Ben was now learning how to craft a magic item. He watched Roubaul make a wand using a wooden stick. Roubaul wrote some magic letters on the wand to make it possible for Ethernano to flow through it.
"It doesn't use lacrima?" Ben asked him.
"No, this is the old model of the wand that doesn't use lacrima. I'll show you the difference in their crafting process."
Roubaul then proceeded to craft the wand that uses lacrima. The concept of this lacrima was like a battery that stores Ethernano. It can be charged with Ethernano after usage and used after the mage ran out of it.
The process was similar and used magic letters. However, the formula is different. The one with the lacrima has a more complex formula because it has more mechanisms.
But it wasn't a problem as Ben had a supercomputer inside his head. Ben used A.I Chip to scan the process and learn it. He won't be too engrossed on crafting magic items after all. It was good enough for A.I Chip to save the procedure so he could access it at any time.
"It's similar to the formula I used on the magic car." He said.
"Of course. The principle is the same." Roubaul replied.
He explained that the principle for crafting magic items is the same. They all use magic letters to create the desired effect. Different combinations produce different effects.
That's why Ben needs to learn about magic letters first. But that wasn't a problem because he already learned about it. Magic letters were included in the thick book he received from Roubaul.
Ben finished scanning that book and saved it to A.I Chip's database. So he access it at any point. Furthermore, he could ask A.I Chip to write down the formula with his super computation ability.
Then he tried to craft 2 wands too. He followed the steps that Roubaul showed him and used the same formulas. Even so, the results were different. Ben's wands are crude and when he tested them, they broke instantly.
"Experience really talks here." Ben said.
"Keep practicing and you'll slowly get better. Even a genius will fail at first. Everyone has their share of failure." Roubaul said.
He spent the rest of the day crafting wands. He successfully copied the normal wand. But then he started experimenting by using other formulas. All the experiments failed, but Ben was satisfied as he obtained a lot of data.
The next morning, Wendy cast another healing spell on Ben. When she was done, his broken bones were almost completely healed. Just getting some sunlight will allow him to fully recover.
Ben continued practicing crafting a magic item in the field. This way, he could absorb sunlight and continue his experiment. Ben still used wooden sticks as his materials, because they can be found all over the place.
The girls were playing and training in the field. They also asked him to evaluate their training on occasion. The girls were taking their training more seriously nowadays. They don't want to lose to the students they're teaching, after all.
Ben taught the girls while experimenting how to make magic wands. For a week, he followed the same routine. He trains, teaches the girls, crafts magic wands and experiments with formulas.
He achieved a significant result this week. His achievement no longer fazes Roubaul now. The old man even said he achieved months of learning in a week. It was thanks to A.I Chip's super computing ability.
On Monday, Team Ben taught the students again. Now Ben trained their physical power and the method to increase their magic power. What he taught them is the same as what he trained with in the cave.
It would be more effective for them to train in a place with high magical density. But it will still work even in ordinary places. They would still get a good result if they train every day, after all.
Then like usual, Ben went to the library after school came to a end. But now he was focused on the books about magic items and magic letters. He already has a plan on what magic items he wanted to make. But he needed a lot of data on it.
After that, Ben went to pick the girls up, but first he purchased some materials. He bought some metal to forge his magical item. Then he picked the girls up and they returned home.
The next day, he began the project to create the magic item. He and A.I formulated the magic letters. Then he tested the formula using wood first.
Ben started to make the crude shape of the magic item using wood. When he was done, the item's shape became clear. It was a pistol, and he made it from wood as a trial.
He crafted 5 wood pistols because he and A.I Chip have 3 formulas. The other 2 were spares. Ben installed the formulas on the wood pistols. Then after he finished, he fired the pistols. Roubaul and the girls then approached to watch the test.
Ben picked up the first pistol and fired at a tree. BANG* Ben fired the pistol, but instead of shooting a bullet, it exploded. Luckily, he was wearing protective clothing Roubaul made from the scales of the serpent he killed not that long ago.
"Hmm, the force is too strong. Even if I use metal, it will slowly break. It also spread the force instead of focusing forward." He noted.
Ben tried the second one, but it was too weak. The last one had good force, but the charging took too long. He ordered A.I Chip to analyze the results and fix the problems.
A.I Chip analyzed the 3 models with Ben's guide. It took a half hour for them to finish the new formula. Ben installed it on the 4th wood pistol, then he tried it out.
BANG* The pistol fired nicely and has enough power. But it still used his magic power as fuel. So he placed a lacrima on the 5th pistol and used the same formula. Ben tried it again and it had the same power as the 4th pistol.
"It's strong, but that won't be enough to fight high-level enemies. You need more power for it." Roubaul remarked.
"I know. I will try it on the one I made out of metal and raise the power slowly until I find the correct amount of power. I also want to add elements to the bullets."
"Is that even possible?" Roubaul asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I'll make it possible." Ben said with a smirk on his face.
He had A.I Chip, so he was really confident that he could make it. He just needed time and he had it. He wasn't in a rush and could take his time to build a good magic pistol.
After that, Ben made the pistol from the metal he bought yesterday. He heated the metal with his magic until it became soft enough for him to shape with his hands, but not too hot that it would melt.
Ben did this before when he built his car. So it was a lot easier and faster this time. He finished it the next day, but it was just a basic pistol.
It only had a handle, barrel, trigger and small lacrima crystal. It was just a experimental weapon, so there was no need for it to be fancy.
Ben installed the formula that had more power than the one he used on the wood pistol. Ben tested it by firing it at a tree, and it shoots nicely.
"Good power, but it can hold more. Let's raise the power a little." Ben and A.I Chip improve the formula and add more power. Then when he tried it again, the shot became better. It has more firepower and the pistol can maintain the effect.
"Now, let's try adding elements to the bullets."
