Ben finally woke up after 7 hours and when he opened his eyes, he found himself in a white room. He looked around and saw some medical tools. His body was covered in a bandage and he had a IV drip connected to his hand.
"A hospital?" He asked out loud.
Suddenly Ben heard a door opening so he looked at the door on his left. He saw someone he knew walking through the door. A doctor and several nurses followed him in.
"You're Geld from the Magic Council?" Ben recognized him.
"Yes, I'm glad that you remember me. This makes it a lot easier." Geld smiled.
"Yeah, it's better to have someone you know asking you questions instead of a stranger." Ben remarked.
The doctor and nurses check on Ben's condition and then nod to Geld.
"It seems my condition isn't that bad, huh?" He questioned.
"No, it was actually really bad when you came here 5 hours ago. If we came too late, you would've bled out because of your wounds." Geld explained.
"That's really bad then." Ben whispered.
"It was really bad, but since this morning, your body healed really fast. Even minor wounds have closed and some minor bruises were also gone." The doctor informed him.
"Ooh, you must have good medicine. Thanks for that." Ben smiled.
"Well, I don't know if it's due to our medicine. No patient had the same result as you, so it shouldn't be because of the medicine." The doctor replied.
"Really? Hmm, maybe it's just compatible with me?" Ben raised a eyebrow.
"Probably, and maybe it's due to your already accelerated healing ability." The doctor surmised.
"Well, what's important is that you recovered fast. Doctor, can you please give us some time alone." Geld insisted.
"Absolutely." The doctor nodded.
The doctor and nurses then left the room, leaving Ben and Geld alone. Geld took a chair and sat down next to Ben before he started to ask questions. He asks about the chronology, so Ben informed him of what happened.
"So it's true. A demon from the Book of Zeref." Geld whispered.
"You found the book?" Ben asked him.
"Yes, we came across it when we investigated the area. We already assumed what happened there, but we need to confirm it with you." Geld retorted.
"Is that thing really dead now?" He questioned.
"Yes. We investigated the book and we've confirmed that the demon is dead." Geld answered.
"You know by simply investigating the book?" Ben asked.
"Yes, because demons from the Book of Zeref have a connection with the book where they came from. The book is like their ID, so we can determine it from there." Geld replied.
He didn't go into further detail, so Ben wasn't going to ask any more questions about that.
"So how did you find me? I never contacted the Magic Council?" He asked.
"It was due to your battle with the demon. The townspeople noticed a bright light emanating from the forest, and a loud explosion could be heard from town." Geld informed him.
The townspeople were worried about what they saw and heard, so they asked the Mayor to investigate. The mayor sent some of his men to check it out. When they found the battle site, they knew it wasn't their handiwork, because mages were involved.
"They called the Magic Council after that and we came as fast as we could." Geld commented.
"It must've been my last attack when I used my full power. I need to thank my 'flashy' magic for it, I guess." Ben chuckled.
"I think so too." Geld added.
Geld then left the room after asking for more details. Ben sighed in relief because he wasn't an annoying officer. He knew some guys from the Magic Council that are troublesome and hate working with mages.
"I want to scan the Book of Zeref, but I can't ask any more questions now. Being able to return alive is good enough. A.I Chip, what did you get from that battle." Ben spoke.
[Regeneration ability learned: 62.34%
Curse of Petrification learned: 35.21%]
'If I had access to the book, I will be able to learn more about these demons, but this is good enough, I guess.' Ben thought.
He snapped out of his thoughts and focused on the condition his body was in.
'A.I Chip, scan my body!' Ben ordered.
[Scanning...
Scan complete! Body's condition is 67.52%. Bone in left hand is broken and will heal in 5 days.]
"Wow, my body really healed fast. This is really good medicine. What was my condition when they found me?" Ben asked.
[Approximately 33.12% health. It's not completely because of the medicine. The biggest factor that helped you recover is the sunlight that you get through the window.]
"Sunlight?" Ben questioned.
[Furthermore, your body is strong and naturally has a accelerated healing ability.]
"I can understand my healing ability is strong because I have a strong body. But what about the sunlight? It never worked like this before." Ben stated.
[A.I Chip has used some data that was scanned from Mreye's regeneration ability to be used on you and enhance your healing ability. Only 9.01% of data can be used on you, so it only hastens your healing ability instead of allowing you to fully regenerate like Mreye.]
"Wow, that's good enough for me. So unlike Mreye who absorbed Ethernano liquid from the earth, I absorb it from the sunlight? Am I a plant now? Is this photosynthesis?" Ben asked.
[Yes, you are a plant.]
"WAIT, WHAT?! REALLY?" Ben exclaimed, startled.
[No, it's just a joke.]
"...Sometimes I really want to punch you in the face." Ben had a tick mark on his face. A.I Chip's monotone voice made the joke sound real.
After that, Ben tried to move his body and he could do it easily. Although it wasn't as easy as when he was in full health, but it's not that hard either.
Having recovered significantly, he decided to go home. The doctor discharged him after examining him again.
Ben was in Kunugi Town now. It's close to the forest and Oshibana Town where he parked his car. Ben needed to find his car, so he headed to the train station and boarded a train to Oshibana.
It only took 15 minutes for him to get to Oshibana and immediately found his car in a garage. Ben got in his car and returned to the guild. Everyone else must be worried because he had been gone for 3 days.
In a half hour, Ben was back at the guild and everyone came to meet him after hearing his car approach. They surrounded his car and wait for him to step out of it. They were really worried about him.
"I'm home." He announced after exiting the vehicle.
"Welcome home." His guild mates greeted him.
"BEN!" Bella flew forward and hugged him, but she hit his broken left hand.
"OUCH OUCH! Bella, please don't touch my left hand." He winced in pain.
"Sorry." She apologized.
Bella moved and laid on top of Ben's head. Wendy also wanted to hug him, but after seeing him wince in pain after his left hand was touched, she decided not to.
"It's fine as long as you don't touch my left hand." Ben told her.
Wendy smiled and hugged him from the right side, so he patted her head. Carla was shy to hug him, so he just pulls her forward and patted her head too.
"Ben-boy, it seems your job this time was really hard. I'm glad that you got past it and returned to us. Let's go to the guild hall so you can tell us what happened." Roubaul advised.
"Alright." He nodded.
They went to the guild hall and Ben filled them in on what happened over the last 3 days.
"So the mages weren't the problem, it was the demon they summoned, huh?" Roubaul mused.
"Yeah, running away wasn't possible at the time. So I fought it." Ben informed his guild master.
"I understand, running away will just leave you open to it's attacks. It will endanger you and also endanger other people. Well, let's not discuss that anymore and celebrate your return." Roubaul brushed it off.
The guild celebrated Ben's safe return. Nothing was better than their guild mate's safety.
