Amity Park is a perfect town, it goes in against their scientific, spiritual or religious beliefs, or they are just delusional like a Flat Earther." Tucker said.
"You think that Lunch Lady was a one time thing? That there are only those smaller blob ghosts left your parents normally deal with?" Sam asked.
"I don't think so. I think there may be others out there. And I have a feeling they are worse then her. And they're already dead, can't destroy them, just kick them back into the Ghost Zone." Danny sighed. "At least I'm not alone."
"I guess telling your family from day one was the right choice after all. You seem to have been able to make up nicely." Sam sighed. "Wish I could see eye to eye with my parents like that."
"Sorry to hear, they're something all right." Tucker said.
"Though in my alter ego I can't be seen with them in public. Other ghost hunters like the Guys In White would go after them and me so we'll have to be careful. But I'm glad to have their support. As well as yours, you're the best friends I can ask for."
"Remember when we all first met? Friends forever. The three musketeers, the Trio, the Trinity, forever!" Tucker said.
"Your mom promised to train me and Tucker to insure a bit of safety for us both, and some more support for you." Sam said.
"While I may like to see their technology and supercomputer up close, hyped in fact…your mom promised us physical training as well. I saw the training schedule. The schedule from hell…I'm made to tech, not work out."
"Hey, it would be good for your health and life. Besides, girls may dig someone both brains and brawn." Sam said.
"Using my weaknesses against me, heh? I guess for the chicks, and more important Danny, I can deal with a few sit-ups and pull-ups." Tucker said.
The three of them laughed. They needed this bit of relief. Their adventures have just started. But at least they'll be able to face them together.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
In the Ghost Zone, someone took a look at his pocket watch and closed it up. "It seems the boy has a bright future ahead. If he is supported well. While friends and family can do a lot, every bit helps. Can I count on you?"
From a nearby perch, a ghostly bird, an owl to be precise looked on. He had observed Danny and briefly came to the rescue of the young man. And he had the rest in hand. It let out a joyful screech.
"Of course I knew you were going to say that. It's just polite to ask. Just like it's good form to repay the kindness he showed you before." The ghost said as he looked at several clocks in his wall, which started to show events of things to come. Some good, some bad, but always hopeful.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sam searched the web. Danny, becoming the ghost hero of Amity Park, will draw a lot of attention. Not always good. She had promised to stand by him. And that's what she'll do. She will do anything in her power. Training with the Fentons was a certainty, if she can fight better, the less she'll be a burden to her friend.
But she could also help with research. While Tucker is the tech guy, she herself could do research in different ways. Typing in 'ghosts', 'supernatural' and 'occult' in the search engine of the website she visited, she planned on racking up quite a bill for the books she'll order. Luckily she's rich. She expected half of these books to be superstition, but if there is a grain of truth in any of them, she'll take that risk.
She now looked into one of the occult books she had delivered earlier this week. They had spell circles. Protection, containment and more. Would those really work? Or mere superstition like she expects? Oh well, she loves drawing…she inspired Danny's suit with her design. So maybe she could try to draw that circle and see what happens.

"Phantom, eh?" someone asked. The rumors came from Amity Park. A town where normally not a lot happened. But he kept tabs because some old friends lives there. Or a former friend and a love stolen from him. He wonders if there was a connection. "Best to watch and see…a few tests are in order." The mysterious man turned to his own lab, with a portal of his own. While the Fentons would keep a close look on what may sneak out their own portal, that doesn't mean there weren't any other portals from which ghosts could come. He had a feeling what he would learn about this Phantom would prove to be…interesting.
NOTES
I wanted to try this since I was a fan of the show as a young teen. Unlike my other projects I don't expect a second chapter but I don't mark it as complete as you may never know.
I hope this is a good take on it.
I make some other refs to other Nick shows and also to some scrapped concepts, can any of you catch them all?
