To The End

Chapter 44

You were all that mattered to me.

What we have is all we'd ever need.

When i got home. You were waiting for me in the entryway.

I smiled at the sight of you. I pulled you into my arms. Hugging you tightly.

When we pulled apart. My hand found its way to you're belly.

We decided to make our family a priority and that has yet to be a choice we are changing. If anything because of the pregnancy it brings back to the importance of what really matters.

We had a low key family night. Movies. Take out. Talking.

We enjoyed just being together and i never realized what a gift it was. To be at peace in a home with the people you loved most in the world.

At some point we found ourselves alone again.

Bailey in bed and us in our bedroom.

You putting away the latest pregnancy snapshot.

Before changing and climbing into bed beside me.

Once you fell asleep. I blocked Haley's cell number.

I had what i wanted so badly. And nothing was going to get in the way of that. I refused. I put my phone down before wrapping her in my arms safely.

...

Hours Later

In the kitchen at the breakfast table. Sausage links. Pancakes. Scrambled eggs. Mint and peppermint tea aroma in the air.

"You're a Scott. So is momma. And so will the new baby. I'm still a Davis. And i want to be a Scott too." Bailey announced.

Brooke sighed deeply. The expression on Lucas's face softened.

"You're my boy. We don't have to share a last name." Lucas reasured him.

"But i'm not going to feel like a real member of the family with a different last name. Why can't i change it.?" Bailey asked. Looking to both his parents.

Brooke reached out. Taking Bailey's hand in hers.

"In order for Lucas to adopt you and for there to be a name change. Felix would have to sign over his parental rights and he won't do that." Brooke explained.

"I hate him! He ruins everything!" Bailey exclaimed. Before storming off outside.

Brooke felt tears well up in her own eyes.

She was reminded in these moments how an impulsive decision could change you're life. If she had to do it over.

She would of never gotten involved with Felix.

"You head to the store. I'll handle this." Lucas reasured her.

Kissing her and hugging her goodbye.

Once Brooke had left.

Lucas looked around for Bailey. Only to find him in the backyard.

Tears falling from his eyes.

"I've got you son." Lucas stated matter of fact. Engulfing the boy into a hug.
