The next day, Ben finally left the hospital. He hadn't fully recovered and was still injured. But it take longer for him to recover if he stayed in the hospital.
It would be faster for him to recover if he returned to the guild. Wendy will be able to heal him with her magic. It will faster to recover with her help than taking medicine.
But Ben had to use a wheelchair now because of his numerous fractures. He had crashed into the ground repeatedly when Grossalia attacked him. His bones were still fractured even though he covered his body in magic.
Luckily, he can purchase a magic wheelchair that used a mage's magic power to move the wheels. It didn't use lacrima as a power source, but it was still better than a normal wheelchair. He also had a lot of magic power, so the wheelchair wouldn't stop anytime soon.
Ben left the hospital after Marc helped him take care of some administration. He followed Marc to the mayor's residence with Bella sitting on his lap.
"Have you informed the kingdom about my job?" Ben asked Marc.
"Yes, I reported what I know to the mayor and she reported it to the kingdom. They will send some people to meet you here to ask for details." Marc informed him.
"Well, they want to check the island out too. So they sent these people here directly to save time." He added.
"They have a plan for the island, huh?" Ben asked.
They arrive at the mayor's residence shortly after that. The representatives from the kingdom hadn't arrived it, so Marc took Ben to see his car in the storage room. Ben cried comically after seeing the condition his car was in.
"*Sniff* My Garuda Phoenix." Ben said while crying and hugging his broken car.
Bella patted him on the head to make him feel better. She knows how much Ben loves his car and how painful it is for him to see his car look like this.
"Damn, it was a mistake to bring my car on this job. I should've left it here from the beginning." Ben said, still crying.
"Well, no one could've predicted that there was a monster like that on the island." Marc remarked.
"Yeah, at least you killed the monster that did this to your car." The mayor said after suddenly appearing.
The mayor came with a woman and 2 men. They're the representatives from the kingdom. The woman was the one who would ask Ben about the details of his job and note it as the report.
"Are you the S-Class mage from Cait Shelter, Ben Cooper?" The woman asked.
"Yeah, it's me." Ben replied.
"My name is Silvy Reiss. I am the person assigned to get the details of your job." Silvy explained after introducing herself.
"Alright." Ben replied.
Ben then told them about everything he found on the island. He also narrated his battles with the Metepedes. Silvy noted everything and one of the men also recorded their conversation using a lacrima recorder.
All of them were shocked when Ben told them about the battle. The sheer number of the Metepedes was a big threat on the island. But knowing Ben defeated them all was even more surprising.
"So they aren't any of those creatures living there now?" Silvy asked.
"There shouldn't be, but there will always be a possibility." Ben answered.
"Hmm? But you said that the last monster was the strongest creature on the island. So if she died, there wouldn't be anything that's considered a big threat anymore, right?" The woman asked.
"That might be true, but I told you before. I found some caves. I'm guessing that those caves are connected to the giant underground chamber where the Metepedes lived."
"But I haven't explored them all, so I don't know if they're really connected or not. So there might be something that is not as strong as her, but is still equally strong. Besides, that place is full of wildlife that might put you in danger." Ben continued.
"So you want us to be cautious on that island?" Silvy asked.
"Of course. Even you need to be cautious in a place that you think is safe. You'll never know what kind of creature came there while you were away." Ben told her.
Silvy was a little surprised to hear that from Ben. She was a little doubtful of him because he is young even though he is a S-Class mage. So she assumed he would be immature and arrogant, but that wasn't the case.
Silvy then smiled.
"I guess you're right. We'll be more cautious about our tasks later. If even a S-Class mage is telling us to be cautious, then we'll really need to do it." She said.
Ben smiled and nodded after she said that. He knew that she doubted him before, but she still listened to him.
"Then, we will take our leave. Thank you for your excellent job. The kingdom will pay you through your guild like usual. I hope we can hire you again in the future." Silvy said while closing her notebook.
"You're welcome. But I don't know if I'll take a dangerous job from you guys again. I might break my car again if your job is too dangerous." Ben said jokingly.
"Ha ha, I'm really sorry about that. I will try to ask for compensation to fix your car. Maybe the kingdom will even give you a new car for compensation." Silvy said sheepishly as she looked at Ben's broken car.
"I hope that will happen." Ben said.
After that, Silvy and the 2 men leave with the mayor following them. Marc took Ben and Bella out to eat before they returned home. The mayor also joined their lunch after sending Silvy off. They engaged in small talk before Ben and Bella left.
Ben and Bella then return to their village. Luckily, they didn't need to walk because the mayor gave them an old, unused car. It was the old model that uses a mage's magic power, but it was better than nothing.
Ben asked some people to put his broken car on a cart. So now he can take his broken car back and he also had a new old model car. At least he will have a car to use while he builds a new one.
It took 6 hours for Ben and Bella to reach the village. The old model wasn't as fast as Garuda Phoenix. It also needed a lot of magic power, fortunately, Ben has a lot of magic power to spare.
Ben got out of the car and into his new wheelchair. His condition surprised everyone in the village because Ben never came back like this. At most, he will receive a lot of injuries but still be able to walk.
He went to the guild hall slowly while Bella flew there. Wendy and Carla came out of the guild hall to see them after Bella called for them. Roubaul also came out and they were all surprised to see he was in bad shape.
Wendy immediately went over to Ben and used her Healing Magic. Carla and Roubaul also check on his condition. Ben remained silent as they inspected him.
"Your job appeared to be tough, Ben-boy." Roubaul said after seeing his condition.
"Yeah, it was the hardest job I had ever taken so far. But at least I returned alive although I'm confined to a wheelchair. Some fractures are better than me losing my life." He calmly stated.
"Of course it is." Carla said, slightly pissed off.
Ben just smiled and rubbed Carla's head. He knew she was very worried even though she didn't show it. He also rubbed Wendy's head with his other hand because she had tears flowing down her eyes.
"I'm sorry if I worried you. But I'm back now." Ben said softly.
"Yes, welcome home." Wendy said with a smile.
Carla didn't say it loudly and just whispered slowly. She said the same thing as Wendy. She was always trying to remain composed and hide her feelings.
Ben just smiled.
"I'm home." He said.
