The late night rain batters against the moving train.
Hurtling at speeds greater than any car, yet not making a single sound to its passengers.
A sole man wanders between the cars looking to get one last stretch in before he reaches his final destination, and can return home.
The train passes through a tunnel. The roar of thunder could be heard developing in the sky.
He knew he was in for a poor night's rest in his apartment.
"Now approaching, Seattle…"
As the train exits the tunnel, the man stops in the second-to-last car, empty save for one passenger.
The lights were dim in this car due to faulty wiring. He could barely make out the person's silhouette.
It seemed to be a woman. She was carrying a military grade leather bag, and reeked of sea sludge.
A good samaritan seeking nothing but answers to help, he stepped in front of the woman and extended his hand, "Ummm…hey. Are you alright?"
Like a wraith, the woman raised her head.
Lightning roared in the distance and a flash exposed her face.
Bangs muddy and hung over, her whole outfit dirty and torn, dried seaweed on her skin.
Braces were wrapped around her knees that didn't look like anything made in the modern day.
But it was her eyes…
Her eyes were grimy, sullen, focused…
And full of hate. So much hate.
The man backed away slowly, stumbling as the train ground to a halt at the station.
The woman picked up the bag over her shoulders and exited the train, slipping away into the grungy subway under the cover of the glitching ceiling lights.
The sounds of thunder continued to grow stronger…
Chapter 45: Last Call
"Master…?" Remarked S.A.N.C.T.U.M., breaking the dullness of his flight towards the city.
"What's up?" Lunalei answered, deep in thought.
"You were silent for a while. I was…simply offering my concern." There was discontent in the robot's voice.
"...Hmm. I'm fine. In fact, I've never felt better."
"I see…"
"What's up with you?"
"...I do not know, honestly. I am…immature when it comes to describing this sort of feeling."
"Hey," Lunalei took a blunt tone, "If this is going to compromise the mission, then you better let me know now, S.A.N.C.T.U.M."
"No…No…I don't think it will, Master Lunalei." He tried to raise the pep in his voice, but he simply couldn't get far.
"..." Lunalei chose to brush off this matter and focus on the tracker's location, "I knew they wouldn't be able to sniff this out. The crate's been moving around all over the place in the underground tunnels for the past week, but now…they've finally settled on securing it in another warehouse district on the far North side of Seattle."
"Then are we to presume the 'White Devil' will be there?"
"So far he's avoided direct confrontation with us. I think that'll end tonight. They can only have so many super powered individuals among their ranks, otherwise they would've been trying to take over the world by force, instead of using all this subterfuge."
"That is presuming that their forces aren't spread around the world…"
"..."
"I am still…perplexed by what the Valkyrie said about you, Master. That you had tried to foil their efforts in-"
"Save it S.A.N.C.T.U.M., it's not important." Lunalei said slowly and bluntly.
"...It doesn't matter if it's the 'White Devil' or a new enemy. They WILL be stopped."
"Just…" Melancholy entered her creation's voice, only for him to rescind his remark, "...Never mind. I will do as you ask, Master Lunalei."
"Good. For now, just focus on barometrics. This thunderstorm is pretty nasty."
The thunder grew louder as they finally arrived at the city near the warehouse district. They locked onto Mark's heat signature and landed behind him atop a nearby building.
"Good, you made it." Lunalei addressed him casually as per usual.
Mark turned around and had a hint of ire in his eyes as he approached them, finishing off a smoke by flicking the cigar off the side of the building, "So…this is it? Are you SURE?"
He was copping a bit of an attitude that put Lunalei in a bad mood as she answered, "The only thing I know for sure is that the tracking device hasn't been destroyed, which means no matter how you look at it, the enemy is here. Either guarding the crate, or baiting us into another trap."
Mark slanted his brows and rubbed the back of his head, a disgruntled sigh exiting his lips as he turned back around and faced the edge of the building.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M. floated over while Lunalei had him run visuals on the warehouse. All they could sense was one life signature inside. But after the stuff their enemy had pulled…that wasn't a guarantee.
"One hostile…" She murmured cautiously.
Mark pointed out, "They probably don't see any point in bothering with the rank and file soldiers anymore."
"...Or maybe they've been scared by word of you…" He tried to slip that under his breath. Wasn't going to happen.
"Do you have something to say, officer?" Lunalei said directly.
Mark tucked his hands into his pockets and his heart rate was going up slowly.
"...Forget it." He said in a gruff, somber tone.
"..." Lunalei then started to position S.A.N.C.T.U.M. off the side with one last remark of, "We're heading in. Stand by."
"Right…" Mark said in a dismissive tone.
Lunalei focused squarely on the mission before her. S.A.N.C.T.U.M. stood at the front of the warehouse, the giant doors inviting her into what she presumed was the final battle with the enemy.
Just to be safe, she double-checked all her scanners and made sure the tracker still gave off a signal.
"...Let's end this." She gave the call, and S.A.N.C.T.U.M. entered Swordmaster Mode to slice through the door and head inside.
"I know you're in here," Lunalei announced at the first moment presented to her, "No more games. Come out of whatever shadows you're hiding in so I can end this!"
"Master, calm down…" S.A.N.C.T.U.M.'s worries were unfounded. The only thing that fired her up right now was justice.
The machine took a moment to personally observe his surroundings. The warehouse seemed to have only been recently vacated save for the object they were after.
It should've been easy to see their enemy, and yet…
Mark stood by on the outside, using a pair of binoculars to zoom in on S.A.N.C.T.U.M.'s advance.
The thunder continued to roar, and the rain made it difficult to see clearly.
"Haaa…" He sighed heavily, leaning into the rooftop with his whole body feeling stiff, "What are you going to do next…?"
He should've spoken up while he had the chance. But he was scared.
Who wouldn't be?
"...Damn it!" As he cursed his fate, he saw a flash like lightning, except it did not come from above…
The hairs on the back of his neck began to rise and crackle, with the metal surrounding the building rattling like it was frightened.
"W-What the hell…?" As she began to turn to the right to check things out, he flinched at the sight of a figure positioned on the edge of another rooftop, wielding what appeared to be a massive cannon overfilled with electricity.
And it was aimed at…
"...!" Mark grit his teeth and hastily tapped the communicator in his ear to shout, "GET OUT OF THERE, IT'S AN AMBUSH!"
The remark was overpowered by intense static over the line, but the message came across clear enough as all of a sudden S.A.N.C.T.U.M. 's voltage sensors went into overdrive.
"Shit…!" Lunalei forced him to spin around and put him in a full view shot of an overwhelming, pure white lance firing from up high.
Within seconds the electricity hit the warehouse and ruptured the front half into oblivion.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M. barely escaped from the devastation using Pursuit Mode, and as the roaring thunderclap settled down from the aftermath he looked dead ahead to see their attacker.
Lunalei felt cold.
It was the other Valkyrie, half-dead and grime ridden, with a gaze that could cut through diamonds aimed straight at her.
Tied to her back…was her sister's corpse, with the last lance of lightning plunged into the cavity S.A.N.C.T.U.M. had carved out to deliver the killing blow.
The moment after their eyes had locked, the Valkyrie raised her makeshift cannon and began charging another shot.
"HOLD STILL AND DIE!" She screamed bloodily as another blast ripped free, the recoil shattering the edge of the rooftop and the windows down the building.
"MASTER!" S.A.N.C.T.U.M. screamed as their connection weakened.
Lunalei's heart skipped a beat and she locked back into place just in time to help S.A.N.C.T.U.M. spiral around the lightning lance and then lunge straight at their target.
"How is this-"
"Save the questions! She's lost her goddamn mind!" Lunalei screamed with fury as her creation closed in and tried to punch the Valkyrie with the full force of his momentum.
The Valkyrie zipped back onto another rooftop and immediately took aim, electricity spewing from her body like a wire that had been punctured.
"Die…! DIE DIE DIE! GO TO HELL YOU BITCH!" The Valkyrie's roar was more nauseating than the thunder that ripped free from her cannon.
And at this angle, dodging it would only cause the building below to be obliterated.
"Grrr…S.A.N.C.T.U.M., put everything you've got into your leg, now!"
The four separate gravity field points converged behind his right leg and he fired off a mighty kick into the front of the lance that nearly tore his joints clean off.
But at least they managed to send the attack into the sky.
"Putting the city in danger like this…We need to stop her, pronto!" Lunalei declared.
She refocused S.A.N.C.T.U.M. 's gravity fields and propelled forward after the enemy, who continued to flee across the rooftops while charging up another shot.
But this time Lunalei had S.A.N.C.T.U.M. push a little further at the last second to grab the Valkyrie by the face and slam them into the rooftop, forcing their shot to fire into the sky again.
The roar of thunder in the air got louder, and S.A.N.C.T.U.M. trembled under the electricity surging into his body.
"T-This voltage is going haywire, Master…! I-I can barely feel my functions keeping up…"
From the readings Lunalei got on her end, the Valkyrie's electricity was steadily rising in intensity over time.
"...Without her twin, she has no one to complete the loop."
Lunalei then shouted, "S.A.N.C.T.U.M, you need to apply more pressure and end this quickly!"
"I-I…Master, you can't be serious. Surely there is…"
"I'm the smarter one! I'm giving the orders! And I've already weighed the costs! It's either her, or you let her rampage throughout the city!"
"T-That's right…! KILL ME! You murderer! You COWARD!" The Valkyrie screamed, her eyes as feral as the primal beasts, "My sister…my sister…YOU TOOK THE WORLD FROM ME!"
Lunalei shouted back, "You made your choice when you cast aside your futures to become terrorists!"
"SHUT UUUUUUUUUPPP!" The Valkyrie slammed her cannon into S.A.N.C.T.U.M.'s gut and fired.
Were it not for a last minute adjustment to the boosters to roll out of the way mid-air, he would've been pierced.
The Valkyrie continued vaulting away across the rooftops, caring not for the potential casualties the shockwaves from her attacks would leave in her wake.
"S.A.N.C.T.U.M., I am NOT going to repeat myself! End this now, or innocent people will DIE!"
"T-There has to be another way than to-"
"Khhh…!" Lunalei ran the calculations through her head real quick while in pursuit, "I'm giving you a little extra time and that's it. At least try to divert her away from the city…"
S.A.N.C.T.U.M met the Valkyrie on a lone rooftop and threw a punch that hit the side of their cannon and pushed them to the edge.
Gritting her teeth, the Valkyrie jumped back and landed on top of a moving train heading back into the city.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M pursued and managed to land on the same car in Swordmaster Mode.
The Valkyrie raised their cannon with tears bleeding out of their eyes in excess.
"Khhh…!" Her hands shook, electricity flying out of their body and disturbing the condition of the tracks and the train itself.
As the train was forced to a stop she jumped all the way over to the top of the Space Needle and put the machine dead in her sights to fire.
Lunalei quickly shifted to Pursuit Mode and used a burst of momentum from that combination with the cutting power of Swordmaster Mode to slice the lance in twine.
Then one more burst from Pursuit Mode continued the escalating chase.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M weaved only assuming that the lances were not going to impact the city.
The roars of thunder in the sky grew louder, covering the intensity of this battle from the public ears.
The clouds got darker. The lightning raged on.
The Valkyrie had nothing left to give but her violent screams and every ounce of hate was poured into every shot.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M failed to meet his mark every step going forward, and the Valkyrie continued to scale ever higher into the city.
Merely letting her come in contact with the buildings blacked them out.
Her body came to resemble a generator overloaded, with electricity spewing from her roaring mouth and bolts frying through the flesh.
Lunalei regretted never stopping this mess back then when she had the chance.
She should've learned from Hamazaki that it would take more than a sinking ship to put these criminals down.
Finally, the battle positioned the Valkyrie at the highest possible point of the city, her electricity trailing down the building and spreading throughout the entire city to shut down anything that was still active.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M froze at the building below, "By the lords…"
Lunalei looked at the voltage being outputting and couldn't believe her eyes.
"Shit…! This is bad! If she builds up more electricity and overloads now, she's not going to black out the whole city…she's going to black out the whole state!"
S.A.N.C.T.U.M, in his desperation to take the ease off her stress, looked behind the Valkyrie to see a massive metal rod sticking up towards the sky.
"Wait, let me run some calculations. I think-"
"I gave you enough time!" Lunalei said in frustration, "We're lucky my dad and uncle are out of the state, but if this state wide EMP goes off they WILL find out! This has to end. NOW!"
"M-Master, please…let me do my job…" He pleaded.
"Your job is to bring justice to the world!" Lunalei affirmed, then with a deep growl uttered, "...Fine. I'll do it myself."
"No…not-"
"Activating Kill Mode."
S.A.N.C.T.U.M fell to silence and upon rebooting in his darkened state, immediately grabbed and wrenched up a nearby rod and flew up to the highest building.
The Valkyrie put everything they had into one final shot, but it never fired.
The rod speared through both cannon and warrior, discharging their electricity violently into her body alone.
But then the electricity reverberated into S.A.N.C.T.U.M and jolted his primary systems back online, only to then shunt his consciousness into an unknown space…
A storybook played out in crayons and pop-ups…
There were two girls born as twins, left alone to the fate of the world.
A kindly nun picked them up from their woven basket, and gave them hospitality and warmth within her church.
They found other sisters to call their own. They learned to take care of themselves. To be happy. To pray. To love life in all its forms.
The mother loved to make cream puffs of many flavors. The younger twin always smeared her face with cream from eating so much. The elder twin offered her habit to wipe it off.
They were adventurous. No height was too great for them to climb, even at the cost of the duress it put upon their mother.
One day, they went to scale the highest hills outside their home. It was a daring trip, a dark and stormy day threatened to turn the hills into mudslides.
But they dared the hill and staked their claim at the top, triumph marked by the sound of thunder and the glow of lightning.
But upon returning to their humble home, all they were met with was fire…and the smell of smoldering wood and stone.
They had given all their faith to the lord up high, and he rewarded them with the cruelty of death and destruction.
The younger twin cried, the devastation searing into her soul.
The elder twin hugged her, and learned of a greater love…and an even greater hate.
Her eyes forever glued to the heavens, she cursed the name of God, and swore to live a happy life in spite of his whims.
After burying the burnt and dead and paying their respects, the two girls set upon a wider world.
The skills they had developed under their mother's watchful eye ensured their survival, and let them blend into the crowds of strangers without flaw.
But they were only two girls without a place of origin, or even the means to be acknowledged by the world.
There was only so much food the eldest could scrounge up, and she sacrificed her dividends to her younger sister, just so she could smile another day.
When it seemed their crusade against God was but one step away from a descent into Hell, a stranger approached them, eyes pulsing with an azure glow.
"Do you seek paradise?" He asked, hand outstretched like a true, holy angel, "I can give you it, and plenty more."
The eldest offered both body and soul to the man's service, becoming bathed in holy flames that transformed her body anew.
Now she could command the very manifestation of her dread. Now she was the sole arbiter of her destiny.
As the ties to her sister were thicker than blood, so too, did she come to inherit this power.
Their crusade would continue, until the blasphemous hypocrite atop the ivory throne was brought to the ground and burned, screaming alive.
Their savior had his hands in every corner of the world, and reintegrated them into society. Gave them an education. Even let them fulfill every dream they wanted.
Inspired by her holy mother, the eldest sought the route of a teacher, to give back to the younger generation.
The youngest wanted to live a lavish life of laziness, but offered to cover for her sister whenever she pushed herself too hard.
Every day would end the same.
No matter where their travels took them, they would ride a train. Even if there was no destination awaiting them at the end, they enjoyed the unique sense of tranquility it offered.
The sunset was never more beautiful than it was in there.
The book flipped through every day over the course of 10 years, depicting the same image over and over.
Claire laid in her sister's lap, and drifted off into sleep as her sister rubbed her head, and thanked her for all she did.
Every day, this same image…
Until all that was left was her bitterly crying, carting the corpse of her sister in a dirty bag on her lap, the moon and rain spoiling the beauty of everything that came before it.
The storybook closed, after which S.A.N.C.T.U.M. rebooted and let out a gasping sound.
"S-.U.M…! Can…he-...S.A.N.C.T.U.M.!" His master's voice finally broke through layers of static, and he looked ahead to see his hands raised, covered in dried blood and ash that was quickly washed off by the pouring rain.
He slowly looked up and confirmed his worst fears.
The Valkyrie was truly gone. Reduced to nothing more than a charred black skeleton that would disappear into the sky with the lightest gust of wind.
The storm still raged on, but only be nature's own guiding hand.
S.A.N.C.T.U.M. stared at his hand and shivered, "W-What…was that…?"
"S.A.N.C.T.U.M., you went offline for a moment, is everything ok?" Lunalei said with genuine concern.
"Master did you not…did you not see that?"
"See what?" Lunalei asked sincerely.
"I-I…I don't…know…it was as if I was…drifting through her memories…"
"...That's impossible. She's organic, your consciousness should only be able to drift into other technology."
"I…I…" S.A.N.C.T.U.M. continued to express genuine fear simply by being forced to gaze upon his dirtied hands, "What have we done…?"
Lunalei took a deep breath and told him positively, "...We saved the city. Heck, we saved the whole state."
"...Of course, this whole distraction probably let the White Devil get away with the supply crate…Assuming he was even in the warehouse to begin with."
It was hard to gauge the motives behind this whole encounter, whether Dregs knew the Valkyrie was still alive, or if this act of retaliation disrupted both parties' plans.
Either way, the tracker gave off no signal now. They were back to square one all over again…
"Shit…!" Lunalei grunted, having S.A.N.C.T.U.M. turn around so she could quickly assess the damages.
The city was regaining power one district at a time, and it didn't seem like the damage to the rooftops would be hard to clean up.
But then she was left wondering if Mark made it out unscathed, "Let's hurry back."
"...Ok…" He slowly levitated back to the officer's location. He was still on top of the building, shaken but unharmed.
He rubbed the back of his head and let out a disgruntled sigh, "...What happened up there?"
"The Valkyrie will no longer get in our way. But that's not important-"
"Of course not…" Mark mumbled.
"What did you say?" Lunalei bluntly retorted.
Mark raised his head with a glare and then kept his mouth shut.
Lunalei paused for a few moments before remarking, "What is important is that the enemy got away with the supplies again. Did you see anybody enter or exit the damaged warehouse?"
"N-No…?" Mark was taken aback, "I was trying to keep an eye on you, in case something went wrong!"
"Idiot! There's nothing you could've done to help us, you should've been focusing on the primary target!"
Mark grit his teeth tightly and S.A.N.C.T.U.M. turned around, Lunalei letting off a venting remark of, "What the hell is wrong with you…"
She turned back upon hearing a gun click, with Mark the one holding it, shaking from head to toe.
"...Are you insane?" Lunalei muttered.
"You…you should be under arrest right now…" Mark said, gulping with fear, but holding on with determination.
An act which Lunalei would respect…if this bravery wasn't foolheartedly aimed at her.
"I repeat…are you insane?! Maybe this whole ordeal has gotten to your head, but in case you forgot, I am on YOUR side!"
"The side of the law?" Mark scoffed, then grit his teeth and mustered up the courage to shout at her, "You murdered two people right before my eyes! And how can I even be certain those were only your first kills?!"
Lunalei gasped, unleashing a growl over how stubbornly pitiful this man was acting, "What I did was dispatch of criminals! Terrorists!"
"Criminals, terrorists, that's all you ever call them…!" Mark threw his gun down and thrust his finger at the machine vigilante with greater force than whatever weapon he could handle, "When are you going to grow the hell up, and realize that all you're doing is dehumanizing them?!"
"E-Excuse me…?!" Lunalei froze up, and Mark's assault continued.
"Our DUTY…as officers of the law, isn't to pay lip service to childish ideals of 'justice' or play 'hero'! It's to stop people from hurting each other, listen to them, and give them a chance to turn their lives around!"
"Childish ideals…?!" Lunalei growled, "And just what do you call what you're spouting?! It's naive at best, suicidal at worst! The world doesn't operate on the hope that everything will work out ok in the end! People who CHOOSE to abandon the greater good to exploit the weak and innocent are CRIMINALS!"
Lunalei's emotions overrode S.A.N.C.T.U.M. 's functions, allowing her to thrust her finger back at Mark, "Like the very people YOU chose to serve under!"
Now Mark was the one made silent, because ultimately his petty idealism was never going to handle the weight of the truth.
"So don't try to give me that crap…"
Mark tightened his fists and hung his head, "You…you know NOTHING about what it means to deal with criminals…"
"Some of them can't help the circumstances they were given! They resort to crime because they feel they have no other options left to them!"
"But you don't try to reach out and understand them! The moment they do a 'crime', you paint them black and mark them for death! End of story!"
"The Valkyrie twins are the only two we've had to kill!"
"WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU SAY WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE GUTS TO TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF?!"
It finally came to a boil, and after Mark panted to catch his breath he raised his head up high and scowled, "The anonymity, the invasion of my privacy, the fruitless hunts, I could tolerate all the crap because deep down I believed that you would lead me to the truth about what happened five years ago…"
"But the moment you killed that woman in cold blood it finally hit me that you don't have a DAMN CLUE what you're doing, and are just making it up as you go along…Using your anonymity as a shield so you can escape the consequences of your actions!"
"Well guess what? I've had ENOUGH!" Mark threw his hands down and advanced upon the machine fearlessly, "If you want to continue playing vigilante, go ahead! But if you cross paths with me again, I will use every bit of power I can to bring you to justice!"
"Playing vigilante…" Lunalei's rage hit her own boiling point, and she commanded S.A.N.C.T.U.M. to grab Mark by the wrist and hoist him up, "I am the only one who will save this damn world from these terrorists! Because that's what a hero of justice DOES!"
"Yeah yeah," Mark did not lose to fear, perhaps the bloodrush was that overpowering to his sense of reason, "You called me the Gordon to your Batman, but there's something you forgot about that analogy…BATMAN DOESN'T KILL!"
"But he does, like I said before, try to REFORM criminals, and give them a better life! It doesn't always work out. People die. But he TRIES, something in all your DAMN so-called infinite genius, can't seem to get!"
"No…you'd be better off painting a skull over your machine's chest. You already got the black part down when he murders in your name…"
"..." Lunalei took deep breaths and even he could feel her glare coming through the electronic waves, "You will NEVER have the leg up over me in this argument, because at least I do this to protect my family! You've left your daughter to many uncertain nights alone in bed, waiting for the day that you come home DEAD!"
"No…no!" Mark was greatly offended, "You do NOT get to make this about her you bastard!"
"Face it Mark, you're OBSESSED with this case! Have you ever stopped, for even ONE MOMENT, to consider that maybe you're the only one who isn't willing to move on?!"
"S-Stop this…both of you," S.A.N.C.T.U.M. meekly spoke up, his voice still carrying fright from before, "This is how the enemy wins…by tearing you both apart…"
"With all due respect, S.A.N.C.T.U.M., your creator did a perfectly fine job of that themselves!" Mark shouted.
"You are a damn fool, and all you're going to do is get yourself killed!" Lunalei shouted back.
"At least if I die I'll do so on my own terms, and not because you went full mask off and decided to kill me just for being a stinking cop!"
"S.A.N.C.T.U.M….bind him to the air vent."
"S.A.N.C.T.U.M.! Don't listen to them! You owe them nothing! You probably didn't even know you were going to be used as a tool for murder!"
"I-I…"
"Don't listen to this suicidal dumbass! Tie him down!"
But the robot's silence was telling. And with no energy in his conflicted being to fight back, he let Mark go.
"S.A.N.C.T.U.M….!" Lunalei growled.
Mark rubbed his wrist, and then with one final bitter glare, turned to pick up his gun and then climbed down the rooftop.
"FINE! LEAVE! I never needed your help anyways!" Lunalei screamed. And even through all her layers of static…it sounded incredibly, incredibly childish.
"Master…"
"WHAT?!" Lunalei shouted.
"...I-I'm sorry for not speaking up sooner. But…I thought…to finish running the calculations on my idea from earlier…And I was right…"
"Had we used the metal rod behind the Valkyrie as a conductor, we could have safely helped her discharge the excess electricity into the clouds."
"The storm that followed would've been harsh, but…the city would've survived it."
"...We could've stopped her without killing her."
"..." Lunalei trembled internally, biting her teeth into her lips with a fierce, pained scowl.
"Khh…! S-Shut up…" She growled, "And…get back to your station. We'll pick the trail back up tomorrow night…"
"...Master…are you alright?" Lunalei cut the communication line and left herself in the agony of her own thoughts.
"Damn it damn it damn it…! I've been doing EVERYTHING right! I know I have…!"
The deaths of Hamazaki and the Valkyrie twins replayed in her head. In the moment, there was a sense of triumph and satisfaction over conquering the criminal element that threatened the peace of her home.
But now…what she had was less than nothing.
"I don't understand…"
Mark's scathing critique of her methods wasn't why she was so upset. It was because of WHO she based her methods on…
"I was simply trying to do things the way you would…senpai…"
Next Time: One's Justice
