3 days had passed since Ben test fired the magic revolver and the new materials arrived. He wanted to see Roubaul's mysterious friends, but failed. His friends were a mystery that he had to solve.
He didn't think much about it and focused on the task at hand. He checked the material and it looked like metal, but it was a very light metal. The ore's color was silver with black accents.
"That is mithril. It's a metal that allows Ethernano to flow through it a lot better than any other metal. It is also very light and strong." Roubaul said, suddenly appearing behind him.
"Mithril? I've only heard of it's name. I never thought it was real. It must be very rare and expensive." Ben said.
"It is rare, but not very rare. There are a lot of items and materials that are rarer than mithril. But among metals, it is the rarest to find. So it is very expensive."
"Oh." Ben picked the ore up and inspected it.
"You don't want to know about it's price?" Roubaul asked, curiously.
"No, as long as my money is enough, that's fine."
"Ben-boy, I think you need to find a wife that can manage your money in the future." Roubaul shook his head.
I'll think about it." Ben replied nonchalantly.
He took a piece of ore and tried to heat it up with his magic. Mithril's melting point is so high that his current highest temperature can't melt it. He can only heat it until it can be shaped with a hammer.
"This material is really good. I can't even melt it yet." Ben said.
"Yeah, that's why only a few people are able to process mithril. The heat and techniques that are needed to process mithril are not easy to master. It requires years of training and experience." Roubaul said.
"Then why did you want me to use mithril? I never even saw it before."
"Don't worry, who do you think I am? I won't order mithril if I don't know how to process it. Some people in the guild can also process mithril. We were poor, so we couldn't afford to purchase mithril before." Roubaul had a smug expression on his face.
"You can be smug about the first one, but you should be embarrassed about the last one." Ben sweat dropped.
"*Cough* Anyway, you can leave the processing to us. I just need your help with the heat. No fire we produce will be as hot as your fire."
"Alright."
Some of his guild mates then took the mithril ore to the workshop. Ben handed the blueprints to Roubaul. There were 4 blueprints for Ben, Wendy, Bella and Carla.
Ben's gun was a revolver with 8 elemental bullets. Wendy's gun was a basic pistol with wind element bullets. Carla wanted a flintlock with wind element bullets like Wendy while Bella wanted a Gatling gun. Yeah, Gatling gun.
Bella's Gatling gun was a small Gatling gun that can be placed on her hand. Ben remembered that in the past, he saw a cartoon with a black cat that had a Gatling gun on his hand. He drew it for his amusement, but then Bella saw it and wanted it.
Ben eventually agreed after Bella kept pestering him all day and night. So he designed the suitable Gatling gun for Bella's size. The element that she chose was light. She chose it because it sounded cool when Ben tried it with his prototype.
Ben and the rest of the guild then started to process the mithril. He heated the mithril ores with his spells. Then the others processed it to make the parts.
The crafting process for mithril was long. Even after a day and night, they only finished some parts. If Ben didn't heat the mithril ore, it would take longer.
It's also because the gun's parts were so small and intricate they take longer to finish. Usually mithril is used to make swords, spears, shields, armor or other large items. But these were small and needed a lot of detail and precision.
It took 2 weeks but all four guns were eventually constructed. Ben didn't go on a solo job in order to finish his gun. He still trained and hunted animals to keep his skills sharp.
After finishing their jobs, they returned home to sleep. A lot of energy was expended these last 2 weeks, so they needed to get some rest. They weren't that excited to test the guns out. They just wanted some sleep.
The next day, they finally had the energy to test fire the guns. Everyone was excited to see the results of their handiwork. Ben took the guns and fired them one by one.
BANG BANG BANG BANG*
All 4 guns worked perfectly like they hoped for. Ben then gave Wendy, Bella and Carla their respective guns. They need to get used to them.
The 3 of them trained how to use guns these last 2 weeks with the prototype revolver. Ben taught them the techniques and gave them some tasks to finish. So at least, they could use the guns, even if they were not professionals.
Wendy, Carla and Bella aim their guns at the tree and fire. They needed some rounds in order to get used to the guns because they had only trained with Ben's prototype. But then they started to get the hang of it and their shots got better.
Ben told them to keep shooting and count their shots. He wanted to know the limit of their guns. Wendy's gun could shoot 553 bullets, Carla's could shoot 547, but Bella only had 231 rounds.
"That's not a lot." Bella complained.
"No. I designed your Gatling gun to have more bullets although the power of each bullet was reduced. It has a high firing rate, so the bullets can't be too strong. I think you miscounted because the gun fires too quickly." Ben explained.
"Oh okay." Bella easily accepted the explanation.
"Now you guys need to take care of your guns. They can save you in a dangerous situation when you can't use your magic. That's why I want you to train using your gun every day even if it's just a few shots." Ben instructed.
The girls nod and then go play. Ben wanted to try out his revolver too. But he won't fire on a tree again. He will hunt animals with the revolver.
'It's been over 2 years since I used a gun in a fight. Let's get that feeling back so I won't fail when I use it in the future.' Ben thought.
He headed into the forest to hunt animals. He shot at almost every animal that he saw. He didn't shoot any inedible ones because he had no use for them. The ones he did shoot were collected and he will bring them back for food. Ben never wastes anything he hunts.
At first, it was difficult for him to shoot moving targets while he was moving as well. But he quickly got used to it and his shooting sense slowly returned.
After finishing the hunt, Ben returned to the village. He brought a lot of animals with him, big and small. He looked like he was carrying a car with all his prey on his head. But it didn't matter, because tonight they can have a feast.
