The Carousel Murders
Chapter One
It's been a little over two years since Gibbs had been back to NCIS and his friends. He had finished packing his things for the flight back to Washington, D.C., and the funeral of Doctor Donald Mallard.
It was a brisk cold day as Leroy Jethro Gibbs was catching the last of his trout and other species to be placed into the freezer. His next-door neighbor some twenty minutes away will be able to store them in the white frig and the cellar.
He took a breather for the moment as his lungs were hurting somewhat. Gibbs had no idea just what it might be at the moment. But there was a good chance that he might have to look up a doctor at NCIS asking him to take x-rays and other tests to find out why.
Looking up into the grey clouds. He was heading back to his cabin while waiting for John his neighbor to arrive. His flight wasn't for another five hours. Having to be somewhat tired, this is going to give him a chance to sleep a little inside the two-story cabin and on the plane.
Moments later in his grey Jeep. Gibbs arrived at the cabin with his neighbor waiting for him to be a stroke of luck...
Six o'clock at night
Coney Island Amusement Park has to be closed for the winter. An older security officer rode through the park to make his usual checks. It was almost dark now as the lights had turned on inside the amusement park.
Sergeant Jeffries with the police department retired the last five years and had been working security for a private company in the Bronx.
He was to check the carousel having been shut down for the winter. It was his job to check for anything out of the ordinary. He will stop at the main entrance of the carousel. He was wearing his heavy parka for this evening as the forecast calls for colder temperatures.
He had gotten out of his Blue Ranger jeep along with pulling out his flashlight that was sitting inside the glove department.
Just as Jeffries had gotten out of the Blue Ranger. He will hear gunshots go off three times. His breathing had quickened somewhat as he started to run towards the gunshots.
There was silence for the moment as Jeffries began to search with his flashlight. He only would find the following ...
Blood stains on the cement and a body underneath one of the carousel rides. It was a male who had been shot in the head, chest, and torso...
"OMG!" he cried out with his response.
Right away he pulled out his walkie-talkie to call his command center and the local police to begin some sort of an investigation with the body having been found by him.
He needed to find out whether the body that was shot had some sort of I.D. on him to tell the police. He had placed on his blue gloves to not disturb any of the possible prints. He was able to pull out an I.D. card telling him he was with the Navy as a communications officer Jake Morrison on board the cruiser U.S.S. Donaldson.
"I can't believe this!" he cries out with his response as the killer had gotten away with the murder.
He had to wait now for everyone to show up. While he tries to calm down for the moment...
Lauren's Bar & grill
An older man in his forties having run somewhat of a mile from the Coney Island, carousel, and the security officer. He catches his breath outside the bar & grill while needing to wash up before eating and drinking after his latest kill. He has already killed once before inside the park's carousel for Playland in Rye, New York called the Dragon Coaster.
After a moment while looking up into the darkened skies. It was supposed to be with light rain. However, it was a calm evening as he walked into the bar with opened the front wooden door.
Walking in, he was able to see there were empty spaces at the bar and four tables. But first, he needed to use the men's room for which he asked the male bartender in his thirties for where it might be.
A few moments later he walks into the very clean men's room as if the cleaning people had finished their work a few hours ago.
He turns on the hot water by touching the soap dispenser to soap up his bruised hands from the murder at the coaster.
Breathing hard he started to sweat once again while needing to calm down his heart. Afterwards having finished washing and drying along with combing his black hair with checked the clean mirror. However, he didn't realize that a few strains of hair had fallen with him noticing.
He decided that he was now ready to head back into the bar area for a few drinks and food having to be hungry.
Captain Jon Mitchell of the Coney Island police department and his crime scene unit had been working the scene only to find out after talking to the witness that the corpse was a service officer. With this fact, Captain Mitchell needed to call the local NCIS office and the director of NCIS in Washington.
Captain Mitchell checked the body for the final time as he needed to save all of the evidence for the coroner. Sergeant Jeffries with the department for the past five years at the crime scene department. He came over with finding a piece of evidence having to be a piece of material that needed to be examined.
Scratching his slight grey hair came over to Captain Mitchell with the piece of material that he was able to find. "What are we to do, sir with this evidence?" he asked calmly.
Captain Mitchell turns to face him. "I am going to call NCIS to take over the case since the corpse was a service officer for the Navy," he advised with a lump in his throat.
