She had never felt rage like that. Not since she was not turned into Edogawa Christie. Not that she remembers that kind of rage. But the taste and smell of that rage were all too familiar to her. It was as if she needed that kind of rage in her as support.
She had slept well that night.
It was as if all the rage she had built over the past couple of weeks had been released. And she was free. Free from all her rage and everything that was bubbling inside of her. She felt safer and more secure in herself.
The next day.
Haibara was shaken at the sight of Shinichi. But Shinichi could tell that she quickly brushed off the fear and put up her façade of trying to incite
Then she went on to tell her sad tale of how she was the one who made the person who made her the way she is today. From this, she learned the name of the drug, APTX 4869. This girl had helped create and cultivate a drug that had killed other people, and she was merely lucky for what had happened to her and nothing else. The name was a pun on the name of Sherlock Holmes.
She barely listened to what the villain was saying. There was no remorse or emotion in her voice. She merely had a monotonous way of telling her what had happened. The casual story of how she also had a sister who was also in the organization Then she went on to tell her how her sister was murdered by the Oranization. She was not told how or why, only that she was not happy with this. But it was made very clear that her sister might actually be a decent human being and did not deserve to die. And that her sister was her link to her humanity and was the only thing keeping her that way.
Haibara's sister's death was the thing that was able to make her see the evil deeds that they were actually doing. What she had done. The people that they had killed and the deaths she was reasonable for. Haibara had been handcuffed by her own people after quitting and threatening to kill herself. They were likely unsure what to do with her because they would have felt betrayed by her. But she was also a scientist, and she was good at her job. She is very good at her job, and they needed her. But they were more than likely to kill or keep her locked up until she gave in and continued to do her job again.
Haibara had APTX 4869 in her pocket. And she decided that she had to take it, and she did. There was only one way out, and that was suicide. She killed her former self. But what this girl did not expect was to shrink and become what she is now.
She was told that the Black Organisation had searched the Kudo Manor twice to make sure that Kudo Shinichi was indeed dead. And how her parents were also members of the organisation. This just made things more complicated. This meant that there were generations within the black organisation and that they were all being groomed at a young age. Even from the womb, some of the members were born into this shadow business. This was more than that. This was a cult, and everyone would be devoted to the organisation. They would all think this was normal and that this would be normal to them.
She did not want to think that they would all be rotten to the core and be evil. She did not like people who were born evil but were made into it. But all she could feel from this girl was a cold heart and nothing else. She knew that she could use this girl. She said that they were using each other and that they were nothing more than each other. She knew that if things came to the worst, this girl would be more than happy to solve her under a truck. And leave her for the wolves to sew her own skin. She was even putting others here in danger just by being here.
But this was Agasa's house and his guest. So, there was nothing that she could do about it. That was until there was something here that needed to be done, then she could do it herself.
But then the girl started to talk about her sister, and that changed everything.
"With your powers of deduction, you could have easily seen through what she was up to! Then why...didn't you?"
Haibara said as she cried, breaking down to her knees as she clutched onto her and begged through her tears for the impossible. It was clear she had been in denial of her sister's murder and had not even begun to grieve.
"Why?"
Her trembling, crying voice had brought back memories of a sad and painful case that I had almost forgotten. That was probably the first time she showed her real self to me.
But they had met another dead end that night. literal and figurative. After solving a murder that night, they were able to obtain discs that were from the black organisation.
But as soon as the discs were put in the computer, Virus activated and destroyed everything on the computer and the discs. How stupid of them to not think of this before.
She could hear it now. Gin mocked whomever he thought looked that way, knowing that he had won that night and had gotten away. Again.
'Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer' is a quote from the infamous Sun Tzu. She was now going to be living for some time, knowing that she would have to be sleeping with one eye open. Maybe Ran could teach her some martial arts moves in the near future, as she had a feeling that she would need them.
