Ben returned to the guild with the carcasses of the 2 serpents and they attract his guild mates attention.
"Ben-boy, why did you bring these things here?" Roubaul asked him.
"Well, they're rather strong, so I think you can create a lot of magic items from them. They also have a lot of meat, so maybe we can eat them." He answered.
"That's...whatever. You guys, dismantle those snakes!" Roubaul yelled.
"Yes sir." Several of his guild mates nodded.
"They're serpents." Ben corrected him.
"It's the same thing." Roubaul responded.
He then left the area and heads inside the guild hall. Ben followed the old man along with Wendy, Bella and Carla.
Ben gave the job completion letter to Roubaul as proof his job was finished. He also narrated what happened during his job in detail to Roubaul.
"The female serpent transforms when angered? Hmm, I never knew this type of serpent existed." He mused.
"I also found a strange dagger in the cave. It had an ominous aura coming from it, so it attracted my attention. I couldn't identify it, so I brought it back for you to check." Ben took the dagger wrapped in a towel out of his backpack.
"Hmm, well it certainly has an ominous aura emanating from it." Roubaul could feel it coming off the dagger.
He took the dagger with his bare hand. He channeled his magic power through the dagger to identify it.
"Hmm, it's used to seal something with strong malicious power." Roubaul informed Ben.
"Do you know what it is?" He asked the guild master.
"Possibly a demon. I don't know for sure, it could be another magical creature too." Roubaul admitted.
"What should we do then?" Ben questioned out loud.
"I will strengthen the seal again. It's been cracked by something inside it." Roubaul answered.
The crack is the reason for the ominous aura. Roubaul assumed that the leaking aura affected the female serpent. It's the reason behind her transformation and becoming stronger when angered.
"So it can affect something that's exposed to it's aura. It must be very strong." Ben guessed.
"Maybe it will succeed in breaking out in a few months if it's left like that. The strengthened seal will hold for a few years before it will break completely." Roubaul explained.
"Can't you make the seal last longer?" Ben asked.
"I can't, I'm not a seal master. The best I can do is strengthen the seal. The only way to stop it is either ask for a strong seal master's help or kill the thing inside it. Both are very hard to do." Roubaul remarked.
"How long will it break?" Ben questioned.
"At least 4 years. At most 5 years." The guild master estimated.
"That's enough. I'll prepare myself for that time." Ben commented.
"You want to fight it? Ben-boy, why don't you let me give this job to my friends, so they can handle it. Or maybe you can give this to the Magic Council, no need for the hassle." Roubaul suggested.
"No, I will handle it. I have a feeling this thing will be useful to me." He insisted.
Ben already had something in mind when Roubaul said that it's a demon. With such malicious power, the demon should have curse power. If he fought the demon and scanned the curse power, he'll be able to learn it too.
It's not just that though. If he can take the demon's power, he'll become a devil slayer. It might help with his organization problem if this hypothesis was correct.
If he becomes a devil slayer, then he should get a Demon Seed. It will suppress his Dragon Seed's growth if he managed it well. It's his last resort to stop his dragon seed's growth and turn him into a dragon.
'If this doesn't work, I need to find a God Seed too. God is stronger than Dragon and Dragon is stronger than Demon. If a demon can't stop a dragon, a god can.' Ben thought.
He theorized that God = Dragon, Demon. So if he had all 3 seeds, they will suppress each other's power. Ben hoped it could neutralize the effect of the seeds.
A.I Chip warned him that doing this might have a negative outcome instead of helping him, but he would take the chance. Besides, it's his last resort, he will still look for other cures that won't negatively affect him.
'If I can find a dragon, then I'll try to make him reside in my body, peacefully or forcefully. But the possibility is small, so this is my last resort.' Ben thought.
Ben snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Roubaul again.
"Trust me Gramps. I've thought about it carefully." He told the guild master.
"I don't know why you're so adamant about this, but I will trust you. Still, if I deem that you're not ready when the time comes, I won't let you do it." Roubaul stated strongly.
"Fine." Ben replied.
"Good. I will hold onto this dagger and keep it safe." Roubaul said.
After making a deal with Roubaul, Ben left the guild hall and went to his house. He needed to rest after such a long day. He will leave the future to his future self, he just needs to prepare himself for the present.
The next day...
Ben continued his research on raising his magic's temperature. Currently, he can only do it by putting more magic power into his magic. So now, he needs to increase his mastery. It will allow him to raise the temperature with less magic power than now.
'Hmm, I need some more books on temperature. Guess I'll go to a town.' Ben thought.
He decides to head to a town and took the girls with him. They went to Oshibana Town, where they took the delivery job. They haven't explored the town, so this was a good opportunity to do so.
They arrived in Oshibana Town within a half hour, and they walked through the town on foot. They visited every place they found interesting. Still, their priority was to buy books, so they visit nearly every bookstore they found.
"Hmm, let's just buy everything. I have enough money to do so, after all." Ben stated.
He decided to purchase every book, even novels and magazines. He also bought all the magic books that he hasn't collected yet. Everyone in the village needs to be literate and they also need some entertainment.
"Ben nii-san, how will we carry all these books?" Wendy asked.
"Put them in a bag." He wasn't too sure.
"You haven't thought of anything, have you?" Carla sweat dropped.
"No." Ben replied.
"Hi hi hi, clumsy Ben." Bella chuckled.
"No, he's an idiot." Carla added.
Ben finally purchased a big cart to carry all the books. His shopping spree made all book store owners in the city cheer. Although he only bought a single copy of each book, the number was still astronomical.
After finishing exploration and shopping, Ben tied the cart to the back of his car. Then they return home as it's already the afternoon.
After arriving back in the village, Ben placed all the books in the library. Yes, now they have a real library, not just Roubaul randomly taking a book out of nowhere. They use an empty building as the library as Ben started to buy a lot of books.
The library was primarily for magic and science books. As for entertainment, Ben placed them in the guild hall, so everyone could access it.
"Ben-boy, what are these books?" Roubaul asked.
"They're books for entertainment and news of the outside world. Novels, magazines, newspapers etc." Ben answered.
Roubaul took a magazine and read through it. At first, he didn't react, but when he got to the page with girls in bikinis, he started getting absorbed by the magazine.
Ben heard him giggle a little while reading the magazine, so he looked at the old man. He noticed Roubaul smiling and giggling like a crazy man. So he looked at what Roubaul was reading and a dark expression formed on his face.
Roubaul felt his gaze and turned to him. He noticed that Ben had a disgusted expression on his face and realized what he just did.
"Perverted old man." He muttered.
"W-what?! N-n-no, I-I just wanted to know about today's fashion, that's all." Roubaul tried to defend his actions.
Ben ignored him and walked out of the guild hall. It's not that he can't understand what Roubaul is feeling. He's a man too, after all. But that perverted face and giggle is really a no no.
"I need to make sure I protect Wendy from that old man in the future." He commented.
